Possibly during the great schism, as a smart Grunt ( Like YapYap ) seeing this the perfect opponity to freeing themselves from shackles of Covenant and kick off the second Unggoy rebellion when Covenant is busy dealing its own civil war to focus on Grunts, in hopes that they will be treated better by humanity.

I enjoyed the video and found it to be a realistic, if somewhat lucky scenario. Guilty Spark only firing a local pulse is the only saving grace for this timeline, as colonies/people far away enough from Halo were still spared, but I cant even begin to imagine the pandemonium both humanity and the covenant would be in a situation like this, where entire planets just...drop dead. At the very least, humanity wasn't set back to square one, just...square 3. As for the video itself, I agree that it was rather exposition heavy, but it does answer the question in a clear and concise manner and thats all that can be really asked for, though I would have rather had this be a two-part video, so we could elaborate and more character-driven events such as Preston Cole's begrudging surrender, Young John vs Rippa Moramee, etc. If it were real, I wish I could've been a fly on the wall listening to Preston Cole speak with the Prophets, or listen to Johnson try and convince the Elites not to fire the weapon, etc.

What if humanity’s first contact with the Covenant was done after Covenant ships chased a flood infected Ship to Harvest, in this timeline the Covenant are trying to stop the flood after it broke out and are so busy with that they can’t do the war of Annhilation against humanity in this timeline and they can’t really do a war of subjugation either so they seek to Ally with Humanity which proves to be extremely helpful as humanity is the reclaimers and thus it gives them hope that they can now stop the flood.
I feel the relationships between humanity and the jiralhanae wouldn't be as bad, with the latter having some moderate respect as canonically they love humanity's "violent" weapons like shotguns, rocket launchers, macs and nukes as for other details: -smart ai would be banned, or at least heavily restricted (would add up they'd experiment with other species's brains earlier to create ai like Iratus in canon) -some unsc ships would be retrofitted with tech to the point they would look similar to covenant ships -mjolnir would be far more advanced and different appearance wise, it would likely be similar to helioskrill class mjolnir, though I feel with covenant tech, the prophets would make sure to install some backdoors to make spartans compliant -with access to information about the spartan ii program, there would be more and better prelates though it would be a double-edged sword, as the remnants of the unsc having access to forerunner/covenant biotechnology, the spartan iiis would be far superior than in canon -oni would aid the insurrection by giving them information and technology

Just saying, in your timeline you can go back to Bungies story for Halo or make your own twist on it. Have everyone find out what the meaning reclaimer for humanity truly meant. Humanity is Forerunner, Humanity are the children of for Forerunners inheritors of all that they left behind. Before the rings were first fired the Forerunners had set both a activation control room to all the other rings and the Ark the main part of the giant facility sending biometric signals out around earth slowly influencing the evolutionary path of Earth to create Forerunners on Earth all located under what once was New Mombasa. side note: the idea of the Humans becoming Forerunners this was is similar to Crabs that evolve the be nearly the exact same despite being on opposite ends of the world and having no connection to one another. They in practice and in essence are the same, but made in different ways. My small inclusion to the story if interested: After so long of Earth being excavated the great facility had been recently found, but only a select few knew and ONI would insure it stays this way. All Effort was made to cover up this finding. As ONI sent in specialized teams both to divert attention and to gain access to the facility. This time they would be careful as they know something had happened at the Ring, not knowing what had happened they didn't want to repeat what some started to call the cleansing. Just as teams would make the effort to translate everything precisely deep space messages would start flooding networks as if they had all been sent around the exact same time. The schism and the firing of the halo left everyone weak, but just as fast as people found out something wrong had happened at the Ring, messages also began to pour in. Most were from humans about the events that had happened, the Flood, the Schism, even some of the events around the control room, one of those very messages was a video showing the battle in space, the one recording saying his goodbyes to his loved ones in case he too dies. Moments later the video pans over to the Ring as it began to light up and as a blast of light went out the recording device dropped to the ground. The video goes on for hours perhaps days, but a faint blue light shown on the metallic walls and floor can be seen, before one could hear "oh, another recorder, they do enjoy documenting everything they can. A shame my makers children and so many others were lied to by such a degree, and in their last moments tied to send so many messages out to others." The device gets wrapped in energy as it pans over to Guilty Spark. "Like the others I shall insure this too is sent out, perhaps someone will indeed see them. Perhaps not." The video ends as a Sangheili Shipmaster and his lieutenants sit in silence after watching the video. The Shipmasters eyes fixed on the Forerunner AI before it was broken by one of the lieutenants "What does it mean by "lied to by such a degree" what tricks are this." The human after waiting for the lieutenant to disengage his energy sword continues. "I believe we have been told half and part truths, that we do not have all the information the Prophets have. I will show that my kind can be better starting here and now, we have never truly put our faith in the "Journey" and we have been working to one day fight and be free from the Covenant. But from what we have learned from Forerunner messages and documents there is of great importance revolving around the Rings and the Flood. And it all starts with getting to that Ring and finding that AI." A lieutenant speaks "You speak out of place human, you do not command us." Rtas 'Vadum then speaks "As Shipmaster I here by order our ships to the Rings coordinates, it will take us some time, but I too believe what the humans says to be true. Something has been clouding us for too long now and with the Brutes being placed on such a high degree I fear something far more sinister is taking place. With so much that could burn around us we must stand and put the flames to rest. Our fight is to the Ring, with the Brutes and those who follow their blinded ways." Rtas, walks over to the human "And we will find what secrets have been kept from us."
The prophets didn't view the humans as some key left behind by the forerunners. They viewed them AS the forerunners, because that's what humans were--descendants of ancient humans--the forerunners. It's the entire reason they declared genocide on them, because if the rest of the covenant found out, it would render their entire religion void.
I think a part two that is about a ONI subplot to cause a civil war in the covenant that uses the spartan 3’s the cripple all the member species of the covenant save the Unsc plus them building several infinity class ships in secret
