My exact reasoning behind this purchase... I came from a 7 Plus I‘ve had since launch. There’s no doubt the 12 Pro Max is going to last a good 5 Years.

I have both and went back to the pro, the pro max is just clumsy and heavy. Great phone but the pro is right there in the sweet spot.

Good review! I really love to take good pictures from my iPhone X, there are a lot of good scenery here where I live in Boston. But that same good experience showed me that there is a big limit of what the iPhone X camera can do, specially for long distance shots and low light. So, it made sense for me to update to the new iPhone 12 Pro; it main selling feature is that new camera lenses. But at the same time I discovered about the mirrorless cameras that have been around for a few, they have gotten pretty good dealing with those same issues, have gotten cheaper and smaller. If you are like me looking for a better picture shooting experience, want better pics or just good scenery shoots to put in your Instagram the iPhone camera will ALWAYS underperform when you compare it with those cameras. And the main issue actually, is the price, you can get a very good mirrorless camera from a good brand like Canon, Sony or Nikon and they will be cheaper that this iPhone. And if you are like me, is very frustrating when you have the idea of this perfect pic in your mind and the iPhone camera don't delivers, and it never will. For this price range you can make the sacrifice of staying with your old iPhone for a bit more and put this investment towards a good camera (even a good point and shoot), having an extra gadget will be worth it.

Personally I just don’t like how big the Max is. I want the best phone in the pro size, so just the pro is what I’m going with.
I agree with you man but I’m forced to buy the iPhone 12 pro max because I want the better battery 🔋 better camera 📷 and screen size. The only thing I hate about big phones is when it’s in my pocket but I guess I’ll have to suck it up for the features it has. By the way I’m upgrading from an iPhone 7 Plus so an upgrade is much needed and deserved I had my phone since 2017.

I definitely went with the 12 Pro for that 2x zoom... ever since they took it off the cheaper phones I've missed it. I kinda wanted to go for the Max for the extra camera features and better battery life, but a 6.1-inch iPhone was already bigger than I wanted (I originally went for the 12 mini and loved that size), so I just didn't think I'd like the 6.7-inch screen on the 12 Pro Max.
I was also deciding between the 12 and 12pro. I got the 12 pro for the size and especially the build quality. The iPhone 12's aluminum body is bound to get more chips and scratches. I upgraded from the SE 1st gen. Hoping to keep the 12 pro for a long time.
At this point these videos are made so professionally they look like a whole company is working on each one

yeah, the pros are usually for an alternative screen size or camera shots but the 12 is good enough for avg users
yeah the iphone 12 is what the average person should use but the camera system, design, and lidar sensor of the 12 pro make a big difference to people who use their phone professionally.

I upgraded from 5s with 16GB to 7 Plus with 128GB. When I last backed up my phone before selling it, I had 19GB of storage left. 😂
I think 128GB is a sweet spot for anyone upgrading from a lower capacity. It’s not too small as the previous space variants, nor too big like the 512. 😂
Obviously though, you would know your requirements better.

I think the square space allocated for the camera was utilized well in the pro ... maybe it’s not that significant but come to think of the look on every space allocated in the phone... you could have the old camera space from old iPhones updated to just fit the 2 lenses rather than putting it on a square slot...
