Ted Nugent plays dirty rock guitar better than anyone else.
Bull. Fucking. Shit. Listen to more music.
And don't get me wrong. He looks dirty, like he smells. Dirty hippie. Anything but.
Peter Frampton is very good too with the dirty guitar.
Nah, I absolutely love Ted's playing but Angus and Malcolm from AC/DC are the filthiest. And I know a couple of guys who prefer the Reverend, Billy Gibbons.
He plays dirty rock guitar very well but that's a big bold statement. We all have our opinions though...
Uncle Ted has been clean and sober for 77 years. An enigma in the rock scene, he never did drugs or smoked. He has been playing professionally since 1959, (@ 12 years old). He is an avid hunter, conservationist, and extremely generous. Agree or not, he is political and has no filter when expressing his opinions. His on-stage antics were over the top and earned him the title "Motor City Madman". Swinging onto stage in a loincloth and shooting flaming arrows are just a couple of examples.
He is not in the HOF, (due to his politics), but doesn't care. He stopped touring last year but still plays and records. Other songs to check out are "Wango Tango", and "Great White Buffalo" to start. Also, The Damn Yankees with "Can You Take Me Higher".
This song is not about a person but Ted throwing the "middle finger" to the record company for trying to control him.
He is one of those pro military types who crapped his pants to stay out of Nam. He is a disgusting human
how is it possible to be clean for 77 years when hes 75?
Well, there is no need for me to even leave a comment, because you said everything I was going to say!
You said everything I wanted to say.
Yep for sure Uncle Ted is the MAN you said everything that both of these two young people need to know so now they can check out his other songs now
I don't always listen to Ted Nugent, but when I do, so do my neighbors.
DAM RIGHT!!!!!
….and the police too
100%
Ha. Mine too 😅
Uncle Ted is not only musician, he is an avid hunter and has his own hunting show “Spirit of the Wild”
He's got a show on Real America's Voice, ' Spirit campfire '. He takes it right to the lunatic left. RAV unleashes him completely untethered.
Derrick St, Holmes is the vocalists on this track. Great singer guitar player himself!
Ted did the spoken part. " Sometimes you gotta start high..."
Yes@@domeshine69
Stranglehold is an awesome song to listen to as you roll on down the highway especially at night
Yeah, but it’s Free for all that’ll get you ticketed on that highway!
Or getting stoned in the shed 😂😂
Ted is the Motor City madman .
Ted sais it the way it is - doesn't mince words.
Also... Terrible Ted and "The Ten Fingers of Doom"
Sweaty teddy
The bassline gets stuck in my head for hours every time I listen to this song. 😎
As a bass player myself that's one sick ass bass line
It’s a sin that The Motor City Madman is not in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame! True icon!!
Ted will never be in the rock hall of fame or even want to be there.
The r&r hall of fame is a joke.
@@DavidWilkerson-q1t Been in the music industry all my life. It's just another group of really rich people, being really rich people. Ted has never thought like that. He just plays music. He's done more for the community than most people even know about. Has done so for over a decade. People these days only look at someone's politics to judge a person. There's entire towns that wouldn't even exist today if it wasn't for that man. It's the only reason he got into politics in the first place. Really rich people destroying peoples lives.
Stranglehold is a Hard Rock Anthem. First song I learned on Guitar. Derek St. Holmes is singing in the first half and Teddy is singing in the second. Great Reaction!
First song! Bringing back memories!
Ted only did that little paragraph after his solo.
Scott is correct. I’ve seen Teddy multiple times some with Derick and some with Ted singing everything and the shows with Derick singing are far better.
@@michaelhillmann3460 Derek has a better voice
@@michaelhillmann3460 seen him 6 yrs. In a row, when he’d do the annual Whiplash bash in Detroit back in the day.
His first group was the Amboy Dukes.
1971 I had just got out of The Navy. Third day out. Went to see him in concert. Was walking around before show. Somehow I walked into the bands dressing room. Guards caught me going in. Took me out. Uncle Ted stopped them. Told them I was there to see him. Had me come over and sit next to him. He then began wanting to know all about me. He was a wonderful man. Plain and simple. Told me about himself. No drugs. No alcohol.
He's a man's man. Shoots straight.
Ted Nugent was also the guitarist for Damn Yankees
I have mentioned Ted Nugent in the past!! He is a true Icon!!! The Motor City Madman!!!! Love Uncle Ted!!!!
1st song my son, at 12, learned to play.
He's now a guitar major in college and the lead guitarist in a known Nashville rock band at 19.
Uncle Ted rocks. This is his best lp.
In his 70s and more fit, smarter and better guitarist than most young 'uns.
Have seen him 3x.
One of the rare rockers that never did drugs or drink booze. He's great to see in concert.
MAGA, too 🎉
Ted was a 70's rock guitar legend. When he picked up a guitar, Ted and the guitar were like extensions of each other and the magic started. Catch Ted on 1980's late night talk shows where he would take over the narrative and just overpower the show. This was before Ted's unfiltered viewpoints got him banned from TV. When the line rolls "some people think they going to die someday, I got news you never got to go" is pure Ted, full of the power of facing life head on, no substances clouding his mind, and full of the joy of life. One of the most positive artists doing his own thing.
Ted got so much notoriety for his stage antics (thank God he stopped wearing the loincloth) and his politics that sometimes people forget to LISTEN. The guy can really play the guitar!
@wildmouse5888 Ted is a true patriot and his politics are spot on.
Ted Nugent gets so much hate for his political views but his music and guitar skills is so underrated.
This song is played by the soldiers of the American military as they deploy into battle to get them in the right mindset. Ted is a real patriot who loves his country and speaks without a filter, which rubs some people the wrong way. The times I’ve seen him live the place goes nuts when he plays this song.
Yes, Ted is a true patriot. I don't always see eye to eye, but we'd both defend our right to opposite views. Man can he play guitar!!!
No, he's a fake patriot. You need to check out the story of what all he did to keep from being drafted during the Vietnam WarEra.
He was about as "patriotic" as Trump was back then.

Don't know how that got posted 3 times!
The great white buffalo !!!
One of the absolutely coolest songs ever. Also a good time for the radio station DJ to take a smoke break back in the day. Also the sort of song that to use as your personal soundtrack. Play this in your head, and imagine you're moving in slow motion as you step out of the car and into the club.
Not only is Ted a great solo artist, but he later was in a band named "Damn Yankees" that had numerous hits!!!!!!
This song was about the record industry and dealing with them, as per usual with Rock it's written with a double entendre.
A side bit of information about Ted in the eighties is about his mom. Ted’s mom became somewhat a celebrity among the young rock fans. She lived in suburban Chicago and wrote a column in a monthly music related publication called The Illinois Entertainer. Everyone affectionately called her Ma Nugent. I believe her column was called Ma Nugent’s Mail. In the column she would answer all sorts of questions. At concerts and different events where we would show up once recognized be treated with great fondness by the young fans.
It's been said already but I will say again, Damn Yankees - Come Again. Ted plays lead guitar, video shows his playing up close.
You should try "Writing On The Wall" and "Together", both from his 1976 album "Free-For-All". As an added bonus, none other than MEATLOAF sang lead vocal on those two incredible songs! Enjoy!
Ted has a great catalog. I'd suggest Just What The Doctor Ordered next. Keep up the good work guys.
His first band Amboy Dukes - Journey to the Center of the Mind is a great track.
Dam, wish they did Cat Scratch Fever, his signature song. Or Wang Dang Sweet Poontang. But this is my 3rd favorite song by him.
Ted is a dish best served live.
Saw Ted in the mid 70's. AC/DC opened up for him. At the time we barely heard of AC/DC and Ted was a pretty big name. We became AC/DC fans that night. It wasn't that Ted was bad or anything. He was everything we expected. It was just that AC/DC was better. But it's still fun listening to him now.
Uncle Ted is a treasure y’all should also checkout “wango tango” it’s another good one
That's when he started screaming
@@stevenseul361 you must have missed Double Live Gonzo. Give Motor City Madhouse a listen. Well before Scream Dream.
Ted is best served up live where here he thrives in his element, the spotlight. Raw energy, no one plays louder than Ted. Check out tracks off the Double Live Gonzo album. 🔥
Ted Nugent is The Motor City Madman! 'Stranglehold' gives us a little taste of his guitar playing character. Try "Cat Scratch Fever", "Free For All", or his live version of 'Wang Dang Sweet Poontang' from his album 'Double Live Gonzo!' (1978).
Ted is one of the great guitarists. He has an amazing solo with the Damn Yankees on the song Come Again. I’ve never seen anyone’s fingers move so fast. Do yourselves a favor and check that one out
Got to do Cat Scratch Fever - Live next, Uncle Ted needs to be seen
The reason it sounded fresh was it was real music. They make 8 speaker surround sound now but it is all computers. The 70s music was better for the same reason muscle cars were better than today's cars. Pure, raw and powerful!
Yep everything you stated is true
Everyone’s favorite crazy uncle, Uncle Ted! 🤘🏻🤪🤘🏻
My favorite tune from Ted. He is a guitar great! Watch him live.
I'm 53 now. I remember back when I was in my early twenties and I had a 75 K5 Blazer. Living in the desert of Tucson Arizona. I used to cruise empty Sandy washes at 85 mph with the song blasting
Before Ted went sols he was part of a band " Amboy Dukes" Journey to the center of the mind Great white buffalo, baby please dont go, are some other great songs from Ted.
Nothing like some Uncle Ted to start ypur morning.... Lets F'in GOOOOOOO
Ted loves his solos. LOL
Clearly! 😂
@@barsandbarbells2022 😂
Saw him live in 1976 in Portland OR at the Paramount Theater. The loudest concert I was in. He came swingjng in with his loin cloth from the fourth high stack of Marshalls. It took me over 8 hours to start getting my hearing back. Loved every second of an old homie, I'm from Detroit too.
Ted live, is something nobody will forget, I have seen him twice in my younger years, and they don’t call him the motor city madman for nothen
Fred Bear is my favorite Uncle Ted tune.
Ted never plays the solos the same way. So every live performance is a new experience.
It's not Ted......its UNCLE Ted to you! 😎
Or sweaty Teddy
Sweaty Teddy to the rest of us!
Uncle Ted!!! Unleashing the spirit of the wild!!!
I believe this song was directed at the music label industry at the time. What an intro!
Uncle Ted was and still is a rock legend. It's a crime that he's not in the HOF.
You know why he's not
@@zackster1973 I sure do. It should be about the music, not the politics.
Because he is an Ahole
@Tessmage_Tesseraoh just because he disagrees with them🙄
@@rebcritzer4857 I guess people don't understand that Ted has been an outcast of the music industry his whole career. Even this song here was flipping off the industry. Too long for the radio, becomes the most played songs on every rock station across the country for years. Even if they voted him in I doubt he'd show up or even really care. He's not an industry type guy, never has been. He told them all to kiss off in the 60's.
Two amazing lead guitarists playing over an amazing rhythm. Saw Ted in 76 at McNichols arena in Denver. Blew me and my friends away.
Ted STILL records and tours well into his 70s. Rock on uncle Ted, gonzo and motor City madman.
Great song from a great musician and even better Patriot.
He's a nutter now The uncle that you hidden away in the attic
@@stevenseul361because he hates what has become of America 🙄
@@stevenseul361 Only a Leftist POS would say that.
Brother Ted is a Patriot
He performed in Montgomeey , Alabama this song. It was around 1976 or 1977. After the concert , my ears rang for three days. I actually thought I new what loud was, untill that concert. One of my favs.
Ted is not the lead singer on this song. It's the other guitarist, Derek St Holmes doing the lead vocals. Ted does sing the part "Sometimes you gotta get higher ... I got news you never to to go".
Another classic songs are "Need You Bad", "Free For All" and "Cat Scratch Fever". Especially, "Free For All" and "Cat Scratch Fever" are sung by Ted himself. He was a member of The Amboy Dukes, before solo career.
Great first song from Ted. More of a deeper dive. Didn't get the airplay that Cat Scratch got. Ted compares well with the best players.
Loudest concert I ever attended was Ted Nugent in the late 70's Little Rock, AR. Ted starts the show swinging out on a vine in Tarzan shorts with a Racoon tail hanging out. My ears rang for days afterwards.
Every time I hear this song, especially the beginning, I always think about the legendary wresting family, "The Von Erichs." This was the song they played while they made their ring entrance back in the 80's. That family suffered so many unimaginable tragedies, too. 6 sons, 5 of which all died so young. So sad. May they rip. 😢
You need to react to this live ..Ted is a monster🔥
He is known as the Motor City madman he is from Detroit, he has many great tunes! "Great White Buffalo" is an awesome tune,it's about how the early settlers in the U.S. almost drove the Buffalo to extinction!
White buffalo is a Amboy Dukes tune with Ted as a youngster on lead guitar in the late sixties. Killer!
@@timkeane7469 thanks killer
Rumor has it that masterpiece was done in one take. And fyi, your neighbors would love to listen to The Motorcity Madman with ya.
One of my favorite songs to listen to at night while cruising with the top & doors off the Jeep. I just crank up the volume & cruise down the rural highway.
Superb cruising song. Eats up cross-country miles like few others.
Cookin!!!! Come on, come on up.
Saw him open for KISS and I was physically and mentally worn out after he finished out his portion of the show. What a show that was that night.
Seen him four times over the years, and nobody shakes the rafters like the "Motorcity Madman"!!
Saw him live 46 years ago, his motto was if it's to loud you are to old to rock and roll. Didn't mind had ear plugs in was warned before the show. 😁
I like "Queen of the Forest" and "Motor City Madhouse" from Ted Nugent as well. Saw him live in 1976 with the group UFO as the opening act. It was most excellent.
Looking for stuff way ahead of its time? You really should check out the STUDIO VERSION of "Victim of Changes" by Judas Priest.
I ❤ Ted
Ted only sang in the middle of the song ("Sometimes you wanna get higher..."). Derek St. Holmes sang everything else.
Doesn't matter how popular Cat Scratch Fever or Wango Tango are, this will ALWAYS be Uncle Ted's signature song.
Ted is a musical Legend, really big in the 70's and 80's. Ted was as also the Damn Yankees in the 90's had several hits
I like that bass riff
I grew up listening to Uncle Ted, Love his hard hitting music, And Stranglehold is one of my favorite songs.
But there are others,
Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, Cat Scratch Fever, and Great White Buffalo.
I have seen Ted twice in concert. First time was in 1976 in the Omni in Atl ga he opened up for Black Sabbath the second time was 1977 where he had Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and Foreigner as opening acts
He hardly ever used any peddles with his guitar most of his effects were just him manipulation the guitar. His Gibson Byrdland and Marshall stacks. Nugent is easily in the top 5 rock guitarists of all time. You can also see him doing this song live and he nails it. For my money it was always either Nugent, Skynyrd, or Eric Clapton.
Wow you guys don’t know of Uncle Ted. Need to check out Cat Scratch Fever, Dog Eat Dog, and Great White Buffalo. He was also in the band The Amboy Dukes when he was real young and had a pretty big hit with the song Journey To The Center of Your Mind.
The guitar on any Nugent track is fire but those drums are top shelf as well.
memories of this song in high school when it came out.....some great memories being wasted and listening to this with its jaw dropping guitar solos...
2 bad ass things were created in 1975. This song and yours truly…
People stating that they're bad ass usually aren't. I am a lethal bad ass but dont need to tell people cuz they already know.
@@Wolverines4ever-sl1js I was being silly just for a funny comment. Just because you called me out though.
Marine, wrestler, 6 years bouncing. Sometimes people just tell the truth.
@@michaellynch9550commendable for sure....thank you for your service to our country. All state wrestler and football player during high school in Michigan. Four year starter for The University of Michigan football team, 12 yrs BJJ practitioner Black Belt. I was kinda being funny as well 🤝
Derek St. Holmes gets the credit for the awesome vocals. Ted does come in at the outro and does the harmony also. You also have to thank Phil Spectre for create songs that resemble live music, thus the longer mid section.
BARS & BARBELLS, FIRE VIDEO!
Motor City Madman... Saw Nugent 4 times in Tucson
Ted...HIGHLY SKILLED.
For a different flavor of Ted Nugent try "Together", one of my favorite songs by him.
I can remember growing up in the Kansas City area, our radio stations didn't play any really good current rock, Stranglehold being one of them that didn't get in air time in '75, but when it got late at night we could pick up a radio station from Little Rock, Arkansas, and would get stoned and jam out on this song while cruising State Ave in KCK from Peter's Drive-in to Smacks burger joint ... ahhh the 70's, what a great time to be a teenager
In the late 70s , Ted Nugent was the largest selling live act in the world for 3 years in a row.
Ted was so underrated. He really was own and dirty !!!!
I still get chills listening to the opening of this! The Motor City Madman!
You go girl! Sam love how you let the music take u away. Closing ur eyes and move to the sound. Great reaction Sam
You both bring new life to these songs for me!!
Ted was one of the very LOUDEST guitar players, going from 6 x Fender Twin amps (each with 85 watts & 2x12"" speakers) on top of 6 Fender Dual Showman Speaker cabinets (with 2 x 15" speakers,) to Fender Super Twin amps (with the same speakers, but now 180 watts each...) He was banned from playing outdoors in Kansas City, due to noise complaints! While I'd seem him play live a number of times, one time I had to work that evening, and he was playing at KC's Royals Stadium: I was able to hear him quite well, and he was pretty loud from more than 12 miles away! He also played a Gibson Byrdland, which was designed for jazz players, and it was nearly uncontrollable due to the wild feedback caused by high stage volumes and the hollow body. Ted is an expert at controlling the feedback and even using it in his music. Stranglehold is from his first album, which is awesome, with vocals by Derek St. Holmes, but on his second album, "Free for All," on several songs, the artist Meatloaf is the lead singer, and he was just spectacular on that album!
My favorite of his is Paralyzed.
Ted saw live. Loved it....Higher then a kite a group of us were....
This is one of the first songs I learned on guitar (ages ago). Always loved this.
Just dig. “Uncle Ted”
He was an Absolute madman on stage, who just played it load n proud
There are some who don’t like him because he’s an patriotic America - dosen’t drink doesn’t do drugs doesn’t smoke and the whiny buzz kills can’t deal with that.
One hell of a guitarist who should be in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame
It's always interesting to hear non musicians critique music... The differences of how they hear, process, perceive and consume music is wild and often very intriguing to me.. Iove you guys..!
A must is "Damn Yankees" supergroup. Consisting of singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw of Styx, singer/bassist Jack Blades of Night Ranger, guitarist Ted Nugent of the Amboy Dukes, and drummer Michael Cartellone
Nice reaction. little factoid, this is the number 1 song used for introductions at MMA fights.
Uncle Ted, the ultimate jam guitarist.
