- The waves off the coast of Anglesey Island can be seen turning electric blue, with glow caused by a type of plankton as a defense mechanism to ward off predators. (courtesy: Kris WIlliams)
First time I saw this was sailing, thought I was going crazy. Beautiful.
Seeing these has been on my bucket list for years. I should really get to that
@@hccaeity4114hat causes this? I did not understand it
@gumballoopseggwobbleunderp8220 Its a type of plankton
In reality it is normally not that bright. The camera makes it more shining, same like northern lights
We’ve done this in the waters of Puget Sound up in the San Juan Islands. Used to take our kids up there, have them gather big stones then drop them off dock ramps in the night and watch the water light up as the rocks trailed to the bottom. We would also drop crumbs in the water and watch the light show stirred up by the fish as they fed on the crumbs. Fascinating!!
This is the most beautiful thing i ve ever seen❤
You should see dolphins swimming through it. So damn cool.
I don’t get around much either ❤
This happened to me once by accident it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen
I'm imagining a video of a sunset beach like this with a gorgeous horse prancing through the glowing water.
Earth is beautiful I’m glad I seen this in person in California this year.
Is it like that yr round? Where exactly is it?
Dear God, continue to put beautiful magick in our life, for us to feel amazing! Thank you
Bob's burgers brought me here.

Bioluminescent plankton & Noctilucent clouds! Amazing 👏👏👏
With noctilucent clouds as well, unbelievable.
Seen last night at Gwenver, Cornwall. Big Neon waves! ( :
I am so jealous !!! You're lucky ! Is this well known fact over there in Wales !!!?
this is sooo magical
Can’t believe this exists in the UK of all places 😂
Yeah, pretty much all places in not-so united kingdom are good looking apart from England
I live in California!
We just came back from Venice Beach!
It’s so magical , so beautiful. We were so lucky to see it .💙💙💙💙
Is that real
عاشقة الطبيعة yes:)
عاشقة الطبيعة it's real because of the planktons in the water. The planktons got light in itself make the water glow 🔥 science is awesome
@@mucit69 l want see that😍
@@mucit69 science shows how complicated everything around us is and it's really cool. But unfortunately a lot of people don't get it...
This is what I consider to be one of the most romantic places on the planet!
Why would anyone give thumbs down to this ? Weird!
i think the planktons are angry cuz people invade their space
Sorry so late to this, but I experienced it on Holmes Beach, FL and it changed my view on life. Thank you and 👏✌️
Is this occurring during a specific time of the year or can we witness this all year round? So beautiful!
Mother Nature's quite a showwoman isn't she?
When chemistry and biology makes a bond together and hit the environment differently 🌍
My daughter is in Galveston she sent a picture of it happening there
I think they want the krabby patty formula...
You planted grass?

It's like MOANA OF DISNEY, it's beautiful
No words for explanation 😮
On gotta tell mr krabs that plankton is trying to distract him from watching over the secret recepe
we have this in slovenian sea these days
Non Non Biyori: Vacation OVA brought me here C:
We could probably create an avatar type world if we'd focus on cool things instead of fake money and killing each other.
The Nature Gifted...❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️
Kleun cheewit bring me here😍😍😍
Leave the planktons alone, they went to college you know
The fact you can see the Noctilucent Clouds at the start in background is just wholesome🤗🤗🤗

This is Lakshadweep, India.❤
Yeh sab mere Allah ki badshahi hain subhan allah 😍😍
Almost unbelievable 😀
Sorry if this is obvious to everyone but what causes this effect?
So beautiful❤❤❤
What's the science behind it?
Noctiluca scintillans, a microalgae sometimes blooms. It's actually not that good, but it looks pretty. In terms of the biomechanics, you can look that up yourself. It's bioluminescence.
DUDE AMAZING 👏 I LOVE THAT 💘

Which part of california is it?
@@seho5382 it's in a place called the United Kingdom... slightly to the east from California :D 😂😂🤣
@@kevinklein4748 😅 oh....i thought some say its from california thanks though! Imma put uk in mah bucket list!
@@seho5382 it's supposed to be more common in the tropical regions, Tasmania for instance. The UK is still worth a visit...
@@kevinklein4748 :D
No need to throw rocks into the water. This places marine life at risk of being injured or killed. Not to mention encouraging the destruction of the environment. Plenty ways to agitate the water to get full effects without throwing rocks
What beach is this?
What does dallas fort worth have to do with this?
It looks like the water from moana
Bioluminescence is cool ❤
Oh my good
How do you witness this?.. what time of year ?..

Its found in a lot of places you tart@@robertdomino7057
Which one is true !??
Floyd YNWA Geez, calm down, he just didn’t know
It’s 100% real. It’s called bioluminescence. Just like fireflies, it’s just a different animal. This can happen practically anywhere if the plankton are pulled in by the current (however some lakes/seas always have it)
That’s in Wales? In the UK?
This is Lakshadweep, India.❤
@@aakashkumar3254
Then why does the title say it’s in Wales? I’m confused 😂
Your self d.i.y glow in the dark starfish, sea coral or stone at beach
Kekuatan plankton 😂
Wow I'm from in vaadhooisland sea of Star that not edit that a phenomenon little Plankton glowing phenomenon cool
My life is fish noe
Where is this sea
AMAZING HOW 🤔
Where it is?
Where is this in anglesey
It really is something scientific*.
🎯💥💯❤️🙏🏻
The hell !!! AMAZING !!! Is this safe !? Lol.
Spark _ it’s phytoplankton , completely harmless
It’s just as safe as stepping on grass. Lots of plants and animals glow and just like any plant or animal there are a lot that are perfectly safe like fireflies.
I wouldn’t go messing with an animal like a Jellyfish, but glowing plankton are perfectly safe.
In fact, if you’ve ever swam in still water, you’ve definitely touched plankton, these are just a species that glow at night.
This can happen occasionally in most beaches as long as it’s a livable environment if the plankton are pulled in by the current, however some places always have this.
There alive??
Location??
Красиво
Да бля!
Es falso, no se dejen robar y lo más importante, el riesgo es altísimo sin ninguna medida de seguridad
Can I get the location please

"To ward off predators".
Oh my goodness... These pretentious excuses your science so desperately needs to grip onto for its own sense of sanity and self-proclaimed credibility...
I guarantee you there are still fish swimming in those waters.
