The Doors are definitely an acquired taste. The Stones may have sounded dark and threatening, but the Doors - they *were* dark and threatening. And Robby Krieger was super innovative, way ahead of his time.
@@ianstu1940 Yup, Morrison may have been a child of privilege, but he pushed the Doors into some pretty sinister recesses other bands never even came close to.

I have been an ardent admirer of Robby Krieger's guitar playing for 50 years. You did great! Two questions: what year is that Les Paul? and why did you not play an SG?
Many thanks for your comment. The music of the Doors has always had an important place in my heart. At the time I recorded this video I did not own an SG. Now I do, you will be able to see it on my more recent videos. This video was very hard to make, because Robby Krieger's solos (at the time of the Doors) are not always precise (rhythmically), his bends are not always very in tune ...And despite everything, it is partly its sounds that give the Doors' music infinite beauty. On the other hand, it is very hard to do well and very hard to play well like he did. Have a great day Jeremy

Great playing. I just realized 'mahogany rush' guitarist frank marino plays 'the doors' rhythms for guitar solos. Back in 70s. Couple of straight (doors) rhythms. I dont think he changed keys on the riffs either. The solo section on 'poppy' he also adds to melody. Nobody had franks blazing hendrix tone back then. (No guitarist that i know of.) Up untill yesturday anyways. Maybe uli jon roth, few others randy hanson. Kriegers playing is american but to san fransisco bands grateful dead, country joe fish, Jefferson airplane 'the doors' sound is english. The doors' didnt sound country like san Fransisco bands did. David gilmore.
