Just an observation, but The Roc was discarded due to problems with collision detection, right? You can see it going a little too low at 2:52. The camera angle is set awkwardly high so that you can't see its face going through the ground most likely. The SOTC Team must have figured they could find a solution to the collision detection problem in time, hence why the Roc made it into this promo in the first place. Very interesting video!
It's so weird to see the early plans and game footage from Shadow of the Colossus. How it was originally going to be an online game, with 48 colossi, but from how it is today, I'm happy with the way it turned out.

one thing ive been thinking about when it comes to Phalanx, maybe it cant leave the desret area because it uses the heat to keep itself afloat? This is just something ive been thinking about so its not a super serious theory, but i feel it can explain why phalanx cant leave his area.
In the Ico pre-release footage, Yorda is quite different. With a horned head, tattooed arm, & lacking a etherial-white glow. She wears a T-shirt (red shoulders, light bottom) with dark (green, I think) shorts; quite similar base attire to that of Wander.Wander has a headband, poncho, belt, (just like Ico) and leather shinguards. Just design trivia.
Elements from this video (and others) shows the artistic similarities between the 3 games. The blue/white/grey/black color scheme of the colossi is shared with The Queen (Ico), The Chimera (The Last Guardian), & the a few cut Colossus health HUD icons.

The second part of the footage instead already takes place on the "UFO" arena and there is no Agro. P.S.: Why is your channel so popular among the spanish speaking demographic? XD
Hi Morlun, nice to see you here ; ) I didn't go into the details of each scene as I've covered all that before in my blog posts, and this video was about this rare DVD. Actually it's Portuguese not Spanish - but why? I have no idea, just turned out that way I guess ; )
Think it's because SOTC is a game that was extremely popular in Brazil ever since it's launch. A lot of people felt intrigued even to this day with how mysterious everything was. Every piece of info I discovered thanks to Nomad's channel, so yes I tend to believe this game's a hidden gem that finally got noticed after a while.
I reckon they probably went with more standard boss health bar because it matched the game's more minimal nature. Much thinner and takes up less screenspace. The old one is still badass, though.
i don't remember exactly what this means, but gaius is on the promo more than once first, it's in an open place, which is weird, but you would expect that of an old promo video for this game, everybody knows about colossi on the open field so, why is gaius trapped in his arena on his second appearance?
Woah; those were some nice looking paintings in the booklet: I'be never seen them before! Nomad, I think it's awesome that you have literally taken this game apart, piece by piece: just how much more do you think there is to find?
So, originally you could attack anywhere on a colossus as long as you're in the part that is highlighted on the bottom-left corner? Huh, I wonder why they changed that.
Nomad Colossus that's too bad. I wish they'd re-release shadow of the colossus someday with the missing colossus finally added. Particularly the spider I'd love to see.
I've thought for a long time that it would be cool to make a prequel, where they have someone in the forsaken land to basically keep people out, and having some of the original Colossi that got scrapped put back in, and having a story around them. Like the person guarding the forsaken land had to do something about them because they break loose from their arenas or something. After all, spider and Phoenix on their images look like they're in oddly put places. But idk. I just like to image what a sequel or prequel to this game could look like. I would love to fight the scrapped Colossi, although I can only hope they create another game like this someday.
1:36 "legions of collosal statues" obviously more than the final 16. Imagine if they had the ps3's hardware at the time. Most of them would of been fleshed out without worrying about memory limitations.
I know it's on old video and I dont know if it was mentioned but on the promo disc there are more then 16 colossus statues and they are not divided by anything and they all look the same. I just noticed it and I tought I would point it out.
the vitals position on valus changed after the release, one is the shoulders, and now its not there, which means they deleted that position of vital and let the other vitals be in their place
Now, while I most certainly have not played this game anywhere NEAR as much as you, Nomad, I was wondering if you would agree with what I have come to understand so far. (Watching your videos just recently has inspired me to play the game again... started this morning and just defeated the 7th colossus.) Wander's love, Mono has died, and he has heard of a place where he can go to save her. The Shrine in this forbidden place is indeed a powerful location where one could go to harness a great force, but it is forbidden for a good reason. Imposing statues act as a warning, giant representations of the beasts to come - an intentional deterrent delivered from those that constructed this place. The deity that speaks to Wander when he reaches the Shrine implores him to slay the colossi in order for Mono to be saved. I think that while it's true, Wander is also being deceived or at least taken advantage of to further the being's objective. These lands are forbidden, because within them lies a complicated prison, where this deity had been segregated into 16 parts and its power locked away inside the colossi, who act as sentinels to ensure that it is never released or allowed to coalesce again. (Many Japanese developers are deliberate in their use of references to real-world occult practices). Hints to this include the fact that the colossi seem to be somewhat unnatural, not only in size, but in construction. They are stony, grassy and have a statuesque appearance. Their glowing eyes emit an otherworldly light, and the use of sigils on key points of their bodies seal whatever power is present within them. They are not animals, rather massive golems. Their prisons/arenas add another layer to the intention that they should never be allowed to come together again. With each kill, Wander becomes more and more corrupted, acting as a vessel to return the deity's power back to the Shrine. While Wander's heart is true, he is unwittingly working to free an evil into the world, and may likely never have attempted to save Mono had he known. Who knows, perhaps that would not have stopped him from trying? In the end, he must give his life, the ultimate sacrifice, and Mono with her life restored, escapes, where the Forbidden Lands are sealed forever away. What do you think?
You might have been asked this question numerous times already. But i need to know it: are you gonna upload any content regarding The Last Guardian? Any plans at all?
My plan is to - yes, however, I'll have to see if there's anything I can do that is unique - that is not like every other Last Guardian video that will be pouring out on UA-cam.
I do wish there were more colossi revealed in this. They also should have recorded the battles of the unused colossi because I just wanted to see them and all of their glory.
from what i read, Roc was the only one with gameplay footage. the others were either scrapped before any gameplay footage was made or they never got the chance to due to time.

2:47 this is rare raw footage of the roc
the finisher Can you smell what the roc is cooking?
Acituanbus:GLaDOS eddition first-off why are you everywhere and secondly, no I can’t smell what he’s cooking. Is he making fries cuz I want some.
When it comes to the music at 0:31 I keep thinking I'm going to hear Agro neighing. :)
The heads up display looks more better here than in the actual game. 😂
Where would one come across this disk in it's day?
You might have been asked this question numerous times already. But i need to know it: are you gonna upload any content regarding The Last Guardian? Any plans at all?
My plan is to - yes, however, I'll have to see if there's anything I can do that is unique - that is not like every other Last Guardian video that will be pouring out on UA-cam.
Nomad Colossus Thanks for your fast reply.
