there are some flaws with the game i found with this type of battlefield first being when manning the battlements with infantry your firepower is reduced to a third as only the first line of infantry shoot whilst the second and third lines of men just stand until the first line man that is in front dies. You end up with a lot of dead and inflicting not enough casualties on the attacking force. I found best strategy was to not use the wall fortifications or buildings to garrison. Build the trench walls inside the main fornication wall. where you use the main fortification wall to protect you from artillery even when the wall collapse. have the trench walls where the attacking force going to come this mainly around the gatehouses. use the land mines that some infantry types have and place them tactically inside the fornication. use stacks planted in the ground that some infantry types offer inside the fortification around tactical areas. use the fence pikes in tactical places like gatehouses to kill the cavalry even if enemy still has no Calvary still use the as still an obstacle for infantry as will slow them down so a bigger chance to get to load another volley of fire or more than one. have the artillery guns fire grape shot facing the gatehouses where the distance measurement on grape shot is just on the outskirts of the gatehouse. got to the point for me have multiple enemy armies attack me all at once like 30,0000 ish with my army being 2000 ish. as the attacking force tended to bottle neck and not all attack at once so i could concentrate firepower on the part of the force was attacking and didn't get overwhelmed as with those number the attacking force didn't all come at once.
Yes, it was odd that the British were getting hit more when they were the ones behind fortifications. With their vantage points, they were hardly hitting any of the enemy.
why I preferred defending Europen star forts, the walls weren't so quick to be breached....though either one I would give up the walls to the computer and then their forces would enter through the gates' chocked points and get wasted by cannon and musket fire.,
try empire 2, insane mod that for me was better than darth, not that I have anything agiast great old dark but empire 2 just had more features, campaign mechanics, units, graphics, etc
before british world says subcontinent name THE GOLDEN SPAROW and then british come and killed lot of our poeples and taked these lands and theaft everything and run away
are you using any submod for british uniforms? just installed DME 8.0.1 and my British line infantry is red and white only, not this model red-white-blue, like in the Patriot movie
One more question: I see your infantry is using mass fire, i mean...all ranks fire simultaneously, not just the first rank, are you using the Bran Mac Born's DME Mod or something like that...or is this part of Darthmod itself?
hey Im new to Empire (along with Darth Mod) how do you get 300 people per regiment? I've set my unit size to ultra but it only goes to 160, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Anyway to get 300 or say 2x ultra size units, go to "%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts", here edit the user.script.txt and add the line : campaign_unit_multiplier 2 2 will double the ultra size of units, say you had 160 men in a unit on ultra, now that will be 320 men in that unit. Change 2 to whatever number you like, it can be in decimal points as well since it's a float.

I really want to like this game, I come back to it every year or so, always with Darthmod, then I play a few battles and remember why it's so bad.

Darthmod and this game is still amazing. Glitches and bad ai, but overall still nostalgic. I still play from time to time.
New engine coming out soon for it that will sharpen up total wars AI's and glitches that dogged it in the past. They finally listened to us.
