Here is the thing I would ask: how does Ash act when mom is not around?
I was told my dogs missed me and would wait for me all the time.
Then when my other members of the family went out.....the dogs missed them too.

Lost my dog 5 months ago. My entire life collapsed because I did not realise that everything I did was based around my dogs routine. When he left, I simply had nothing. People tell me to get another dog, but I feel that I cannot do that to him. He was a 1 in a million and I cannot replace him. I feel guilt thinking of another. I am lost without him.
When I was six, my family moved into a new house right next door to an enormous German Shepherd. It was trained to attack anyone who even approached our neighbor's house. But I was too young to know the difference, so when I saw the dog over the fence, I grabbed my 5-year old brother and we both jumped over the fence and began to run directly toward the dog. Before my parents or neighbor could stop us it was too late to do anything... I grabbed the dog by the tail to hold him still while my little brother tried to ride him like a horse, and before you know it we had him on his back for belly rubs!! Evidently, the dog knew that we loved him from the moment we saw him, and he remained our best friend until the day he died. I'll never forget him, and only wonder why he didn't tear us to shreds as we'd seen him do to the unfortunate people who tried to enter his domain without permission.

i have a shiba inu who is the same way she will kiss my husband and son continuously but me and my daughter will get 1-2 kisses a week if we are lucky and my husband carries around every where. happy holidays
This is cute and everything, but somehow someway you going to have to develop that relationship so she will listen to you what causes for whatever reason if your relationship doesn't work out with your boyfriend she's going to be heart broken and it's going to be tough for you to try to get any respect from her, so try to have your boyfriend help train her to respect you as much as she respects him. Our dogs absolutely love me we’ve got three dogs one we got from an ex friend Izzy is a German shepherd lab mix and she is very cuddly she’s old too and very lazy and Ava is a full blooded German shepherd and she is very hyperactive and extremely smart both her and Izzy are extremely smart Ava listens to me better than mom then we got phoebe she’s a Doberman hound mix and her and Ava are play buddies they all look forward to me coming home from work we have a tradition when I come home I let them out then let them in and give them a snack I make them give me a paw then I give them their snack they are all smart Ava will be easy with me taking the snack out of my hand not so much from my mom then it’s cuddle time on the couch when mom tries to pet Ava she gets hyper but I can pet her belly and give her attention without her getting hyper she definitely loves me a lot Izzy will lay across my lap and cuddle when we are watching football they all love me a lot Izzy and phoebe love mom too I absolutely love our girls I dread the day I lose them I’m very attached to them especially Izzy dogs are Gods gift to us they make even a rough day awesome they know how to make us happy and cheer us up when we need it I say give your dogs belly rubs all they want show them love and teach them how to do good things dogs rule

Female dogs tend to bond better with male humans and vice-versa. Also, dogs still live according to the rules of the pack and they'll follow the one they think is the leader of the pack or household.

That's how it was with my last dog. It was my girlfriend's and she got so jealous of our bond she tells me "one day, all you're gonna have left is that dog." I said, word for word, "but h I'll take that dog over u ANY day." That's exactly what happened and I regret nothing. That was the deepest bond I'd ever had with a living beings and I'd do it all over again, break up included. Lol. And i was really in love with that girl. For years after too. But that dog was a special thing to me and I'd go through it again.
