Hi Jessica, a biologist here, there shouldn't be an issue for the girls if the animals are healthy and they only added them for the shoot. I would be more concerned for the animals if the pool had chlorinated water
Hanlee is the only person on this show with respect for the girls. She should be the real host and creative director, the shoots where she is on set providing positive feedback and energy have been the best ones with the best photos (regardless of what shots Cindy picks out for judging).
I feel you with the dog fear. I met my father when I was 7 and he had his huge dog attack me because I was too loud, and it took me two decades to stop being insanely scared of dogs after that

I saw a puppy across the street one day, and I had to hold back tears even though in my mind I knew it couldn’t and wouldn’t hurt me. That’s the strange psychology of phobias. They’re not in your control. I was 12 when it happened and 13 when I saw that puppy. I only got over it bc my mom took us to her aunt’s house, who had a dog, which I also knew would never hurt me. I was terrified to go, but I didn’t want to tell my mom I was afraid of dogs (more than afraid). So we went. I sat on the couch the whole time and watched that dog mind its business around the house. I pretended to watch tv and be ok. The dog came up to me too to pet it (bc I always did in the past 😢). I couldn’t pet her, but she did get close to me. After a while, I felt a little more comfortable, and that was the beginning of me slowly no longer being afraid of dogs. I actually have 2 pugs now. It isn’t easy to just get over it. It’s an unexplainable terror.
Jessica, to answer your question, watching Asia's Next Top Model, that response that the models gave to Yu Tsai when he says "models, models, models," is basically what they all do. Yu Tsai got introduced in Asia's Next Top Model midway on Cycle 4 (Cindy was also the host on that cycle and the two that followed it), and on Episode 6 or 7, is when the girls started responding to Yu Tsai that way. Not sure if production planted that in them, if he asked for it off camera, or what, but since then, every girl, and also in other cycles, the models say, "Yu Tsai, Yu Tsai, Yu Tsai."

It's so crazy because all these shows are using the same equation to put these girls through the most ridiculous, semi torturous events ("photoshoots"), that they could ever think to create, ones that will not enhance their portfolios in the least.... and do they expect people who watch not to have criticisms?? We can all see what they're doing, it's been 30 years of the same equation... America's Next Top Model was the blueprint for all of these shows and at this point we figured it out🙄😒 I do agree with Jessica, that the lighting and the tone should have been a lot more ethereal, almost like a fairy pond or how the opening environment in the movie Maleficent looked. You can probably achieve this in a hot tub and you wouldn't have to worry about freezing temperatures, however you would have to get animals that could be in warmer water but I don't think that would be a problem, frogs tend to like a range of water temperatures 👍✌😉
They're mad at the models for not performing as directed. They are deeply stupid. The models had their ears under the water most of the time, and couldn't hear what Mr. Grouchy Pants was hollering. 🙄

As one of these animals I think I would gain a phobia of photographers 😅 I mean, I WOULDN’T like to swallow this water, hopefully the animals are from a safe place so there is no chance of contamination, but it really depends on how long the water has been there, the temperature, and the way it’s been treated. It’s water that’s been sitting for a time, stagnant is the worst, and is warm (like the inside of our bodies) that has a greater chance of harboring harmful parasites and bacteria. What can I say, people swim in lakes and natural bodies of water all the time during summer, so if they used a clean pool and allowed the animals to acclimate properly as well as clean up after them, it should be safe, just maybe kinda gross to some people. And DEFINITELY wash up before and after touching amphibians, for everyone’s safety! Edit: As a model I’d gain a phobia of Yu Tsai
This is a BEAUTY shot. I am not savvy with photography, but from watching America's Next Top Model, I understand that a beauty shot is JUST your face. So WHY do we need the frogs and the eels? What purpose do they serve, apart from freaking the girls out and causing them to look scared and stiff during their shoots, because now they are worried about the slimy sea creatures instead of looking beautiful and relaxed and focused on getting the perfect beauty shot. And then the creative director is YELLING at the girls, and literally THROWING eels at them in the water, rather than giving them constructive feedback. What, exactly, were the girls meant to be selling here? Frogs? Not to mention, you can actually get Salmonella from coming into contact with frogs and eels. So is it REALLY worth having them there? Especially since they cropped the pictures anyways, and I am guessing that these photos CANNOT be used in the girls' professional portfolio to show real clients when they are trying to book jobs as real models? I would not be surprised if atleast one girl got sick from this challenge. And then the judges say they HATE the photos anyways....so what was the point.

She has no problems with the eels; why not just remove the frogs and keep only the eels if they rly need the animals in the pictures ? Exposure to get over phobias should be done in a safe, controlled environment and (ideally) with a professional, not like this zzz

TJ is me. I am also terribly afraid of frogs and toads and just watching the entire shoot also makes me very, very, very much uncomfrotable! This is so uncalled for. They could've just edited those frogs on it or why not choose fishes like koi or goldfish instead. Also, those plants most likely aren't even real? ANTM did this better on cycle 15, the underwater themed shoot with seafood and without being in water.
The full shots where you could see the beautiful shapes in the water with their entire bodies were so pretty. Out if context from the chest up ruined the entire thing.

Im a 35 year old man who can handle bugs, rodents, and even lizards. But frogs just dont sit right with me either! I'll start gagging if i stare at a frog for too long. 😂

Frogs are amphibians...Eels are fish...These are no touchy touch animals and if they are handled it should be in a very specific way. Shame on them.
TJ is me. I am also terribly afraid of frogs and toads and just watching the entire shoot also makes me very, very, very much uncomfrotable! This is so uncalled for. They could've just edited those frogs on it or why not choose fishes like koi or goldfish instead. Also, those plants most likely aren't even real?
ANTM did this better on cycle 15, the underwater themed shoot with seafood and without being in water.
The full shots where you could see the beautiful shapes in the water with their entire bodies were so pretty. Out if context from the chest up ruined the entire thing.

I think because so many people throw around the word phobia when they’re afraid of something, it’s lost it’s meaning. Like I’m afraid of spiders but I don’t have a phobia. This model clearly has a frog phobia :/
