4:30 I really dig the sustain and the chord builder mode in general. Are these features available on the Push 2? Is it built into the Ableton DAW, or is the proprietary stuff explicitly programmed into Launchpad?
Hey dude, great movie and thanks for creating. You obviously spent a lot of hours learning the Launchpad. I've just bought a second-hand one of a MKII Pro very cheap but I'm assuming there's not much difference between the models. Anyway, you have inspired me to really learn all of the functions for the sake of music creation - thank you!
it‘s a good device, but man, I hate these bright white and blue LEDs. I had a Push 2 in the past, where I modified the Live-python script to eliminate those, especially in note mode. Unfortunately this is not posible with the LP MK3.
Aw I really like them :( they show up way more intense than they actually are on my camera, but I enjoy the sort of future-wave vibe of the LED's. A dimmer would be nice though.
Hey man, I am doing an indie singer songwriter thing (shins, broken bells, etc) with only myself. In my studio, I play all the instruments myself. My partner wants to join in with me, and do like a 2 piece band right. Maybe go out and play these songs live. My partner does not play an instrument, but was wondering if this was enough to launch loops, clips, samples, ambient stuff, basically a band in the box. A lot of which I record myself in my studio, and possibly turn into loops that she can trigger. Is this enough to do simple things like launching loops and clips and adding ambient, things basically a full backing track controlled by her while I play guitar and sing. Or do we need to go with a stand alone like an MPC for that kind of thing? Since its stand alone.
Great vid man!!! Question.. can i use this in combination with midi keyboard…. Lets say i want to record the beat with the lauchpad, but the melody and chords on my midi keyboard.. all on the go cotrolled by this launchpad… or lets say a recorded voice coming from the audio interface like a scarlett… all connected to the daw?
Very nice video! Much better (for me at least) to get a grip of the NLP compared to the feature videos that you see out there. I subscribed to stay connected :)
Hey kinda random but if you use this to perform how do you fit more than like 1-2 songs in this session view format? Can you really do an hour set launching clips in one ableton file?
hello audio haze i’m a 14 soon to be a 15 year old and i really really want to buy the launchpad pro mk3 but i only have experience with a classical guitar…can u give me some tips and advice about the launchpad pro mk3 and just in general, and do u think that i’d be able to learn it?…i really love this electronic instrument and i will do anything i can to master it! i hope you see this.
Great review kudos! Really practical. Do you know offhand if one can control the cutoff of a filter, placed on a drum track let’s say... and if so, how!?, given there are no knobs Ta !!
Thats a good question! There's custom setting on the launchpad that I believe lets you choose to map anything to anything, but beyond returns, pan, and volume the "slider" menu of the launchpad doesn't have anything I believe. To be honest, I have a cheap korg nanokontrol that I use to control knob elements, I highly recommend if you're looking for a budget control for mappable faders and knobs! The launchpad and the nanokontrol are a killer duo
@@AudioHaze thanks man. As far as I can make out you can slide up and down a column of pads (the same way you’d adjust volume say) in order to adjust a mapped cutoff on a filter , I think !!??
@@therealrussellsmythYeah that's how I would imagine it would work I'm just unsure of a menu where you can access this without making a custom view in the software :/
What I would like to know is, can you use the session view and sequencer at the same time? So let’s say I have my first 4 tracks in ableton be for the 4 track sequencer so they can get their sounds, drum kit (505) , bass line (something) synth lead (something) classical piano(something). Then I have track 5-8 be 4 other things, like plugins or other stock sounds. Can you run it all at the same time?
Quick question, The reason why I’m not thinking of not buying this is that I feel like there’s no sequence mode. I’m not a finger drummer and just need a controller but also a machine that I can lay chords and lay drums without learning how to finger drum. Would the Launchpad have a sequence mode by just tapping like the circuit tracks or Maschine? Thanks for this vid!
Hey! It definitely has a sequencer :) I use its sequencer to sequence midi gear as well as standalone hardware, it can do both! I will say its not the most intuitive sequencer ever, but it definitely has one
Nice vid! You showed some functionality I haven't seen in other "pro in-depth" videos - Thx! Strange off-topic Question though: sometimes when you stopped playback on clips, there were some audible pops - at ua-cam.com/video/uEp6p9ZN39c/v-deo.html and at ua-cam.com/video/uEp6p9ZN39c/v-deo.html - I've experienced the same thing when stopping playback (I'm a semi-noob with Ableton Live). Is that normal behaviour for Live? And does that happen when you stop playback during a performance?
I just noticed! I didn't realize until you pointed it out. My guess (although it is just a guess) is that it has to do with the amount of volume I'm pumping through this thing, and if I remember right it ends with a limiter which is trying its best not to let this thing clip. So at the end, perhaps the hard cut off causes a slight clip. In your experience, were you working with loud instrumentation like my track here?
@@AudioHaze Yep, AND I had a limiter on the master out. Maybe that's also had something to do with it? At any rate, I've ordered myself a Launchpad. Looking forward to getting lost in that.....!
