Had this on a blank video cassette with Evil Dead 2.
    Now THERE'S a double-feature!
Fun fact: In Peter Jackson's "King Kong", there's a scene where someone goes down to the cargo hold of the ship and there's a crate that's carrying the Rat Monkey (as mentioned on the sign).

When I was a kid and got to rent a VHS at the local gas-station/video store, I always took a peek in the dark corner where all the horror-films where hidden away. Among all the covers, the one for Braindead stood out, depicting Lionel and his lawnmower covered in blood, with zombies with outstretched arms surrounding him. That cover fascinated me for years, and whenever I went home with Rock-a-Doodle, Prehysteria or Jurassic Park, I always wanted to take Braindead with me as well, but I knew I wouldn't be allowed. So it was a grand day when I finally got to rent it when I turned 15. And whatever images that cover had made me dream up all those years, the actual film was even wilder, and way funnier, than I had imagined.

I'm so glad, that you finally reviewed Brain Dead! My dad's favorite genre of movies was horror. He & my mom had me watching horror movies with them, starting when I was 3 years old. But, when I had my dad watch Brain Dead with me, about 20 years ago, it was too much even for him. Lol. I'd already seen it before. But, Brain Dead and especially the party scene, at the end of the movie, had my dad turn to me and say "Is this the kind of sick shit, that you like?" Lol. My best friend played a trick on his wife, during her watching Brain Dead with him. He'd already seen it before. So, he made vanilla pudding, before watching it with her. Just as the lunch scene, where the pus & ear fall into the pudding begins, he gave his wife the vanilla pudding to eat. While eating the pudding and watching the scene, his wife began gagging and nearly vomited. Lol. After I told my dad about the trick my friend played, on his wife, he said "Now I see why you & him best friends. You both like sick movies and have a sick sense of humor." Lol.

When you think about it, many of the greatest directors of all time started out on low budget movies. Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, James Cameron. It's like there's something about producing a film on such a low budget that moulds a person into a great film maker. They started out by proving that quality doesn't need a big budget.

Dead Alive was always top ten along w The Evil Dead, which has become one of my favorites. So I decided to watch Dead Alive a few years later when I saw it for $3. I must've been 16 years old. I spent most of the movie very confused, up until the ending with the lawnmower scene and I just burst out laughing and could not stop the rest of the movie. I finally got the joke. The over the top comedic violence was just so damn crazy 😂 bravo Peter. I still cant believe this is one of his early films. Im really looking forward to that remaster. Dead Alive is still the goriest film EVER MADE! It's INSANE! I LOVE IT!

I feel bad. I've slept on this channel for so long. I don't where the Maniacal Cinephile escaped from, but I'm glad he did. This is good.

Lord of the Rings was good and all, but could we get Peter Jackson to do more gore fests? Because this is a Classic.😎

With all the money he's made now it'd be amazing for him to go off and direct a little horror film again.

I claim the Cool Drunkle (Cool Drunk Uncle) role, in the Stitched Together Family. Tiddy bars? Check. Weird political views? Check, but this time it's "guillotine," as a general rule. Drunk a lot? You know it! Great video, Andy! I love getting videos from you on holidays, especially if they're pre-slated for release. It makes me feel great knowing you are doing some feasting of your own, today!
    Best Wishes

Weirdly enough when I was a kid and saw this in my local blockbuster. I thought this was The Evil Dead and begged my mom to rent it for me boy oh boy was I surprised in two aspects.
    1. Where was Bruce Campbell
And 2. Boy this movie didn't disappoint in the blood or comedy department XD
