Nice review. I kind of hate the spacebar implementation on all Alice layouts. I always feel like either left handers or right handers get screwed on each one. I appreciate you taking the time to point out your own experience with that. Thanks.

I primarily use the left thumb even though I’m right handed but I just don’t like the function key placement on the KC from a design standpoint, it feels like a scuffed attempt at a thumb cluster.

Was really liking what I saw about the Feker Alice 80 until I looked at the position of Ctrl/Alt/Win - using that on a Mac will be brutal, much easier and consistent to put the Win key between Ctrl and Alt. Bit of a deal breaker.

    • @comfycorner7509

I just made the spacebar on feker the win key. I'm used to using Alt a lot so the pos of that is muscle memory but I don't think I used the win key as much and moving it to the space key seems to have stuck quickly. I use multiple desktops with win+ctrl+ arrow keys and it feels like second nature now

i agree, the placement of the spacebars is crucial and for some reason they decided to put a key next to the right spacebar that i would never use but then makes this keyboard not work for me at all. my right finger would go where the fn2 key is... wtf are they thinking

Thank you. I got the Feker Alice for work and paired it with Epomaker Sea Salt Silent switches for work and love it. Now looking to swap my home board from a GMMK Pro brick to the Q10 but the pics look like the middle angles down a bit (the Q8 looked very flat), opposite of how your wrists naturally are. Have you had a chance to test the Q10 yet?

Q8 is more faithful to the original TGR Alice with the staggered/bumped position keys. Could say they are paying homage to it, but the Feker definitely looks smoother/straighter.

The center spacing in Feker is more because of the design - there elevation in the center.
For centre elevation there has to be a center line which is not touched by either half of the keyboard. In keychron, since there is not center elevation, and hence no need of central untouching line is there making it possible to keep the gap smaller. It has nothing to do with plastic or alumunium.

@@shoop9274 Obviously this is complete BS. As a programmer I for once need all keys, including the F-keys and I'm still a handful of keys short because I have keychords like "C-c v s" or "C-c v B" which is the magit keychord for staging the current hunk in a file and blaming the file in interactive mode respectively. Sure I could type it, but I use these chords so often that slapping them onto a macro button is just faster.

Funny thing, for people who use languages with special characters keychron is actually more ergonomic because if you switch your fn button with alt these special characters become way more accessible than on a standard keyboard, my wpm in my native language skyrocketed when i switched to Q8. Nevertheless feker is way better value proposition, and if not for that button placement i would pick it over keychron.

You forgot to mention that Feker also has north facing LED's for those people who like North Facing LEDs so their keycap legends illuminate better.
Yes I understand that a lot of people like south facing LEDs but there are a lot of people who like North Facing LEDs and they should know that Feker makes those types of board too. 😁👍
Also before I forget to mention it, Alice keyboards only has 1 major problem. There are no Function keys across the top row of the numbers keys.
Many people like myself would love to have function keys across the top and not having to press a special key while pressing another key at the same time just to press a function key.
(for me) thats really annoying. Im sure many others feel the same way, while also having other people who dont want them. There should be an open to have them when purchasing.
Thats the main problem I have with Alice Keyboard.
Anyways, I like FEKER best because their keyboard is more streamlined and has more features and their LEDs are brighter.
