How to install Darthmod + all factions for Empire Total War

I made a step by step guide on how to install both Darthmod and the all factions mod for Empire Total War.
Sorry if the video seems a little long, but I really wanted to cover everything and get it right.

Hello everyone, I had no idea this video would even get over 50 views but I'm really happy to see it has helped so many people, however some people are still having some issues with the install. Since quiet a few people have been commenting and I find it hard to reply individually, I thought I would try to list some possible fixes in a pinned comment.
GENERAL FIX:
First things first, make sure you are not actively running any other mods. For example, if you have Imperial Splendour installed, be sure to open that launcher, turn the mod off, then try to launch Darthmod. If possible, it is best to install Darthmod with a clean vanilla version of the game with no other mods installed at all, this will negate the chances of other mods messing up Darthmod files and causing a failed launch.
CRASHING AFTER DARTHMOD LOGO APPEARS:
A lot of people are having the problem whereby the Darthmod title screen appears but the game instantly crashes, the only fix for this I know is as such:
Go to your file explorer then type in the top bar (not the search bar to the right, the directory on top) then type in '%appdata%', then find 'The Creative Assembly' folder and delete the 'Empire' folder then go to steam and verify the integrity of the game cache. This will happen automatically when you try to launch the game from steam. If you don't have an empire folder in the creative assembly folder, it will be because you have done a fresh install of the game without running it. Simply turn off darthmod in the launcher so the game will launch in vanilla, start any campaign, save the game and exit the game, an Empire folder should now be created. Take note that after doing this, all saved games you have on Empire will be deleted. If you are halfway through a campaign you don't want to end yet, be sure to finish that up before trying out this fix. This fix hasn't worked for everyone, but it has personally worked for me in the past, I have no other solution to this problem so if this doesn't work for you, I would recommend looking at some forums or threads on this issue.
'PLEASE INSERT DISK 2' ISSUE:
Some people are still getting the 'please insert disk 2' problem. From what I have seen from this there are two things I see people doing wrong and a name issue I'll go over.
First off, some people are downloading the file from google then just leaving it their desktop thinking it has been extracted. The file that I kept on my desktop was extracted. You need to make sure after downloading part 2 from google that you extract the file from inside it. For me I needed WINRAR to extract the .rar file then simply placed it on my desktop. Another problem I see is that some people already have extraction software without realising it, and the file is not being downloaded as a .rar file but simply a .zip file. If this is the case you don't need to install WINRAR at all but you can simply right click on the file and extract it to your desktop. In either case, MAKE SURE THE FILE IS EXTRACTED, if it has been extracted then it won't matter where it's stored.
Some people have the problem that the file might not be named correctly after extracting it. You must make sure the spaces and the (1).2 at the end of the file is correct, if the name is wrong the darthmod installer can't detect the file. Thanks for posting this one in the comments hope it helps.
FILE LOACTION:
If you can't locate your steamapps folder, go to your steam library, right click on empire total war, go to properties and browse local files. This will locate the steam directory on your PC. If you have a steam version of the game installed via steam, you will have a steamapps folder, it just might be in another location.
TEXTURE PACK:
I'm pretty sure the texture pack is actually broken. From what i've experienced it doesn't even make a difference in game and for some people it is the cause of the game crashing, so I would actually recommend not bothering to insert that into your files.
CHANGING UNITS:
If you are playing a faction that isn't available in the base game some of your units will change types. For example, if you play as Venice and one turn you have a unit of militia but the next turn it turns into Line Infantry, this is because the startpos file has had to be altered and unfortunately there is no way around this, you'll just have to put up with inconsistent armies but usually it isn't too big a problem.
EXTRA UNITS:
If you have seen playthroughs of the mod and the units you have are different to the units other people have it is usually because they will have installed additional unit mods which also work with Darthmod, it is not a problem with the mod, just that new mods must be installed.
FOG OF WAR:
Unfortunately there is not way to get rid of the fog of war glitch, so even when your empire is large, it's best to have units of militia in all of your settlements to uncover the fog that usually recovers ungarrisoned settlements in a couple of turns.
I really hope some of these can help any of you that are having problems with the installation. If I find any other concrete ways to solve issues I'll edit this comment and add them, but for now these are basically the only fixes I know of for these issues. If you are having problems, be sure to also check out total war forum posts and discussions before giving up, maybe someone out there has the answer. Thank you!

I got it to launch correctly, but when I go to play a campaign, the maps are still vanilla and I cannot play as other factions. If someone knows what I missed, I would appreciate it greatly!

hey man great vid very useful but i have problem, for the factions mod i did exactly the same as you but when i start the game there aren't all the factions idk why.
when i start up the game, it gets to the darthmod purple icon, or loading screen, and then crashes. windows says there is an unknown problem. any ideas?

Hi mate, thanks a lot for the tutorial, very good guidance. I just have a question about an issue I got, for some reason it won´t let me play with many of the other factions in an "Ultimate Early" campaign, they only appear if I charge the game with the Ultimate late campaign; and not even emerging factions, for example I want to play with the Italian States in an early game, but it wont let me. Do you what could be the problem? I have Darthmod.

I have seen videos of people playing darthmod starting in 1783, but that is not available on this darthmod, only uprising, right?
Watched a video on how to do this. Didn't work because the file didn't automatically pop in there. Thought I found the right file. I know now that I didn't. I'm gonna try it again now that you've explained what to look for. Thanks and Hopefully it works!!

To play as Greece punjab etc etc dose it have to be in the late campaign? If I go to costom or early campaign, it's the standard factions ?

FIXED MY INSTALL DISK 2 PROBLEM. It isn't said in his comment but if you do have the file unzipped it might not be named correctly. Make sure that the spaces and the (1).2 is correct at the end of the file. Others had issues with spacing. Hope this helps as this took me 3 hours to figure out.

Could you make a video on how to fix that fog of war bug? its annoying and u cant upgrade most of settlements if u dont have any units near them :(((
My only issue right now is the fog of war glitch. Your solution at the end of your video did help me for the early game, however as I grew my empire in size it becomes harder to upgrade my towns, region capitals, farms, etc. Have you found a permanent solution to this bug?
Ah, unfortunately not. There are two solutions I can think of, one is enter cheat commands. If you toggle the fog of war off in the cheat command it will reveal everything and after you've finished doing everything to your towns you can turn it back off, but seeing other enemy positions is inevitable, so im not sure how comfortable you'd be with that. Second is I would recommend always having a single unit of militia in all of your settlements. It might be a pain late game when you have so many but as far as I can see it's the only way to fix this fog of war thing without commands. Hope this helps.
my game crash after all fully installed. the crash came after i started the game. the dartmode logo show up but after that the game was force close. what happened?
Awesome video. I have successfully downloaded the Darthmod version. But with the unlock all factions mod it doesnt seem to work. Once ive downloaded the file the icon on my desktop doesnt resemble the same icon. Although it says it is a RAR file I cannot extract the files. Do I need to have an app for exteacting? If so, which one would you reccommend. Thanks

Thanks a lot Mr. Brony! Though the "all factions" mod is kinda annoying, buggy and problematic so I won't install it unless there'll be a better version of it

My Problem is, that i dont have all these single files which end with ".pack" in my data folder. I only have Custom, DME, Empire and Mp. I've reinstalled it many times, and done all the steps correctly. Deas someone know how to fix this
Great tutorial followed it step by step but still got the usual error messages won't advance past the purple Darthmod logo.
So lost. When mine downloads there’s no folder whatsoever. It just makes a file that I can’t open at all. Such a shame. No video goes over that part at all.
Works like a charm for DME Late, doesn't work for DME Early. DME Early boots up with vanilla selection.

My Darthmod part 2 is a Zip file. When I opened Darthmod part 1, it asked me for a disk, as you mentioned it would in the video. Please, can you help me?
Ok, did you extract the Zip file? If not, take the file to your desktop, right click on it and click 'extract here'. This will make the extracted file appear on the desktop and you can then proceed with the download.

@@tm-dk8ew so now, my Darthmod wont load a save file which I had from vanilla that managed to transform from Vanilla to Darthmod and worked perfectly fine, but since yesterday it started to not load normally and the campaign game map and everything was running while my screen only displayed the loading screen, could you please help me?
Edit: Same thing if I try to start a new Grand Campaign for when having Ultimate Old and Ultimate Early.
@@r3strt ah yes, that's a bit of an issue. I had this problem as well, but I hope that save file wasn't too important to you since the solution requires you to delete a folder which will delete all saves on your game. I'm not sure how the vanilla file transferred to Darthmod, idk if that's actually supposed to happen but basically the solution is this; Assuming ur using windows 10, open up 'File Explorer', in the bar att the top type in '%AppData%', head on down to 'The Creative Assembly' folder then delete the entire 'Empire' folder. Then it's best to verify game cache on steam by right clicking on empire (on ur steam library), go to properties, then Local Files, then Verify Integrity of Game files, then it's best to restart your PC then load up the game.
This is really the only fix I know for this type of problem so i'm really sorry if it doesn't work, but take warning, if it doesn't work it will still have deleted all the saves on your game, so whether you want to proceed with this is up to you. Really hope this helps, if not I would recommend looking at some darthmod fixes since I think this problem has happened to a few people.
