Why did he try to destroy the ferrotaxis rather than let Optimus have it? Megatron loves only himself, and Cybertron only matters to him if he can control it. Otherwise he would try to destroy it to deny it to others.

“Cybertron is the center of my universe! HOW IS IT NOT AT THE HEART OF YOURS!?” Wow... just wow.... that got me... *- The road to hell is paved with good intentions (Samuel Johnson, 1775)*
The quote is originally from St Bernard Of Clairveaux about why he had peter abelard Excommunicated (abelard d*ed of depression and starvation shortly after). St Bernard was petitioned why when “abelard such good intentions.” a few years later the albegenesians (think the worst parts of the sith but MUCH worse and real) were formed from “liberal” Priests who followed abelard.
@@JPX7NGD Wow good lord... "The physical world is evil and made by Satan." is pretty bloody crazy. Because that is straight up Nihilism in practice. No wonder the quote came from that.
Cybertron is the center of *my* universe! How is not at the *heart* of yours!? I like this line because for Megatron all he cares about is seeing his home restored no matter the cost for him Cybertron is everything. How could Prime not put his home over humans? Cybertron is about *all* life, destruction to keep Cybertron of Life Support there must be another way! And Optimus ultimately points out the problem of Megatrons plan. Cybertron wouldn't fully be restored it would just be on life support for who knows how long before it just dies again. He wants to find a TRUE way to restore cybertron not just a temporary solution.
I also like how you can see Megatron actually consider giving in. It's only a moment, but you'd think if he was completely certain of his plans he'd be acting cocky, but instead he comes across more desperate than just a mustache twirling villain. Ultimate he and Optimus know they both want the same thing, they just see it differently.
I like this a lot because it shows you don't need your villain to be sympathetic to be interesting, you can sometimes just have their motivation seem good, but be horribly skewed in some way, like Megatron. This is one of the best versions of the "fighting for the same thing" they talk about in some of the series.
Another detail is the other quote here: 4:28 "Flesh isn't life! Servos, Gyros and Fuel! This is where Life comes from!" Let's face it, we as humans consider machines "Disposable", and that if someone were to consider a machine "alive", a majority of humans would freak out and say "It's not life", and make a similar claim as Megatron, only replacing "Servos, Gyros and Fuel" with "Muscles, Bones and Blood!" as an inverse. It also comes off as Megatron getting Desperate, trying to convince Prime to restore their homeworld... Which makes sense when you consider that Cybertron to them, is what Earth is to us. We'd consider Cybertron a cool looking world, a fascinating Planet to observe and Record, but a majority of Humans wouldn't want to live there for more than half our lives... And the same applies to the Cybertronians. While Prime does want to make peace with the Humans, he also carries this tone that "We're getting off this Rock as soon as we can restore our home".
@@Victor-056 in this era many won't mindless be terrified of robots/androids acting like they are sentient it will be cool if you think in another and different perceptive Organisms are also considered to be machines to nature's business like blood being organic fuel or energon Veins as circuits Organs has the motors of the solid body Some have the lack of personality and emotions Plants using animals and their corpses for food as them use plants for tools like ants and homosapians And yeah you are right the part with cybertron being amazing and megatron loving it but prime doesn't really showed that he cares much about cybertron/ primus than megatron He is a simp to life not to celestial mass objects so he will kinda stay that rock and never leave it

I love Optimus prime, but I understand Megatron. I respect them both, not just for their ability to change and adapt, but also because they build off of one another. These two have always been more than meets the eye.
I love how they made megaton not see organic life as life because its not mechanical. It's just the perfect reversal of the sentient machine life or not trope. It makes perfect sense for his character and motivations
Interesting, in the IDW comics, all it took to get Soundwave to surrender was to show him that humans have electrical impulse driven nervous systems, making them ultimately just wetter versions of cybertronic life.
The lyrics of "It has to be this Way" suit the Optimus/Megatron dynamic so well. Optimus was the unite all Transformers, amongst the barren wasted land that is Cybertron. Megatron wants only the glory of the Decepticons. With the blood-stained sands now appearant to Optimus he is sure of only one thing: It has the be this way!
Optimus: "Hey Megatron your decepticon glory days are over. Give me the Ferrotaxis." Megatron: "If you want it you'll have to take me down to get it, but you already knew that."
Actually Optimus plays a lot more like Bayonetta, some of the features in the game are similar to Witch time in Bayonetta. The Legend of Korra game though felt like Revengeance due to the parry system
4:12 I know it’s been said before but that’s a powerful line coming from Megatron. For a moment you think, “Wow, perhaps there is more to this villain than meets the eye.” Before you remember the steps he’s taking to fulfill his idea of duty for his ‘Center of The Universe’.
It really makes the second verse of the music fit even more as well. Optimus followed his path, Megatron followed his wrath, but they both had the same love for their home, differing simply on how much each would willingly sacrifice to see it restored
5:27 The Test of Strength ending here is the most hype raising, teeth grinding, pulse pounding moment in video games that I’ve experienced in the past couple years. Also, when searching up It Has To Be This Way, Senator Megatron is the 3rd result. And for good reason.

Megatron, even being someone that has a evil heart and desires, in the end, wants the best for Cybertron, while Optimus, for the sake of the Earthlings, has to became the enemy of his own planet "When our guard is down I think we'll both agree that Violence breeds Violence, but in the end It has to be this way!" Even though they don't want the collateral damage, it has to be the way it has to "I carved my own path, You followed your wrath, but maybe we're both the same" While Optimus carved his own path, Megatron followed his own evil desires, ending in the same objectives, but with different worlds "The world has turn, so many have burn, but nobody is to blame" This one's deep The devastation that the Autobot-Decepticon war did both in the Earth and in Cybertron did took some important number of lifes, but who really has the fault of that? Optimus wanted to protect the Earthlings, plane where he saw potential and good within it, and Megatron, who wants to revive Cybertron, planet that died by his own fault. Though, both of them doesn't really have the fault, so who was the REAL guilty? "Yet staring across this barren, wasted land, I think new life will be born beneath this blood-stained sand!" However, in this line, Optimus sees potential, and this that in the end, there's hope both for humanity and even for Cybertron and it's creatures shout this song matches well after all...

I haven't played this game in years, but looking back on this gameplay has shown me something I didn't realize. They went to good effort to integrate both robot and alt mode into combat, and the transformation attacks are something so unique to transformers. I might get heat for this, but that is one thing that this game did better than the high moon studio games. In those games the alt mode was more of a mobility option than a combat option, but here in devastation, it is both.

They want the same thing, but they had different approach to how peace should be attained. Optimus wants peace without war and living as equals. Megatron wants peace through tyranny. In the Japanese G1 continuity, Megatron and Optimus found the peace they sought for, but Megatron ends up starting a war that was outside his power (Kiloton killed by humans after being manipulated by Starscream for example), and Optimus knew war was the one thing they didn't want, but had to go through with it. megatron did nothing wrong and optimus is a race traitor cuck
This is where Life comes from!"
Let's face it, we as humans consider machines "Disposable", and that if someone were to consider a machine "alive", a majority of humans would freak out and say "It's not life", and make a similar claim as Megatron, only replacing "Servos, Gyros and Fuel" with "Muscles, Bones and Blood!" as an inverse.
@@Victor-056 in this era many won't mindless be terrified of robots/androids acting like they are sentient it will be cool

Organisms are also considered to be machines to nature's business like blood being organic fuel or energon
Veins as circuits
Organs has the motors of the solid body
Some have the lack of personality and emotions
Plants using animals and their corpses for food as them use plants for tools like ants and homosapians
And yeah you are right the part with cybertron being amazing and megatron loving it but prime doesn't really showed that he cares much about cybertron/ primus than megatron
He is a simp to life not to celestial mass objects so he will kinda stay that rock and never leave it
@@Victor-056 yes ,the mood of Prime putting human life over cybertronians justifiably pissed off Megatron ,,,plus the banter about "fleshlings" are not life" , reminds me of a StarTrek TNG episode where Data was willing to risk Captain Picard's very life to prove the "Exocomps", were living machines ,,, your comment was great , loved it ,,🎄👍

Interesting, in the IDW comics, all it took to get Soundwave to surrender was to show him that humans have electrical impulse driven nervous systems, making them ultimately just wetter versions of cybertronic life.
Silicon is almost as good as carbon for forming super-complex molecules. The Transformers could be silicon-based life.
The lyrics of "It has to be this Way" suit the Optimus/Megatron dynamic so well. Optimus was the unite all Transformers, amongst the barren wasted land that is Cybertron. Megatron wants only the glory of the Decepticons.

The devastation that the Autobot-Decepticon war did both in the Earth and in Cybertron did took some important number of lifes, but who really has the fault of that? Optimus wanted to protect the Earthlings, plane where he saw potential and good within it, and Megatron, who wants to revive Cybertron, planet that died by his own fault. Though, both of them doesn't really have the fault, so who was the REAL guilty?
