Thanks for your review. DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash V2 is a bunch of small improvements, but we didn’t want to remove or denature the characteristics that people liked about V1.
That's how it felt to me, there were slight differences that I could tell, but the largest improvements were likely those that can't really be seen with the human eye, that is, on a chemical/protection level
I'm really glad that it's not super thick or,,gluey" or gunky like absolute or other rinsless - for me they could leave it alone, I loved the watery consistency of it, it mixed up super fast and nice, but it seems it's not that far off, I also love they didn't change the chemical makeup or added some slickness - I wash my garage floor, my counter tops with it and the last thing I want is a slick floor. Cheers DIY I'm a huge fan!
Thank you for the very kind words. The only one that was go buy this now that I can recall is the DIY drying blanket. Totally blew me away. Easily rivals those 1500 GSM towels.
@@TheOutdoorDetailer i was referring to other channels i have come across every product they review is associated with a get this now or your detailing will suck kinda vibe just my 2 cents
Good video. I would like to see this done with a "Blind" test. So have someone else mix up the buckets so that you don't know which is V1 and V2. Hearing something is slicker may just make it feel that way cause you are thinking that. Would be interesting to see which if any you thought was slicker if you did not know what was in each bucket. Keep up the good work.
Exactly, and I mention this in the video. People hear new or improved and they want to believe it's 2x as good. I did notice an improvement with the sponge but it was slight. With the towel on a completely wet surface, felt the same or close.
Thank you for not getting in your knees and pleasing our god complex rinseless saviors lol. Turns out there are other people that know how to design a great product. You’ve gained my respect
Wow, thank you. I get asked what's the best and cant give an answer because people want to choose products to suit their own taste. I am the same way but try to be as objective as possible.
Same with me. With V1 my towel wanted to bunch up. I like slick on the dry off. I really did want to feel a major improvement. I couldn't say there was one though if there wasn't. There are currently 3 products I like that leave zero protection on the surface, so V2 keeping that zero protection is a good thing.
The DIY blanket is overkill for me on a rinseless wash so I've never used it for that. On a regular wash I prefer the DIY towel. For rinseless try the Amphibian towel from Autofiber. Drag the twist loop side across then wipe with the plush side. (The Gyeon large EVO drying towel is great but at 30 bucks it's too costly) end of the day on rinseless all towels feel pretty similar, and the rinseless wash is what really determines a lot of the feel.
@@TheOutdoorDetailer Have you found the Amphibian with the 75/25 blend to be just as soft as the 70/30 Liquid8r? I was leaning towards the Liquid8r due to the slightly better blend but perhaps the feel of the Amphibian is just as good or better. By the way, I love your channel.
You really can't tell with the 5% difference. The twist loop feels similar on both. I think people misunderstand what the blends do. If it was all about feeling soft, instead of 70/30 it would be 50/50 or something else. Even 80/20 is a good blend for a drying towel. The weave is also very important. The Gauntlet from TRC soaks up water but to me takes longer to do it, meaning it seems to need to wick the water into the fibers and then it's ready for more. (My very first video on the channel kind of shows this, bit in a poor way.)
You just saved me some money thank you!! Btw i am a huge fan of diy but with all the competition out there i rather keep on waiting on different reviews. I keep hearing great things about eco wash by gyeon and also Hero
Glad I could help! I love ADS, but Ecowash mixed as a drying aid used with the rinseless is pretty amazing if you want a bit of protection left behind. (Minimal) the slickness on the dry off is awesome.
I don't think I've ever seen then discuss using their rinseless wash as a windshield washer fluid before. Interesting thought. Do you have a link to one of their videos about that?
If you look for the 20 uses for rinseless it may be in there. They've mentioned it in a lot of videos over time. Definitely don't use it in freezing temperatures though.
You can dilute DIY rinseless anyway you want. 256:1 for everything is dumbed down marketing. Frankly i think its an insult to the consumers. And i really like DIY rinseless, i'm over half way through a gallon. Its an excellent cleaner.
Thing is, it does leave streaks on stuff diluted heavier, and 256:1 really does do the job. What I don't like is the 1 capful per gallon marketing because they claim a capful is 1/2 ounce but it's clearly not. They're 1/3 ounce per cap.
@@TheOutdoorDetailer 1 cap is closer to 10ml. I've used DIY at 5%/vol around the boat has a general cleaner and it worked just fine for light everyday cleaning. I disagree on the streaks. That's technique and towels.
I have a gallon of Amplify and use it in the winter. With the SiO2 based versions, you can mix as a drying aid, so no real need. On a non ceramic coated car the winter is way worse than summer.
@@TheOutdoorDetailer awesome thanks! How do you keep your drying towels from building up the SIO2 and becoming hydrophobic? I also have a gallon of Amplify v1!
I don't let them dry. If you wash immediately, or soak in a bucket with microfiber detergent, they clean up perfectly. I usually soak in a bucket for 3 or 4 days until I have enough towels to do a whole load. More than 3 or 4, the water starts stinking.
I din't use DIY too much, so i try and come up with ways to use it up. I mixed up a bottle of 256:1 , sprayed it on my hand, it's just not slick. So, if V2 is slicker, where does it actually land? V1 is far off from other products, in slickness. Solid cleaner though.
No, it never was very slick, though it does make an awesome clay towel lube. Though with a sponge it did have some slickness. I always found the issue for me was my towel wanting to bunch up drying. I didn't like feeling like I had to put effort into pushing a towel around. It has great cleaning ability though, and V2 seems no different.

Have you ever tried P&S Pearl shampoo as a rinseless wash? I have seen a lot online about using it as a rinseless and plus P&S does say it can be used as a rinseless. My last 4-5 customers I have tried it 256: 1 and I gotta say I like it a lot. It was hot here in Michigan last week, so I was using it in some pretty hot temps. I had absolutely no problems with water spots and it cleaned very very well. Obviously with Pearl being around a 9 pH It should clean better I guess. But I would love to see you try P&S Pearl and compare it with some of these big name rinseless washes. Pearl is $25 compared to $50 a gallon. Pearl is already pretty slick to begin with. I even added a 1/2 oz of P&S Absolute Rinseless in my 3 gallons of water on a couple of my customers cars to see if it would make a difference with the Pearl and I honestly couldn't see a big improvement in sickness. I have used Absolute for years now and I can say that Pearl is just as good if not better (cleaning). As a small business mobile guy I'm always trying to save $$$ without jeopardizing the quality of work I do and would love to get some opinions on Pearl as a rinseless. I've only used DIYs V1 Rinseless and I absolutely love it. But at half the cost and probably even better cleaning abilities, Pearl is intriguing me to use as my rinseless wash . Would love some thoughts on this. Thanks!
I have a gallon but have only used it as a regular wash, not a rinseless. I've also heard several times it can be used as a rinseless and will give it a try eventually, but I keep forgetting the dilution ratio that P&S says.
