Interesting bits and pieces:
0:36 - Are you actively listening to new music (especially deathcore) or how do you find new bands?
2:24 - What do you honestly think about this new wave of deathcore music?
4:18 - Slipknot is a good example for a band which has reached the "mainstream" market of heavy music. Can you explain why so many bands are trying to get there too?
5:40 - Is your new album "The Valley" the next stage of the Whitechapel sound?
6:53 - A lot of fans turn their backs on bands or create internet shit storms as soon as they change their sound. How do you handle this?
9:43 - The Lyrics in the song "Black Bear" off your new album are about fears and horror scenarios. Is there a real story behind it?
10:54 - What are your personal favorite songs off your new record "The Valley" ?

Phil looks more relaxed than before....glad he's doing alot better
Wait what he had?
@@toulagewrgogala4017 in most interview back than he looked uncomfortable and didn't look like he didn't even wanted to do interviews
Phil is way more extroverted than before
Yeah its amazing see him speak that much
Yes and oh yeah nahui
oh yeah nahui my friend
@@swagpirat769 sogar unter Impericon 😂
Oh yeah nahui
He still looks uncomfortable here
Love Phil's shoutout to Shadow Of Intent
they are they just the best in the business :D Cant ignore that
He actually interview the vocalist for shadow of intent on his UA-cam channel
ben is gorgeous guy
When he said the vocalist would practice this is exile front to back that hit me, I used to do the same thing with Whitechapels music when I did vocals in my basement as a teenager.
Came back to re watch this interview and that shoutout made me look into SOI.
Not even 10 seconds in and phil already spitting the truth
It's very fortunate to hear Phil's speaking voice sound so strong and full and healthy despite how hard and gutteral he has always gone in his vocals.
He has great technique, that is why he hasn't damaged himself much
That's why he hasn't damaged himself AT ALL, if you do your vocals right, there's no damage done to your vocal chords, he's amazing.
When you learn how to do growls you won't hurt yourself, I know That because I learned it myself.
NoLuckScape Exactly, the hardest part of vocals was learning highs, with my voice being deep it was harder to do that correctly, but I never hurt myself because I knew control. Phil actually helped me learn how to do gutterals more efficiently when I was at one of his live shows at the end of the ten year anniversary tour, it was awesome as fuck.
@@dalynbratcher9888 my dude I would love to be in your place that day 🤘😀
I think this new album hits deep for me. I'm glad I'm still a whitechapel fan.
Agreed😊
Whitechapel kicks ass🤘
I fell away from Whitechapel for a while. But this new sound, even Phil's clean vocals, are badass. Very well done. I'm really looking forward to the new album. And the shout out to Katatonia, hell yes.
Nice to hear that phill doesn’t give a sh*t about the haters. I love their earlier stuff, but I’m so stoked about this new album. Music has to evolve. Making the same sound over and over again is also boring for the artist. I’m an oil painter, but I try to evolve too. Trying new things is part of journey. They got my support and looking forward to seeing them live
i feel the same way, that sound better to me
So you paint little trees like me?
@@rudy4626 I paint little racing cars!
@@blizzlichd1338 Evolving I see.. 👀
Honestly I feel like this album has so much more soul in it. Like this is him and his life and I’m here for it. And almost all the songs fucking go in, even with the clean vocals
I look up to Phil Bozeman. I want to thank him for what he does, and all of his tutorials he sends out
I knew “Phillip” when he was in high school. I see Alex more often now, but I didn’t know until recently that they were in Whitechapel. Crazy
you can hear the Tennessee in their voice lol
You're the only ten I see
I’m from Tennessee and I can vouch. 😂
Sam Geezy dame here dude lol
Being from a tiny little town called eagleville, and then the rest in Knoxville, one hundred percent.
Dalyn Bratcher I live in Murfreesboro!
I’m digging the newer melodic sound. Just bought the valley album. Its my first Whitechapel album.
WHY DOES PHIL TALKING ABOUT SOI JUST MAKE MY ENTIRE WEEK?!
I swear bro. Shadow of Intent should be running the scene IMO
@@NealBones I AGREE...
Phil said "like" like 1000 times ❤
“You know”?
😂😂😂
"Like, smash that 'Like' button!"
Third Depth is the best song they've released so far, glad the boys really like it too!
Ce1392 His delivery on that song reminds me of stuff off Mer De Noms
They spoke the realist shit here.
Realest*
Happy to see Phil really talking...opening up. You can tell he's doing a lot better. Always have respect for these guys. Not a HUGE fan, but a fan of their evolution. Definitely defined the span of the genre and how it has grown. Love the new album wtf. Dude's killed it.
The album is a monster. So good.
I love this band! They're the only band that is very local to me and haven't sold out and said they're from a different city!
Whitechapel just keeps getting better and better
Definitely looking forward to Phil releasing a book. I'm sure it will be a hard read but probably helpful for hus soul. This album is going to be very interesting
Phil has some awesome clean vocals and his range is so goood!!
Whitechapel will always be Whitechapel they are one band that does their own thing and the sound they create is awesome
Exactly. Whitechapel can do whatever the fuck they want.
@@BrianWshowusthemagic and they fucking kill it
New Album touches on so much, really deep and heartfelt..great album!!!
Last interview Iw atched with Phil, he was in a tour bus and talked so few, now he has a better voice and he talks more, niice 😄🤘🏻
I love White Chapel even more after realizing their Guitarist sounds like Bobby hill
I unintentionally got into Whitechapel when my grandmother died. They were definitely the heaviest band I listened to at the time. Looking back their music definitely helped me through that time. Putting all of my grief and emotions into that music really helped me remain calm and be there for the rest of my family. Cheers for the awesome tunes guys and keep doing what you are doing!!
Surprising shoutout to Katatonia! One of my favourite bands.
Fook the haters. Love whitechapel from the first album to this new one. Still and always my favorite bands.
Phil is the reason I got into doing extreme vocals. Listening to This Is Exile and The Somatic Defilement then seeing Whitechapel live completely inspired me and I have never questioned why. Just accepted it because inspiration leads the way.
Love old Whitechapel and love this new sound as much or more. To me Whitechapel always evokes deep emotion, The Valley does this even more. Music, and all art, must evolve to remain interesting and relevant. Not that my opinion matters at all, but I love this evolution and love watching the growth of extremely talented musicians.
I cannot wait for this album. I can already tell its going to be my favorite Album thus far.
Rivers of Nihil reppin!
Yeah, IKR!? Hands down one of 2018 records, go check it out anyone who didn't, no regrets for sure whatever genre you prefer!
@@brunocosta6849 truth
Christian Royal I saw them live a year ago and they put on a great show
Evolution and growth is always a good thing, it obviously keeps things fresh for the artists themselves , of course most metal fans fear that but expanding your skillset is a good thing, now completely doing a 360 and all the sudden you want to be a different thing or be rich and famous and start making pop albums that sound like maroon 5 or some shit(hmm hmm, not gonna name any names), but in the case of whitechapel I really enjoy their newer stuff, they are evolving well
bmth lol
Whitechapel and Periphery my 2 favorite bands dropping new albums a week apart from one another. 2019 must be my year!!!!!
Been a Whitechapel guy since back when they were on Myspace having to tell people they weren't a church/church group. Fairy Fay is my all time favorite song. I'm good with a band "evolving" and trying new sounds, but seems like the technicality of the music decreases after This Is Exile. Not trying to hate, but it's impossible not to think they could and should be doing so much more with three guitarists. I'm good with the evolution of a band, just feels like they are limiting themselves with the guitar work. Make me appreciate The Black Dahlia Murder even more. They have evolved, but have kept true to their heavy roots while getting even more technical.
Gonna see these guys in a few months. #uckin excited !
Somewhere someone commented that Alex looks like Jimmy Kimmel and now I’m not able to unsee that 🤦🏻♂️
Why did you have to say that?! Now it cant be unseen😤
Not even close
Glad to hear third depth was their favourite haha ❤️❤️❤️
Refreshing attitudes in the metal scene. Great songs so far, boys! Keep that shit comin'!
I miss the old sound of Whitechapel. But I'm glad these guys are doing good. Makes me want to pickup their album just to support them. Eventhough I like the heavier side of things. These are genuine dudes.
r00t hkr agreed
Love that Rock n Roll High School poster on the wall The Ramones was amazing!
Being a long time Whitechapel Fan I love the new sound and respect they are trying new things. Will always see Phil as one of my favorites and will always look to his voice as inspiration for my own vocals when trying some out
Oh Phil. I love how generous you are
ShookHot I fucking love sever the king!
A loud wire video popped up in my feed ‘Heaviest vocalists’ white chapel was on there- I checked em out and loved it
I myself love hickory creek. It was beautiful
"You can have your opinion but it doesn't always have to be heard."
Thy Art is Murder: we are the last deathcore band blabla
Whitechapel: say whut?
for some reason phil reminds me of luz from band of brothers here
Their albums keep getting better and better. Can't wait for the next one. Hickory Creek is a GREAT song.
Can't wait for the new album, they're my favorite band
whitechapel forever!!!
Cant wait for that album
Yo your profile picture is trippy af
@@Ramstein0121 it's the WC logo
@@Abasedbymygrief yeah i know, it just look trippy. it's like spinninh or something
@@Ramstein0121 fair enough
Keep on progressing Whitechapel! I love all the softer more progressive tracks. When i first heard Hickory Creek i was like "THIS IS WHITECHAPEL?!! FUCK YEAHH!!"
So down to earth, you guys are very confident and comfortable in yourselves, refreshing to see such think skin. I'm a long time fan but like you said music and people evolve that's just natural. People aren't taught "if you don't have something good to say, don't say it" anymore. People who are supposedly "adults" are spending more time watching/ listening to stuff they DON'T like so they can disrespect and hate, and I agree, it's a psychotic behavior. So back to the positive! Just keep being the wonderful humans you are, and thank you eternally for this very deep and personal journey into The Valley :) Sounds great!
Alex, a big guy and knowing he speaks, esp his voice,.... definitely lighter than phill's. Didn't see that coming😜
Sigit Purwa I don’t think anyone in the band is over 6 foot lol Ben harcerelode was 6”1 I think
@@dimebagdarrell4949 now since he's departed, alex counts in dude.
Ben is a hulk tho.
Sigit Purwa Gabe is big as fuck too but Ben was on roids tho lol I remember how skinny he was and then got big as fuuuck
@@dimebagdarrell4949 yes gabe...he's the boss. I mean, who TF would tell him, "do tapping like a freakin john myung"... LOL
Always looking forward to your music 🤘 I love whitechapel
I remember listening to red winter dying back when I lived in down there. I remember seeing them when it was just local shows. I'm super happy with how everyone has succeeded since the beginning
This album is truly amazing🤘
The fact you fellas are from Tennessee is badass. Country boys playing deathcore. Badass boys. Keep it up 👍🏻
Amazing album so far!
I dig your profile pic, Art the clown puts Pennywise to shame 😎😎
Only a month and a half away it come cannot wait to listen to this killer record 🤘🏻
Phil and Alex are so fucking chill.
Bands like Whitechapel & Oceano are like the OGs of deathcore, when you think deathcore you think of them.
imo
I am very excited for this new album.
From san pedro belize central america respect phil for speaking the truth whitechapel my favourite deathcore band period respect to lots of bands but you guys are the PANTERA. Of deathcore for me RESPECT WHITECHAPEL
Okay, who else here other than me would love to hear a Cannibal Corpse acoustic set?
Hey, I gotta stay (again), This is My First album from Them, It's Fucking Awesome.
It's embedding itself into My Brain like The Faceless Autotheism did. Non~Stop listening to It.
I love Phil’s gutturals and growls, because who doesn’t love them? But I also really enjoy Phil’s clean vocals. He has an amazing voice and talent no matter how he sounds.
Waiting for u in Poland awwwee could be awesome :))
This new album is amazing!!!
when WhiteChapel released Mark of the Blade, the first song that really got to me was Bring me Home. it was a change of pace for the band but it was a great change of pace. IMO artists should always try new things, and having clean vocals in a Whitechapel song was VERY different. i loved it. the direction that they are heading in is a great one and i cant fucking wait to hear the new album
Fuck, I'm glad they mentioned Rivers of Nihil, for sure one of the best records of 2018!
I was 12 when This is Exile came out and I first heard Whitechapel and I've been hooked since. Still jam it daily, but these last two albums don't hit the spot for me. Good on them for trying new things though
Think I was 15 when I saw them with Trivium on tour 2010. Didn't take to them at all, thought they were sorta 'too heavy' then recently have came round to them can't get enough of them, and actually went back and listened to the older albums and kinda like them, my hunger for heavier stuff has definitely increased since then
I honestly more enjoy their progression in their newest album
In my opinion, The Valley is the best album they've released since This Is Exile.
Tyler Smith I enjoyed mark of the blade too
Can we get a play through of one of the new songs please!!!
Witechapel & Phil Bozeman wow !!
The best fucking nice Band
I love you band, the magic Guturals and Breakdowns...
excited for this new record.
Always happy when someone mentions Katatonia
Phil with the shoutout to Shadow of Intent. I couldn't love him any more if I tried to.
Stoked to give this one a spin!
New album is so good
I may not be a deathcore frequenter, but the valley was the quickest I've ever bought a deathcore record.
Truth be told. I don't dig their early work. Maybe because I discovered them when the singles off of this album dropped? Either or, I love this album, man. Dope ass release. Look forward to more of your work and sad I miss you guys a while back with Revocation
phill is blessed at metal industry successful riched band verry easier to pay operated here past earings
Baker Mayfield, QB for the Browns, looks like Phil Bozeman!! It's uncanny and I love it!
Loving the new stuff!
Can't fuc*ing wait!!!!
why bother censoring the work fuck?
Oh good Phil is a fan of Katatonia, nice to know
It would’ve been nice to have more questions about the new album instead of asking them what they think of other bands.
Phil is honestly a huge inspiration for me...(hey c-train)
Sup Peyphone
Also the shout out to Nihil.....yes please!! 😈😈
Your music is my lifeline, your awesome
Great interview
How many times is the sentence ^YOU KNOW^ used in this vid, seriously can someone count it please ive gotta go to work, love the band btw
I knew Black Bear was about that. Fucking drugs man. Got my mom hooked on the shit as well. Fuck man. So emotional. Love it
Phil „you know“ bozeman
Here for the Shadow of Intent comment! Representttt!!!
Saw them at mayhem one year, they stole the show. Enjoyed them more than slayer and I grew up on slayer!
I'm just curious with the plugs, is there any hole in his ear???
"You can have your opinion but it doesn't always need to be heard."
Put that shit on billboards.
What's the song in the intervals between them speaking and during the questions on the screen?
Black bear
