Love this little railway: travelled on it many times as a child. Wee little trains that think they are big trains, inspiring just as much love as their full size cousins.
My nan lives right next to a crossing, like literally the closed house to the rails so I very much enjoy goigg to her house and sitting in the window for hours on end just spotting trains

@@LukeAlfordUKsteam this railway has a very special place in my heart. My late father used to take us there. Seeing this reminds me of him. He always liked engines 5 and 6. Thank you so much for posting this. It really brings back memories.
@@AaronOxfordExmouth1989 No problem its a great railway and you must have very good memories of it. These trains look and sound best at speed in my opinion.
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam I just really want to see one of those locos truly stretch its legs fastest it can go on great tracks. There is nothing more magical as steam at high speed
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam the RHDR has already had a few accidents ending up with engines on their sides as a result of collisions on level crossings, now it looks like they could roll themselves over taking a badly laid curve at speed...
@@richardharrold9736 Yeah it certainly looks like the tracks would benefit from being relaid. Part of the problem seems like the surface underneath the tracks isn't level, so levelling and then relaying the tracks would work wonders. It wouldn't be about increasing top speed, since all heritage railways are limited to 25mph, but it would result in a smoother ride quality.

I agree. It's great fun riding the line. The coaches sway from side to side a lot. And a big perk is it goes to Dungeness which is a beautiful place.
Love the RHDR

As I'm writing this the visitor engine for the Halloween special just came past

Wow that's a lot of emojis
Great video! I love the RH&DR
Thanks this video was a pleasure to film.
They are really shifting luke
The speed they go is 25mph which is a scale speed of 100mph
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam yeah bit different to the standard gauge line where they go to 100mph or 125mph
Look at the locos and the carriages shaking from one side to the other
The track is still bumpy today.
Cool
They have quite some speed to there size! 😂 Great video!
Yeah and they wobble a lot. I'm down in kent now filming some more footage for the next part!
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam Terrific fun at 2x speed! Great video, many thanks from here in River, Dover.
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam that would appear to be down to the diabolical state of the track visible in this video!
1.09. The track Looks like the Chinese coal pit railway, elsewhere on YT.
I see what you mean its very wobbly and lumpy. The long zoom exaggerates the bumpiness but even so its still a rough ride.
Fantastic! Well captured.
Thanks my grandparents live very close to here so I can just walk up whenever a train is due

Hurricane is the best loco hands down
Gotta agree with that. Im hoping itll be out today as im in the area for more filming and riding the railway.
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam am just watching live railcam rn and Hurricane is in New Romney this moment leaving for Hythe soon
@@xYoshiLP. I'm at at Hythe station now. My loco for the day is samson but ill do some more filming afterwards
I can see the people’s hand out of the carriages
Yeah sometimes while on this railway we just keep the door open theyre pretty relaxed about it all.
@@LukeAlfordUKsteam I know
The tracks seem to be in a real poor condition. But damn Id love to ride it.
It is a wild ride perfectly safe though. And yes its a great ride!

How fast are they actually going
25mph which is scale express speed for them.
They are fast as cheaters
Nearly and it does feel like it when you're riding them
The videography would be better by letting the trains fill the frame before zooming back.
I agree and this was the first video I ever filmed with my camcorder Ive got quite good at it now.
