Lots of good movies u got there. Smooth Talk (something almost similar to fatal attraction or basic instinct) , Fatal Beauty, Diggstown, Sharky machine, Sorcerer (really really terrific), dracula, blue thunder (also terrific)
As I have started getting into LD collecting, I like the idea of getting some movies that don’t exist in newer formats, so it’s like you are a curator of pure art. I have a couple that aren’t on newer disc formats, so I now feel a personal responsibility to keep a hold of it. BTW, the Physical LD is a “video album,” as I like to call it, where they made the album as music videos instead of getting just the album. I just got it on Monday as a curiosity at a Half Price Books, and for what it is, it is interesting. Enjoy the haul!
I think what you thought were two Steve Martin discs, one didn't have a cover, are all part of one set. I had Steve martin Live on VHS back in the day.
Lenny Bruce is actually a very interesting person. There is a movie about him called 'Lenny' starring Dustin Hoffman. I recommend learning a bit about him as he did fight for the freedom of speech in the early days of stand up comedy and paid a heavy price in fines and jail time.
I love my LD and my LD player. I don’t see them out in the wild very often anymore. But when I do, I have to go through them to see if it’s something in there that I don’t already own. Usually though I already own it. 7:34
This is one of the craziest selection of laserdiscs I have ever seen. So many weird B-movies. But some gems in there. And I'm not sure a Jaws Disco Vision labeled one isn't actually a great one to have. The Disco Vision ones are the earliest manufactured and are probably more rare, if you care about rarity.
As a fellow LaserDisc collector, congratulations on the haul! Very hard this day and age to get a big lot for such a low price. Tex Avery and Florida Straits are absolute bangers! The value on those alone is worth the cost of the lot and then some. Good luck in the future on finding a player. Keep hitting the thrifts, you may get lucky one day.
I'm sure that the laser disk. That you have double It is split up because. It is split up because they didn't have enough room on one side. It's not the same movie twice.
I got rid of all of my delays or disks except for a couple. I still have my player and. My son has the laser desks that I kept when I downsized. Those movies were incredibly expensive at the time.
Some great stuff there, that Fawlty Towers collection alone is probably worth a ton of money and you got all these for 40 bucks.👍Quicksilver, Sharky's Machine and Fatal Beauty are real overlooked '80s gems. Some of the movies I fear, are very early releases thus bound to be pan & scan versions making them quite unwatchable like King Kong, The Black Hole, The Omen, The Fog and The Thing, I'd imagine. The Panavision movies got their original aspect ratio releases some time later, I have the Universal LaserDisc of The Thing and it's great they had such classic design for their letterbox LD covers. Of course, one has to zoom the picture because any letterboxed ones are for old 4 : 3 TVs and not anamorphic, just saying to those that may be more unfamiliar with LD. Also, if you can go for a player that plays both sides (after a brief layer change pause) otherwise you'll have to leave the sofa and flip the disc over, which you'll have to do anyway with movies on 3 or 4 sides. 📀
I can't even be happy for you, you don't own a player and you paid $40 for that box... dude the Jaws Discovision was the 1st Laserdisc ever released... there are so many 1st class items in that box I just can't.... as an owner of a laserdisc player (twice over, 30 years ago and now again) what you have in that box makes me cry...
Elephant parts is a comedy of different skits if remember right . Ben on oddity archive talked about it once . Marty is a cute dog . There is only a couple of people I know the have laser discs players all have UA-cam channels Ben from oddity archive . And Dave aka Cinema sickness . Those are the only ones I know
I HAVE 3 panasonic laserdisc players all in working order PAL / NTSC formats and over 100 dicss laserdiscs are my favorites well done on a great find get a player and enjoy all the best from Scotland a fan of laserdiscs By the way videodisc are not laserdisc mate thay are RCA Player with a needle
Do you live somewhere close to Nashville tn? I'm about 40 minutes south of Nashville and saw a fb post the other day, big laserdisk sale. Either way, congrats man
Growing up, my experience with laser disc was my high school science classes: they had a Pioneer player and a few discs: do remember being impressed about its interface with chapter selections. I might find some of the U2 titles interesting, as there's not many blu-rays for sale right now. Laserdisc might still be cool for the large artwork, or maybe there were some esoteric treasures that never made it to anamorphic DVD/HD...but certainly the video quality wouldn't hold a candle to blu-ray or 4K on my current OLED TV (and many of these movie titles I have on 4K, or I know are HD).

As much as I love Lasers and the gems in this video….MY GOD this kid’s lack of knowledge and horrible enunciation was CRINGE. Anyone else annoyed by this guy? I never leave negative comments but I just couldn’t stay quiet. Great purchase for $40!
@@steelbookobsessed Contrary to popular belief, not all discs automatically have rot, only a few pressing plants had issues. Of my over 400 discs, only 10 have rot.
The videodiscs are not two copies. It's one movie spread over 2 disc's.

I gave my Pioneer laser disc player and 60 movies away to the Goodwill years ago when DVDs came out.
Oh man,you dit'n know better back then,
The black hole came out in 1979 and the black caldron was a cartoon. That came out in 1985. It was Disney's only PG Cartoon feature.

You’ll love that Nightshift great movie promise
Absolutely an '80s comedy classic, still Howard's best movie. :)

Very nice score, I have a little over 400 laser discs and counting.
The U2 Disc. Got me most excited. Nice Collection you got your hands on 😃
didnt see this in the comments yet - some of those are CEDs, not laserdiscs. look into that :). grats on the haul!

The Playboy one looks interesting 🤔 Anyway... great collection, an absolute bargain for $40.
I like Good Squid for Japanese Laserdiscs. But the shipping from Japan to the US is high.

Absolutely amazing to see these, what a tote!!
Still have the u2 laserdiscs?
As a diehard U2 fan, love those U2 discs.
Just bought a player. You’re a lucky guy. Enjoy that playboy!
Buys 100 laserdiscs, doesn't know what most of them are.

kitaro is a japanese musician, jazz/fusion ,I would not mind having that one.
I need to pop that sucker in already. That sounds like a great musical combo.

the Mike Nesmith disc isn't a movie its early long form music video
I woud also put those on my walls but there is so much posters and stuff on it already i dont have any space.
Man that White Music LD is cool.
You spent $40 on 100 laserdiscs. That means you spent 40¢ per disc.
100 discs for $40? That 'Fawlty Towers' alone is at least $30. NICE. (just started watching the video)
Yeah I got a heck of a deal on it
@@steelbookobsessed In case you're interested, I have a playlist on the format: ua-cam.com/play/PLU5h29uZLH9Llefjg1V_CtXs5NCNT6vw4.html

some of those aren't laser disc but RCA selectavision more like video records
You have so many releases.
Well no shit
You lost me when you said you didn't watch Battlestar Galactica...
If the movie was really long it usually take two ced disks
This man really bought a bunch of laserdiscs and doesn’t own a player 🤡
I’ve had one for months now.
Sadly I bet most have laser rot....
I’ve checked a bunch of them and have yet to find any disc rot. I think them staying in this tub helped out a lot.
