Please please keep these up! Absolutely amazing, my baby 20months is learning this now & your the first person I’ve actually understood what the signs mean properly. Do you do any one to one? Thank you so much Sophie xxx
Love this. My son is 7 months and I’m trying to learn sign. Even my 4year old loves your video. Although he was taught something different for milk so he gets confused. Xxx
Love this! My little boy is 2 and non verbal, we’ve been to groups that have had baby sign to songs and stuff but to learn the basic needs etc for him to start with us great!!xx
Great video! Id love to see some more like this, short, simple videos are a really handy go to for us at the moment, especially when you have an unsettled LO who doesn’t want to be put down for long 😉
Thank you and thank you! How interesting, I have never heard of Auslan but I'll have to check it out. I imagine lots of the baby sign language signs are the same? ☺️
My Son is 2 and still doesn't speak proper words so we've been doin sign hes made some up for himself like more an drink he also just started signing sleep an hungry and it's the actual way to sign it 😂 I'd like to learn more especially cus im trying to potty train thank-you xx
Brillant for starting out doing some with my wee boy. How did introduce it did you do couple at time or just doing them all time. But more would be great. I work in nursery too and very handy.
Hi Claire. I just weave it into natural conversation. The trick is to try and make it habitual and use the signs every time you say certain words. That way your baby picks up on them faster and can start signing back too!
Thank you so much for this video. I would love to see more baby sign please? My baby is behind in his communication mile stones and I would like to teach him Macaton to help ease his frustration. X
This video is so helpful thank you! I've watched quite a few on youtube and yours is definitely the most helpful, looking forward to watching more, please keep making them :)
That is so lovely of you to say! I now have a baby signing playlist with several other videos. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/play/PLOZ26clctjkL82eSgpk66_2tIp7Kq8-QG.html
I'm trying to find baby and mother sign language. My baby is just over four months old and I really want to teach him to sign as I am aware babies sign before talking, but I can imagine it will be really good for learning to talk too. I do think they should make it part of the curriculum.
This is great, thanks! Tairo loves the sing and sign part of your classes too. Do you have any advice on how it's best to introduce signs to babies? Gradually or just start signing everything I know? x
Just start! They will pick it up slowly in the same way they acquire speech. Of course, that doesn't mean that you have to learn signs for absolutely everything but just use the signs in this video and any other useful ones (like those in my follow up video: ua-cam.com/video/va5IDHhvsX0/v-deo.html) straight away. You'll be surprised at how much he starts to take on board ☺️
@@MsLeanne85 start using them now as they pick up along the way. They say babies can respond starting at 6-9months in signs, so makes sense to start before - just like we speak to them before they can speak. Gives you time to practice too ☺️
Hi Sophie! Not sure how I found your channel but I am so happy I did. I have a 7 month old little girl and we have been trying to sign with her. It’s a little difficult. What age do you think most babies will get the hang of it?
Hi Jamariah! Thanks so much for watching. It means so much to me that you're enjoying the videos and that you found me! Typically, babies tend to respond either verbally (making noises) or physically with random actions and movements from around 8/9 months. They normally will start to have a go at signing from around 11 months onwards. It will go quickly from there though!
Sophie how do you sign if something hurts? My little one has colic and reflux (she’s 4 months now) it’d be good to try and understand if she’s in pain, sometimes I can’t quite tell from the cry alone xx
Thanks for watching! There is a baby signing playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLOZ26clctjkL82eSgpk66_2tIp7Kq8-QG.html We also do baby signing songs each week as part of the baby classes 😊
You can either rub your tummy (although that's a bit confusing as it is also the sign for hungry) or tap your index fingers on your lips - my preferred sign!
Interesting question! I would say that the best sign would be to do the sign for pain and sign it over your/the baby's tummy. It's a sign I keep getting asked about so will make sure to include it in the next video! If you search 'makaton sign for pain' you should find a demo xx
Please please keep these up! Absolutely amazing, my baby 20months is learning this now & your the first person I’ve actually understood what the signs mean properly. Do you do any one to one? Thank you so much Sophie xxx
Thank you so much. I'll try to make some new ones soon.

Amazing that an! Please can you remind me of “more” and “finished”

I have a four month old so no experience but mummy and daddy seem quite complex in BSL for a baby in comparison to ASL
Thank you so much for this video. I would love to see more baby sign please? My baby is behind in his communication mile stones and I would like to teach him Macaton to help ease his frustration. X

Great video, what age can you start sign language from?
I've been doing sign with my nearly 1 year old since she was 8 months old. She can sign all done, more and food
Any age! Never too early or too late 😊
Change and nappy is different from the makaton signs. Which signs have you used?

So difficult to explain in words but if you go to my Instagram, it's on a recent reel that I did.
