Robin Williams .... he was a great comedian ...... but he was an even greater drama actor. 🥲
funny how that works. Jim Carrey is a very good dramatic actor too. Denis Leary and Jamie Foxx also.
Robin Williams was something greater than an actor... he was pure genius and lightening in a bottle. Given, he would make you laugh, cry, scream, tell, sob uncontrollable, and everything in between. Pure genius.
And an even greater man
When Robin Williams died, people across the world stood on their desks to honor him.
(I was one of them-on the teacher desk in my own English classroom. ❤️)
Ditto.
Year 32 and counting. That movie, and Mr. Holland's Opus.... they both break me into little pieces every time I watch them.
❤️💯😭😭😭😭
Robin Williams is the only celebrity death that ever made me weep. Still sucks that he's gone.
For me, Robin Williams, Jim Henson, and Fred Rogers.
Alan Rickman
Chester Bennington, Robin Williams, Paul Walker, Heath Ledger. All real ones.
Me too.
When you realize that the educational system wants you to learn but doesn't want you to think.
It used to, I had amazing literature teachers in college that taught critical thinking and to question everything, including that the books narrator itself may be lying. Today it’s think how we say
Trust me, they want you to think.
@@knightmare5097Not anymore.
@@rytlocknroll Prove it
@@knightmare5097 I shouldn’t have to prove it to you. It is your initiative to look into what some schools are prioritizing over an actual education (i.e Math, History, Language Arts, Science, etc)
Maybe then you’ll see how crooked and vile the school boards are.
My husband decided on teaching as a profession in part because of this movie. He then proceeded to buck the public school system for 27 years and actually TEACH high schoolers to think for themselves. His students were among many of the attendees at his memorial service. They still pop up every few months, devastated when they learn of his passing, wanting to share with me all he taught them. ❤
I'm sure your husband is still extremely proud of those lads. Teachers don't get enough credit, considering a good one will be one for a lifetime. Considering what you said about his students, it's a monumental testament to his character. :)
Saw this in the theatre and cried like a baby. I miss Robin Williams.
I watched in the theatre too and I couldn’t stop crying!!!
I was twelve years old when I saw this in the theater. This was the first time a scene truly resonated with me. Still does.
RIP Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014), age 63
You will be remembered as a legend.
Watching this I have 2 thoughts - I need to watch this film again as it's been to long, and what a one-in-a-lifetime talent Robin Williams was and what a tragedy his loss was for all of us.
I briefly met Mr. Williams once, circa late 1980s. He was one of the more human and humane people I'd ever met - spontaneously creative yet fixedly humble at least around the general public - I recall him wondering why a server at the Auberge was "off her game" that day, and trying to cheer her up. I also remember thinking that when he grasped my hand in a "hello, good to meet you" shake: 1) he meant it and 2) his grip was much stronger than I'd expected. I was just a bystander that day, but his grip and his eyes said "welcome, friend." The world still has not realized how much it lost when Mr. Williams passed. Requiescat in pace, Sir Robin.
One of the most powerful and beautiful scenes in film history. R.I.P to Robin Williams. 🙏❤
A great moment in film history. Miss you, Robin...
The producers/director asked the actors to write an essay to justify why their character should stand. They were told only 7 of them would be chosen. One person said that his character had not participated all year and he HAD to stand to honor Keating. They told him they always intended for him to stand and that he would be the last one to stand.
I think they mentioned that there was one take where the entire class stood on their desks. Not sure if they ever filmed it.
Even if they didn’t film it, all those actors got to experience standing on the desk. This was such a powerful scene. Even some of the reactors stood when they watched it.
Thanks for sharing this background information.
I like that not all stood.. It is more realistic and shows the world for what it is with cognitive conformity. Just like itln the real world...
@@twohammersverdanskaddict8567 It also showed that those who didn’t stand (literally) for what they knew was the truth were instead looking down in shame. They had been cowed into submission by the system that would control them for the rest of their lives.
I also think it’s better that some kids didn’t stand. Honestly, some might not have been inspired by Mr. Keating as Todd and the others were, and that’s okay too. They’re not necessarily all cowards like the red haired kid who knew that he was being railroaded.
No thank you Robin. Thank you so much for everything you did. You will never be forgotten
One of the best movie finale ever.
Every time I see this scene, I always cry.
you want THE most powerful ending? Try watching Chris Eska's *Doki-Doki* (uplifting version a.k.a. PBS ending) It literally had me talking to my T.V. once I realized where it was going. If you want the saddest rip your heart out of your chest so you never want to see a movie again ending, try the original *grave of the fireflies* anime
They free themselves from the shackles of this unspeakable school system that does not allow free thoughts. Robin Williams was the ideal portrayer of a free spirit.
I love this movie ❤❤❤
RIP ROBIN.
when robin died. jimmy fallon stepped up onto his desk on his show and paid the same tribute. OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN! prety near kilt me.
I didn’t know that. Thanks for sharing.
I just posted about this, too-many of us did. ❤️
we stood on the seats in the theatre
We did too! 🙂 Greets from germany~
That’s impressive.
No you didn't
Who's peeling onions in here?
I'm not crying! You're crying!
I am the ninja onion chopper and don't worry, this is double edge-sword 🥷🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅
I'm not crying...
I'm cosplaying as a waterfall.
Dude you are picking the best scenes and uploading great reactions. Don't stop please!!! ❤
Jimmy Fallon's tribute Robin Williams was the best!!
I used to rewind this scene and watch it again and again to cry it all out. What a movie!
Me too... really opened my eyes as a young man... to love.. laughter.. emotion.. non conformity... look for the beauty in everything..
"O Captain my captain"...was about Abraham Lincoln (by Walt Whitman)...
The first Republican himself, ol honest Abe.
Thanks, the first I ever seen it was in 'White Squall' 1996 film.
@@JohnDoe-kh6mt - Too bad the part of Lincoln is dead. Drown in a cult of personality following a ciovncted rapist, fraud, conman and dictator wannabe.
I’m 67 and had the same reactions as all of you when I first saw this many years ago ❤️
This film is amazing and this scene is legendary
Art is so important: see how easy it is to side with the Resistance when it’s fictional? How is it so hard to understand it in real life? ✊🏽
Because most people like to pretend they are morally incorruptible and live out these delusions in movies such as these.
The fact of the matter is, most would rather become guards in camps instead of prisoners doomed to perish, and morals go out the window for most when push comes to shove.
The book Ordinary Men discusses such moral questions in length, I highly recommend it.
@@k3rc4 you are right but from time to time we see this happening like we are now witnessing in US Universities and I couldn’t be more proud of those students!
We miss you Captain...OUR Captain!
My niece found the book where these famous words came from at a store-I salute the young men and Robin.
When this film was released in the theater, I distinctly remember after this scene, the entire theater being emotionally charged. I can only recall one other film watching in a theater that for a moment, you actually forgot it was just a movie. Robin Williams was absolutely magnificent in this....O' Captain My Captain... you are greatly missed by many.
I love these videos! I’ve seen these movies so many times I’ve become jaded to any emotional impact they may have, so seeing it still affect people after so many years is truly amazing.
One of the single best cinematic moments ever!
“Farewell Mr. Bunting” if you know, you know 😉
Thanks, now I know, and I did laugh A LOT...
Immediately scrolled through to see if anyone else mentioned it. One of the greatest SNL sketches of all time.
I have never not laughed hard when watching it
I sing my song for all to hear
You have to know it makes a great impact when Shanelle "I don't cry on camera" Riccio starts crying on camera. Love everyone's reaction to this epic movie.
I was 17 when it came out. Talk about made a mark on me in many young men that watch this. To think for Ourselves entheses the day and live it well
"Please don't worry so much. Because in the end, none of us are allowed to stay on this Earth for long. Life is fleeting and if by chance you are in difficulty, look up at the summer sky with the stars scattered in the velvety night. When a shooting star streaks through the darkness of the night, turning night into day with its glow, make a wish and think of me. Make your life spectacular. I know I did it." (Robin Williams)
😭
when Robin Williams died, Jimmy Fallon did this tribute to him on his show and it broke me. "O Captain! My Captain!" such a epic movie.
God, I miss Robin Williams. The world would be so much better if he had been around longer.
The world is so much better for him having been here.
Only the good die young❤
R.I.P. Robin
Robin Williams & Rik Mayall…the only celebrity deaths that made me cry…I love people that can make me laugh
Here's a list of movies they could watch cause have a good plot twist:
- Incendies
- Prestige
- Arrival
- Shutter Island
- The Skin I Live In
- Interstellar
- Gone Girl
- Oldboy
- Get Out
this channel is exactly what i needed
Octokrool you can see it hit them as it hit me. No words.
For me this was one of Robins best dramatic roles alongside Good Will Hunting and Bicentennial Man.
He's everything in these movies that we saw of him IRL, funny, humble, thoughtful, observant, quick witted and sadly tragic at the same time..
It still hurts that he's gone but we have his legacy of work to remember him by...
Nanu Nanu Mork, We'll see you after...
First movie to ever make me cry. I was 12 and couldn't figure out how a movie could make me cry 😅.
You should do the scene from the end of Return of the King, "you bow to no men". Gets me everytime. 😭
It's "you bow to no one".
Thank you my captain! Rest in peace!
Captain! My Captain!
I sing my song for all to hear!
I’m convinced that anyone who doesn’t cry at some point during this movie is a sociopath…or they weren’t watching it closely.
Change your perspective… all the time, every day ❤
Meeks would have become the first tech company billionaire
One of the best aspects in this scene is seeing each kid battling with himself for a few seconds to muster the courage to stand. They know that they want to, but also know what that would mean for their future.
I'd be so worried about tipping the desk over lol.
everyone seems to miss the symbolism... when they stand on their desks and say *"Oh captain, my captain."* they're watching him "go down with the ship"
I haven't watched DPS since Robin passed. Y'all had me ugly crying with a 30 seconds clip. It's a good movie.
This film, Awakenings and Good Will Hunting was where we got to see Robin step out of comedy and into drama, and as far as I can tell, he was great at everything he put his attention too.
You have no IDEA 💡 how badly I wish I still had my Mork from Ork Suspenders. I had to beg and plead. When we (my brothers and I) were out shopping we weren't allowed to run around, talk loudly, or ask for things.
But I saw the last pair on the rack and grabbed them. I didn't make a scene, as that would have ensured no suspenders, but Many hours in my room to reflect on how we conduct ourselves in public.
I think they were maybe $10, but those were 1982 Dollars. My family had to wait for some of those money crumbs to trickle down to us poor folk that were living in the bliss of Reaganomics.
I promised to pay back with my allowance and any chores my grandad paid us for, cutting the lawn, watering the garden, etc.
And they were no doubt sent to a landfill within a week of me leaving for college.
It is possible that Robin Williams was the reincarnation of William Shakespeare.❤
Just wanted to say I love this channel !!! Keep up the good work :) Hopefully they will still make movies with surprise endings sorta speak. CHEERS ! and thank you !
Most of my favorite inspirational movies have Robin Williams in it from Patch Adam's to Bicentennial Man ect.
There's a serious lack of EOM Reacts on this channel's videos.
You all are missing literally the best reaction to almost all these scenes.
2:12 OMG I've never cried to a _reaction_ video before!! 😭
The reaction of the 2nd reactor, perfect. ❤
R.I.P To A Great Actor Comedian Robin Williams, Still Miss You Always 😢 & Great Reactions Everyone,Nice
You sure know how to pull the heart wrenchers!
The 90s and early 2000s were a golden age in Hollywood imo. So many great movies, Dead poets society, Good will hunting, The Usual Suspects, Identity, Silence of the Lambs, Forest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, Fight Club, American History X, and so many more. Hell, I didn't even start on the action flicks, and this was the action flick era. Watching some of these masterpieces really clarifies just how far the entertainment industry has fallen when it comes to creativity and quality.
Pretty much the 70's - the early 00's - that run of 30 years will never be matched. It's *very* rare that I see a movie these days as good as the best of what was done during that 30 year period. If I do, it's like discovering a diamond in the Grand Canyon.
I remember reading somewhere (not certain if it’s true) that director Peter Weir had the film’s score composer direct the final scene in order for his music to match perfectly. 🤗
We all love ❤️ & miss you 😔 Robin Williams.
Amazing scene.
Such a wonderful movie. It is one of those movies, when you are searching for something to watch on a rainy day and see it on the list, and play it no matter where in the movie it is.
(ps. I am so grateful that gray sweatpants exist)
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Everyone of these reactors should’ve immediately watched the SNL sketch Farewell Mr. Bunting after watching this.
One of the best things SNL has ever done. The first time I saw it at the time, I couldn't believe what a perfect joke it was. lol
I actually had Mary from _Movies with Mary_ (@3:52) watch the Mr. Bunting SNL skit on her Twitch stream (her _Dead Poets Society_ reaction was my movie request). He loved the film so she gladly watched the skit. I clipped her reaction but I don't think YT allows it to be posted here in comments. But we'll give it a shot:

You should maybe try a montage of reactions to Loki getting rag dolled by the Hulk in The Avengers. 😂
i like that you make a lot of videos
Just weirdly fallen upon your channel....
Im undecided if I like the multiple plays of people's reactions (like singular) or the group reactions 😂
Such an amazing film! this is cinema at is best :)
every time i see his face i want to cry
The superb Ethan Hawke and Robin Williams
Is this the new TS album?
Watch these Comedies: It's Hard Not to Love Mrs. Doubtfire ,The Ringer, Date Night, Gabriel Iglesias: Stadium Fluffy , Jo Koy : Don't Make Him Angry , The 40-Year-Old Virgin , You Don't Mess with the Zohan
If you’re taking suggestions, please do the lunch/deli scene from When Harry Met Sally.
Carry on the fight for free thought, boys! ✊
O Captain! My Captain!
If you are just one you are a genius! Even if you are more than one! 🤩🤩🤩
Im not crying .. youre crying
#RIPRobinWilliams
I want reaction channels to give Scent of a Woman some attention.
COMPILATION SUGGESTION: Reactions to the "wishbone" cave death scene in "Bone Tomahawk". If there's more than a few reactions to that sequence, it would be an hysterical compilation. lol
This movie makes me like my last name, Pitts
That scene but with a Ceiling Fan will be Funny.
They just don't make as many good movies these days. So many phenomenal movies from the 80s and 90s.
They need to reactions the halfway point scene in Parasite
Um dos melhores filmes que assisti.
We need a reaction compilation of Rudy taking the field
No, thank you Robin, thank you! 🥲
I'm Spartacus..... no, I'm Spartacus.....
you got to do ending of "HACKSAW RIDGE " reaction.
What does "Schnege" mean when you saw the kids who didn't stand up? I know it's a bad word, just would like to know what it means over there!! Love you Ash!!
Can we do the Alien sighting at the childs birthday party in Signs next ??
Damn. Not enough reactions, honestly. Could have watched this hit for another good while.
Can you do a reaction compilation to the iconic laser scene in the James Bond movie Goldfinger?
good movie.... another good scene for react is the ending scene in "Ghost" Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, the "goodbye Sam" scene.
Jajaja that was lame sorry
