Brilliantly done! This has also become one of my new favorite patterns to tie due to its simplicity, the speed at which they can be tied, and how many different variations one can create with just some knowledge of the mayflies found in your home water. After watching you tie and fish the dynamite Harry recently I made a purchase of close to twenty five different colors of polypropylene to ensure I had a variety of colors available to me when creating my own blends and variants of patterns. As always Davy, thank you so much for the time, money, and effort that you put into these videos for us. Thanks for the education, inspiration, and for giving so much more than I think you realize to this sport/obsession. If nothing else, know that you have been my teacher for some time now and have pulled me through some tough times after my combat injuries. Never stop doing and sharing what it is that you were MADE to do!
Fantastic Davie. I remember the old lark and grey. It was a great fly for me 40 or so years ago. A box of those style of flies would go down well for your monthly draw. Very very braw wee beasties. Thanks for the tips. 👍👏🎣
Such an adaptable method of dressing. I've tied a lot like this, but my chums keep pinching them. The variations are endless. It would be so useful if the hook makers made the CZ nymph hook style in #20 and #22. The Fulling Mill #18s I tie still look a bit big. I incorporate a small splash of luminous Aero Dry Wing in the post, and that makes the smaller sizes much easier to see, especially as the light fades. Brilliant, Davie. You are a prince.
This is the reason we tie or dress depending of where you live I guess. To adapt and create flies to match our hatches and our styles of fishing. I prefer natural materials but those look so good I’ve had to tie up a few after your last video just to try. Look so light that hopefully they will handle broken water. Thanks again.
I have been experimenting lately with betached body type flies but it is very difficult to get them to sit well on the surface. I kind of gave up until I saw this video. Headed to the shop for materialen now. This fly looks dynomite!
Colors. Especially colors that reflect the light just a bit & shimmer just a bit. Plus the general shape, that's why these work. The only bugaboo for me is the parachute hackle, I still have a tough time with that. Oh well, a challenge! 👍😄
Davie top draw again & grouping the flies like you have in this show is a great idea, I had a good day on whiteadder using your smaller patterns but no success tying a dropper off the fly they were really dragging - your fishing video made it look easy but it’s not :) Great stuff cheers steve
I'm going to have a go at these flies Davie, they really look like the perfect fly, if there is such a thing. I'm glad you done them with poly pro as well as the aero wing is really expensive 👏👍
Great video Davie I will be tying these up and giving them a go love all the variations I would love to see more videos like this it was just so informative great work Davie thanks
Wow-these are fabulous. They look lkike the perfect dries for me. A bit parachute style. Although abstract, they really seem to have a real 'animal' feel. :-)
I think the original "Dynamit Harry" (swedish movie character) was created by a Swedish fly tyer by name Jörgen Danielsson. Like your version with cdl, must try this summer 🙂👌

Bringing us along for your thought process of approaching color/material choices on a single fly style is a treat. Thanks, Davie

Will it work in black with a plain grizzle hackle and black dubbing thorax? Maybe a white wing for visibility?
