In the end the director decided this was better than what was planned so they literally finished filming on day 1.
Now of course if we talk about vocal skills ONLY, there are many out there who can sing better than GD. What makes him special is his voice and how he sings it, so raw and so emotional, and as you said, expressive. And I feel like musically, what matters the most is how a song and a voice can reach someone's heart, and GD has mastered the art. Can't wait for his come back!!
