For LED TVs I recommend setting the brightness at about 70% and never at max as this reduces the LEDs' lifespan. I usually replace the dead LEDs with new ones specially if there is more than one dead. Shorting the LEDs will mean that the other ones are being driven harder and they will end up failing too it's just a matter of time. Those LG LED strip connectors don't come out in the direction of the cable but perpendicularly to the strip, they come out pretty easy when you figure this out, I also struggled the first time :D I enjoy your videos, keep them coming :)
That makes a lot of sense now that I see it. Sometimes you have to see the things to get the theory. I wasn't thinking about the voltage drop of the LEDs and the way they work. Thanks for explaining!!
But I know that there are some TVs that don't turn the backlight on if you short one LED because it probably senses that the voltage drop isn't right (?)
Hi Sorin, Thanks for your videos. Today i successfully repaired my first led TV :-) Just based on your video and encouragement that it can be easily done.
Thanks I was trying to power some leds that wouldn't power for a project I'm building and couldn't figure out why. Right at the beginning you said leds are powered by current not voltage. That didn't even dawn on me I was trying everything to power them on but I could only get one on at a time. I increased the current and let there be light. Thanks again.
I use a old island from a kitchen. I put it in the center of room and able to walk all around it. If I work on a board I take it to my bench. Works great for me
Nice job bro!! I repair a 55 inch samsung led 2012 and they have smd led rail to left and right ...I guess its a crazy job but i save a lot beacause you learn to me how to open the front of lcd tv THX A LOT MAN YOURE GENIUS!!! NOTHING TO COMPARE STEVE JOB :P
quick message to thank you for this video, thanks to it I got the confidence to repair the tv, now more than ever, particularly while in quarantine, your content is appreciated, you rock! thanks!
Sorin, you deffinatly need a new proper work desk. To be honest, seeing you working with that tv facing down on that screen.....it gave me the chills:)). Anyways, good work as usual.
I fix my panasonic TV, change 3 leds and screen work again, cost me a little more than 1 Euro. a did glue that caps with regular super glue, Locktite i belive and still holds. after 3 years a belive.
Hello, It is very clear that this TV has a led malfunction, and there is every team that draws my attention, okey, there is no silicone gun, but it is not a permanent solution to change those leds one by one. It will be healthier to replace the led bars there with a new one as a strip. As you know, don't forget that the other leds you haven't changed are tired from working. Thanks
Hello hello, that is really nice to me to see how you test and deduct ! I have exactly same trouble . So the first tests where to see if the alimentations where ok ?
thank you for the video I have learnt a lot, may ask do you adjust the amperes when you apply voltage to leds or when you inject voltage to any part you repair
Hi Sorin, love your videos, have you done any videos on Samsung LED TVs that the screen diffuser glue fails ending up with rows and columns of DONUT type RINGS on the screen? especially when the screen is on a light background? Apparently you have to re glue the LEDs??? Thanks from Oz.
I have a question about the connectors that you have on your GoPro, both HDMI and the power cables that are connected to it, do they have a filtering coil (Ferrite Bead) right at the end where they connect to the GoPro? if not, that might just be the problem with your GoPro freezing when you plug other devices to your power outlet, cheap cables that are passing spikes into the GoPro.
Hello there, Shorted with only solder or did u apply any special wire to hang them up together!, BTW u have become my inspiration I hope some day I become like you Thanks a lot for everything your doing and showing for us^^
hi there sorin, what did you do with the bad led? removed it or shorted it over the pads underneath? have this same issue and just want to bypass the led so the rest of the strip lights up, thankyou for everything too, very helpful man :)
You are struggling with that power supply black wire... You need to get it fixed... I am also planning to get two new tables for work,... Will send you picture when i finish them.
Thank you very much for sharing!! I have a question about you: I have repaired the TV according to your guide. Everything was ok. TV worked fine for the next 6 months. After that I noticed that unfortunatelly only one led bar has remain working. Can I use aftermarket led strip in order not to buy the genuine led bars? Can I buy just the leds and replace them? aftermarket What is your opinion? Thanks We love you!!
Good afternoon, what is best way to diagnose a faulty LG 50LA620V-ZA TV? When you plug the TV, the logo LG appears on the screen , stays for 1/2 second and goes black. I opened the back case and the LEDs are switching on for that 1/2 second! I’m not sure what can be the problem: Leds faulty, power supply unit, faulty driver? Any ideas? Many thanks!
The repalcement smd led for LG TV is extremely cheap. You can get dozens for just few dollars. As a repair shop, why not have some spare smd led on hand to repair these burned out leds? Replacing led from strip doesn't need to be complicated, just scrape off (or grind down using dremel tool) broken led and solder on replacement.
Yes this is excellent short cut to diagnosis. I also have LG TV with black screen and by shining flash light, I immedietly concluded it's LED that's broken and rest of TV is working fine.
Hey Sorin, maybe you might put the Gopro on a seperate circuit from your test equipment? Perhaps there is some feedback of some sort causing it to glitch? It seems like the Gopro freezes every time you probe anything with your power supply. Hope you can get the gremlins out of it.

How to get electrocuted by a cheap tv 😅 😅. The lesson of this video; no matter how hard it is, don't give up and the impossible will stay behind you. Nice persistence !
Clientul se intoarce in service, dupa cateva luni, daca foloseste tv-ul nonstop
You should not just bridge out the faulty LED on the light bar like you did, In my opinion that's bad practice and teaching bad habits. Yes it will work for some time but If you bridge out the faulty LED you will put additional stress on the remaining LED's and they will blow also. You said they are current controlled there are current mode PWM controlled. I have fixed several LED strips and its easy to replace an individual LED once you take the screen apart. I use a small heat plate and heat the strip from beneath to remove and replace the faulty LED. Its a time consuming process but that's the correct way to fix the issue or replace the complete bar. The other thing to do is turn down the back light to about 50-70% as that will extend the life of those LED strips. The manufactures push the LED strips to their limits when the back light is cranked up to 100% and that will shorten the life of those strips. The LED strips are failing even on TV's that are within their warranty period due to the excessive stress on the back light LED's.
Instead of hot plate, easier method is just scrape off the broken LED. Then you can clean up and solder in replacement using soldering iron. All without removing the led strip from chasis.
@@springer-qb4dv Sure that's possible, but, the problem with that technique is the heat sinking of the strip and chassis will make it difficult to get the correct temperature required to just use a soldering iron unless using a good temperature controlled iron with a tip of sufficient mass to over come the heat lost in the strip etc.
I wonder why the manufacture didn't put just 3 or 4 LEDs if what he is doing is the case! I suppose each led has 3v so if you shorted them, that means you're giving other LEDs more stress more than 3v, so in the long run, you'll have to go back to the drawing board to fix another one. This is just a temporary fix.
Yep another rather nasty tv, the leds must be junk!!. I really dont like power leds, they just dont last very long :-( Try not to get stressed out about cheap crap, it is not worth worrying about.
i not ever going to buy a new led 4k tv, i will keep fixing my old ccfl backlit tvs, the oldest is a lg 32lx2r from 2005 720p been fixed a few times but never the ccfl backlights, ive never seen them backlights fail.. maybe the inverter power supply for lights may fail but not ccfls themselfs, i bet thats why they stopped making them.. lasted too long,
yes no need for 4K TVs, just 1080p is good enough. Replacing smd led isn't difficult and much cheaper (few bucks for dozens on ebay) than burnt out ccfl light (if you can get exact replacement).
Removing the diode and joining by soldering the 2 pins is the wrong repair this work will only work for a few weeks you can buy on ebay 3 strips for this £25 and replace all LED diode tester only cost £15 could be used to test the LEDs individually without power supply connected.
I actually don't blame him for being nervous - These screens are so fragile when they are removed like that. I was actually surprised there was no lines down the screen. It is incredibly easy to damage the connection to the screen (the bottom long board and jumper strip) as the connections are thinner than a human hair. It was a bold repair for sure, but ultimately successful.
You broke the screen ribbon connections to the led screen they are very fragile and its nigh on impossible to fix these cheapos without damaging something!
"Electrocuted" is when you die. When you just get 'shocked,' you live to see another. I don't think you've been experiencing the former unless you are have hundreds of lives.
so, not only did you bodge the repair by not replacing the leds that were out, you left the diffuser off the shorted led so that a competent engineer couldnt do the job properly the next time! - ive watched a few of your videos now - you dont repair, you short stuff out and bypass stuff, you break stuff - do you have no pride in your work?
Great video. Thanks for taking the time. Most guys would have edited out the call from their wife. That was legendary leaving it in. You made my day.

Why don't you get a voltage regulator or better quality power adapter for the Go Pro?
So only one led was bad and no picture at all? Is there a possibility that power supply is the issue and not the leds?
you need more space ...... AND a new space bar lol

change power supply on the go pro
