  • Daan Roosegaarde uses technology and creative thinking to produce imaginative, earth-friendly designs. He presents his latest projects -- from the sidewalks of Amsterdam, where he reinterpreted "The Starry Night" to get people thinking about green energy, to Beijing, where he developed a smog vacuum cleaner to purify the air in local parks, to a dance floor that generates electricity to power a DJ booth. Check out Roosegaarde's vision for a future where creativity is our true capital.

    "yes but" is the was to finding answers in making something better. A way for someone to point out something you may have missed. "Yes but" has innovated so many older inventions changing them for the better.

    I love "Yes; but" because that is the easiest type of problem to solve. A typical "Yes; but" has 21 different types of answers and over 2 million combinations of answers. Among those are lots and lots of creative ideas with hidden value. Chapter 16 of my book "Predictive Innovation: Core Skills" explains how to do it. In just 15 minutes you can solve those seemingly unsolvable problems too.

      imnickim His ideas are almost entirely promotional gimics, not actually functional in cost benefit way. There are ways to do the stuff that are effective & productive. I mapped out one for filtering air & collecting renewable energy at the same time.

    I Like the talk and his ideas!
    About the vacuums: isnt that what trees do? So how effective is the vacuum ind comparrison to trees per area?
    Does anyone posses such information?

    • @AntonietaMega
      @AntonietaMega 7 років тому +11

      Martin Schatz I think that the trees just take the CO2 off of the air. The vacuum take off the pollution, like very light (suspension) dust.

    • @pastramichop
      @pastramichop 7 років тому +5

      Trees do take smog out of the air, but its because particles stick to the leaves. Don't think it would be as effective as the towers though

    • @MartinSchatzMS
      @MartinSchatzMS 7 років тому +4

      good point! Didn't think of that. Nevertheless would be interesting to compare the Effect regarding CO2 between trees and vacuums...

    • @MartinSchatzMS
      @MartinSchatzMS 7 років тому +3

      I think that is not the main function of trees because dust on the leaves will reduce the effective area for photoysnthesis...

    YES , seems like a nice chap ... BUT how much coal powered electricity does it take to pressurise carbon dirt into Diamond ? Id assume much more then it takes to break down the coal into Smog Dirt ? Brilliant as an artistic concept ...
    YES ......... But .... I heard recently a report on how the manufacturing of the batteries for electric powered cars create CO2 that make their carbon footprint at manufacture equal to that of a petrol powered car that has already travelled 200 000 km .... ( Don't know how accurate this story was ) but one could assume solar panel manufacture might have similar issues if true ?
    YES ; BUT don't get me started on Bio Fuels ...... Destroying pristine rain forest to plant bio fuel crops and replacing food crops with bio fuel crops ....
    BUT is something to think about
    .... and wheres my Super Salmon ... I'm Hungry you You Primitive Draconian Fools !!!

      But .... ive heard rumours the emissions from the manufactureof battery powered cars are equal to the emissions of a petrol powered car after 200 000 km ( possibly a bullshit story .... I'm too lazy to double check )
      Then of course an electric powered car gets its electricity from coal power stations half the time which I assume causes more emissions then clean petrol ?
      Apparently the Hyperloop is a 200 year old idea that can never work according to the laws of physics .. See Thunderfoots several Debunking ... ( not a bullshit story ) Elon Seems like a nice chap coming from my own third world country South Africa .. Nice Cars , even if possibly not that environmentally friendly ?

    • @Adam13Chalmers
      @Adam13Chalmers 7 років тому

      An electric car does not need to get power from coal power station. Most currently do simply because that's what we have built. Humans can innovate. Battery tech has a long way to go but, but the potential to store up renewable energy and then provide reliable, continuous, and cheaper power will allow us to retire coal power plants.
