big points to the sound designers for really capturing a unique ice cold and sterile future feeling, really well done
The sound track makes the game in my opinion.
The game is good, but the soundtrack with it, and the way it’s used sends chills down ones spine, dramatically increasing the intensity and quality of the game as a whole.
there's something to this story about treating people like machines. the intercom recordings often describe things in such a way that it prioritizes function over experience. "do not contact your family it will distract you" and "contact a health expert if you feel your WORK quality is suffering" to paraphrase a couple. Your car seems to be self driving in this game, but is also not entirely robotic. it's subject to hallucinations and seems to be one of many self driving cars to go through this exact gauntlet countless times over many years, if the intercom's estimate of receiving no human contact in 99999 days is to be believed. there's also no indication that humans have had any presence in general during this time, leading me to the theory that your car is what humans have transformed into. Humans were treated like machines until they literally transformed into them, and even though they retain the vital traits of humanity such as experience and self preservation, they're all put through this gauntlet ending in death, all to upload your genetic algorithm to some computer somewhere. Humans treated like machines become machines and those machines become a single cog in a larger machine, and those cogs become fuel to burn
The fact that no one payed attention to this is insane. You should totally receive a gold medal for this!
That's crazy, I think it would be so much that I wanted to understand the story better
would explain why if you change this video to 4:3 resolution the front grille of the car is compressed to look vaguely like a skull...
Only now, when I can just watch and don't have to focus on driving I came to appreciate even more how amazing the design of the game is, the soundtrack is a perfect fit and the level design storytelling is great
I wonder why isn't this game already popular.... Maybe it's because the game is less than 1 year old.
This is art. And the story....
The game has been out for much longer, I played the beta 4 years ago
@Setzer K Yeah, imagine if they put it where the audience is...
@Setzer K I was just saying a game like this appeals more to console fans.
I have no idea why no one knows about it.
Maybe because a lot of it is just darkness. Didn't appeal to me much.
this game is amazing. the art was just beautiful. I dont understand the story, especially the ending but my god. Amazing game
Theres a lore channel in the official Discord you could check out, if you're interested. Some inreresting theories on there ;)
@@HiddelMOB well i get a base idea of the time on your car, your racing the clock for shure to get to the teleport room to excape the aray.
@@HiddelMOB do you have a link?
as someone who loves the rush of intense racing games, grew up on arcade racers, etc. i want this
Kudos for the people that made the story of ABYSS
yeah. it hit me rather hard with how soft the horror in the game used to be. on top of that, it hits something deep in me for some reason with how claustrophobic it is and how the blood just keeps building up. sad that I'm pretty much unable to experience it myself due to that, but I can appreciate the concept at least.
It says remember in the cars screen so it could mean that this isn't the first time
You are a saint for uploading this
coming from trackmania this game is a delight to play
Let me guess, AlphaMaxNova1
Come for the playthrough, stay for thie bangers.
Saw this in a creepypasta reading, and I’m glad I found it again. Game is wayyy to cool to have 0 recognition
Wait, what creepypast reading? If the story actually matched the visuals in any way, I'm very intrigued
HiddelMOB no, it wasn’t based on the game but it loosely related to the story. It was the “12 miles” or “30 mile” game, basically dude takes a street on his pizza route he was told didn’t exist, and ends up going through a bunch of different “biomes” consisting of malevolent spirits, gigantic squids, and a volcanic wasteland. Was a really fye read/listen, but SomeOrdinaryGamer took it down or privated it
@@apexshinbi638 really late, but if you still have the link (from a bookmark or something), the internet archive could still have it. i'd like to see it.
I have to say, your run through the Overload section specifically is incredible to watch. The sound quality in this video is better than any other Distance videos that I have found and on top of that, the way you jump and land perfectly in sync with the music, like at 38:44, is perfect.
👍👌⚡️
I love this game. Every side of it is perfect - gameplay, visual, atmosphere, soundtrack (!). If you somehow didn't play it, do it now.
P.S. Listen "Ghost". This is one of the best tracks i ever heard.
17:54
That part scared the crap out of me lol, it made me jump lol
And the quiet beep of the "Wrong Way" message afterwards contrasts perfectly
That was an scary horror vagina I've ever received
@@50ksavagegoodsavage4 lmfao
This game is really good, tronlike, but especially because of the soundtrack
Damn this game is beautiful, thanks for the playthrough man.
if this is unedited, you have the 8th fastest time.
That's obviously edited
It's edited. In non-edited runs, the music from the last stage would continue into the next without a cut in audio. Here, the music abrubtly cuts as the next stage is started.
As others have commented, it is edited, I recorded each track separately and put them together, removing load times. There were many failed 'clean run' attempts, especially in the harder tracks. This is basically a 'best of fastest times' compilation. Probably should have noted that in the description, but I guess few people would really care as long as the video's good.
What a great game! The story telling is just perfect, the music, the effects, just gorgeous!
Wow.. That was amazing..
I came to see few seconds what this game looks like.. I ended up watching 48 minutes 55 seconds.
Contagion & Overload felt like I'm in some future hot wheels style
Wow this is beautiful and mesmerizing
Beautiful game, beautiful skill
SOMEBODY SEND THIS TO GAME THEORY
I love the game, but man I wish I could get the hang of the grip system
I love the profile picture. 👍

This is a good game~
This guy 3 years ahead at us
This looks sooooooooooooo aaaaawwwwwsssssoooommmmeeeee
I like this
Juegazo, manejo perfecto
This is game is amazing I love the graphics but there’s something just unnerving about it that I like I ain’t sure if it’s the way the city is designed or what
Love this game but I'm totally stuck at a point where the road suddenly cuts off and you have to control your car in the air to somehow land in another road. It's like gravity pulls me away from the next road and I just fall to my death every time.
How long did it take you to be able to drive the race so perfect? That`s so cool!
I did it in parts, some harder parts took many retries to get a clean run, but if I remember correctly it was less than two hours of playing total.
Can you customize your car? And how dors it control?
is this game trying to tell us how to kill corna ?
nice
What is the soundtrack used on 'Euphoria' level? I can't find it anywhere
just search "Distance Ost" and you get the full Soundtrack
I wonder I can upgrade my QVC Mobile and fly back to West Chester.
damn bro youre crazy
Is Abstergo involved in this?
This is actually very weird this game did not came out on the PS4 yet
Interesting
What actually happens when the timer sets to 0? Nobody made a video about it.
Who knows, unless you actively try to waste enough time to let it count down you'll likely reach the end before it does.
ua-cam.com/video/xqtx8k2DxSs/v-deo.html this is what happens when you run out of time in distance, its basically like a bad ending but you get to restart from the beginning of the level you're on
Is this game can be in android?
What happened to that car
Reminds me of Neodash.

Friday night funkin for some reason got me
what is the story of this game?
There's 3 campaigns in the game with 3 different unrelated stories.
The first one is thought to be a simulation where you're the car tasked to fight a nanomachine corrupting the various sectors. Hence as you get close to finishing the game you see more and more corrupted tracks. Its thought to be a simulation because at the end of the game there's multiple replicas of your car. Almost as if this has been run many times.
The second campaign is set in the nitronic rush levels. Its set in the future when a computer virus takes over the system and the system tries to load a backup but that is also corrupted. Hence at the end of the campaign it basically resets itself thus you see a no operating system found message.
In the 3rd campaign you find yourself in a city and you have to deliver a package. Not too sure about its story.
looks fantastic, does anyone get halo vibes for inspiration?
nope, only at the very end when you're on earth, some of the structures on earth really resemble halo
Thats a pretty short game usually games could be up to and hour or 5 (according to the videos that ive seen for rachet and clank rift apart lol)
this is just the main campaign, there are three additional mini campaigns and over 150 tracks in sprint, challenge and stunt combined, also there are 4000+ community created tracks in the steam workshop, at least %20 of them being high quality

Can someone explain me the story of this game ?
In the far future, humanity has built a giant array of Satelites (The Array) in orbit around Earth. The planet itself may be polluted, ravaged by war, or something of the sort ("Remember Her, learn from Her, go beyond Her" as well as "Incident 215" indicate as much).
Humanity looked to the stars, and started developing long-range teleportation aboard The Array (the Distance Project) in hopes of exploring or escaping to the cosmos. But one day, something malicious came back through the teleporter instead...
The Virus wrought havoc on The Array, most likely killing every human aboard and taking over much of it. But somewhere, an automated system either starts intentionally developing a method to fight the Virus, or it is running automated tests that just happen to eventually result in the Virus being stopped.
Either way, after countless failed attempts, car #650.782 finally makes it through, mere seconds before the Virus successfully teleports. Said car is teleported to Earth, and is disassembled to extract the data it has gathered on the way.
That's one of the more obvious theories anyway.
The official Discord Server has a Lore channel with several other interpretations.
The whole game could be a simulation to create the perfect driving AI and none of what we see is real in-universe; the car may be secretly infected and the whole thing is a trick by the Virus to get to Earth; maybe the Virus has become part of the plan for the Distance Project, since normal organic matter can't be teleported, and the car is a hybrid of organic and mechanical matter (would explain how it regenerates damage?) designed to test how it handles teleportation...
And then theres also the other campaigns and the theories on how they fit into all this, if at all...
@@HiddelMOB omg this is so deep i love it ! Thanks for the explanation. Is there some distance competitions/tournaments ?
@@game_in_black5388 there is the official Discord server, not too sure if there are tournaments or anything like that, but it would be the place to find them
@@HiddelMOB ok thanks for you answers dude
@@game_in_black5388 this story also can be seen as a reference to depression and the process of concering it
Is this game on Xbox x|s?
Yes,maybe on PlayStation it’s be too
Fuck the jump at 20:19
Вангеры 2 выглядят ахуенно)
what? I can’t jump and accelerate at the same time ((
Wait, what about 650782???
Most likely the designated number of your car, and as such you're most likely the 650.782nd attempt by the Array to stop the virus. And maybe the first to actually succeed.
That's all the community has been able to come up with for now; the numbers also result in a pretty sweet purple when used as a hex value for color calculation.
HiddelMOB A hex value? Helluva way to get a secret cheat code
Also, why did they dismantle us in the end? Is it because the virus has compromised the car with its glitchy-visions?
@@dannyred9094 Possibly. There are several theories. The car may be infected and thus dismanteled to protect Earth. Maybe humanity has actually been making the best of a bad accident and is using the virus for testing in the Distance Project. Maybe the entire game is a simulation to create the perfect car AI (so more of a meta story).
Or maybe the car is just part of an automated testing routine and the disassembly would have happened no matter what once the car made it back, to extract test data. And maybe what some interpret as destoying the Archaic (the big screeching manifestation of the virus) was actually the car getting infected, and since the facility on Earth is just following a routine, unaware of the threat, the whole planet is now doomed.
Maybe the virus is what sent the car out in the first place? The tunnel sequence could support this somewhat; the woman whispering "wake up" is the original programming/AI of the Array or the car, trying in vain to save Earth, but the deep male voice that tells us to "Devour her, extinguish her" (her being Earth) is the virus taking back control. Also the car already being infected or related to the virus could explain how it regenerates damage like it does.
That would be a bit of a downer ending, but I like that last theory a lot actually. :P
HiddelMOB Well, whatever the big plot point is, the developers did a dang good job.
I feel like this boss is just the beginning.. :P
it reminds me wipeout ;], just way simpler
way simpler? oh boy wait till you see how many advanced unintended mechanics are in this game like gripflight, thrusterboosting, wheelieboosting and thruster reset
😢

this game is cool, but is weird .-.
*No Deaths*
You lied.
hm, where do you see deaths in the video?
Nice. But is this a game? I would say... just an interactive screensaver. No game in this game...
This game looks boring as hell
how good for you
