When mapping the "midi note"s to the pads corresponding to the sample pads on my ddj200 controller, this website will only allow me to utilize the samples from deck 1. I need to also be able to map the samples from deck 2 onto the launchpad. Any help?
Sorry you're having problems. Afraid we're unfamiliar with the ddj200 controller. What is required in order to access Deck 2 that isn't available from Components?
are you saying that you actually have to log in to save your custom layouts?

is there an easier way to add a bunch of CC buttons? Specifically, i want to make 64CC buttons in order to correspond with beatmaker 3's 64 pad layout; it helps me when i'm chopping up a big sample.
You can hold down Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) to copy/paste pads onto other pads. You can also select multiple pads and copy them, so you can very quickly fill the surface with CC widgets.
Hi and thanks for the previous answer! For the launchpad mini mk3 can I store more than 8 faders for the volume (the same for send and pan), or is it limited to a maximum number of 8? 😊
Launchpad Mini [Mk3] can store up to 3 Custom Modes. Every Custom Mode uses the 8×8 grid of pads so one Custom Mode would be limited to 8 Volume/Send/Pan faders as each fader uses an entire column of pads.

is there a way to hide the ableton group track column on the launchpad so i don't have the group's tracks columns and the redundant group track displayed, which i find redundant?
Afraid we don't fully understand your question. Which Group track are you referring to? Are you hoping to hide something visible in Ableton Live using Launchpad or are there controls on Launchpad itself that you're hoping to change?

Do the various custom modes remain memorized every time I turn them on and every new live set I open or do I have to re-memorize them every time? So I would like to have the same set ups for every project I open. If yes, I would like to know if this is still valid for all novation controls with the possibility of custom mode, thanks!
Yes, that's right. You can store up to 4 Custom Modes on Launchpad X. Custom Modes are saved on the hardware and aren't removed or deleted when you power cycle. This is true for all devices that feature Custom Modes.
I can't see anywhere the option to set keystrokes for the buttons. Is this possible like with launchkey?
Can I program my launchpad mini to start and stop recording when I am playing my windsynth instead of using the computer mouse or keypad
This is easiest with Ableton Live. When a track is armed for recording in Live, empty clip slots will appear in dim red. Press one of these slots to start recording to the pressed clip.
Is it possible to place a single note or change the CC to note number? Is it possible to control CCs by pressure?
Hello there, sorry if I'm impertinent with my question but I'll give it a go anyways, i use the Looper stock plugin from Ableton and I'm wondering if there is a way to map and screen with the leds of the launch pad the same that's going on the Ableton Looper for example when i map record that the button that i mapped turns red when record, yellow when playing and blue when adding up to the loop, do you think this is possible with the custom mode, i want this so i don't have to see my computer screen just the launchpad X mk3 that i got as a guide, so far i could only make the looper work on momentary mode, if i put toggle i gotta double press record and play so it could be nice if it can follow the looper dynamic with the lights. You can certainly take control of the Looper plug-in using a Launchpad Custom Mode and the MIDI learn function within Ableton Live but dedicated LED feedback is trickier to achieve. LED behaviour is ultimately determined by MIDI data and note velocity values sent back to Launchpad. That's possible. You can assign a note mapping of your choice to the pads using Components - components.novationmusic.com/launchpad-x/custom-modes/new
Quick question, is there a way of keeping the original clip colour when playing a clip in Session View, rather than it changing to green? Cheers! :)
How do you change between user custom modes (1 to 3) in the Novation Mini? Thanks
The custom modes are represented by the three pads under the word "Custom" on the launchpad (Drums, keys, user). These are factory-programmed as shown in the video, but all three can be configured in components to your liking. Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.

Hello, thank you for the amazing tutorial. :) I'm having trouble assigning an instrument to a "Control Change" section of my Launch Pad. I have a series of vertical pads that I would like to assign snares and i'm not sure how to do so. Is there any info/instruction you could share to help me figure this out? Thanks.

I would buy the launchad x. Is it possible to customize at least the latest launchpad of the mk2 series? I mean the pro, because it continues to serve me and replace it with this better customizing the software like the other new products. Only for the previous Launchpad Pro.

Novation Components software is only available for our Mk3 series of Launchpad controllers (Launchpad X, Mini, and Pro). The Launchpad Mk2 is still fully compatible with Ableton and other DAWs.

How can I create a 16 Sequencer in the Custom Mode on the Launchpad?
It isn't possible to add a step-sequencer to Launchpad X or Launchpad Mini using Components. However, with Components, you can create a Custom Mode that turns the pads into various customisable controls, such as QWERTY keyboard controls, faders, chromatic keyboards, scaled keyboards, drum grids, CC buttons, and more. If you're looking for a Launchpad with a built-in step sequencer, you might want to check out Launchpad Pro [Mk3].
Is there any way to adjust gate length and not just step length? Maybe in an update?

Afraid Launchpad X doesn't feature a Low Power Mode. It's primarily designed for Ableton Live control on Mac and Windows PC but can also be used with iPad, if powered using a USB hub, as explained in our Help Centre article here -

Deberías echarle un vistazo a Launchpad Pro [Mk3]. Este es el único Launchpad que cuenta con un secuenciador incorporado que se puede utilizar tanto con hardware como con software.

I have the MIDI CC toggle working in custom mode as you have here, however if I make a change on Live's GUI (say with the mouse) the status isn't updated on the Launchpad. Is this how it's meant to be? i.e. I click a mapped Toggle CC button (say mute) on Live but the launchpad button doesn't update to show this. (the control is just one way, not 2 way)
I second this question. I stumbled across this problem last week and can't seem to find a solution anywhere how to solve it.

Got a little power bank and am using it with my IPad. So exciting... especially with the new clip launching auv3(s). Getting sicker round here! In a good way!
Great video. I recorded every single note of my Handdrum as AIF sound files and would love to assign each note to a field on my Launchpad Pro MK3 - I tried via Instrument Rack but that didn't work out. It worked with Drum Rack but then I only have 16 fields. Any thoughts what I am missing? Thanks!

You can add 4 drum racks per custom screen.

Afraid not. These Customs Modes are a new feature that we added to our Launchpad Mk3 range.
any firmware update coming with MPE features when Live 11 comes out?

There are no current plans to add those features to Launchpad X but we really appreciate your feedback on this. You can use the MIDI learn feature within Ableton Live to manually map the Capture feature to any pad of your choice, you may want to assign it to a pad in a Custom Mode.
Can I map a specific pad to a specific track in ableton?
Absolutley, this can be done within Ableton Live. You can use the MIDI Learn feature with Ableton Live to map a software parameter to a pad of your choice.
Guys mine does not map into Ableton… maybe preferences settings? Please help
Specifically, which version of Ableton Live are you using? Launchpad X should be automatically detected by Ableton Live version 10.1.3 or later.
If you have a compatible version of Live, you should find that you can open up the Preferences and manually configure it as a control surface within the Link Temp MIDI tab, as explained here -

After I serup a custom mode with drum grids in all 4 quadrants I can't figure out how too get it too work in ableton too play sounds on those pads in the grids
Which device/plug-in within Ableton Live are you hoping to control using that Custom Mode? Generally speaking, a Custom Mode isn't required in order to achieve that kind of control within Ableton Live.
@@NovationTV basically I was curious it says with the novation launchpad pro mk3 you have 8 custom pages how do I install drum sounds too all 64 pads on all 8 pages like the previous launchpad pro you could have 8 pages of 64 drum sounds?
@@showersw There are only 16 midi channels so the most you could have would be 4 pages of 4 kits each.
@@mungomidge1090 @Mungo Midge thats one thing I don't like about the new launch pads and Components. I liked the older launchpad pro because I could make 8 pages of 64 drum sounds for each of my 2 launchpads!!!!
hi guys, i got a launchpad Pro MK3 now to test but it ONLY has 16 scales :/ can i somehow edit/add more scales to it?
If you find that limiting, you can also create your own scales using the Custom Modes.

ok so it seems it doesnt work. guys i dontunderstand this, in Launchpad Pro you had 32 scales! and now in MK3 you got 16 scales. the Custom Mode is a disaster? how can you e.g. add 16 more scales with all root notes? it seems to be not possible and the custom mode page is a disaster, adding notes you have to drag and drop 64 note widgets seperately and for each scale and note? im sorry but this is a bummer and total disaster if true, i hope you got a solution i dunno.

How can i use the „User“ on my Lunchpad MK2 ?
What are you hoping to do? Perhaps our Support Team can assist? Launchpad Mk2 features a pad labelled, 'User 1' for accessing User 1 Mode. This can be used to play drum racks in Lives MIDI tracks (if no assignments have been made), or to freely assign the Launchpad buttons to any MIDI assignable parameter in Live. User 2 Mode can be used as a convenient place to access Max for Live presets (if no learn assignments have been made), or to freely assign to any parameter in Live.
