About four months ago, I bought the CD shown as it contained two Bantock works I was eager to hear. I wasn't at all familiar with Christopher Wilson but this composition proved to be a more than pleasant surprise, a worthy addition to the canon of string music. Enterprising CPO release by Douglas Bostock who, yet again, proves he's not afraid to explore the less familiar.
My British music collection spanning Tallis to Maxwell Davies seemed fairly catholic until you uploaded this... I thought I knew 'em all, but Rodders surprises once more. :-)
So this was one of the other pieces in the Volume II Bostock series. Your posting if the Scenesfrom the Scottish Highlands encourage me to buy all three volumes of the British Music for Strings series. The third in the series is of female composers and is well worth checking out :)

By ruddy Jove ! Rather jolly !
The British and the string orchestra: why is it such a terrific combination? A very fresh-sounding piece!

Wow! Did not expect this to be as good as Tchaikovsky or Dvorak Serenades!🎻🎵🎻🎶

I've just played this through twice, something I virtually never do. So enjoyable.
Lovely, and appropriate at this moment in U.K. Thanks.
So fine; so british... thumbs up. Hats off.
