Listen to a very young Ted with the Amboy Dukes. Their hit Journey to the Center of the Mind helped define what psychedelic rock sounded like. Plus you can hear the formative sounds of Ted's future power guitar.
No matter what you think of Ted's politics, you can't deny he's a great guitar player and his shows are fantastic. There's a reason he's known as the motor city madman. I personally have no problem with his politics. He's entitled to his opinion just like anyone else. He's not a politician, he's a rock star. Why would you care what he's got to say about any issue.
I'm so glad you're doing the studio cut, which is what was on the radio all the time and what was on the album. It was an iconic album cover as well. You have to see it. That was in so many people living rooms and party spots and all that. Look forward to it❤
There will be a lot of comments that people don't like Ted because of his political views and he does alot of hunting. If he has something to say, he will say it. Whether you agree or disagree with him, don't let that stop you from enjoying his music. I feel people who don't like him are just mad because they can't articulate what they want to say the way he can.
Ted Nugent is a one of a kind performer! I saw him live many years ago, in New Mexico, and he managed to offend half the crowd with his remarks! No one left, so I guess the music won out!
Just what the Dr ordered, Out of control, Stormtrooper, snakeskin cowboy, Writing on the wall many many great songs by Nugent. One of the best rock guitarist ever.
I saw that tour also in Atlanta. Some asshole threw a drink at the stage and hit Ted right in the face. At first he kind of brushed it off but then went Ballistic.
No, it's not about the rare but real cat scratch fever that you can get from cats, it's about women and sex. I liked this when it came out, but a year or so later I had moved more towards Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, The Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Styx, Steely Dan, Supertramp, Jethro Tull and other rock.
Story is that he was playing the riff at home while practicing and his wife came up with the name. She said that's what it sounded like he was playing.
Saw him at Monsters of Rock in HS with AC/DC, Aerosmith and Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. Had to drag our friend around who did a little too much partying before the concert. Revived for the show. 🙂 Awesome concert. Came swinging in in a loin cloth like a cave man and kicked a large fake boulder around the stage before proceeding to rock.
I seen Ted twice in the 70’s. First time was in Atl Ga in the Omni in 1976 he was the opener for Black Sabbath and the second time in 1977 when he was he was headlining on when this album came out with foreigner and Mahogany Rush opening up for him in the summer around July remember. The Motor City Madman. Guns and Guitars made this man who he is today; Ted Nugent owns a 300-acre hunting ranch in western Jackson County, Michigan, called Sunrize Acres. He and his family use the ranch as a part-time residence.
He was my first concert in 1981. I was 13 years old and it was probably the loudest concert ever!!!!! Didn’t know what to expect, but it was a memorable concert for sure!!!!! Been a fan since!!!!! The Motor City Madman!!!!!
This song was Ted Nugent's one and only Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song did peaked at the #30 spot during the summer of 1977. Some music critics said that this song has one of the greatest guitar riffs of all-time. Definitely a banger of a song indeed!!!
Just so you know, in February 1979 my mother asked me what I wanted for my 13th birthday. I told her I wanted Ted Nugent Weekend Warriors! She got it for me on 8-track! Venom Soup is a killer tune! Thank you Mom, I miss you!♥️ Later I picked up State of Shock on vinyl, another banger!👍
One thing I can say he was the loudest concert I ever went to I couldn't hear for 2 days my ears rang for days I was worried at one point it felt like a axe splitting your head after his show guys no joke
I am so glad that you mentioned Van Halen. This all happened in my prime time, I was 16 back then, and I've seen everything with my own eyes. People mention this or that, but for me this is the first "Heavy Metal" song. In the past, music was based on blues. This is the first hit with screaming, thin sounding (means lacking bass notes) guitar, deprived of blues influence. The whole look is heavy metal look, those sharp (in tune with screaming guitar) fonts, this unnatural hairstyle (I don't know the English term), this artificially trashed outfit, everything on you artificial, everything screams, without any pathos, just hollowly screaming into your face every possible way. Black Sabbath were nothing like that, their hairstyle was natural, their jeans was naturally worn out, their music was full of blues influences, this was hard rock, not screaming heavy metal. Of course, heavy metal improved, and today's musicians don't look like Barbie dolls, and now they try to find their roots in something which was more serious, like Black Sabbath. But the sad true is that their real roots are in the Ted Nugent style
Lol. Another one from this same Cat Scratch Fever album by "the Nuge" that is a total banger, and there are even more for sure on this album, and it wasn't as big of a hit and as Cat Scratch Fever, but quite the fan favorite for a long time and it just absolutely blazes: You talked about energy in this one? Wang Dang Sweet Poontang totally blazes. Short and to the point.
Been to 7 Ted Nugent concerts. Great shows. I would suggest his instrumentals. Over the decades he has wrote many instrumentals and no one writes like he does. Home Bound or Hibernation would be a good start.
The motor city madman ! The last concert I ever went to was a Ted Nugent concert at the New York State fair many years ago, and was probably the loudest concert I’ve ever attended.
Was there ever a better title for a live album than "Intensities in 10 Cities?" Uncle Ted is great. He would sometimes swing onto the stage in a loin cloth and shoot flaming arrows across the stage.

"Free for all" is another great Ted Nugent song
I love seeing the smirk on someone’s face when they begin to realize what the song is about.

Ted Nugent is from Detroit. One of his nicknames (my favorite) is The Motor City Madman! 😂

As a teenage boy in the late 70s ... Ted was THE guy....
They had a Cat Scratch Fever pinball machine in bars, video arcades and bowling alleys back in the 70s. Had that same picture of Uncle Ted on it.
