You don't have to like GD or his music, but you can't deny this man is a hustler. He worked his a** off to be where he is today. GD is one of the most impactful influences in Korean music, not just KPOP, and that's a fact.
I knew GD was a hard worker, but this video opened my eyes to JUST how much he’s gone through. He’s truly one of the most creative, passionate, hard working artists of this century. Hes a real life super hero for going through so much bad and coming out better than ever. Whatever GD does, he’s already solidified himself and one of the greats. I am Korean. GD was the most genius in Kpop history, the most colorful, and influenced Koreans the most. There is no one in Korea who can replace him. GD's influence on K-pop was enormous. After Big Bang, there was a junior idol rapper position, and an idol group that made their own songs. The k-pop idol light stick was first made by G-Dragon, and all men's fashion followed GD, and it was said that Korean fashion stopped after GD joined the army. He was always lonely and was cursed at at a young age. But Korea still needs his talent. I hope he can control his wounds and release the album again.
There should be LAW implement in K to stopped all these toxic peoples criticising ppls as they like. They are gossips everywhere for famous ppls but I think K is the worst. We are already living in 2022 yet we still see ppl committed suicide bcos of public view. To me small minded peoples are like parasites!!! Gd literally carried his Band and the company all by himself. He deserves all the love, support and respect. Love you Gd and Jiyong. Also the Knetizens have not changed one bit to this day. Attacking idols and pushing them to the edge where they cannot turn back to nobody and still these haters wouldn't stop until the idol at last gives in and ends their live. It feels like the favourite thing that these people love to do is to attack idols and any other people. It bothers me so much that they are THAT crowded. GD is just trying to make people have fun. He isn't just an idol, but also a litteral ARTİST who puts a lot of thoughts and efforts to his work. There are people who attack idols and singers like that. Some artists like Avici commited suicide cause they couldn't handle this critique. The Kpop idol Goo-Hara also did the same thing for probably a similar reason (Idk much about her story) But lets not forget that GD and Bigbang has a whole real fanbase who supports them at any time. Every idol has one. Together, we can be stronger than these haters. I think we already are.

I am REALLY not a person who cries like really never but those last minutes brought tears to my eyes. You said it all, we want him back but more importantly we want him happy. I went to see him live in Berlin in 2017 and he was incredibly amazing but he seemed very sad too, and even though it was one of the best days of my life, I still felt deeply sorry and sad for him. His album Kwon Jiyong is his attempts to rediscover and introduce Kwon Jiyong, his real self, to the world. Also in the song "Superstar" he mentions that he got everything now -everything that he only dreams of before - but it is still lonely at the top. I suggest you watch his documentary Kwon Jiyong. Having their status and fame makes it harder to trust people...that's why he is more comfortable with people who have been there with them since the beginning -their stylist GeeUn, their hairstylist Taehyun, their choreographer, etc. His bubbly, childlike personality surfaces when he is with them. Also he feels the public scrutiny that's why in the documentary he talks about building a house where he can be secluded something like that. I do feel the same way as the creator of this video...as much as I want BigBang to keep making and releasing music, I feel like it is a selfish wish. I am happy that they get to live a more normal life now and just hope that they can share the music they create to us if they want to.

I went to his concert MOTTE in Toronto and he seemed depressed too, it was very surreal but also very real. It was a weird feeling to jam to his songs while he didn't seem happy, hope he finds happiness someday.

He has said repeatedly that what he wants of his legacy is to leave something behind for the younger generations to build upon. His country will celebrate him, drop him again, then celebrate him again like a vicious cycle controlling relationship. Despite that, he will always love & have the biggest pride for his country even if they are not kind to him. He always made sure no matter how much he experiment with music, he doesn’t lose who he is as a Korean artist. This is why they are one of the few boy groups whose music is truly loved by the general pubic as proven by all their comebacks including 2022 Still Life. The love hate relationship Korea has with them needs to be studied. For now all I wish for him and the boys is his happiness and peace whether or not he makes new music. At the age of 25, I had the opportunity to know Bigbang and GDragon, and their concert was my first ever. Looking back, I can hardly believe how fanatical I was about them. At that time, Bigbang and GD gave me a great deal of strength. As I grew older, I lost interest in being a fan. Today, I stumbled upon a video and it made me feel sad. Many people say he is fortunate, but maybe he is not. He stands on stage to receive the adoration of fans, but he is also swallowed up by immense loneliness. I hope that in the future, he can live the life he desires, do the things he wants to do, and find a soulmate who understands him.
All of these fame and success were rooted from a kid who only dreamed to perform on stage. Many of today's aspiring artists set their eyes on fame without preparing themselves for the journey in between. Talent can only get you so far but his work ethic got him everywhere he wanted. A true inspiration to anyone who aspires to be better. Sometimes hard work isn't enough, but the man Kwon Ji Yong showed grit.

Great guide! There's many people who don't understand how much G-Dragon (and his members) going so much through. He was always different than other people. Korea has a very toxic culture. From toxic beauty standards to toxic work culture to spewing toxic insults in video games, the list goes on. Korea overworks and overstress their people and even heavily stigmatize mental health issues. They have the 4th highest suicide rate in the world. The culture itself breeds narcissism, because they try to raise everyone to be as superficial and judgmental as possible. If GD wants to get better, I think he has a higher chance of recovering from depression and being overworked if he leaves South Korea and all the narcissistic netizens behind. Bigbang and GD are my youth, and my present there wasn't even one day I never supported GD. I went to his last kwon Ji Young concert, and cried when he was giving his speech hearing how hurt and lonely he is. But one made me more cry, at the end when he left us all, he said to us "you are not alone." He has such a pure heart and I wish he knows that he is not alone too.

The very first time I heard about GDRAGON’s name was during year 2013, I knew TOP’s first before Ji. I don’t know anything about him only the fact that he’s really famous. His name has a great and powerful impact, I respect him from the beginning eventhough I don’t know anything much about him. I just give him my Highest Respect. Then during 2015-2016 when I became a Fan of my other stan group ( EXO ), I listened to BIGBANG songs. I started checking the FIVE members only that time I found out that GDRAGON was a member and leader of BIGBANG. I have a huge interest about Jiyong not because of his Fame but because of the songs that he wrote. I really admires his gift of songwriting, that’s when I found out many things about him. That his life, even though he’s really famous, always in the spotlight, many people knows him and BIGBANG. Despite all of this, behind the camera, behind the light, He is lonely. I felt really sad especially when other people says lots of negative things against him. Like yeah, you just know GDRAGON’s name but you don’t really know anything about him, about his life, about his pasts. He attained the level of success because he is hardworking, he has a dream to pursue and he never stop working, he never stop dreaming all his life. The success that he has right now, all of this achievements, that’s from his Sweat and Tears. He deserves that kind of success. And the fact that he helped other young Artists, he inspired them to follow their dreams and become successful too. Despite his fame, He remains so Respectful and Humble towards his Seniors and even to his Hoobae’s. He is well known for his 90 degree bow. Really, I didn’t find anyone like Jiyong. I'm not really a kpop fan, I kinda liked BTS back then but when I first heard BigBang I was really shocked and I really liked GD I dunno but his voice and music was incredibly amazing. Untitled is my fav till this moment, he is a part of my life that'd always be remembered. I hope him the best of the world, he is a human who deserves a life of his dreams
Honestly in the past i tried to find out more about gd aside from the interviews and reality shows- since i always felt like he was playing a role on the screen and not really being himself, but i couldn't find anything because i dont know Korean. Something about his aura or smth really made me adore him, to me he seemed like a perfect person w almost no hardships in life. So this video really helped me understand him better and see clearer. Now i appreciate him even more that i did before (and thats pretty hard lol). Anyways i hope he is better now mentally and has learned to rest without feeling guilty and enjoy his art without the need of approval from others. Every now and then i remember Jonghyun (Shinee) and wonder how many others feel the same as he did, but are good at hiding it? I truly hope that (if those people exist) they will find balance in life and things that make them feel content if not happy. As a conclusion- thank you for this video, it was informative and impactful and brought some light to an important subject. You are appreciated!
I really appreciate this man's hard work.. as an audience we only see the fame of the idol but we don't know the hardwork, criticism, heartbreaks , loneliness, depression and many more things. Yes they get money and attention but as a human being they are all alone🥺🥺🥺.

I was so obsessed when I first discovered him 8 years ago. His music and looks and mannerisms and personality were just everything to the child me, I ate up every single media that I could find of him and honestly idolized him. Of course as I got older I started to see him as more human but I realize after watching this video that I still had him on a pedestal, and that I didn't know even a fraction of the pain he has endured and is probably still enduring. I probably still don't even know. I just hope he's resting now, and doing things for himself. Creating music and other art to please no one but himself. I agree that even if it means I can't see him shine anymore, I hope he's happy. The past is still something to cherish. Here's to hoping that Kwon Ji Young is no longer lonely, is surrounded by love and community, and is creating for his own happiness.

I was a total die hard fan of Big Bang in my 20s. Life and adulthood got in the way so I’m no longer as fanatical… but this video just took me back to that time. GD is an amazing person and I hope he’s doing okay. One of the clips I remember seeing is him talking about how grateful he was for Taeyang as a friend, breaking down in tears as he tried to get the words out. I also loved the moments where he would burst out laughing because when he laughed his face would light up. Paired with all the songs he’s written, it struck me that this was an individual with a lot of emotions swirling inside of him, and he’s just trying to get through life like any of us. I really hope for his happiness and I hope he lives a long fulfilling life.
For someone being BigBang fan since 6 years old (when I first heard about Haru Haru). I’ve been cry, laugh, heartbroken, proud, and rest assured till now. We VIP know about the stress and depression they been through.
Four years ago, my dream was to see GD perform. I was thrilled when he announced his tour would go to Miami. I did not care how far I had to drive as long as I could watch him sing and dance. I was shocked. He had lost so much weight. His entire "being" was sadness. Watching him on stage I could actually "feel" it. I was stunned. I cried for him. As he sang he visibly showed how much pain he was in. I prayed that things would become more "normal" for him in the service. I actually wished he would give it all up and go into the fashion game he loved. The pressure, loneliness and depression have cost too many lives. I am praying he finds love, peace and happiness.
I'm speechless. I've been a fan of his and BigBang's music for a long time, I've always considered him one of a kind, a true music genius. He's the most outstanding idol I've ever seen, and to be able to see all the things he's been through is just... heartbreaking. How I wish things would've been different, that he didn't suffered this much, but then I think that probably all this made him the man he is right now. I don't think I'll ever stop admiring him not only for this amazing talent, but also for the way he carried out his career despite all the criticism he got. He's just amazing, he will never stop amazing me. I just hope that now he can find the peace he needs, and if there's a time he wants to gift us with more music, I'll be here excitedly waiting for him. Thank you very much for this documentary. I am Korean. GD was the most genius in Kpop history, the most colorful, and influenced Koreans the most. There is no one in Korea who can replace him. GD's influence on K-pop was enormous. After Big Bang, there was a junior idol rapper position, and an idol group that made their own songs. The k-pop idol light stick was first made by G-Dragon, and all men's fashion followed GD, and it was said that Korean fashion stopped after GD joined the army. He was always lonely and was cursed at at a young age. But Korea still needs his talent. I hope he can control his wounds and release the album again.

I am REALLY not a person who cries like really never but those last minutes brought tears to my eyes. You said it all, we want him back but more importantly we want him happy. I went to see him live in Berlin in 2017 and he was incredibly amazing but he seemed very sad too, and even though it was one of the best days of my life, I still felt deeply sorry and sad for him. @@rainydays7027 I think he somehow lost himself because of his GD persona but being "the GDragon" can be tiring. His album Kwon Jiyong is his attempts to rediscover and introduce Kwon Jiyong, his real self, to the world.
Also in the song "Superstar" he mentions that he got everything now -everything that he only dreams of before - but it is still lonely at the top.
I suggest you watch his documentary Kwon Jiyong. Having their status and fame makes it harder to trust people...that's why he is more comfortable with people who have been there with them since the beginning -their stylist GeeUn, their hairstylist Taehyun, their choreographer, etc. His bubbly, childlike personality surfaces when he is with them. Also he feels the public scrutiny that's why in the documentary he talks about building a house where he can be secluded something like that.
I do feel the same way as the creator of this video...as much as I want BigBang to keep making and releasing music, I feel like it is a selfish wish. I am happy that they get to live a more normal life now and just hope that they can share the music they create to us if they want to.

At the age of 25, I had the opportunity to know Bigbang and GDragon, and their concert was my first ever. Looking back, I can hardly believe how fanatical I was about them. At that time, Bigbang and GD gave me a great deal of strength. As I grew older, I lost interest in being a fan. Today, I stumbled upon a video and it made me feel sad. Many people say he is fortunate, but maybe he is not. He stands on stage to receive the adoration of fans, but he is also swallowed up by immense loneliness. I hope that in the future, he can live the life he desires, do the things he wants to do, and find a soulmate who understands him.
All of these fame and success were rooted from a kid who only dreamed to perform on stage. Many of today's aspiring artists set their eyes on fame without preparing themselves for the journey in between. Talent can only get you so far but his work ethic got him everywhere he wanted. A true inspiration to anyone who aspires to be better. Sometimes hard work isn't enough, but the man Kwon Ji Yong showed grit.

Great guide! There's many people who don't understand how much G-Dragon (and his members) going so much through. He was always different than other people. I understand why he said he feels so lonely. Even, if he has a many girlfriends. He doesn't have a soulmate and want to share his life to with someone who really understand him. Korea has a very toxic culture. From toxic beauty standards to toxic work culture to spewing toxic insults in video games, the list goes on. Korea overworks and overstress their people and even heavily stigmatize mental health issues. They have the 4th highest suicide rate in the world. The culture itself breeds narcissism, because they try to raise everyone to be as superficial and judgmental as possible. If GD wants to get better, I think he has a higher chance of recovering from depression and being overworked if he leaves South Korea and all the narcissistic netizens behind. Because those awful netizens will NEVER change. But ofc the choice is his. I truly hope he is happy in whatever he decides to do.

Bigbang and GD are my youth, and my present there wasn't even one day I never supported GD. I went to his last kwon Ji Young concert, and cried when he was giving his speech hearing how hurt and lonely he is. But one made me more cry, at the end when he left us all, he said to us "you are not alone." He has such a pure heart and I wish he knows that he is not alone too.

The very first time I heard about GDRAGON’s name was during year 2013, I knew TOP’s first before Ji. I don’t know anything about him only the fact that he’s really famous. His name has a great and powerful impact, I respect him from the beginning eventhough I don’t know anything much about him. I just give him my Highest Respect. Then during 2015-2016 when I became a Fan of my other stan group ( EXO ), I listened to BIGBANG songs. I started checking the FIVE members only that time I found out that GDRAGON was a member and leader of BIGBANG. I have a huge interest about Jiyong not because of his Fame but because of the songs that he wrote. I really admires his gift of songwriting, that’s when I found out many things about him. That his life, even though he’s really famous, always in the spotlight, many people knows him and BIGBANG.
Despite all of this, behind the camera, behind the light, He is lonely. I felt really sad especially when other people says lots of negative things against him. Like yeah, you just know GDRAGON’s name but you don’t really know anything about him, about his life, about his pasts. He attained the level of success because he is hardworking, he has a dream to pursue and he never stop working, he never stop dreaming all his life. The success that he has right now, all of this achievements, that’s from his Sweat and Tears. He deserves that kind of success. And the fact that he helped other young Artists, he inspired them to follow their dreams and become successful too. Despite his fame, He remains so Respectful and Humble towards his Seniors and even to his Hoobae’s. He is well known for his 90 degree bow. Really, I didn’t find anyone like Jiyong. A True Leader by heart, his fighting spirit, his mindset, his strong characteristics, his personality, he is a Music Genius. I admire him so much and I have this kind of High Respect towards Jiyong all the time, he is really indeed a Superstar! He is super humble and respectful, he is grounded, he knows how to appreciate and be grateful at all times. Jiyong is really an epitome of a real Superstar, an Outstanding Artist, a Legend, no one will ever forget his name.
Being a Superstar means you have to carry Humility within yourself, that’s when you can call yourself a Real Superstar. And Jiyong really has that kind of attitude. I wish that others will get to know him and starts respecting him not just an Artist but as a Human Being. After all, like us, Jiyong also deserves to be Happy. He’s just a Human being after all. He have done too much in Kpop, world of fashion, he started many trends, contributed many in Kpop. I'm not really a kpop fan, I kinda liked BTS back then but when I first heard BigBang I was really shocked and I really liked GD I dunno but his voice and music was incredibly amazing. Untitled is my fav till this moment, he is a part of my life that'd always be remembered. I hope him the best of the world, he is a human who deserves a life of his dreams
Honestly in the past i tried to find out more about gd aside from the interviews and reality shows- since i always felt like he was playing a role on the screen and not really being himself, but i couldn't find anything because i dont know Korean. Something about his aura or smth really made me adore him, to me he seemed like a perfect person w almost no hardships in life. So this video really helped me understand him better and see clearer. Now i appreciate him even more that i did before (and thats pretty hard lol). Anyways i hope he is better now mentally and has learned to rest without feeling guilty and enjoy his art without the need of approval from others. Every now and then i remember Jonghyun (Shinee) and wonder how many others feel the same as he did, but are good at hiding it? I truly hope that (if those people exist) they will find balance in life and things that make them feel content if not happy. In regards to stage performance, many great international artists continue their career into their 50s, GDragon is only in his 30s he is still so young, with all his hardwork, experiences, creativity that build up his current achievements n success, it would be a great pity if he choose to leave the stage n all his beloved fans, unless he no longer loves the stage n feels happier doing other things, else I really hope he can continue his stage journey for a long time, I hope he knows he has huge fan base around the World who loves n misses him very much n wish to often see him on stage or in TV shows. N very importantly I hope he takes good care of himself, have good diet, take his supplements, rest well n smoke less. It aches n worries fans to see him frail. He's such a humble good boy who has contributed so much to the Kpop industry n suffered so much along the way, may the Divine bless n shelter him with great loves, joy n protection in his life! I watched the last part of the video in tears. You are so right. We miss GD and BigBang. We want a new album, concerts in Europe but above all we want them all to feel good and be happy. Thank you GD and BigBang for all the joy you have given us.

I was so obsessed when I first discovered him 8 years ago. His music and looks and mannerisms and personality were just everything to the child me, I ate up every single media that I could find of him and honestly idolized him. Of course as I got older I started to see him as more human but I realize after watching this video that I still had him on a pedestal, and that I didn't know even a fraction of the pain he has endured and is probably still enduring. I probably still don't even know. I just hope he's resting now, and doing things for himself. Creating music and other art to please no one but himself. I agree that even if it means I can't see him shine anymore, I hope he's happy. The past is still something to cherish.
Here's to hoping that Kwon Ji Young is no longer lonely, is surrounded by love and community, and is creating for his own happiness.

I was a total die hard fan of Big Bang in my 20s. Life and adulthood got in the way so I’m no longer as fanatical… but this video just took me back to that time. GD is an amazing person and I hope he’s doing okay. One of the clips I remember seeing is him talking about how grateful he was for Taeyang as a friend, breaking down in tears as he tried to get the words out. I also loved the moments where he would burst out laughing because when he laughed his face would light up. Paired with all the songs he’s written, it struck me that this was an individual with a lot of emotions swirling inside of him, and he’s just trying to get through life like any of us.
I really hope for his happiness and I hope he lives a long fulfilling life.
For someone being BigBang fan since 6 years old (when I first heard about Haru Haru). I’ve been cry, laugh, heartbroken, proud, and rest assured till now. We VIP know about the stress and depression they been through.

Four years ago, my dream was to see GD perform. I was thrilled when he announced his tour would go to Miami. I did not care how far I had to drive as long as I could watch him sing and dance. I was shocked. He had lost so much weight. His entire "being" was sadness. Watching him on stage I could actually "feel" it. I was stunned. I cried for him. As he sang he visibly showed how much pain he was in. I prayed that things would become more "normal" for him in the service. I actually wished he would give it all up and go into the fashion game he loved. The pressure, loneliness and depression have cost too many lives. I am praying he finds love, peace and happiness.
I'm speechless. I've been a fan of his and BigBang's music for a long time, I've always considered him one of a kind, a true music genius. He's the most outstanding idol I've ever seen, and to be able to see all the things he's been through is just... heartbreaking. How I wish things would've been different, that he didn't suffered this much, but then I think that probably all this made him the man he is right now. I don't think I'll ever stop admiring him not only for this amazing talent, but also for the way he carried out his career despite all the criticism he got. He's just amazing, he will never stop amazing me. I just hope that now he can find the peace he needs, and if there's a time he wants to gift us with more music, I'll be here excitedly waiting for him.
