I love Diana. I can sing as low as her and as high. BUT!!!!! There is a giant but: I don't have that deep, deep, round darkness. I just have deep darkness. It almost sounds like she sings polyphonic. Great reaction! I did the same as you the first time I heard this song...I immediately played it multiple times. You'll have to react to Wicked Game, Rechenka, Demiere Danse, and Human. She sang those in Russian competition shows when she was 14 to 16 years old. Diana never fails to send chills through the listener. Read her back story...it is sad and uplifting at the same time.

After listening, I went straight to some of the vocal coaches that do reactions and watched them so they could explain what it was that I was hearing. Diana didn't have a happy start in life.The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived. She did not love her child, cruelly abused him and tried to drown him.
The 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage. There she finally found love ... from Irina Ponik, a massagetherapist. The project producers help the finalists to start their studies and promote their creativity. Diana won a scholarship and Igor Krutoy (Russian music titan, billionaire, juror and sponsor) gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398.26 ft²) in Moscow. There she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy. (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020). Now Diana is taught by the great Alexandra Pismennaya, who was a student of Prof. Donskoy.
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. She also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl. The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 - E6. Igor Krutoy, the billionaire producer/composer/pianist that you may know from your reactions to Dimash, was one of the judges on that show, and he awarded her with a personal stipend renting her an apartment in Moscow and enabling her to study music at Russia's most prestigious conservatory. As you already know because I've seen the comments, she's a contralto which is the lower register of a woman which is not easy to do specially for a teenager who's in the process of changing her voice. The first thing she does with this song is that she change the key note from major note which is the one Elvis Presley sang to a minor note. The second thing she does is she drops her laryngth to give it this dark color to the song

We've watched about eight reactions to this performance. This is the best reaction. None of the "professional" voice coaches picked-up on the dual nature of her voice. It;s kinda like a bagpipe drone underneath the melody. And yeah, we were/are just as shocked by Diana Ankudinova.

First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Howdy Debbie! I really enjoyed your reaction to Diana. It was much the same as my first time hearing her. My first song by her was Wicked Game (and it's still my favorite of hers). After listening, I went straight to some of the vocal coaches that do reactions and watched them so they could explain what it was that I was hearing. What I learned was that she is a true Contra-Alto ( or however you spell it LOL ). Those are very rare, and especially rare among younger singers. I would really love to see you react to Wicked Game and Human by her, they still blow me away when I watch them.

She's fantastic, it's the softness of her voice, the warmth, the accuracy, she has so many techniques that you end up saying to yourself that she could sing anything as she singles out, personalizes her show. It's almost surreal! And she probably hasn't yet managed to explore all of her talent... Her potential seems immense. I think she must have amazing strength of character. I will never be able to thank his adoptive mother, his speech therapist and all the people who allowed him to make us live these moments enough. It's art! Prodigious!
