I'd say if you plan on tracking it, STI. If you plan on daily driving it WRX. Sti gives you 18in wheels and brembo brakes w a 30 year old engine. There's a better 6 speed transmission as well and better cornering ability due to the added LSD. If that stuff is worth 10k to you then get the STI. If you want a new motor with direct injection that's turbo charged and still gets 30 mpg on the highway go with the WRX. You can take the 10k put it into performance upgrades and have a 350hp/330tq car for the same price as the STI ( probably cheaper than that). The only thing holding the wrx back is the lack of LSD and the transmission. In my opinion the WRX has the better engine, especially for daily driving.
Yes I agree completely, FA20 is far superior then EJ25. However the STI’s chassis is better. For daily driving WRX all day. For track use I’d get STI. And if you can comfortably afford it
I think you also have to consider the steering racks. The STI has a superior hydraulic power steering rack, as compared to the STI's electronic power steering. Much better steering feel and response in the STI.
If you can afford it, yes get the STI. If you can't afford it now, save up and wait until you can. If you get the WRX, you will might find yourself spending more than $10k trying to make it an STI. I bought the 2019 STI almost a year ago and I have no regrets.

Just bought a 2020 STI a month ago. If you have the extra money and you are not worried about buying more gas, hands down get the STI. Rock solid transmission, port injected, and updated EJ motor. Soon it’ll be gone from the market completely. If you don’t like it after driving it for a year, you can always trade it in and get the new generation model.
TheU2bstud I bought the 2019 STI and I agree. STI all the way. If you don't like it, you can always find a buyer for it, especially since cars like it are going extinct.
The Brembos alone are half of he cost difference, and the transmissions are worlds apart. I started with a WRX hatch (EJ motor) and I am now on my 3rd STi. I would never consider going back. I currently have a Stage 2, pro tuned, 2017 STi limited, without the wing, and my sister has a 2018 WRX limited, with only an axle back exhaust, and we both autocross. Even with none of the upgrades, her car is not really much slower, on the "autocross track" (tires, suspension, & driver make the most difference in AC), but her brakes and transmission feel like crap in comparison. Plus, launching the STi feels safe, and amazing, where as you are just waiting for WRX transmission to explode. Oh, and you cannot adjust the power bias to the rear, and that is noticeable on the track, and during launches. If you plan on "driving" the car at all, and you can afford it, do yourself a favor and get the STi. The brembos, transmission, and differential control more than make up the difference in cost.

Depends what you’re going to use it for and what your end goals are. Either is a win. If you don’t plan on modding for awhile or ever, STi is great out of the box and you’ll keep your warranty for when that ej hiccups. If you plan on making a solid daily driver and don’t care about the warranty, WRX is the better route imo because it costs less which leaves room for personalizing and could very well be just as if not still more reliable than the STi. 🤷🏻♂️

"Ew, what's that ugly orange thing in the corner?" I said the same thing. It's not every day you see someone paint a house orange and slap wheels on it.
Sti waste of money, Buy a wrx new 2L direct injection! You don’t need all the driver select modes, after you go get stage 3 tuned why need sport sport sharp etc. plus changing power front and rear diff waste of time. All money wasting. Interior practically the same design practically the same. Besides wing etc. In Australia they have a LSD rear diff standard if you want get a LSD front diff. plus the gear box 6 speed is good in wrx, I’ve had zero issues. if you blow it up replace it with the STI ONE. I spent 6k on it I have 215kw at all wheels. Goes like a rocket. But if you want to race it just put coil overs sti gear box and front LSD DIFF
I bought a WRX because I couldn’t afford a STI. However after research and owning my WRX I’m glad i didn’t foolishly attempt to get an STI. The FA20 is a far superior engine to the EJ25. STI has superior chassis but WRX has much better engine. STI for consistent track use and WRX for daily driving.
@Roy M. no buddy. FA20 is better than any ej engine that they came out with. Exactly why Subaru is going with a FA24 for the new STI coming out next year
I was torn between getting the wrx or the sti. I've been wanting a sti for years now, and wasn't sure if I should just save on buying the wrx and putting the extra cash into it. But my dealership has a white one that I've had my eye on and I test drove it. But recently they got a black one and a blue one in and now I'm even more torn. The black looks so good and blue is my favorite color, but the white looks the best I believe. The pricing isn't an issue. I was just wondering on if I should.save that 10k and put it into the wrx to make it like the sti, or get the sti and put 10k into it and make it more of a beast. But after watching this video, the sti is the better option. Just wish the sti's came with the fog lights. Guess I can just add some after market ones if I need to.

subie. ja too bad the trans is paper
Andrew Lincoln and the EJ isn’t? 🤥
subie. ja can’t even hold you on that you right
I chose WRX premium , it’s ice silver . I love it ,$10,000 less than STI and no turbo lag and newer engine . 💯💯💯💯
Leonel Ramirez my 2019 barley has rev hang and holds power till 8k . I don’t have those issues
Nick Chavez *and keeping up with a Camry from a roll
@@midnightquest9758 Keep telling yourself that bud. You're only fooling yourself.
And no brembos
@@iToxicTritton I have an STI now I was wrong it’s totally worth the extra 10k
The title makes it sound like the only difference between the wrx and the sti is a wing haha maybe I missed it but you failed to mention the clutch and shifter in the sti is a thousand times better than the wrx
Only if you plan on tracking it, if its your daily driver the WRX is a no brainer.
daily driving WRX is a better choice. also when I was young I like those big ass wings. but getting old now . the wing is too much.
"Ew, what's that ugly orange thing in the corner?" I said the same thing. It's not every day you see someone paint a house orange and slap wheels on it.
kinda sad we couldn ear sound ...but still a nice review
No fog lights yikes
I have a WRXSTI 2017 Limited and in my honest opinion the wing looks a little too much 🍚
I don't care for the stock sti wing. But the s209 wing....🤔
Sti waste of money,
Buy a wrx new 2L direct injection!
Exactly why Subaru is going with a FA24 for the new STI coming out next year
Good review
I getingsti this week
Ya think we looking the sti blue. She ready to trade her 2011 for flex in.
packinsteel z71 🧐
@@BenHardyCars probably have to go at of state the Dover de subaru sucks no car there.
I bought the 2020 wingless STI premium back in Novemb, I have never been more happy with a vehicle purchase.
WRX with CVT
It can also work a daily commuter.
Wrx with cvt 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
lol, get the manual. Cvt's are shit for sportscars, and will cost more in the longterm to maintain the transmission oils
Guess I can just add some after market ones if I need to.
what did you end up doing my guy? Sti?
Of course choose sti
You shouldn't.
I’ll if you fully know all details but vents Are fully functional and slot of stuff you missed man other than that great rapidly pushed bud 👍
Lol i drive 2017 sti limited no wing. Just the low profile 🤣 .
The diff controls sell me to the sti and how sexc it is the wrx still 🔥 dough both are my favorite cars rn but the sti just better overall becasue it’s expensive
No wing looks way better
Man.... the wrx owners in this comment section. I bet yall wake up everyday ready to defend your reasoning behind getting a wrx instead of an STI 😂😂😂. lol most STI owners I know including myself.. dont really give a shit 😂😂. We both got subies right? lol I mean damn, if u want an STI get one, if u want a WRX then get one. Stop defending your reasoning lol. Its your money do what you want and enjoy being part of the subie family. This debate is dumb cuz out the factory.. the STI is just a better car.. Period. But we all know WRX owners and STI owners mod... and whoevers got the most money for that... is going the fastest.. regardless of what car you got. 💪🏽
The wing on sti is hideous I could never drive a car with a wing especially that big.
can always pay to get a wing delete.
That ugly orange thing that keeps popping up in corner of the back-up camera happens worth a wrx plus an sti.
i kinda like the wrx better
Those sti seats look dirty
Me personally, I wouldn't get an STI only because of the red stitching/lettering everywhere.
Thought about getting a wrx but Na going go with a 2011 Sti ahha
The wrx speed is 155 mph and sti 165 mph
Sti I got one very fast
Trying to decide between a wrx and a sti looking at the the trims....
C'mon...!!!
Guess this guy ussually reviews ford fiestas...
HAHAHAHAHAH...!!!!
Wrx still gots it
I’ll wait for it going on sale😂😂😂😂
And sti still got it also lol
Yes
This is a terrible video..
The 2020 WRX is faster than the 2020 WRX STI.
You can only listen to Pitbull in the Sti.
Stinger GT.
I'll save you time. No
