🔺 Our Mission 🔺
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and education.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal.
Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

The title and the quick early statement had me confused. Thanks for the later explanation of both why they're hunting squirrels and that squirrels fight back while rabbits don't. Learning is fun. :)
Just amazing to see the red tail hawk elevate to a higher altitude using its wings with the air that he uses to rise or decent . Amazing and beautiful
Excellent Martin. Might I offer some camera advice? Get a good muff for your mic hole and glue it over the top of it completely sealed all around but don't get glue in the hole(s). These muffs are also known as "dead cats". No more wind noise! Keep up the good work!
I was just wondering about the big build for a bird sanctuary... hopefully that plan has come to fruition...
What a wonderful sight to see 😊 Thank you so much from🇬🇧🇬🇧
I am a volunteer and supporter of Blue Mountain Wildlife Rescue out of Pendelton, Oregon. To me there’s no better feeling that one gets as to play a part in helping rehabilitate these exquisite raptors and then release back in to their element. I encourage anyone enjoying this video to get involved. We do make a difference!!!
Releases are the best part!
You could literally feel the joy of his flying after being freed. Like he could not believe it and just wanted to keep flying. Gosh, the mountains look amazing. Like a painting!
🙂
You can thank God for that . . .
Yes. Exactly. You could feel how happy he is. Hope he has a good life.
Stop telling lies lad
no you can't
The way he said ' that's where he belongs'' touched me ,there was passion in his voice,
And it is exhilarating to really feel that passion for the birds!!!!
Releases are the best part!
He wasn't "showing off"......he was thanking you for helping him heal. And I thank you! All creatures deserve our help.
Back where he belongs
He really enjoyed his first flight after release.
What a beautiful bird
We hope he's doing well
Lovely to see the Hawk able to do its thing like that... You both do great work, thank you. Darren.
Thanks Darren! Releases are the best part
Blessed people! Thank you so much for your love!
Thank you for your interest
"What a tremendous reward!" Took the words right out of my heart! Many blessings!
Yep!
It was marvelous to see him soar for so long. He was really enjoying himself being a hawk.
A treat!
Did you know that a red tail hawk is actually part of the vulture family? I didn't believe it but the latin genus says otherwise.
I wouldn't have minded to see him circle until he took off in whatever direction he was going to go. I've watched a lot of less satisfying videos on YT.
How beautiful is the colour of his tail?❤️ Thank you Martin and Susan for treating us to another beautiful rescue story.😊
He seemed so happy to be flying free once again.
Agreed!
„What a tremendous reward“ , that’s such a nice thing to say and it sums up all you guy’s love and dedication. Wonderful work, thank you and thanks too for sharing this 💕
Thank you for your interest and kind words
Thank U n Susan for caren 4 the eyes in the sky keep up the good work to teach the youth
Thank you!
I love watching u put the animals back into the wild , thank u
Best part!
I know it should not be a surprise that Martin has bird feeders but they are still cute and nice to see: an effort to help smaller birds survive. Martin and Sue are always so willing to provide a nice, good meal to needy wildlife.
My heart was soaring with that beautiful creature! Thank you so much for what you do and for including us all.
Glad you enjoyed
It was nice of you for thanking me for watching you release that red tail hawk, thanks for making it possible and your your efforts on behalf of the critters.
We're always grateful and surprised for all the support and interest in the critters and in our channel.
Such a thrill to see that beauty. Loved how he/she went immediately to the highest point on the tree. We have lots of Red-shouldered and Cooper’s Hawks. And I love them but seeing a big Redtail is a treat. What a beautiful spot. Thanks for letting us tag along. And sorry about those trees. Ugh.
Definite thrill!
Thanks a for being good humans and taking care of this animal. Watching him soar is a beautiful sight.
Releases are the best part!
You do such beautiful work…..I love what you do…..Thank you
Thank you for your interest and kind words
Being a wildlife rehab specialist must be hard but rewarding work. Just seeing that hawk catching the thermals was exhilarating for me hundreds of miles back East, inside my home, watching this on a tiny cellphone screen. Thank you so much for having us along, and may your yard cleanup be swift and otherwise uneventful.
Good days and bad days...
That was truly awesome! What a beautiful bird! Thank you so much for sharing these experiences with us.
Glad you enjoyed
You will get countless blessings for saving all the beautiful creatures in your care.
Releases are the best part

Thanks Carl. They are not grateful though. Captivity is very stressful, they just want to get away and back in the wild where they belong
Thank you so much 💓 for sharing that God bless you both...
Thanks for your interest
What a lovely bird and a fantastic place to live 👍🇬🇧
Definitely there are attributes!
Seemed he wanted to, even at the very end, want to keep you both in his sight. ♥️♥️

So nice to see him fly free again. Thanks Martin and Sue.
Agreed!
Thank you so very much for helping this beautiful bird. He sure is showing off his flying skills. You people are the best and I thank you for sharing this heartwarming video!
Glad you enjoyed!
Wow!!! He flew around the mountains above the mountains above the clouds. Like Martin said, "He's loving that wind." He put up a fight in the cage. Good for him.
You handle this large bird with such expertise, and gentleness. Thank you for all your hard work, and knowledge.
Thank you for your interest. Martin has been working with critters over 50 years!
@@GowildlifeOrg He's a wonderful man. Those critters are lucky to meet him.
We have a lot of Red Tailed Hawks here in North Georgia. We had some sort of large hawk or two that kept getting stuck somehow in our screened in porch and I had to pick it up and put it back out. They are huge but weigh almost nothing. Amazing and beautiful creatures. Yours couldn't wait to feel the wind in his feathers again.
For their size, they are surprisingly light
they weigh on avg about two lbs
Stop telling lies lad
@@billybarr7443 quit telling lies.
Truly wonderful to see that lovely hawk better and soaring high. A beautiful display. SIGH
Agreed!
Such a delight and so rewarding to you I'm sure! Thanks so much for helping the RTH and sharing this with us !
We hope he's doing well back in the wild
Im so happy there are people in this world that help our wildlife. i enjoyed the vide, tysm.
We are too, a whole lot of people help us help critters!
That’s spectacular 🌤🤗🙌🏻💯🧡 He’s just happy to be alive and free. Thank you for sharing these videos and caring for wildlife, Susan and Martin. Blessings to you always.
What a fantastic feeling to see him being free. It was like he wanted to show us all what freedom is like.
Back where he belongs...
What a great sight to see the beautiful red tail flying up into the sky and clouds. He could feel the wind under his wings for sure. Love releases like these. Susan, amazing job on the photography. All breath taking. Makes me happy😀
Glad you enjoyed!
What a beautiful show she put on for you to say thanks. Gorgeous bird
Agreed!
There is no other way to perceive this flight of fancy as anything but a true ‘thank you’ for helping him. Most animals, held captive against their will (even if it’s to help them) will flee the scene immediately one freed. This little guy knew you saved his life-and is giving you a present.
Captivity is very stressful, they just want to get back to the wild where they belong.
Love watching red-tailed hawks, thanks to people like these, great video.
Us too!
He is beautiful! Thank you for that lovely video of him flying around. Great scenery too!
Hi Tosca, thanks for watching
Oh my he did show his gratitude to you upon release! What a magnificent creature, the handwork of our Creator!
He just wanted to get back to the wild where he belongs
Yea red tail flew by saying thank you look at me soar and then go over the mountain home❤💚💜💙💛
A treat to watch
... Beautiful... We are so fortunate that you guys shared this with us...👍
Thank you Keita, glad you enjoyed!
Gorgeous RT! I have them here in my town (about 45 miles east of San Francisco) I love ❤️ watching them soar. It was so nice that he hung around you guys for a bit so we could see his beautiful underside and his amazing glide. Susan, you are so great at keeping track of birds in flight. I’d lose them in a minute 😆! Great job to you both as always.
Glad you enjoyed!
Such beatiful beeing.
What a lovely planet.
Thanks for your work.
Thanks Timo! A whole lot of people help us help critters!
Thank you, Martin and Susan. So happy for him.

So good! I’m always amazed at Martin’s dexterity with that net. Quick hands!

Im writing from Pacific northwest, with trumpeter swans and junco, and everything in between. So grateful you care for my friends. Thank you
I have three red tail hawks living next to my house. They hang out on a electric pole from the oldest to the youngest. They really look cool just being and doing their thing in the great out doors.
Sounds like great neighbors!
@@GowildlifeOrg You have no idea as to how much fun it is watching them watching me. And they notice just about anything moving. One hell of a birds for sure.

Thank you for the great videos! I stumbled onto your channel just about a month ago! I hope you continue helping these beautiful wild birds; the eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, even those other little critters you occasionally video! God Bless You…
I watched a hawk catch a trout and he proudly flew over me twice in a braggish show off kind of way!
Quite a sight!

@@GowildlifeOrgIndeed! Made a donation in memory of beloved pooch "Paco." All the best to you!🥰
One of my favorite songs is “The Eagle and the Hawk” by John Denver. This release reminds me of that song. I love to see these magnificent raptors soar. Thank you for all that you do for these magnificent creatures.
Mine too the eagle and the hawk. All those who see me and all who belive in me share in the freedom i feel when i fly. Powerful lyrics and the music makes me cry when i hear it too.
Glad you enjoyed! We miss Mr. Denver...
I’m speechless this is so beautiful thank you for doing all of your work
Quite a sight!
Wow that Red Tail Hawk put on a show, beautiful to watch him soar.
Agreed!
Gorgeous animal and a favorite of mine. Thank you for this video and the wonderful work you do!
Ours too!
This was beautiful. I was born and raised in Utah, then in 2013 we moved out to Missouri.
I love watching these videos for two reasons.
1. I love birds of prey and your channel.
2. I miss Utah's mountains and my home state.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.
Great to hear, glad you are enjoying our vids
Thank you doing such great work. So inspiring and kind!
Thank you Brian, we appreciate your interest
He was flying over your head to tell you how thankful it was that you helped it to get better 😁
Back in the wild!
his way of saying thank you 💗
I got to hold one once at the Bird Rescue Center in Santa Rosa! It was 1 of the only 2 times in my life that I almost burst into tears. The Divine was apparent!
I need a love button for this, my favorite bird
Glad you enjoyed
I hope the bunnies get busy with more! Happy healing!
Us too
Love how "Red" made sure to come around you to say thank you before it took off to truly soar all the way out there, over the mountains~ Body~ ~ Heart and Soul Melting , you could actually hear it through his wing spread ~ "WoooooooooOOOOOHoooooOOOOOOooooooo! I'M FREeEeeEeeeeeeEEeeeee WEeEeeEeEeeEeee ahahah!"
Back in the wild!
What a marvelous video. Thank you for sharing it. I felt so happy after watching it.
Great to hear, glad you enjoyed!
Holy cow, cannot believe a snowstorm caused so much tree damage. Wow. So sorry, guys.
Gravity!
I guess y’all can keep some of that for firewood? Lemons into lemonade?
That’s so awesome. Thank you very much for what you do. God bless you
Thank you for your interest!
Thank YOU ❤ *SO* much! Love Birds Of Prey! He was a Beautiful Hawk, watching rise on those thermal layers, majestic! They carry the Native Souls in their Being! God creates miracles! Blessings🙏💜
We hope he's doing well back in the wild
That was good camera work Sue
And Martin
Thanks for your continued work
Releases are the best part!
Where I live is dairy / corn farms and every year we get new hawks. Some years the stand of trees has produced as little as 3 young others I have counted 15 in the air at the same time. It almost looks like they hunt in packs. They will sit on the tree line or power poles and several will fly low over the fields and you get to see when they scare something up as the "driver birds" move on holding the scared preys attention another will come off the tree line and make a grab for it. Beautiful birds.
I fly rc multirotor and once in a while a juvenile will think its food and give chase for a short while. The fun part is when I fly at a local ball park the pigeons and other small birds will fly with me like I am the lead. Some will even do the loops and rolls and flips along with the quad. Its like play time for them.
Good neighbors!
Awesome!!! What a beautiful bird! Here in northeast Wisconsin I see a retail hawk on my way home from work and it just absolutely puts a big smile on my face and it makes my day more enjoyable.
Always a treat to see in the wild!
Love those red tails, we often have them flying and hunting by our local freeways in So California, just sit right on light posts. The drought has really taken a toll on wildlife. Love how this guy is just enjoying his flight. Another great rescue! @Martin, just curious, is there a reason why you didn’t use a hood on this little guy for transport?
It's not easy in the wild...
I wondered too about the hood 🤔
I was a little curious about that to, did you think for a minute, just maybe birdy might get a little bitey?
Wonderful! I found you by chance………Thankyou for giving us this experience! Best Wishes from Northamptonshire, England.
Hi John, glad you found us, glad you enjoyed! Greetings back to England!
