Thank you. I really appreciate people for posting how to videos. It has saved me a ton of money. I wish you good fortune in all that you do!
Our GE microwave went completely out this a.m...watched your video, found the switch and fuse and got it working by noon...Thank you!!
Hello. Where did you purchase the micro switch?
Thank you so much! My GE microwave died after a couple years and won’t turn on at all. Will give this a try! Wish me luck!
Did it work?
Did it work?
Yes it did!! I found the kit in Amazon and changed it myself!
Yes I did replace that switch because of the EXACT problem. What ended up happening is it blew AGAIN. Which means there is another issue or I bought a less superior switch. The replacement lasted one day. I'm going to look at the specs on the replacement I used to see if it is still that switch.
“Thank You!” for sharing this.
Thank you for this video! My
Parents almost bought a brand new microwave. We followed your video and fixed the problem!
Cannot use a 32v 20 amp auto parts fuse, need 250v, 20 amp microwave appliance shielded fuse (Ace Hardware). Read the description on the old fuse.
Thanks for the clear instructions for disassembling. I found a total of three switches associated with the door. I was able to tweak the door alignment and switch assembly screw so door light now turnes off and unit now starts.
My GE profile microwave is 16 years old and it quit 1 week ago. I will try this solution, thanks
Thank you! Currently I have the same problem ; I have to work on it soon
I gave you a thumbs up on the dong man joke alone. I just bought a brand new one. Installed it and the panel doesn't light up. I'm just going to take it down and take it back to Home Depot, but thanks for the laugh. I needed it.
Thanks so much for this, exactly our same problem and a relatively easy repair.
Thank you, You saved our popcorn for Movie Night.
Thanks man. I don't know about the switch, but that I changed a fuse and VOLA! So far so good.
You saved me a lot of time, this was exactly what my issue was. Thanks a lot brother
Brand new appliances in my brand new home. All of sudden the microwave goes out as of this week, but it gave me a sign last week Saturday that something was getting ready to happen. I assumed that the entire microwave had to be taken out the wall, but after seeing your video I'm so worried now.
Great video man, plain and simple. Appreciated Brother.
Please be aware that some of the door switches are normally open and some normally closed, if you do order them. I ended up shimming with paper next to each switch. I then put a small amount of glue there so they can't wiggle. Once they were all solidly in place it worked fine. I had to temporarily take out the plastic part the switches were held, to glue them in. A volt meter and a GF helps to test opening and closing the door. I also used nail polish to build back up where the middle switch wore down some.
Thank you for posting a comment, but I don't understand a word of what you're saying. Can you please rephrase it? I think you have a solution to a problem, I just don't know how to decipher it due to the way it's worded.
good job... thanks... the exact problem with my unit!!!!
Thank you for your Efforts and Sharing 👍👍
I’m convinced people in my house are opening the microwave door without pushing the stop button first
Thank you. Great video.
Thank you! Very helpful!
You’re the man! Thank you so much! Saved me a couple hundred dollars 🤙
Sounds like Dongman gave you the shaft.
My microwave shut off after 3 seconds then the time defaults to factory and have to set time again. So I set the time and start the microwave and again died after 3 seconds and clock resets. Every time
If the small button on top of the micro switch does go in and out does that mean it’s still good?
No! It should have a distinct CLICK! If it’s soft and not a good click it’s bad, not making a good connection
@@arizonaheatwave4080 Test it with a multimeter if you have one. If the switch is a normally open one, it should show no continuity on the ohms setting. If it is normally closed, it should show close to 0.0 ohms. If it is a normally open swith, the readings should be opposite. Regardless, you should get on open reading (usually an OL indication on the multimeter display) in one position and a 0.0 ohm reading n the otehr position (pressed vs depressed, or depressed vs pressed).
Where can a person buy the micro switch?
Thank you this helped a lot.
Thanks, going to try this.
Thank you.
What about if it works but not heating
Where do you find the switch part?
Best drinking game ever ..
Whenever you say um we drink .......but other then that good info
Thank you!!
So does it mean the micro switch little tap. Is meant to be pressed and stay permanently in.
Where do you get the fuse and switched from?
What of the switches still click and I replaced the fuses and it is still dead? Time for a new microwave? 4.5 yrs old. Light use
My son's GE microwave in one of his rentals died after about 6 months of use. Tech coming out tomorrow for warranty repair. Will never buy a GE product again, although this was to replace a Samsung microwave, which also dies early (would randomly decide not to heat the food).
Samsung is the worst. All electrical boards. GE, is one I maintain myself and haven't really needed to spend more than parts each time. Thanks for checking out my vid.
The switch wiggles, but can't pull out help
Since my GE microwave is "running" and the turntable is turning, the micro switch is not my problem. GREAT. I was told that there is a part that fails, but, the machine continues to seem to be operational, but food does not get hot.
There is two things that "cook" food. The capacitor and the megatron. If I had to guess, I'd say the megatron. I had mine go out in this very microwave, and replaced it, and it's been fine since.

* That link could be yours, but go off the number on your old one, to make sure.
@@alcohtraz Thank you very much !!!
Unfortunately you are right, Consumer electronics and consumer appliance companies that build things by the thousands cut corners and use inferior parts when building their devices as they only care that it makes it past the 1 year warranty. If I was an engineer, I would be pissed if a company downgraded what I spec'd out to save a few cents in production costs! Anyways, the DongMan switches they use in GE microwaves are a good example of an inferior product. Dongman is NOT a well known or reputable brand of switches, therefore why would you use the same thing when replacing it? 3rd party sellers on Amazon are gonna sell you the same crap so you can keep spending more money and purchasing the same junk when it goes bad again! Omron and Honeywell make these switches in the same physical dimensions and ratings, but are a much more reputable brand and have a higher MTBF. About $3 or less for these switches from a reputable electronics supplier and I get the fuses locally for $0.20 each!
My microwave was manufactured in 1998, wonder if I'd qualify for an easy fix versus paying $100+ to have a tech come out
@@CintiaVsTia I don't see why not, even microwave ovens from the 90's used the same fundamental design as today:. They use microswitches, high voltage transformer, capacitor, magnetron, control board, etc
Thanks bro you save me
My microwave is having an intermittent power loss issue. It does seem to do after opening or closing the door, but the power resets within a minute of loosing power. This is still the likely culprit?
Mine too and its 10 days old .........
Hey does it have diagnostic
I replaced both fuses but after 5 min they blew again i was able to troubleshoot it did turn on but not heating.
Did you figure out the issue? I have the same problem
No😢
Home Depot stocks the fuse.
My microwave stopped working. It started when the base kept turning & wouldn't stop until it stopped working entirely. Do you think your proposed soln would work for my GE Profile as well? Its about 4 yrs old.
Replacing these switches are a common concern. They stick when faulty. You'll be able to tell by manually clicking them.
This was helpful thank you so much 🙏
I don’t understand what problem your fixing. My GE micro is working however it’s not cooking anything and it’s making a noise
How do you turn off the beep?
microwave will not cut off, keeps running when the door is close. GE Model# JVM316ORF6SS
Mines doesn’t stop heating how would I fix that?
HOOKS STICKING OUT THE DOOR IS A DUMB IDEA! I assume the designer had a warped sense of humor and enjoyed thinking of how many people, removing scalding liquid from the oven, will be splattered when the vessel catches on the hooks.
Were you getting an error code?
I'm getting F4
Link micro switch? Please?
My G.e will turn on. But won’t heat up? What could be my problem? Thank u
Bad magnetron likely. I had to replace mine. I got this one, amzn.to/4bkBylc and my microwave has been fine since. Make sure you don't open the door mid use. Always hit pause, then open the door.
I have the same microwave. It was just installed but doesn’t heat the food. It powers on fine and goes through the countdown etc but it won’t heat. Any ideas? it’s brand new just been sitting in a box for several months until we could get it installed. Thanks!
The Magnatron is probably bad, if its less than a year old I would contact warranty support.
Check the switches, make sure the click when you push down on the orange button. I had 1 bad 1 on the bottom and had the same thing, countdown but nothing else, that bottom switch lets it know the door is closed all the way and it wont fire up the magnatron if it thinks the door isn't properly shut.
What’s the model number of your microwave?
Tow year old GE and ours quit working. JUNK. Will never purchase another g.e. product again. Best to go with LG.
My buddy owns an used appliance business and LGs, and Samsungs are the appliances that are the worst. Once the boards go bad, it's a throw away unit.
There are no screws on the top of my GE Microwave.
Where do we get the part?????
Amazon is where I got mine
The answer is in the notes to the video, otherwise known as the Show Notes .
If you don't know where or how to find the show notes, you need more help than a new microwave!! 🤣😆
Once again, NOT THE PROB. all of those have been replaced. Everything works except the convection and blower. Why no troubleshoot
Mine shit off after running for 2 hours with a burning smell strong burning smell
I had 3 of those exact models...same problem every time. Never will buy those.
😂❤
