This video was awesome, and I'm glad I've discovered your channel because you talk about the important stuff and don't ramble on about nonesense or make bad jokes, you provide quality content. I'm researching a power station because I use a CPAP and I live in Texas so we had a scare and I hate being not prepared.
Thank you so much for putting out these videos! When I originally want into my planning for moving into my van, I had my mind set on getting a Jackery 1000 and 300. It's only after watching and learning from you that I realized these Bluetti's were better bang for the buck and I just ordered an EB150 and this AC50S. For anyone who sees this in time, as of 2/9, the EB150 is $999 on Amazon with a $200 coupon they have and the AC50S has $60 coupon for a total of $369.
Thanks for making a review that is so detailed but still easy to understand for a layman like me. I've seen mixed reviews but you've really got me sold. I'm definitely getting one of these for my van build.
Nice work here. I've been researching this size/scale "So Gen" unit for about four (4) months. Thanks to your testing efforts, I just pulled the trigger and your code worked like a charm. All in (with taxes, ugh), $406.59. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Hobotech, I've been watching and waiting. I missed out on the Jackery Expl 300's before they sold out. Now I'm glad I did! I can't believe I caught this product/deal in time. Another plus was being able to use your sales link! The 3C's are happy campers:) You rock !!!
Im so glad I found this channel.
I really enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for all your good information. I'm late in the buying game for this SoGen, but just purchased a combo deal that includes the 120 watt foldable solar panel for $665. I really looked around for comparable units and there were just none. So I hope I made a good choice. I always look forward to your new videos. Be well!
I LOVE your humor, and GREAT info. Thank. Just found you a couple of weeks ago.
You really excel at teaching. I enjoy being your student.
Got mine for 349$ on the bluetti site with the hobotech discount a few months ago . Using it daily !
Just got mine this week. Loving it so far
Just bought the Bluetti AC50s cannot wait. Thanks for the review.👍
I have three BLUETTI powerbanks. This rascal is PERFECT. I leave in my Sprinter VAN. .HONESTLY IT IS ALL I NEED. great light. Enough outlets. Easy to recharge. Small. Perfect.
Just bought the 2400, now I'm thinking about this one for my camping trips
Thanks for the discount! Bought the ac50s today! Can't wait to get it.
Got my AC50s and have used it on two outings. Used 2 Renogy 100 watt pannels in series to charge. kept my cpap going and phone charged. perfect. thanks for the great info.
I love that you can connect multiple solar panels to this!
I just bought this because of you thorough reviews ! I thank you! I will use this to operate a heating system when my electric is down I have a solar panel also. Im a 70 yr old senior and I live alone . I like quiet .
Got my last month after watching your earlier review, new to solor generators, but it works great for me running a 53 qt alpicool ref/freezer for my deer hunting, hell lot better than packing ice chest. Your a good man Charlie brown
How’s this setup running to date? Still going strong?
@@_ManPower_ good day
So after 6 plus months of using it I can say, hell yes,
Have used it to power my iceco 45 cooler on several hunting days and road trips to save my truck battery when parked for the night.
The easiest of quick recharging by solar or outlet is also a nice combination.
So I'm happy I took the chance on it and looking at it's bigger brother as my next purchase.
Hopes that answers your questions.
Have a good one, laters
Great end to end review. Thanks for putting the extra mile to test the upper limitations of the product!
Just ordered and used your code. Still good as of 1-9-21.
Just got mine today in the mail, used your discount code and I got a great deal
They finally restocked! Thank you for your code!
I just ordered direct (March 18 2021) using your code ; -$60. = $369.99 delivered. Thanks. I was very close to ordering the Jack 300 at $299 but with tax it was well over $300, so for a few bucks more I got this one with more capability plus this one allows me to use pretty much any solar panel. Perfect. I appreciate all you do.
Great knowledge, appreciate the detailed testing you do on these. I ended up getting this using your discount code. Thanks!
You are amazing. I used the $379 offer. What a great deal. Thanks
I’m loving mine! Wireless charging is awesome.
Great review thanks Tom. This is the one I've been waiting for.
The handles on top, the lights on back, I’m sold.
Thanks for this. Decided to go with this battery and the SP120. Also, thanks for the discount codes. Great videos.
Hey Hobotech, i have mine for round about 16 days, i tested a lot what you have done too. The lack of the Quickcharge Port 3.0 is (for me) the only issue.
But i am overall very impressed of the capability of this device! Greeting from Germany.
Yeah i know, thats what Hobotec said. But it is not the ultimative deal breaker, just a little "issue".
Maybe Bluetti change it in the third version 😅
Thank you so much for this review. I have a Jackery 300 and was looking at this one as my secondary or primary unit and it seems this will become the primary. Can't wait to road-test it!
I pre-ordered this a few months back while it was still in production and used your coupon code and got it for a whopping $350.00. It arrived a week ago and I'm thrilled with it. It's everything that you say and the quality seems really good. I have also have the Bluetti 1500 and can power my small camper with it.
Did you order it from bluetti? How long did it take for the shipping?
@@jheighten7568 I did and they shipped pretty fast. I had ordered another unit from them previously and shipping was quick with tracking.
Duuuuudeeeee........I loved this video. I would sit thru any any class you held! You are great at explaining stuff.
Just bought this and the 120w solar panel for a great sale on their website. Really excited to get this and to charge my devices on it.
I pre ordered mine and I been using it for the last three weeks. It’s been awesome. I been using it to mainly run my dometic cfx35.
I’m trying to do the same setup that your doing with the dometic as well...... how’s it holding up till this day and how long does the battery last with the dometic fridge
Really appreciate your excellent vids. I have learned so much from them.
Just bought one, AC50s with the 50 dollars off and free s/h direct from their site!!! Thank you professor. Do let us know if they come out with another campaign. I had to pay tax bc I think they have an office in Denver. Still a good deal!! Now I own two Bluetti products. AC200(Indiegogo) and the AC50s!
I ordered two of these after watching this video. They are perfect
Hey Tom, another great "SoGen" video, you sold me on another new toy for the collection !!!
Thank you Mr. Hobotech. I just purchased this with $50 off. Indeed, best bang for the buck!
I managed to get the standard model for $330 by stacking your coupon code with another offer, absolutely incredible little thing for the money. I'm glad to see on this model they seem to have improved the low voltage charging, I never see anywhere near that kind of wattage charging from my cigarette lighter port and that seems to be typical for the AC50 (non-S model).
I think that the inverter's overload protection has a hard-set time limit for how long you can overload it, in your original video you got around 2.5 minutes before it shut down while running past 300 watts and I tried running my Dash egg cooker off of it (350 watts) and it shut down at the same time. I unplugged it, reset the inverter, and let it go again and it kept on going for another 2.5 minutes.
Thank you for making this video. I am very glad to have found your channel. Looking for a battery bank to run my fridge overnight on a camping trip. This has helped me make my decision easily
Fantastic detailed review. Thank you. I just bought this with the solar panel.
Just ordered one for my brother and sister-in-law, they have a Go Fast Camper and this will be perfect for their weekend trips. The discount code is still working on the Bluetti site!
Professor Hoboteck, thank you for the $80 off with the HOBO50OR. It worked. I plan to run a ICECO fridge/freezer on it. I also picked up the 120w panel $100 off.
Great review! Tom, is it just me or are these solar generators advancing rapidly? I'm very impressed by this.
I nearly bought this but went with the Jackery E240 so I could still buy a compatible waterproof solar panel with a USB fast charge port at the same time. No regrets my end. Waited 3 years through research and finally coming to a decision, but I have to say this was going to be a very close winner as was the best one for buck I saw. In 🇬🇧 so not so many options available with UK plug.
I'm sold !.... I'm getting this with the 120 watt panel..at $629 it seems like a great value.
just ordered it, great reviews!!!
Just ordered one based on this review. Thanks
Professor Hobo, I don't listen to my Dr. as much as I do to you, You are the BEST most thorough reviewer on UA-cam!! Incredible. I am waiting for a Bluetti with 500w - 600w LIFE04 battery (approx 600watt == 1200w surge pure-sine just like EB3A!) with all the specs of the Bluetti EB3A only with a larger battery than the EB3A. I have an EB3A and it is the ultimate best Bluetti just needs to clone the EB3A with a larger size LIFE04 battery.(I would buy it in a flash!) This AC50s isn't what I would buy, worse case I would buy a 2nd EB3A and Daisy chain them. The EB3A keeps my full size kitchen refrig running (maybe 4 hours) , and I over-panel it with HQST Three 100watt solar panels in parallel, no problems... Keep up great job!!! You are da Man!!!
Amazing video - Great info!!!! I will be [picking one of these up with a glass panel as noted. Perfect info!!!!
I just ordered one of these from Amazon for about $370. I wanted it to run my CPAP when im camping with it. I'm also switching my lawnmower to battery power and I already own a battery chainsaw and other battery tools. Soon, I want to get some panels so I can change all this stuff from the sun. Seems everything is going battery, so this will be my entry into solar. I like the info you put out, so I sub'd👍
I have 100 W one of the Espana facture that I got to use at festivals to make sure that I have plenty of power for credit card transactions and running music so forth it has been flawless this is a good solid company
Thanks for another great review!
Dude thank you so much for doing this. You are a Godsend
I recently got one of these. Sweet little unit. I was going to get one of the smaller Jackerys. But, for just a little bit more, I got this instead. I hate to say it, but the Black Friday deal I got was better than the HoboTech discount. FWIW: The solar charge controller is great. I hooked up my HQST 100 W monocrystalline solar panel to it and got 103 watts (briefly). It settled in around 97W before the clouds moved in.
Ordered the big guy last night💪
Great review. You look happy. Arizona must be agreeing with you.
Hello Professor
Good Video, best part is weight. It don't look to heavy. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy the Rain. Camp Safe
Great and very complete review 👍
Thank you so much. I enjoyed your review.
Great review, thank you!
Amazing review and testing.. thank you.
Very informative video. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for all the videos! I bought the ac-50s about 6 months ago and love it. I was wondering if anyone has charged this at 120 watts for a long period of time in warm to hot weather. I plan on connecting 2 richsolar 100 watt panels in parallel so I can charge it at it's max rate, even on hazy to cloudy days.
I got the orange one the other day and I love it 🤩
I wish reviews were postponed from being released till a product was in stock. And a notice was put in that said that it was in stock at the release of the review. Just like the Suaoki s200 review where they wanted the item in stock before Hobo released his review (and thus he delayed making his video till it came in stock and gave a very honest review as a result). As for the AC50s, there are lookalike devices on Amazon I could get for cheaper if I really wanted one but I don't. Great video as always though.
I already postponed this review for 3 months waiting for stock which just came in at Amazon. This was at the request of Bluetti. It is in stock at Amazon right now and will be back in stock at Bluetti soon. There were issues at customs with shipments that got turned back so stock is limited. Those "lookalike" products are copies of the old AC50 and don't have regulated 12v.
This is a Great review.
Great Video I just ordered mine from Amazon which has a $60 discount coupon.
I see a lot of less than lovely comments, so I wanted to throw in my thanks and a question at the end!
I saw your review earlier this year, and have kept my eyes on it ever since. I'd been holding off for more reviews as I'm new to the small scale solar (I came over from backpacking and car camping, we're researching tiny trailers power systems and I ended up here!). But we lost power for 6 days 2 weeks ago from a midwest ice-storm and I was kicking myself for not having just ordered the damn thing earlier this year.
Thankfully we were able to power our smaller anker's and other batteries with solar panels I'd picked up in August/September, lessening the amount of dreaded car-sitting time. We never had to leave our home (except to borrow a shower 🤪) as we have been hard quarantining to help our friends when a planned hospital stay was going to occur for their family member.
Thanks for clear explanations above and beyond "it's cute and it works". I did a lot of brand feature comparison, and your channel was one of my favorite resources for being clear and concise. I can't wait for my AC50S! This ice storm was unseasonably early, but that doesn't mean we won't have another later this year. And soon we'll be ready!
Question: I have a 120w solar panel, can I put it in parallel with a smaller (say 60w?) panel? I haven't researched putting multiple panels together yet, but I know where I'll start my research :) Thanks for what you do!
You don't want to mismatch panels in parallel.
@@HOBOTECH duly noted, thank you!
Thank you for your videos.
So i was doing research on you tube for a good sogen. Watched a lot of vids on this sogen, not to many vids out there put this thing through the ringer like u do. Thx to u, i woke up today and bought this for my b-day. I was gonna get the bluetti ac70, but something is wrong with that one.
As always; so well done. So easy to follow.....love the professor style...thanks.
Thanks. just bought a Bluetti s50
Ive been planning on getting this over the AC50 to use with Bluettis 120w portable solar panels. Fully off grid portable power for my electric all terrain board. Thanks for the review Hobotech!
Might have to put them in parallel. I think the two SP120 panels might make the AC50S go over voltage.
@@leelfm you're right 👍
The best review. I wish there was an Australian version, so far just the 220VAC EU version but nothing with the Australian wall mount. The only thing close to this out here is Goal Zero 500X, and they are very expensive (AUD$1250-$1350).
This is brilliant...❤ it!!
This sounds good to me, wonderful really!
Thank you! I just bought it 2 weeks ago. The blue box they called it Wqtfun
That's not the same thing.
Now I know why I made a model of an AC50S with my mashed potatoes last night.
I've been using my AC50S to power a small 25W battery charger for my 4x4 that spends most of the summer parked on the side of the house with no AC outlet. I've been trying out my collection of midsize battery-inverter units to keep the battery topped off as it sat unused. None disappoint, though my old Yeti 400 lead-acid model runs out pretty quick, even when I use the two Power Pole jacks to augment the internal battery. Now that I finally have the AC50S, the first thing that I noticed was how much longer the battery lasts compared to the others. The inverter seems to have a lot less parasitic loss, and doesn't turn off at low power draws. Not bad at all.
That’s nothing. I made an actual working model of the AC50S with chicken fried rice the night before last.
I hope mine ships on Nov 15. Using it to power my fridge for camping
Thank you so much!
i bought this and Bluetti 120 watt solar panel during it indiegogo days. It's a great product which provided the power i needed to run my Massimo 50L e-cooler during my 9 day camping trip.
Did you do pass through charging? Charging with panel while running the cooler?
I have the AC50S and two Renogy 100w panels. The AC50S supports my ICECO VL45 at about 40w while charging at 122w.
@@leelfm see response below.
I actually charged it using my 110AC plug in the truck of my GX470 (didn't have a 12volt where I had placed the battery). I only charged it using solar when I was parked. So majority of charging was from the SUV.
Thank you for the video.
This is a GREAT product review. Thank you.
Love this video!!
Would you recommend this for a weekend non electric hookup weekend away in a camper van? We would be using a regular 12v fridge, a 12v tv, smart phones and an iPad just for some reference
Will tested this and his only did half ac capacity I wonder if his was damaged like your AC 300 was damaged or rather b300 battery was great review as always!
great videos love the kitty
HOBOTECH. Great Reviews, always! How would you compare this Bluetti AC50S to the Jackery 350 and which one would you recommend??
Hoboooooooooooooooooooooo Technooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo may the force be with you
Arrived today... Nice piece of kit... It's smaller and weighs less than I thought it would. (That's what they ALL say)..
even when a person doesn't NEED the product you review, your videos are worth watching just for the entertainment and comic relief... lol TY!! :-D maybe someday i wll understand the technical part.. or not.
Hi Mr Hoboteck! Im retire with small SS Check. So, I got a small Van and I plan to hit the road to visit Grandkids and some parks. I hace to use my savings And I can’t afford losing them. All Im buying its a 25 quarts Fridge and a 500 wats generator. So, If you in my situation which one you’ll buy? The bluetti 500 for $449 or The R600 max also $449. All I need it for is the fridge, laptop and maybe some camas batteries. I appreciate your help in advance! And congratulations in your channel I enjoy the way you detailed everything. Thanks!
Woe, just saw the BRAND NEW BLUETTI, HUGE WATTAGE!!!
Good review. Would love to see inside. I know - buy one and crack it open - LOL
Great review. Can you explain some more what you would use the 5521 outputs for please?
Hey man I love your videos! I just picked up a bluetti ac50s about a week ago and I used your code. It has already been on a couple trips, primarily being used to power an electrowarmth heating pad for my truck topper bed setup. Anyway, my only complaint is that the 12v charger is about a foot long. Any chance I can use a goal zero or jackery 12v car charger? Or something else? It needs to be a few feet long at least. Thanks @hobotech :)
