Third chimney fell slightly off course and crossed over the boundary fence totally writing off a three week old Northumbria Police car.
Last chimney also fell the wrong way and did substantial damage to the transformer bushings within the building at the front of the footage.

Yeah, I was going to say, it sure looked like the last one fell in an entirely wrong direction. I've seen old timers manually drop cement stave silos on farms with more accuracy than many of these demolition based stack drops.

The third one fell slightly off course and wiped out a police car, the fourth one fell way of course and wiped out a small transformer building.
@@krashd I've never heard that?. Im from blyth and was never told anything about that. Im assuming no cars wouldn't have been anywhere near the site when the chimneys fell. None of the surrounding fencing were damaged and no police cars wouldn't have been inside the compound. Possibly the transformer building but i doubt the police car

It was planned demolition. A couple went off course cause some damage but everyone was clear. A cop car got smashed I think though.

Sadly I missed the demolition of the chimneys, but I do remember a visit to the power station in the late 60s or maybe it was in the 70s. My friend's dad worked there so there was an open day, so see how it all worked. OK, there were turbines etc, but what I recall most was that ice cream was free for the kids ... and you could go back for more as often as you wanted. .. Think I went 4 times .. or was it 5🍦🍦
