The most cinematic way to represent Tolkien's life would be every other scene being set on Middle Earth as he is writing about it, specially several versions of the same character/story as Tolkien refines it.
I really dislike it when biopics undermine the creative process by making the protagonist not think of something by themselves, but instead taking the concepts from dreams, hallucinations, suggestions by other characters or a random advertisment in their line of sight.
Like, imagine if they made a Tony Goldmark biopic and some character insults him by saying "you're such a jerk", but Tony sees an ad for cameras behind that person and replies "I might be a jerk, but I'm some jerk with a camera".

Even Experimental Film ended with Mike and Craig creating Homestar.

WARNING: The following comment contains vitriol: This movie turned out to be just another garden-variety biopic designed and engineered as awards season trophy bait. To the ordinary list of problems with the conventional biopic - boring, shallow, pandering, formulaic - we can add farcical, as the footage in no way does any justice to Tolkien, Edith or the T.C.B.S., especially by having them portrayed by actors who resemble teenagers. Considering that Bohemian Rhapsody enthusiastically denigrated Freddy Mercury's memory and made truckloads of cash without anyone rightly caring, I guess I shouldn't be shocked at this abortion of a biopic.
