I never thought about using a stiffer pick when playing shout/praise music! I’m a 30 year experienced keyboard/organ player who using this lil time off due to Covid to learn guitar. I just bought picks yesterday and I bought a “fender” medium thickness pick. I figured it was good for everything but I see I was wrong! Thanks so much for the instructions!
The key is relaxation and moving your pick as little as needed to get the desired effect. The shorter the path and more supple the arm, wrist, and fingers are the more speed is possible. Don’t go fater than you can play relaxed and clean. Practice daily, not 8 hours twice a week. 20 minutes a day for two weeks will get you better results. Obviously if you can consistently practice long hours it’s good, but don’t burn yourself out.
I'm a church worship leader (in Canada, where there's a lot less gospel/funk sound, much to my frustration). I'm also a jazz trumpet player. I find it VERY FUNNY that all of these licks are in flat keys, because in churches up here you will NEVER hear a song played in a flat key. Everything is in G, D, C, E or A or B. Whenever I bring something in Eb or F or Bb people get upset hahaha
I have just discovered you but I definitely subscribed to your channel And I am going to be sharing you on my Facebook page to put you out there in my neighborhood you are teaching some good stuff.
@@TheeChurchGuitarist I am in Tallahassee ,Florida. I have been playing Bass for over 30years . I am currently singing and playing with gospel group called (The Brightside Spiritual Singers ). I have now been learning lead guitar 🎸 because the group was without one. I can hear the guitar parts but now I have to build coordination and learn chords 😅
Those are some clean and bubbly sounding skanks you're doing @ a Category 5 bpm. I'm trying to find some single string praise break ideas to outline those same chords you are playing. You have a video tutorial on that? I'll Cash App you if you do.
That’s often a trouble spo. The organ Leslie and the bass cabinet can be very loud on stage. I usually turn my amp to me (backshooting). That will make sure you can hear yourself.
Always remember we must repent of our sins (sin is transgression The Law Of Yahuah The Father in Heaven. The Law are The Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy). We must repent of our sins and Have Belief On Yahusha The Messiah. HE Died and Rose three days later so that we can be forgiven of our sins! Come to HIM Today. Much love!
Thanks for helping me. I’m glad someone finally told me the chord name. Your comment made me go and make sure I know the chords before I go live so that I wouldn’t steer anyone wrong!

Have your sound ever clashed with the Organ loud playing & how do you handle the situation Sir. 🙏💕 Praise GOD 4 ever more..
All the time. So I play with my amp turned towards me. In churches that aren’t set up with inner ear monitors it can be loud and challenging.
Praise the Lord!!!! I need those drum tracks, how do I pay you for them?
You’d be better off going on UA-cam and finding shout tracks and paying for UA-cam premium so you can download them for use without WiFi
Do you have a video of you playing I know it was the blood?
