I’ve had locs for 3 years, I’d recommend low maintenance , don’t Retwist or tight styles often because that can cause thinning, breakage and I’ve seen some ppl locs break completely off

Mine did. I made two major mistakes though. I went to two different shops depending on my availability. Two different locking styles. Two I went too much after my locs finally locked.
I literally just got permanent loc extensions at the end of last month and I also paid $1000. And I love my locs despite everyone saying that I "cheated"

fax essential oils a must alot of people say dont wash your hair often but water is a key element of helping speed up the loccing process. but tbh all you gotta do is find what fits and works for you and your hair

Getting locs was the best decision ever for me. I was natural for awhile and those wash days and twist outs got old girl. I’ve had mine for a year now! You’ll love it! Whoever did your extensions did a good job. Welcome to the loc life sis 😝
I’ve had my locs for 8 years ... TIP - do not get your hair done too much or do too many up-do hairstyles, your hair will start to break. Also washing your hair once a month will help your hair grow. Try to use light oils on your hair. Btw!! Welcome to the loc community!! (I recently cut mine off in the summer and got mine reattached a month ago because I missed them so much)

Hey girl hey! I’ve been in the loc game for a little over a year now and some advice is if you struggle with dry scalp Natural oils like peppermint, flaxseed etc are the key to success!!

Hey boo! I got my locs installed last June. They are sisterlocks and ran me 1k too. However, they are really tiny. I like it because it allows me to style my hair anyway I want without the maintenance of loose natural hair. I love your locs!

Keep your hair and scalp moisturized with oils, and if you wet your hair allow it time to dry to reduce chances of your locs mildewing. Happy for you! Welcome to the loc community ❤️
I’ve been locc’ed for 7 months:) and i added extensions to my hair. I use the 4 point interlocking method when i tighten my locs because i like how long the “fresh parts” last!!! I only do it 1x every 2 1/2 months, my hair has started growing very fast ever since. Your locs look gorgeous🥰

Deciding to get locs was the best thing I’ve ever done( I’m all natural). All I do it wake up and go. Oil it on the ends and roots then walk out. I stared 4 months ago and it’s growing fast, i love it! Ppl will say extensions are cheating but some ppl aren’t patient enough for the baby and teen stage
Yes !!!! Welcome to the loc family, I’m one month loc’d , two strand is my go to ! And tip for your locs, is keep moisturized, keep it clean, NEVER USE GEL TO RETWIST, and enjoy your hair 🧡🙂
I just combed out my locs after 6 months and a week later started over. I wanted smaller parts so it could look fuller! That week of not having them was the worse lol, I didn’t know what to do with my hair.
Some advice- don’t use a lot of products, retwist doesn’t really require loc and twist gels etc. they can cause build up. Wrap your hair up at night to avoid getting lint and stuff in your hair. Don’t be afraid of water, water moisturizes then you can seal that in with oil. Also after a few months I noticed my scalp started getting flaky and it’s kinda common for people who started locs. Not everybody scalp gets flaky, but it’s annoying because it gets caught in each loc at the root. So I’d advise using a shampoo for dry flaky scalp to prevent it before it happens in case it does. Lastly enjoy your locs! Hope that helps! ❤️

I’m loc’d again after cutting my hair . I would say .. Don’t get your hair done to much .. wait to wash your hair , when you do not to often . And don’t pull on your hair to much it can cause damage in the long run .

I locked my hair for the same reason 3 years ago. Tips for taking care of your locks.
1.Always were a silk bonnet and get a silk pillow case if you can (lint from cotton can get trapped in your locks) when you go to bed
2. Moisturize your hair at least once a week.
3. Don’t use heavy products like conditioner only use shampoo and less product used the better product. Product can build up in your hair and get trapped.
4. Don’t tighten your hair to often or you will damage your hair follicles in your roots.
5. If you’re going to ever dye your hair use natural or close to natural dyes and not synthetic.
What kind of moisturizer do you recommend?
@@yajay5118 I stick to organic liquid oils like Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Argon Oil, Grapeseed and Avocado. If you should use over the counter hair products makes sure it is water based and not to heavy and thick (ensure it’s from a reputable black hair care brands).Oh by the way when actually moisturizing the hair place a warm towel on your scalp to open up the roots to really absorb the oils and remember to oil the shaft and tips (massage gently). Hope this was helpful 😌👍

I’m coming up on 6 years of being loc’d . Best thing ever ! My advice is don’t do too much . Don’t use too much products , don’t retwist too much & don’t style or manipulate it too much . Just go with the flow and learn what your hair likes .

I'm part of the loc world for almost 7 years. I don't feel a way about extensions, I just hate when people say dreads instead of locs. But anyway, you look good girl! I like them better on you, out of the twist and crinkled like that😍 Nice choice, expensive, but not a bad idea
Girl I was literally crying cause I started my loc journey yesterday and just now I was kinda stressing over weather or not I made the right decision, or if I'd miss my fro after a while.. I’ve had my locs for 6 years. So happy for you & your love journey!!! My best advice is KEEP THEM MOISTURIZED! so they remain healthy over the year. And always wear your scarf while sleeping. Basically just take care of them and let them be! 💜💜💜

No joke, i put my natural hair into 2 strand twist and ive been wearing them like dreads. I save SO MUCH TIME getting ready in the morning. I literally just take off my bonnet and go. I love this. I might get permanent locs.
Just leave the twists in. They will lock on their own

I would say to help with smell, make sure you dry your hair when you wash them. Peppermint oil, tea tree oil, and rose water are great option for moisture.
