A game nobody asked for, made for an audience that does not exist, created by a committee that just ticks boxes, in a genre that nobody has cared about in 10 years. Real mystery why this game failed.

Mercante is getting some attention, but she's literally having to run around online constantly to catch that attention, but she's not getting paid from it, just getting exposure, and people die from exposure. Anita Sarkeesian is also getting nothing out of this, as her day is done, and people like her don't help people like her, so this new wave of muppets aren't inclined to pull her up behind them and give her a boost.
People still play ugly characters like in bethesda games or souls/born but we're not expected to take them seriously and it's our choice to make them that way. It's like the old rumor that rust was gonna pick your d- size based on your library history... why?
The goal is to inculcate the culture with average and ugly characters in media so that people come to accept themselves and reject any and all beauty standards.
Dude I’m a cross dresser and women have said I’m cuter than most women. 6 different times. I have autism if I wasn’t autistic I could easily have ocrean of hoes I’ve turned 6 non gay men, gay because as a cross dresser I look like actual women. I’m just that cute. why would I make my character ugly
When I play a game I want to play as a character that I can aspire to be or something more powerful than myself. I don't want a game company attempting to get me to accept myself for who I am. That's my therapist job. Game developers need to stop trying to play doctor, they're not qualified to be trying to help anyone with their life issues and in some cases they don't seem to be qualified to even be making games that are fun.
on the contrary women do not want to see anything powerful than themselves, thats why they vehemently attack beautiful female characters in the media. they are narcissistic enough that they only want to see themselves everywhere, otherwise they can't connect with it. hope u found ur answer
I think that's a really good point. A large appeal of fictional media is to present viewers/gamers with something we don't see in the real world, so when we see disingenuous narratives, or those that try to emotionally manipulating us by presenting characters who are meant to respresent us (they're not mutually exclusive), it's off base and unappealing.
Yes. Stop trying to bring the “real world” into the games. In a lot of cases we play games to ESCAPE the real world for a while. I want to play Zelda and live in Hyrule for a while, I don’t want them bringing a bunch of 2024 politics into Hyrule. I’m there to get away from all that for a while. 🙄
there is space for acceptance and betterment in video games, games like Celeste and Hellblade are prime examples that the problem is not actually flawed characters or self acceptance/deal with your problems kind of game. the problem is when you make the identity of the game something very few ppl relate to and an overblown "problem" that really does not exist.
Who would've thought that making a 40$ game on an oversaturated genre of F2P hero shooters would succeed while littered with horrendous looking characters, what made them think that they'll choose and spend 40$ for concord over Overwatch 2 for free
Indeed, and its released by Sony Entertainment, so i bet there cant be anything good related to the game. The only two possibly OW2 killers in near future i believe could take some players away would be FragPunk and Marvel Rivals - which will be free and looks way more fun than Concord.
Crazy they didn’t learn from such great examples. Lawbreakers are a phenomenal game, even better than the uninspired Concord, but it flopped because of its starting price
Companies see a multiplayer game make money and say "I want in on that too!" then develop a cheap knock off, price it 40/60$ and launch it with intense monetization. "Why is nobody playing our game?!?"
My friends and I spent about 15 minutes laughing about these character designs then moved on with our days. This is obviously the factor that tainted this game's reception and to ignore that is cope. It couldn't be clearer.

Concord: plays like a slightly worse Overwatch but the characters are ugly. Game is failing. The First Descendant: Plays like a slightly worse Warframe but the characters are hot. Game is doing well. I wonder what the difference could be? Such a mystery...
I like games which talk about turning away from escapism. But you can read between lines and have the most abstract scenario make it happen. Like ProjectMoon games - beautiful stories about people you have nothing in common with - setting, race age or fender - EXCEPT for what matters: struggles they go through. Its good to address the burdens you carry rather than escape from them, and a well-made game can inspire you in the matter. Dyi is not really "rooted in reallity". Dyi is dellusion about what reality is.
I personally don't mind the so called "ugly" characters, they have a more grungy aesthetic, if anything. Anyways, most games have a mixed roster both of hot & ugly characters. e: The Forever Winter, is an upcoming game that perfectly matches the "ugly" character aesthetic, which looks like fun to play.
The fact that you have to tell people / teach kids "Don't judge a book by its cover" is because we DO judge by how things look. And when you are trying to cast a wide net to make back your millions spent, you don't need added impediments like "game looks like trash". In this case, the gameplay and pricing is trash anyways, so the one bad decision about visuals and politics was just a red flag to consumers to not even try it out. Visuals makes the difference between "high initial peak, low ongoing players" and "low initial peak, low ongoing players" for trash games. It is true, in either case it means the death of a live service game, but for games with an upfront cost... they got your money. Thankfully, the audience is getting clued in on the red flags and not feeding that "upfront cost" model as much anymore. Its slowly getting into the more mainstream, though I suspect that the rapid inflation making everyone a LOT more pickier is a bigger factor in people getting informed on purchases than it is anything else.
Speaking of the DEI nonsense, someone should show Asmond the upcoming Suicide Squad update for lols if he hasn't already heard about it. They gender swapped and made gay an iconic character with "Mr." in his name, whose entire original premise was how he literally sacrificed everything for the love of his life.
they can only operate with censorship. I wonder how long before they try and put the heat on steam to remove/hide numbers. It's the only thing we got because they've sucessfully obfuscated console numbers for a loong time.
I was wondering when companies were going to try to stop Steam from showing numbers. Everyones using Steam Charts as a metric of popularity (and for good reason) and it is destroying these crap games from getting rolling.
@bluemyst42 People point out how bad Netflix shows are? Remove dislikes. UA-cam videos? Remove dislikes. Player counts, only time will tell, but they want us without information and without a voice.
@@bluemyst42 They can try but they've no right to the information, so they'll cry and moan but we'll always have our player numbers. Gaben ain't going to bend the knee to that bs.
We see this trend in the gaming industry where originality is set aside in favor of quick profit. It's disheartening to see creators lose their innovative spark in the pursuit of jumping on the latest trend.
its not game developers its the companies they just want free money and they are going after something already been successfull and they think we will blindly buy it but fail in the worst way possible i mean thats what they thought i dont think they feel the same now
It's absolutely ridiculous too that they're publishing six live services. That essentially means they want to make six studios under their own roof fight each other for player retention.
It probably kind of bullwhip effect. Live service was popular few years ago, then Sony spent a year to analyze the market research whether tapping into the market without knowing other developers also thinking about the same. By the game toke several years to make, it is already too late. Adding the DEI nonsense, Sony market their game eve worst than other turd service games.
wonder how much money DEI has cost companies in America the past four years. I’m talking about Bud Light, Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, video games, TV shows like Rings of Power, university funding, etc It’s gotta be in the tens or hundreds of billions
Don’t forget they pay millions of dollars to companies like Sweet Baby for literally nothing…”guidance” how to screw up I guess? And then we as customers are paying for those losses in form of increased subscriptions and prices.
Its truly incredible that evidently nobody who worked on Concord looked at that trash, and not once did they ask themselves, "Who asked for this? Who would even want this?"
It's just bad choice of political agenda messaging. Nobody complained when Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 1, 2, and 3, the originals(OG's), made the news for peak AC-130 video game graphics. The writing is on the wall. The wall being the entire advertising and agenda pushing of bad political messages.
It’s sad the devs and publishers are so easily gamed by the sweet baby inc types. DEI has become an instant recognition of woke nonsense and we aren’t in 2020. They’ll change as BlackRock has stopped funding DEI…stating it was a financial disaster to replace merit with race & gender. These woke leftist progressive ladies have been cut off the ngo funding they were getting to push this DEI stuff. Trump gunna be president, barring he survives Biden’s shadow puppeteers… And merit gunna be raging back where it belongs….how a country innovates and grows gdp isn’t DEI. Secret service was a massive wake up call yet it turns out the SS Trump had weren’t. They were homeland security DEI desk jockies. Hence the rollypollyness. Add that the world saw it in real time ….cheatle rumored to be resigning today. I doubt it….woman in boss positions haven’t accepted responsibility….”sloped roof caused a risk to ss snipers.” 🤦♂️
Another big negative of live service games is the they want to monopolize players(through dailies, battle passes, retention design). It’s tough to play multiple of them. Meaning the hurdle for you leaving one live service game for another is much higher. Nothing about concord seems interesting enough that someone would drop all the investment they’ve made in another live service for it.
He is right I would never want to play just an ugly normal person, I would love to play a grotesque monster, but just some 2/10 or 3/10 person in a game is boring and unpleasant to look at.
@PineappleBaconPizza it was clunky around the edges, but it made up for it by being balanced. Rock paper scissors classes, with the ability to swap between deaths is goid way to keep skill and meta in check.
Gay dude here. I think that would make me a member of this "Modern Audience" they created this game for. But in reality the ascetic of this game is just ugly to me. The pronoun insert is just cringe. And i wouldnt play this game if Sony paid me to! The First Decendent is way more appeing with the awesome character designs! Or Stellar Blade i absolutely loved. So sony needs to stop makeing games like this for my sake. Because its the complete opposite of what i like to see in videogames. This Modern Audience dosent exist.
It's just weird to me that video games are worried about what a person's sexual preference is. Who gives a shit? I could care less what someone's sexual preferences is. As long as they're not shoving it in my face, like most of today's entertainment is.
When DEI is integral it poisons everything else, when it's tacked on it's almost always because they realized they realized they had a turd and sought consultants to polish it.
Concord has the absolute WORST user experience. want to switch characters mid game and need to read what the abilities do for that character? sorry, you can only do this between re-spawns so you have MAYBE 10 seconds to pick a new character and read all of their ability descriptions. want to add a friend in the game? you have to go to the social tab and press "SHIFT + F1" to open the playstation friend menu. oh, you have a 60% keyboard and don't have F1 keys and don't have/remember the key combo to input F1? don't worry, you can just click on the labels that show the hotkey shortcuts at the bottom right of the screen. OH WAIT, the ONLY option you cant do with a mouse click is the "SHIFT + F1" to open friends menu. get rekt 60% users. Progression? let's have a "Job Board" with quest objectives to gain XP, so you can level up and unlock literally nothing. want to adjust your mouse sens in game? it only shows down to 1 decimal place (0.2) but the actual slider seems to have finer movement, so you'll have to eyeball the position of your horizontal and vertical sensitivity slider to match. but hey! at least they took the time to include the pronouns for every character even though theres absolutely no lore surrounding these characters that would warrant the needs to even distinguish the gender of the character. and don't get me started on how god awful the balancing is and how bad the games modes are designed. almost 2 entire clips to kill with IT-Z but the flying crossbow character just 2 shots everyone? jesus christ this game is so bad.
A neat detail Asmon brings up "if all the characters were hot anime girls" there is a game called Strinova that is basically Valorant and overwatch with anime girls
@@Existing_Echothat’s because PlayStation players have been conditioned to play easy third person action adventure games that almost require no aiming or skill for over a decade at this point.
It's the same with every DEI woke game. People on Twitter beg for games like this and then they don't play/buy them. It's all about identity, they' don't care to actually experience/support the product, they only care that it exists as a way to reaffirm their identity and give their side points in the culture war.
I don't know how they managed to do that, but somehow these characters don't look like heroes but more like people trying to cosplay as heroes but suck at it.
Prices keep going up and the quality and supported content keeps going down and being abandoned sooner. Totally agree.. A large portion of the live service games are soulless money-grabs. I feel fortunate to have grown up in the golden age of gaming where you bought a finished product and the only additional purchases were completely optional add-on expansion packs. Back when developers were competing for your business based on uniqueness and quality.
Concord 's visual design is the very thing that has plagued western game devs for quite some time now : Realism over style Listen here, no one wants the realism if it has no style, a.k.a. good-looking characters. (at the very least, unique looking la) If they're realistic AND they're good looking, good. If they're realistic BUT they're either bad or average-looking, who cares. I already see them everyday during transit. If you're gonna make non good-looking characters, the very least you could do is make them low pixel and blurred.
As a functioning adult with an interest in games and money to put into them; I do not have time to play 20 live service games at once. Ignoring the feature complete single player games I’ve already bought and would eventually like to get a play through out of and ignoring the quality of the game in question. There just aren’t enough hours in a week for anyone to play this shit.
Wow peaked at somewhere between 25 - 35m players at its peak. FF14 is currently doing quite well with about 30m active registered users and millions of daily active players. Therein lies the problem. Even if you factor in the world population, only a small subset has the means and income to play games at all let alone dozens of live service trash. CEO's have been greedy and blinded by their nonsense for far too long. No one is going to beat WOW at its peak or our modern equivalent with Fortnite. These gaming publishers deserve to fail, they cant do the bare minimum and read the room.
I used to be a fan of Yongyea back in 2014 when he did coverage on MGS 5 and when he ended his videos with "Join the Nasian!". Nowadays, his coverage of the news in video games is simply one-sided, leaving out context or simply walking around the main issue inflicting the problem itself. Now, I understand that he is trying to "keep the peace," as they say due to his VA work, but at the end of the day, it shouldn't leave out important information. Either he stops doing these half-truth news coverage and focuses solely full-time on his voice acting work, or just give us the full context on why the game industry isn't doing so well right now.
Atleast other games showing pronouns in dialogues/lore only so you can atleast ignore or skip it. But making pronouns as part of char's stats and what not so there's no way to ignore it?. Wtf😂
What I’ve found really interesting, is the change in tone with the average UA-camr. Has anybody notices that harsh insults like “retarded” and calling people “gay” is making a huge comeback? I noticed it in the last month. I really think the culture has changed. I also noticed HBO ads on twitter, so I don’t think these companies can boycott much longer
It's because the extreme "cancel culture" has kinda died out and people realize they have an audience that wont cancel them, so they feel more comfortable saying stuff like that more again.
they weren't even originally insults with my friend group, we dont even know where the trend of cancelling people for saying them came from lol. if its coming back, i see no issue with it, imo people shouldn't have given them so much power in the first place. especially gay, i always thought it was weird people disliked that but are fine with calling themselves queer, a word that was an actual insult and not just used for childish jokes..
i think its because youtuber have more freedom and have easier time to get away with it, they would get "cancel" but that just it, it just gonna be a bunch of vocal minority on twitter getting mad, while the youtuber themselves have a little more publicity from the "drama" like Asmon for example, people getting mad with him every week, but he still doing fine as always but imagine saying those word when you are an employee of those woke companies like Disney, you could have your salary reduced or worst, be fired
Tried SS for about 15 minutes over the weekend, and I couldn't get it out of my head how cynical the design is. It's like they think, "If we make a game where the player clicks a button and a bunch of big numbers go flying up along with flashy lights, colors, and noises, they'll be hooked!" I'm relieved to see that even the zoomers aren't buying into this "Sugar Buzz as Video Game" concept.
When games that have damage numbers give you the option to, I always turn them off because it's just more clutter on the screen. It's nice to have when you're tinkering with your equipment/build but while playing normally it's an eyesore. Same thing with when a game has an excessive amount of particle effects slapped onto your attacks.
There were a few comments in the video that wondered if the character design could really cause this. I think it's worth mentioning that we are attracted to beauty because it tends to be good (when natural). Beauty usually means healthy and taken care of. Fit enough to survive. It's not unreasonable to think that a product that contains such characters is also seen in such a light. When presented with an ugly character in a game, your first thought would likely be "these artists can't do their job, the game isn't taken care of, it's not fit to survive".
Live service games should be illegal. Once you pay for a whole sale game, you shouldn't have to keep buying stuff to progress or enjoy it.. It's such a nasty business, I remember as a kid I always wanted to play and have all the newest stuff in these trash games, thats who they market to, children. As an adult seeing how many trash games hit the scene each week and fail, all the money being wasted it's sad, by devs and consumers..
I can see why none of the characters are sexualized but what I don't get is WHY do none of them look cool or badass??? Like there's no super cool looking/badass space assassin or a space super soldier/merc something like Boba Fett or whatever This game was inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy right? Give me something like a cyborg talking raccoon that dual wields AK47s, give me a super buff alien that eats every single bullet and shits out damage, give me a robot that flies around and carpet bombs the battlefield Why the fuck would I wanna play as an old lady????????
There's nothing wrong with playing as an old lady. Ana from Overwatch worked. The problem is that THIS particular old lady does not look appealing or interesting in any way whatsoever.
if a character is ugly they have to be cool ugly still there are plenty of games where characters are ugly but they are cool asf so it makes up for it. no one wants to play someone that looks ugly and they arent interesting as well its just bad character design
We can pin it down to good character design. In this sense, diversity of body types is a good thing. Fundamentally, it is just down to good character design, the theme of the character and whether the character has some sort of coolness factor. It's good to have a mix of attractive and non-attractive characters in a hero shooter, but just make sure they are appealing in some way.
Cool thing about overwatch is they’ve been adding their dumpy weird “inclusive” characters too but they understand how to maintain balance and put hotties in the mix as well or give their ugly characters charm that makes their ugliness less abrasive. Last character was a giant lesbian miner and now we get a cool space cutie. It really ain’t hard to please both sides lol
The only reason Overwatch sold so well was the proliferation of the suspiciously high quality R34 of the characters that came out even before the game was released...
@@Desmond-DarkPlease don't be disingenuous. If you watched the video you can easily tell. Although if you want you can keep acting dumb. The pendulum is swinging back to the right side now.

It is of paramount importance to understand - that being against DEI, doesn't mean "being against women/ or race being present in a game". It's about not wanting to be PREACHED at by these insane fanatics. It's about not wanting to pay their wages.
I dont know how these big game studios dont have a legit consultant who is an actual gamer to tell them , "this aint it". Anyone of us could have told sony that the whole hero arena shooter thing is not the biggest deal right now and putting a $40 price tag on one is surely suicide. In almost every regard Concord would have been better off being a semi to full open world first person guardian of the galaxy esque space RPG/fps game. The multiplayer could have been a included feature like older game titles, good to see the new Warhammer game went that route.
They have consultants, but they're the kind that love and promote drivel like what's in Concord, focusing on this dystopian racist agenda of "equity" and "inclusion", which is actually a targeted attack against what makes up the greatest majority of people in the hobby, but it's fine because companies GET PAID for making this stuff. Be "diverse enough", mark enough boxes on a checklist and you get a big sum of cash from BlackRock through ESG. The decision of making this kind of garbage games is ideological and heavily financially incentivised, and neither do these companies care at all about having talents in their company, instead aiming for as many diversity hires as possible because that also returns them money from ESG, just to fire everyone once a game is pushed out of the door before they can ask for a raise. Really the entire "making a game" thing is just theatre. It's about the BRIDGE agenda, about trying to oversaturate the market with these messages, using new language, until people stsrt viewing it as normal or if they can't change the people, then their kids can take over who have been taught from scratch to not think critically, hate irrationally and be self-flagellating of their own culture, to hate the colour of their skin (white exclusively). This whole thing, sadly, has plenty of proof that it's happening, partly because the people behind it are so smug they aren't even hiding it. If you want a starter on this, check the UA-camr Kirsche over the DEI stuff. Regarding the problems with the education system, there was a high profile news a while ago on Twitter where a teacher was fired for sharing a video of himself helping a student trying to think on his own about a certain topic, following that, several teachers and ex-educators came out in support of him and sharing out their stories of which I could check a few for validity. This reply likely contains a lot of stuff UA-cam doesn't like as I've been muzzled multiple times, my comments getting automatically and silently taken down (and with disproportionally high frequency compared to other topics). I'm not going to stay and monitor if it actually goes through but hey, if it sends and you read through this, feel free to give me a positive response.
I'm nearly 32. I learned my lesson of voting with my wallet. I'm the case of F2P games, I'll vote with my time. 0 minutes in-game. There you go. That's what I think of all these live service games. Destiny 1 and CoD were enough. I gave those up and now enjoy the slow paced Need for Speed seasons. Even BF 2042 since it was free and I started maybe a few months ago.
I think one of the funnier things is they thought people would want to spend money on skins for ugly characters. It is wild that no one in that company cared enough to speak up unless they all truly thought they were cooking.
there should be a law for these games, where if it shuts down, the company for it should be forced to release the source code for it and for the servers running it. that way these games will at least be useful for something
Game companies dont seem to understand that image will always matter. My friend will give any game a try if he likes the look of just one character in the game. He hated battle royales after being burned out by fornite. He would never play apex legends because he didnt want to play another BR. We finally got him to look at the roster and he said "Fuck it! Loba got a nice ass" and joined us to play. Didnt care to work to unlock her so he just dropped the $10 to play her. People are simple. Don't make this complicated and you will make money.
Either he stops doing these half-contextual gaming coverages and solely focuses on his VA work full-time, or give us the hard truth and context for your viewers to be in the know of what with with the gaming industry right now.
No one wants more hero shooters, no one wants more live services when the market is over saturated, no one wants to pay 40$ for a level of quality that could pass off as f2p, on top of that no one wants injected DEI check box characters, it's alienating any players they had left.
I disagree with that BS call on people pre-ordering. Even if my buddy told me that a game is good I still wouldn't pre-order it. That's just the world we live in these days. A lot of gamers have basically been conditioned to never pre-order anything. The number of us only grows. The memes of pre-ordering a digital good speak for themselves.
4:36 That is the lamest looking drop landing I've ever seen, it's actually super impressive how lame they were able to make it look. Their body movements look like they were dropped off half a feet, look at that.
The other thing about these live service games is that they already come prepackaged with the intentional expectation of having to wait in order to MAYBE get good. For the exuberant budget necessary to maintain these kind of games, it's not worth the investment in most cases. In our fast paced gaming community where thousands of games come out every year, why the hell would anyone, young or old, broke or not, would invest in some game that has lesser gameplay than others in the past, does not appeal to the fantasy gaming brings to warrant interest, and is not even complete day one? There's too much competition. For that your better off playing Fortnite, Minecraft or Overwatch and call it a day. The one game format that should be at its most complete is a live service Multiplayer game, because guess what most people want to do, PLAY IT, not WAIT for it to finally get good, if it ever gets good to begin with. That's why people abandon these games easily, because it's not even good, stable or ready since day one. Helldivers 2 did great for a good window of time because it was already functional, great, appealing, and unique since day one.
This is somewhat unrelated but, I also hate AAA companies trend of announcing games YEARS before they come out. So many times I've seen reveal trailers for games and gone "Oh this could be interesting, I'll keep an eye on that". But then it takes so long for them to actually come out that by then my attention has been pulled to something else completely.
@@bluefang62 I hear you there. I think the reason for that is due to how many games come out and the fact that they want to build some form of hype train to maximize a games selling point. Especially for games that cost a lot. It is not wrong per se but when overdone and literally like 5 years away, I would stop and save the ad at a maximum of 2 years if the game is that BIG or large in scope. If not, then within 1 years of release I think that's more than enough time to get a hype train and realistically get the game to the audience who want to buy. They can just use Facebook and other social media venues to keep the audience going so they're satisfied and ready to buy when it does come out. Another problem is their budget. How can a AAA studios expect to make a large profit as a company if their projects cost like $500 million dollars and are too afraid of pushing the game creatively (sticking to trends, or trying to milk to the point people are annoyed and unsatisfied. I think at that point, they should really cut corners more efficiently or decrease the scope of the game for less cost and more time making an efficient game for the size. The Yakuza series literally took place in the same city block and has more engagement and fun than most AAA releases I have played.
The problem is video games have become corporatized .. The creatives have lost all the power in the industry.. Instead of ppl saying..lets come up with our own cool new concept for a game. We have suits saying do thst thing thats making money.. A new live service game can come out tomorrow and take over.. But for that to happen the creative juices have to be flowing..creatibe ppl have to be given time and resorces and it has to be understood creative endeavors are by nature a risk.. And they deliver something new and fresh that can capture the industry.. Gamers are dying for new experiences..but that takes creativity, technology, talent and funding all working in tandem.. The gaming industry has become too successful for its own good.. Budgets are so inflated...even on small projects..from things like visuals..just to meet a standard..that theres little really going into creativity.. Rip hifi rush.
This is a 10 Dollars game being sold for 40. Back in the day, there was a package from Valve, for 9.99$ you could get CS1.6, Condition 0, The deleted scenes, and CSGO. That is way more than they are offering for 40$. I still play some of them, and old school gamers do as well. I would NEVER pay 40 dollars for this BS and I think that no actual gamer will. Only critics, content creators, or Sony's own people would. This is a game that is not worth playing even as Free to play, and they expect us to pay 40$ for it, while also REQUESTING A PSN ACCOUNT AGAIN?
I would have preferred Sony release that Twisted Metal live service game instead of this pile of garbage. I'm rather pissed off that a series I've been wanting a new entry for got rejected for this DEI Overwatch bootleg.
@@razercleriyou8554 What's interesting is that we didn't even know that a new TM game was in the works until it was announced it was cancelled. It's a bummer, but I suppose that's what happens when Sony tries to work on 12 live service games simultaneously. I do like the TV show at least, you're right about that.
Players get sick of their current live service game, try out the new hot release, realise it's not as good as their current game, quits and goes back to being sick of their current game
why would they possibly think 12 live service games at the same time was a good idea, they would literally be their own competition. would you rather have one game with millions of players that you could put all of your money and work into to make it really good and keep your millions of players playing, instead of spreading it out to 12 different games that will have 100,000 players each, won’t be good enough to keep them playing, and die within a year? i dont want 12 destiny’s, i want 1 destiny, and 11 elden rings.
Designing such a rooster of ugly, bland and generic characters in such an overcrowded market is kind of a fatal mistake. Almost like a suicide, really.
The current live service game I'm playing right now is the first descendant made by South Korean studio nexon. They actually listened to their fans and when they heard that one of the areas where we can farm has an increased chance of getting more loot and resources. Instead of removing this they're going to put across the entire board a buff to match the drop rate that they unintentionally gave us to all outposts. We the fans are extremely excited for this so we can get more loot and supplies so we can be better at the game because it is a player versus computer not a player versus player.

The gaming industry I believe has just gone downhill. It's a real shame that companies that try to get recognition are putting games out there like this that no one will ever play because they're just trying to stick with the trend or copying concepts and ideas from other popular games.
mmm i think the flops and the succeses are just way more noticeable, with games like Elden Ring, BG3, DD2, Last Epoch, Howarts Legacy, Etc being released lately is hard to say that the game industry is in decline, we gamers have never been getting such amazing games in this quantity. but as the succeses are incredible the flops are awful, i think the correct way of describing it is: a few big game companies really not knowing what gamers want while a few great companies are getting a lot of traction for everything they make.
Asmond Gold do a vid on how bad NBA 2k is robbing its players with vc prices and micro transactions. IT IS RIDICULOUS. If you look into it bro you will be blown away.💯
My biggest issue with live service like this is: why would I want to spend/waste my time and money on a game that will only be around for a year or two with nothing to show for it? It just isn't sustainable for a playerbase to play, compare it to something like FFXIV which has been around for years, the devs listen to their fans and know their fans and in turn the fans continue to buy in month in and month out, get the expansions and the optional dlcs like mounts and stuff. It's just not comparable because one is designed for draining accounts and wasting time and the other is for pure entertainment and enjoyment.
I dont really blame the devs for this, if hotel management tell the chef to bake a shit cake and they serve it to people, I feel like that's the leadership's fault not the chef's
At this point, the monetization of games has gotten so bad nowadays that they're not only competing for our time grinding these limited time passes but also our money for overpriced bundles and other stuff that barely affects the experience yet costs upwards of 20 dollars. Remember when we got a skin for all weapons in CoD for 2 dollars each? Those were the golden days.
It’s funny how a game like this tells the audience that it’s not for “straight folks” and “if you don’t like it don’t play it, it’s not for you.” And we are to just accept that. But when other games try not to have this woke agenda shoved in, all of a sudden it’s the games fault. And you cannot tell those people to just go away if they don’t like it. No, their opinion MUST be implemented otherwise you’re a bigot.
Do people remember lawbreakers? Released 7 years ago, had generally favourable reviews by critics and it looked like pretty fun gameplay... That reached 3k concurrent players long before its full launch, 7.5k peak just a few months before the full launch. It then launched, reached 3000 players, then 1000 a month after and 400 a month after that. A game with FAVOURABLE reviews. It didn't last long, even after several free weekends according to steam DB. Just a glimpse into this game's future (except lawbreakers peaked with over 3x this game's peak player count).
It’s funny because “DEI Overwatch” is just Overwatch. The difference is they actually have talented designers that make appealing characters to look at.
All these "new" games coming out, and the only one any real gamer is waiting for is Wukong... A game that you only pay for once and you get everything... Take note devs..
Yong is never going to criticize DEI because that's the only reason he keeps getting voice acting gigs. lol. People like (pre-off the deep end) Jim Stirling were saying like 6-7 years ago that live services were unsustainable . People only have so much time, and there's only so many pay piggies out there, that it's impossible to support that many games. The industry is still chasing that golden goose, even though the goose is cooked and Christmas is long over, because they don't know what else to do. I'll also say as a former PlayStation fan that Sony is a notorious copycat, and has been for a long time. When Smash Bros. got real popular, they came out with PlayStation All-Stars. Remember PlayStation All-Stars? Nobody does, because gameplay sucked and it had very little content compared to Smash.
A game nobody asked for, made for an audience that does not exist, created by a committee that just ticks boxes, in a genre that nobody has cared about in 10 years. Real mystery why this game failed.
10 years ago they would've made a moba, 5 years ago it would've been a battle Royale , 15 years ago it would've been a single player shooter

Yes👍🙌

Nah terrible argument. Most characters are based on real people.
This is entirely women not liking how they are ugly and other women look better.

I personally don't mind the so called "ugly" characters, they have a more grungy aesthetic, if anything.
Anyways, most games have a mixed roster both of hot & ugly characters.
e: The Forever Winter, is an upcoming game that perfectly matches the "ugly" character aesthetic, which looks like fun to play.
so you wont play left 4 dead, gta, etc?

The good times might be back on the rise.
they weren't even originally insults with my friend group, we dont even know where the trend of cancelling people for saying them came from lol. if its coming back, i see no issue with it, imo people shouldn't have given them so much power in the first place. especially gay, i always thought it was weird people disliked that but are fine with calling themselves queer, a word that was an actual insult and not just used for childish jokes..
I never stopped 😂
i think its because youtuber have more freedom and have easier time to get away with it, they would get "cancel" but that just it, it just gonna be a bunch of vocal minority on twitter getting mad, while the youtuber themselves have a little more publicity from the "drama"
like Asmon for example, people getting mad with him every week, but he still doing fine as always
but imagine saying those word when you are an employee of those woke companies like Disney, you could have your salary reduced or worst, be fired
That just means that the Zoomers aren't as braindead as we figured they were. Which is nice to see. 👌

Like there's no super cool looking/badass space assassin or a space super soldier/merc something like Boba Fett or whatever
This game was inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy right? Give me something like a cyborg talking raccoon that dual wields AK47s, give me a super buff alien that eats every single bullet and shits out damage, give me a robot that flies around and carpet bombs the battlefield
Why the fuck would I wanna play as an old lady????????
Moving to extremes, associating good looks with sexuality.
@@NeFlorence There is a super-buff alien. Big blue and red dude.
Junkrat and Roadhog from OW are the 2 most relevant ones that come to mind.
It's too close to real life haha
We can pin it down to good character design. In this sense, diversity of body types is a good thing. Fundamentally, it is just down to good character design, the theme of the character and whether the character has some sort of coolness factor. It's good to have a mix of attractive and non-attractive characters in a hero shooter, but just make sure they are appealing in some way.
It's brilliant to charge 40$ for a game you can't give away free in beta.

@@Desmond-Dark _What makes this game "DEI"?_
How about pronouns in characters bios.
@@Desmond-Dark
Diversity and Inclusion is a religion - so it is super easy to tell.
1 - Only ugly & diverse bodies, with NO attractive women or white CIS men.
2 - Pronouns in the bio of characters.
3 - Devs talk about "modern audience".
4 - Sexuality is seen/used as a personality trait, (like generous and heroic).
It is of paramount importance to understand - that being against DEI, doesn't mean "being against women/ or race being present in a game". It's about not wanting to be PREACHED at by these insane fanatics. It's about not wanting to pay their wages.
Modern audience, where y'all at?

I dont know how these big game studios dont have a legit consultant who is an actual gamer to tell them , "this aint it".
Anyone of us could have told sony that the whole hero arena shooter thing is not the biggest deal right now and putting a $40 price tag on one is surely suicide.
In almost every regard Concord would have been better off being a semi to full open world first person guardian of the galaxy esque space RPG/fps game. The multiplayer could have been a included feature like older game titles, good to see the new Warhammer game went that route.
@V-e6b Oloribu omo ofo
Because they're too busy hiring bad consultants who tell them "Yeah, do it, this is the hot item right now!"
They had a bunch of those guys, but the industry chased them off.
I dont think R34 animotors will be interested in this. So it will definitely flop.. 😂
Why do they keep making games where I'm required to have a PlayStation account to buy a $40 game that I can't even try before I Buy?
I'm nearly 32. I learned my lesson of voting with my wallet. I'm the case of F2P games, I'll vote with my time. 0 minutes in-game. There you go. That's what I think of all these live service games. Destiny 1 and CoD were enough. I gave those up and now enjoy the slow paced Need for Speed seasons. Even BF 2042 since it was free and I started maybe a few months ago.
I would imagine the default character models are intentionally bland to sell skins, which is just hilarious hubris on Sony’s part.

I disagree with that BS call on people pre-ordering. Even if my buddy told me that a game is good I still wouldn't pre-order it. That's just the world we live in these days.
The problem is that game developers should create games with ideas and passion. But instead they create "products"

@@razercleriyou8554 What's interesting is that we didn't even know that a new TM game was in the works until it was announced it was cancelled.

Do people remember lawbreakers? Released 7 years ago, had generally favourable reviews by critics and it looked like pretty fun gameplay...
