- Maniacal Cinephile movie review for KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE! We dive into the bizarre and delightful world of the 1988 cult classic that combines horror, comedy, and sci-fi in the most unexpected ways!
When teenagers Mike Tobacco (Grant Cramer) and Debbie Stone (Suzanne Snyder) see a comet crash outside their sleepy small town of Crescent Cove, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous aliens who look very much like circus clowns. They try to warn the local authorities like Dave Hanson and Curtis Mooney, but everyone assumes their story is a prank. Meanwhile, the clowns set about harvesting and eating as many people as they can. It's not until they kidnap Debbie that Mike, Dave and the Terenzi brothers decide it's up to them to stop the klowns' bloody rampage.
Written and directed by the Chiodo Brothers, this film takes you on a wild ride as a small town is invaded by extraterrestrial clowns with a twisted sense of humor and a penchant for turning humans into cotton candy. We'll explore the movie's unique charm, memorable moments, and the reasons why it has stood the test of time as a beloved cult favorite.
Whether you're a long-time fan of "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" or discovering it for the first time, this review will provide an entertaining and insightful look at what makes this movie a true gem of 80s horror-comedy cinema.

Thanks. I like getting ReAction figures to display with my GI Joe and other 1/18 figures.
You are Andy, the maniacal f****** cinephile And don't you fucking forget it! You... are my hero😢
As it happens I do. Sadly, my collection shelves are almost full.
I buy those Ghost ultimate figures and eyed that Godzilla Minus One figure hard. Great stuff.
Please do when a stranger calls.
The entire gym segment was off the charts. You keep setting the bar that high, you'll need an elevator to get to it.
Thanks so much!
It's a good thing he's got a folding chair
@@StitchedTogetherPictures That was such an impressive Klown costume too!
Those Spirit Halloween props came in handy.
It’s crazy how underrated you are.
I’ve been binging your videos for the past couple days, and while some of the older ones are…the older ones, basically all of your videos are gold!
Thank you! I need all the help I can in spreading the word :)
@@StitchedTogetherPictures have you ever thought about doing a crossover with youtuber Dominic noble to cover a reboot of a book adaptation? like Stephan kings the stand or something
@@alexandergrant6361 That's actually a really cool idea for a video, I second this!!
His old videos are brilliant I still go back to the old Godzilla review for a great laugh.
That would make for an interesting crossover video. Im so here for it! @@alexandergrant6361
One of the weirdest but best 80s horror movie I ever watched
Omg that large Marge scene used to *freak me out* as a kid. I loved it tho
Right! It was completely horrifying!
To the greatest UA-camer to hit the platform, never giveup Andy, we will stand by your side You are my hero and will forever be the person who lifted me out of the darkest grips of depression.
Never give you my friend.
Wow, thank you! Glad my silliness was able to help lift your spirits.
@@StitchedTogetherPictures I'm glad too.
LOL. See you next time.
This is true! We luv u Andy
Yes I agree heavily! Andy is even loved over here in little old New Zealand 🇳🇿 🤘
Can’t thank you enough for taking me back to my childhood with this movie review. I saw this movie as a kid in the 90s on the Sci Fi channel I was born in 1988. The 80s will never die
Hopefully hype from the video game will finally get a sequel off the ground.
I absolutely love this movie. "What are you going to do with those pies boys?". No clowning around on this review . Fantastic
Hope you like it!
@@StitchedTogetherPictures I did enjoy your gym montage hahaha 🤣
I never knew that the popcorn gun was seven thousand dollars. They should have waited for the marshmallow gun.
I was baffled to hear the popcorn gun of all things was the hardest prop to make, and that it was $7000. More you know I guess. Perfect intentional camp horror film honestly
Same man
Yeah and I really want to know what toy gun they used for the cotton candy gun?
Apparently Andy got himself a Killer Workout! XD
Thanks! I remember when this movie came out! Been one of my favorite for years! And one of the first I shared with my kids!
The cotton candy body cocoon royally freaked me out as a kid.
The moment I heard “Why can’t we sit and react like everyone else”, I went into the same speech Evil did.
Because you’re Andy! And we love our insane and over the top Maniacal Cinephile. Great review as always, shining the light on Kult Klassics that should get more love.
Thank you!
I swear I think of this every time I see the views and subscribers reactors get when Andy puts so much effort into his videos. I just keep spreading the message to everyone I know.
Wow! Shorty got his punching bag AND his sports shake all in one place!!
The Chiodo brothers made the taxidermy mice Diaramas in the Dinner with Shmukes remake.
They are the ones you go to when you need weird stuff lol
I watched this as a kid, and it freaked me out. Thankfully I got over my clown fear. Now I'm only afraid of everything else.
Still love that cover art, too.
Fun stuff, Andy.
Thanks!
All the protests we have, over NOTHING, people aren’t enraged and up in arms that this channel not being well over 100k in subs is criminal, WTF is wrong with you people!!! Andy’s you rock
Gym segment was my favourite part!. As PT those exercises are elite level
No pain. No gain.
Dude thank you for doing this review. Killer Klowns from outer space still freaks me out after all these years
When you think about it, the 3 main stars might not have survived. Taking those pies to the face at the end, doesn't that mean they should start melting soon after?
They would have to for kontinuity.
Good point
I always think about the pies hitting them in the end and yeah, they dead.
Yes! Love the movie - and the channel!
Glad you like the movie and thanks for supporting the channel :)
I really like the pep talk from Evil Andy at the end, it’s so true and the reason I watch.
Thanks!
I absolutely love this movie! The theme song is one of the best. This movie gave me a fear of clowns till this day. Always keep an eye on their nose
The movie and theme song are killer indeed! It's been stuck in my head for weeks.
They did not need to go so hard on that song but I appreciate the hell out of them for doing so
It's always great to see more from you! Favorite joke: "Meanwhile, Debbie is done using up all the water IN THE COUNTY." Keep being awesome!
Thanks!
Maaaaaan that is one wild gym. Keep going, Andy! You've got this!
Thanks! Will do :)
@@StitchedTogetherPictures Big Daddy Leo on here would probably love to tag along to that gym 😆
You had me cracking up right off."can't sleep, clowns will eat me." Thank you so much for reminding of that old awesome episode of the Simpsons...with the creepy clown bed. Deep cuts. Love it
The Simpsons and also Alice Cooper has a song titled Can't Sleep Clowns Will Eat Me.
I saw this at the Drafthouse last year at a special showing. It was just as terrifying on the big screen as the small screen when i was a kid.
This would be a fun one to see in a theater.
Thanks Andy I still remember watching this on tv when I was staying up late on Chiller. Also crazy on how the clown costumes were used to make the troll costumes for Ernest scared stupid
Thanks for watching and reminding me of the Chiller channel.
anyday andy uploads is a good onne
Thank you!
I always remember how awesome & ridiculous the antics in the film were, but I only appreciate how hard the theme slaps when I hear it. It's weird that.
They needed a song about killer klowns from outer space and The Dickies delivered the goods and then some.
I absolutely love this movie. I'm so glad more people are finding it and loving it. This video made my day. I'm claiming this as a belated birthday present. Thank you, Andy
Thanks and Happy Birthday!
Always love Killer Klowns, always disappointed they never got a sequel. Also, not sure how often you get to read your comments, but your videos is one of selective few I watch the moment I see come out. So apperceive if all the work you put in.
Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel :)
Holy crap!!! This is amazing ❤ I was wondering when You guys will tackle this cult classic 😊 definitely a movie that fits perfectly within yours guys creative shenanigans 😅 well let the hilariousness begin and overflows!!!!! Upti goddamned dido or something 😂😂 19:51
haha Thanks!
I rented this movie all the time from the video store when I was a kid. One of my all time favorite movies.
Thank you so much for reviewing one of the most important horror movies of my childhood.
Now the one thing to make this movie review even better is the hot cheesy nachos.
Never again with those dang nachos...
Mmm
That was mean
I still have this on dvd. I love it. I wish they would do more. Thank you Andy's! I watch your reviews everyday.
Thanks so much for the support! It's actually pretty crazy this movie hasn't gotten a sequel yet. Even if a cheap Syfy channel movie.
@@StitchedTogetherPictures I would enjoy anything. Thank you!
My favorite UA-camr reviewing my favorite movie? Sweet.
Hope you like it!
I got my birthday present from Andy early (tomorrow is the big day). I love Killer Klowns From Outer Space since I was a kid. The aliens looked great, the cast were memorable, and the humor was fantastic.
Happy Early Birthday!
🎂🥳🎊🎉🎈Happy Birthday! 🎂🥳🎊🎉🎈
Happy Birthday 🎉
Happy birthday! Don't have any klowns at your party! 🎉
Happy birthday
Tell em large Marge sent ya❤
"Why do we have to be so extra?" 😂
Lmao never change dude. I'm glad you're not like the other UA-camrs.
Thank you
@StitchedTogetherPictures You are welcome my good sir! 😃
27:07 that scene and the Klown parade always got stuck in my mind as a small kid. I ended up watching the movie in my late-teens.
Great review! Fingers crossed for Orca review this summer!
I did buy it as a candidate for summer monster month.
Wow! Thirty seconds and already so many comments.
Love this movie. To this day I always joke that when the ice cream truck goes by the parking lane-
~~
"A tasty treat for while you screw!"
Me: Oh, not now- wait. Do they have fudge bombs?! Where are my pants??
I'm fine with it just being a stand alone film! That's what makes it special! It doesn't need a sequel or a franchise to make it lovable or memorable. The first film alone is what makes it so powerful! And with that, it has merchandises and many more to celebrate it! And again, I'm fine with that! No sequels and more impotently, NO REMAKE! THANK F%CKING GOD! Killer Klowns From Outer Space is still a gem that can't be touched! GREAT MOVIE!
This is one of my favorite movies from the 80s. Love the Klowns and the practical effects. The whole movie is fun and have fun characters. This is the one of the best 80s comedies horrors. Great review Andy and your jokes will always put a smile and a laugh on me. You're the greatest reviewer and youtubers. Have a great day Andy. Keep up thr great work and jokes.
Thanks so much for the kind words! Have a nice day :)
I came across your channel a couple days ago and ive been binging ever since.. gotta love this gold nugget of a channel. Keep up the great commentary 🤝
Welcome and thank you so much!
No matter how many times I watch this movie, I will never get over seeing the buildings that are still up and sadly some of the buildings we lost in downtown Santa Cruz. What a wild time for the town in the 80s
Can't wait for the game hopefully it can manage to keep itself alive will you be playing it andy ?
Already got the game preordered :)
One of the few movies that my fiancé found genuinely scary as a kid; he says once the clown knocked that guys head off, and jumped on top of a building he was out lol.
I first watched this on Netflix over a decade ago and I agree, the practical effects + gorgeous set design = 👌
I hope Killer Clowns can get a show. I’ve seen renderings from a game which would be awesome. I think there’s a chance it could be as good as Evil Dead the game
Hopefully hype from the game will finally get a sequel made. Kinda crazy how it hasn't happened yet.
I love what you do Andy, your channel is great for horror geeks and I think your commentary and criticisms on horror movies are always spot on!
Thanks!
This is my favorite movie of all time.
I can't lie kind of stoked for the AotKC video game. Great upload dude
Thanks!
38 minutes of Killer Klowns review from the Andys! What a nice treat to wake up to!
Enjoy!
@@StitchedTogetherPictures Don't tell me what to do! You're not the boss of me! (but ok i will)
HELL of a good flick!! And no, mind you, I do NOT mean "so bad it's good" bullsh!t. I mean it's just plain AWESOME! I find THIS flick really clever and imaginative and really admire it for THAT.
Agreed!
I agree with Andy, Andy, AND Andy on this topic!... This movie IS far out!! Any "Gen-Xer" (of ANY mental capacity) KNOWS that "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" is WHERE IT'S AT for some of the absolute BEST horror/comedy entertainment!! 🤣
It's an INSTANT CLASSIC! The same way that "Army Of Darkness", "Sean Of The Dead", or even "Gremlins" are!! 👍🏻
I heard about this movie way back when and thought the title was hilarious. Didn't see much of it though.
Then I find years later, it was filmed in my hometown. That puppet show is in the gazebo in the town plaza and I can recognize main street in the parade scene. That red brick building could have been anywhere, but I suspect it was the warehouse next to the plaza (which was destroyed in the Loma Prietta Earthquake).
As to why they filmed there, they apparently wanted to film in Santa Cruz (where Lost Boys, Sudden Impact and, decades later, Us was filmed) but weren't able to. So they went to the next town over, which was us. Pretty sure the original draft would have had the finale at the Boardwalk.
That's awesome!
I love how Royal Dano went from being a great western actor, being in Eastwood films, to being a great B horror comedy character actor. He plays it so straight in House 2 and it works so well just like the sort of over the top goofiness works in this movie. RIP you godamn legend!
I must have been about 10 when
I first saw this.
It's been a favourite since.
I still remember the unique VHS case, its a core memory of mine, i was given the responsibility to hite the videos for the hotel tv system when i was 11, which meant i had access to ANYTHING i wanted to see.. this movie was one of them, aswell as all the best horrors available in 87.. ❤
Nice!
Great video as always Andy! I always appreciate the way you go above and beyond when it comes to pay tribute to a classic.
Thanks!
Such a staple of my Five for Five Dollars video rentals!!!
Eventually, I got to OWN my very own COPY!
It sat proudly right next to my other favorite VHS tapes...
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2...
And Hellbound: Hellraiser 2!!!
......
..........
Nowadays, they're PERMANENT FIXTURES on my Kindle Fire tablet...
Man, HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED...
Yet somehow stayed the same!
Thanks for covering ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER!!!!
Thanks for watching!
I needed a new StitchedTogether Video, this came right on time. 🤘
This is one of my top 13 favorite movies of all time!
God damn I love this movie, the Dickies song is also weirdly a bop. Thank you for covering it!
Thanks for watching!
Andy, my 3 favorite horror movie cinephiles!!! YOU KNOW WHAT???!!!
Thanks!
Jesus Christ...... BOUT TIME YOU DID THIS ONE
The first time I watched this movie I couldn't finish it. I thought it was dumb. But after a second attempt I love it.
Idea really sounds like a drunken madlib that just so happened to be insanely popular and succesful....I wonder how the Joker from Batman and these guys would interact?
A classic killer clown movie, alongside IT.
oh boy im sure this movie + andy is going to be a hilarious experience
The quality of your videos always surprise me. Top tier stuff every time
Thank you so much :)
I like that two characters who dislike each other for reasons that honestly make sense end up fighting together and coming out as friends with no hard feelings between them.
It subverts expectations that the ex in a movie must always be some terrible person who gets in the way or tries to betray the heroes, he's just a regular guy.
Agreed! It was refreshing and different.
I remember my uncle showing this to me when i was about 11 and ive been in love ever since. To see the resurgence in recent years is so cool.
Hey wait a minute, that's Royal Dano at the beginning playing essentially the exact same character with the exact same premise as he would 2 years later in Spaced Invaders - An old farmer with a dog who has aliens land on his property. Damn you, Hollywood!!!
Killer Klowns is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, a so-bad-it's-good gem right next to Troll 2!
Good lord that Gym scene😂😂😂 also loving how much weve seen of Dr. Oddcoutis lately, he was M.I.A for so long
Now we just need a sequel to this and Night of the Creeps.
This is one of those comedy horror movies you can watch almost any time
Indeed!
I loved this movie as a little kid. I still have such a soft spot.
I dont know if the end of the video was a peak behind the curtain or not man but seriously dont give up. You have something so special here. Even if u dont end up with 5 million subscribers i have a strong feeling ull be remembered years from now by people like us just how other people talk about elveria, jo bob or svenghoulie. U really have something here bro. Good luck.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support :)
Tell u the truth, When I was lil I was scared to death of Clowns! But after watching Terrifier 2, think I'm over it. These the Good Clowns 🤡🙉💀
Thank you so much. This is my favorite horror movie. People who think it's not scary aren't paying attention. It's klowns you know innocent fun. Then they murder almost everyone in the town. Plus this town seems to have a circus/clown fetish.
"The good news is he died"
"The bad news is..." Pooh died:(
Andy doing his part to bring back killer clowns 👍🏻
I remember catching this late night on TNT or something in the early 90s. I was disappointed nobody was with me to have witnessed it. Had to check the TV guide for the next showing the following week and made my buddy watch it with me. Good times. Also great video, appreciate your efforts and laughs.
Thanks!
The connection between KILLER KLOWNS and my favorite mad SFX movie, Mike Jittlov's THE WIZARD OF SPEED AND TIME, this film's composer, is a strong reason for me to love BOTH films. It's a pity that John Massari didn't make both films worthy of being born again in merch and cult classic status.
Never give up Andys! I love your videos! They are so well made and thought out❤❤❤❤ and you review the best movies!
Thanks so much!
One of only 3 channels, out of the 100s I'm subbed to, that I have notifications turned on for 🤙 Hugely underrated, best review channel on YT 🤘
Thank you so much! It is greatly appreciated :)
Shudder....never thought I'd have to think of "Clown Car" combined with "Cavity Search". ...Hope the game reaches it's full potential!
Love these videos! I appreciate you being such a hard working youtuber Andy! not many put the efforts into skits and horror love as you do!
Thank you :)
Oh hell yeah, I've been wanting this review for ages!
Hope you like it!
Another awesome video! Funny enough, I actually just watched this again last night in preparation for the videogame coming out next week.
Thanks! Got it preordered.
Played this movie for my son for the first time today actually. Now he gets to see his favorite UA-camr talk about it too!
Nice! Thanks for watching :)
Much better than a channel that sits in front of a computer or does a voice over! Always enjoy your vids!
