For the Kashmiri tea, it was rude to say this was the longest time you’ve taken to make tea. You reiterated it many times. Pls realise people invest time in sharing recipes with you, and without their recipes your UA-cam channel can’t get anywhere. If you don’t like a recipe a suggestion is don’t make it, but don’t be rude this way. I always like your content but I was pretty disappointed by what you said. Unsubscribing right away. I didn’t mean to be rude, but I’m just being direct. I hope you take a positive feedback from this and don’t depict this behaviour again.
Why is your ad so weird? You keep saying "organic materials" but only mention cotton...and you say THAT when saying that it's fair trade certified which you for some reason define as meaning that it uses organic cottons. That is NOT what fair trade means in any way whatsoever!

Just a note for the captions: I believe what the Canadian says is "justice for Wet'suwet'en", which is an indigenous nation that has been fighting for years against a pipeline that was constructed without proper consultation with them (it goes through their land and dangerously close to their water supply, and consultation with indigenous folks of a region is a legal requirement here).

I'm drinking Sri Lankan milk tea right now. I love it! You don't even need the condensed milk. Just regular milk or even powdered milk works great!

My grandmother had us make red raspberries and red raspberry leaf tea. It helps with cramps and child birth. But it's also very good for sore muscles when you've overdone in the garden/ yard.

Japan's Ochazuke need to get honorable mention. It's rare to have food with tea as one of main ingredient. In some places in Japan, especially Kyoto, serving Ochazuke is a polite way to say 'Please go home.'

As a Sri Lankan Sinhalese I've never heard about tehtani. We have kiri teh (Milk tea) but we never use condensed milk instead we use powdered milk. Wow you learn something new everyday.
Same here, as a sinhalese "thethani" I've never heard that before in sri lanka. We called it "kiri thé".

If you add a bit more vanilla, the London Fog tastes like fruit loops. I love it. If you do it iced it tastes like your drinking leftover cereal milk after eating fruit loops.

@@monkensnoopif you go to Starbucks you can get one, I usually get the grande size and ad about 5 pumps of vanilla.
I always double shot the vanilla, and add some Lavender to my London fogs
Rooibos is also enjoyed plain, with milk and sugar, and we also make lattes/cappuccino with it. I really like flavouring custards with it
1. I dun think one can make noon chai with any green tea. We, at least in Jammu and Kashmir, use specific kind of tea leaves to make noon chai which is also called as desi chai in Jammu parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
2. Noon chai or desi chai as we call it in the parts where I come from, can be had sweet. That’s sugar and no salt.
3. I agree that you need to boil it for long (and that’s why I hardly ever make it), but you dun need to stir it constantly. You put everything in a saucepan, put it on a low flame and forget about it for about 1 hour. Occasional stirring is all that’s required.
4. Noon chai (salty one) takes some time to get used to. It’s best had with buttered Kashmiri roti. And the sugary version (desi chai) is best had with rusk. Give it another chance maybe. This time with right kind of green tea leaves.

Noon chai is actually made from a type of green tea which is also called as gunpowder tea, and if you don’t have gunpowder tea you can use any green tea.
Many varieties of Tea in Sri lanka. Ceylon tea (Sri Lankan) is world famous. Indian lady who was talked about tea also mentioned Lipton tea which is from Sri Lanka.
Yes the London fog! Try the dirty earl gray or dirty London fog: same ingredients but add a shot of espresso. It’s the best ❤

This sounds amazing! I looked up jujubes (I own a bunch of jujube wood utensils). As it turns out, it’s not a date, at all! It’s a member of the buckthorn family!
If you ever do a coffee episode, do give "coffee jelly" a try! It's a popular Japanese treat and it's as simple as using coffee instead of fruit juice in a jello. You can make it with presweetened coffee or do the unsweetened version and drizzle any sweetener/syrup of choice. I like my coffee jelly unsweetened, & pour unsweetened evaporated milk over it & top it with a sprinkle of raw sugar.
love coffee jelly! we often cut them up and put them in fun drinks like iced coffee or chocolate milk. Also used a lot in place of the pearls in milk tea/boba tea
I accidentally got coffee jelly instead of coconut jelly in my bubble tea today. It's nice but that's too much caffeine for me today 😂
Ceylon is also a really good tea to make Boba Tea with.

Labrador tea has been used by indigenous people for thousands of years. Been 50 years since I had any.
Wow, I lived in Alaska for 4 years and never heard of that one. I lived in the interior though. I had heard of spruce tea, fireweed tea, and wild rose tea.

The graphic novel you showed about the Indigenous tribes looks amazing!!! Also, my favorite teas are American Sweet Iced Tea (any flavor will do), Earl Grey with condensed milk, or Red Fruit with milk (It gets this beautiful lilac color that is a pleasure to indulge in =).
I drink peppermint tisane after every meal. I know it's tisane and not technically 'tea' as with sakuracha. It's springtime and sakuracha or sakura tea is my favourite tea drink with pastries like mochi esp. whenever visiting Japan during said season.
Love the idea of an herbal drink or steeped ingredient episode. Or maybe even herb episode generally!
For the Rooibos, I would definitely suggest you take out the teabag and lemon slice before you drink it. 😊 As for that rusk, it needs more time inside the hot drink, but I prefer it with coffee instead of tea. I find it detracts from the Rooibos tea taste. 😋

I've been a fan of London Fogs for over 15 years, they are so good! A twist on it that I would make for myself when I worked in a coffee shop was to add Almond syrup to it instead of vanilla. The flavors work so well together 😋

Rooibos is really good "tea", i especially enjoy it hot or cold in the summer months when it's humid heat.
Also, i recommend adding a single slice of ginger to the jujube+goji drink just for a little warming quality. the 3 things combined are (according to TCM practitioners) a good tonic for that time of the month for women, and an alternative to drinking it as a sweet tea, is to use those 3 things to boil chicken soup (or replace ginger with ginseng, and add glutinous rice, which becomes the Korean samgyetang). There's a good many variations to these ingredients. Dried Longan fruit(aka gui-yuan), aged dried mandarin peels, dried Hangzhou white chrysanthemum flowers(hang-bai-ju), dried monkfruit, peach resin, Female ginseng (angelica sinensis) roots, etc... are all ingredients for tea-like concoctions for various uses, some cooling, some warming, all soothing for different purposes. There's also a black variant of the goji berries (with more antioxidants), from higher elevation parts of China, that makes for a really soothing drink when i was traveling in Siberia at below 30C down to almost -40C. Now that stuff is always in my cupboards.

I think she's done more than one coffee and tea episode before. At least that's what I remember.
Frothing milk makes it taste sweeter and richer! I don't have a steam wand for frothing milk, but I've gotten very good at using my electric mini-whisk frother to get the right texture. I highly recommend using it with chocolate syrup for an especially decadent hot chocolate.
use the microwave after frothing. heat is imperative for this. i do this daily and make myself cafe au laits.
@@andreakirk2714 Yes, I should have said as much. I have a stainless frothing pitcher that I can heat on the range, which is how I get it warm. It's not _absolutely_ essential (and one manual frother I used to have strongly advised only using cold milk) but the fat holds onto the air much better when it's hot.

Hi, Beryl. As a South African, I recommend that you leave the rusk in the tea to soak for a minute or two. Then it should be nice and soft... but since you have the thicker Ouma rusks, you might need to soak them for a while. 😊

Hi Beryl! I commented on another of your videos when you'd said you couldn't find unsweetened Condensed Milk in your stores, but I forgot to say that it's marketed as "evaporated" milk. Both are simmered until 60% reduced. The difference in flavor and texture both come from the addition of sugar to the Condensed version. I LOVE tea, and when I add dairy, it's almost exclusively evaporated milk because it's shelf stable until you open it, can be stored in the can in your fridge (with a little topper on it), and it takes up minimal space. If you still want creamy tea, with less of a sweet kick, try doing half Condensed Milk and half Evap... or all evaporated and use your sweetener of choice. Love your videos, and was so thrilled to see your PBS series! You are a "must watch" for me every time 💞
If you don’t have a frother or steamer, an efficient way to get warm frothy milk is to whisk it while heating it on the stove!

My favorite tea is a double bergamot earl grey tea/lady grey with coconut creamer
You really have to try North German East Friesian Tea. You can get it in this Reagion. Its a special Blend of Black Tea ist served with creme and "Kluntje" ( a Sugar Crystal in size od a Sugar Cube) . The Way its Served makes it very special , my Grandpartens taught me how to drink it and I love it. Put a Raw Sugar crystal in a small Tea Cub , fill it with Tea and add a teaspoon of Cream into it. Dont stir it. You need a special spoon for it with a laddle. The magic is lat the Cream sink down to the ground a wait a bit. When made all right you have this classic "wölkchen" , Cloud in the Tea Cup. This helps to cool down the tea while the sugar dissolved. When the hot tea gets poored into the cub the sugar makes this typical cracking sound like glass. All Part of the ritual .
I personally love Cold Mate Tea and Hot Strong brewed Earl Grey Tea with Milch ( since I made Blubble Tea myself I have fallen in Love with Milk Tea)

I am interested to try the Indian tea, since I like doogh (Iranian salted yogurt drink), and enjoy salted drinks with meals. I think it sounds like it’d be good with snacks or finger sandwiches, or even bourbon cookies. 🤷🏻♀️

My two favorite black teas are Earl Grey and English Breakfast. For a novelty, from time to time, I like Lapsang Souchong (?), which is a smoked black tea.
For green tea, I like Gunpowder Tea and Jasmine Tea.
Oh yes, I totally agree with you, I am an 'old school' tea drinker.
You should try Black Lavender from Smith Teamaker if you enjoy all those, one of my favorites.
Hi Beryl, please try the Rooibos tea without sugar or lemon. It's the only way to really taste the amazing flavour. And if you are going to dunk rusks, you must do it for much longer.... 😂

My favourite teas are green teas usually from japan or korea (including matcha), on it's own or with brown rice, then pu erh,oolong,some black teas like earl grey or ceylon. I like just the pure tea not adding anything apart from water to it, except when I drink a breakfast tea or a chai (spiced tea) from time to time.
Then if the tea plant is not involved I enjoy a lot of herbal tisanes or infusions and grain ones like barley or corn ones.
Although I usually dont like fruit teas I might like the goji and date one from hongkong as I like those by its own and I loved a korean pear cinnamon and date one and also their traditional persimmon cinnamon and ginger one^^

The amount of London Fogs I had growing up!! We used a small amount of simple syrup, frothed warm milk and Earl Grey! A classic Canadian favourite for me!
when I was little, my mom would make some sweet soups that used rock sugar and she would take a small piece of the rock sugar to give it to us as candy and it was my favourite part! I also had no idea London Fog originated from Canada! I used to treat myself with the sweet drink when I was in college!

I want to put out an honourable mention for Hong Kong Milk Tea! Traditionally uses a blend of fine black tea grounds and coarse black tea leaves, is aerated 6 times through a silk stocking, and then evaporated milk is added, making the tea incredibly smooth!

Noon Chai I feel is one of those classic traditional preparations where all the women from extended families gathered in the afternoon to chat and while away time while doing other chores and make that brew (back in the day I assume, when women mostly were housewives).
It's interesting to hear about tethani! I'm from Sri Lanka and had no idea such a name exist for tea made with condensed milk. We sort of just say kadè thè (shop's tea. Since they use condensed milk instead of milk powder and sugar separately). Thank you for sharing all this.

That pink tea has the most beautiful subtle tea flavour. Sweet with just a tiny bit of salt to enhance the experience. It isn’t supposed to be bitter at all. You probably added too many tea leaves. My mother makes it every day and we love it even though I’m not a big fan of tea otherwise 😊
In Nepal they have butter tea which is also salted. Very energizing!

4:15 I’m Zimbabwean. I used to take care of goats back when i libed in the village. I think the goats used to feed on some wild rooibos plants and they dung would start smelling like it.
I cannot drink rooibos without thinking of goat excrement 😂. But its a staple in my country as well. My favourite is Tangada of course but thats just normal black tea

Ceylon tea is Sri Lankan tea.One of the best tea in the world.Ceylon is the name they gave us when British ruled us.I have tasted condensed milk tea it was amazing.But normally in Sri Lanka we usually drink milk tea.we can make it with tea and fresh milk or milk powder.

I feel like rusks goes better with milk coffee,you should try rooibos with milk as well...there's also flavoured rooibos available of the same brand you used in this video,which is really nice too.

What a great video to see just as I sat down to watch UA-cam with a large glass of milk tea! I accidentally oversteeped my hong cha, so I fixed it by adding honey and milk with some ice cubes. Truly, watching Beryl make and try different teas while I sipped on my own was a fun treat!

I've had rooibos and london fog but I'm excited to try the other recipes! I'm stunned that the pink colour of kashmiri chai comes from green tea and salt, I had seen it and wondered! Amazing.
Im from Greece and the tee we are making here is called "tsai" and it is closer to the last recipe. We use either leafs or smal flowers, whitch are collected from mountains. We boil them with water. When the water is hot enough we drain the leafs off. Serve with honey or milk or by its self and you are done. Of corse there is also the tee bag option but if we are talking about an actual tee recipe this is it. Fun fact we dont have tee partys, we drink tee for its deneficent propertys when we are sick to become better.

I drink black tea in the morning, and Rooibos all day. I love it. I never drink coffee, so tea is my thing. I occasionally have green tea, zinger tea, ginger tea, etc.

I love your tea episodes so much ♥I think Kashmiri Chai is such a treat. I first had it at Chai Guys in London and my mind was blown. I discovered green tea specifically labeled as Kashmiri green tea at my local Indian store and made it myself at home. Yes, it took quite some time but I had a lot of it afterwards and was very pleased with the result ♥ I highly recommend trying it!
