- Hi, we’ve got a treat for you. Because we’re about to reveal the shoes that made it into our current rotations. Now if you’re a regular viewer of the channel, you’ll know that we test dozens - if not 100s - of shoes every year. So if a shoe finds its way into a Run Tester’s rotation. There’s a good chance it’s a pretty special shoe. For this video, we talk through up to three trusted shoes that we’re turning to right now to cover all our training and racing. We’ll tell you why we love them and how they suit our running, in the hope that you might find some helpful shoe recommendations that’ll match your own running needs. So let’s get into it. Here’s the best running shoes that made the Run Testers’ rotations right now.
JUMP STRAIGHT IN:
0:00 - Intro
0: 36 - Tom’s rotation
4:51 - Jane’s rotation
7:16 - Nick’s rotation
13:42 - Laura’s rotation

Finally, some of the reviewers disclosing his weight, this is so important and relevant to us viewers. Example when describing a firm ride at 70kg body weight probably means for me at 95kg its going to feel nice and soft with a little pop. Whereas when you describe a soft ride at 70kg its going to be far too soft at my weight. Would be really useful if going forward you disclosed height/weight in reviews as it really helps us viewers make more informed decisions. Cheers!
Great video! Stoked to see Jane return! Congrats on the new addition to your family!
Saucony Triumph 20, Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 - rotated for daily miles
Saucony Endorphin Elite - Marathon
Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 - 5K to Half
Saucony 🔥💪
Always like these videos showing that outside of reviews what you’re choosing to run in. Definitely going to look into the 1080s now.
Recovery/Easy - Novablast 3
Long Runs - Boston 12's
Speed Sessions - Endorphin Speed 3's
Racing - Adios Pro 3
@@justoutlaw6423 I get that the first 50km they can be firm. I found they get better with distance put into them. Aged like a fine wine for me! Everyone is different of course!
My rotation:
Triumph 20 - recovery, easy, long
Speed 3 - steady, tempo, workouts, long
Alphafly 1 - Long run workouts
Race - Alphafly 3, Vaporfly 3
Similar to me though I alternate between the triumph and the novablast for the easy days.. with so many miles in the Alpha V1's (like me) how do you compare the Alphas 3's to them other than the extra $$? Thanks for your reply in advance ✌️
Easy/Long: Cloudmonster 2
Daily Trainer: Rebel v4
Speed: Boston 12
Race: Alphafly 3
Bravo thanks for sharing your rotations.
I also appreciate your personal weight input, thats very useful data related to midsole foam experience.
Ride 17 and Novablast 4 on order to change the Nimbus 25’ for the easy and long runs.
I use the speeds 3&4 for all the rest.
Love these videos, very interesting to hear Nick is leaning towards Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris over the Alphafly 3. Interested to see what ya opt for on race day in London 😛
Love all these reviews and I’m very very much looking forward to getting the Speed 4 on my feet later this summer. I am working through a fairly large rotation, which includes the Velocity Nitro 1, Speed 2, Kinvara 12, NB More V4, NB Rebel V3, NB Propel 4 and the Saucony Tempus.
Superblast for everything 😂 and will get the Asics Metaspeed Sky or Edge for London ✌🏽
Same here 😂 superblast for everything and nimbus 25 when I want to chill with super easy/recovery miles, going to buy metaspeed sky paris for racing this year
I was surprised to not see the superblast in this video. But I guess these videos are supposed to get people pumped up about new shoes and it might not be good content if they tell people to run in an almost 2 year old shoe.
Recovery/Easy - Pegasus 37/Kinvara 13
Long Runs - Endorphin Speed 3
Speed Sessions - Endorphin Speed 3/Mach 5
Racing - Speed 3 unless I have budget for carbon plated shoes by end of this year race event
Great video everyone, love videos like this. It's always good to see what shoes you really run in, rather than just have to review! My rotation is fairly uncomplicated, I'm using the Superblast for the vast majority of my non-race runs, occasionally switched with the On Cloud Eclipse for easier runs. Streakfly for track work and short reps and then Hoka Rocket X2 or Vaporfly 2 for longer reps, shorter races. Long races (10 miles and up are the rarified atmosphere occupied by the Alphafly 3). I am still waiting for the Metaspeed Sky Paris to be available in the UK!
Race: Endorphin Pro 4
Speed: Deviate Nitro 2,
Daily: Novablast 3
Recovery: 1080v13
Trail: Merrel Peak Agility 5
would love a sky paris vs. edge paris from Nick
thank you for mentioning the hoka mach 5 👋 i love my mach 5's, they're the reason why I started getting addicted to running
You have me tempted to try the Sky Paris now over the Vaporfly. I was expecting some run testers to say they use the Superblast.
Great video thanks. My favourite shoe rotation. Race shoe asics metaspeed edge plus, training runs/ intervals/ long runs Saucony Kinvara 14 and just for long runs Asics Superblast. Don't like using any plate shoes for intervals leave the plates for races only.
Good luck in Boston and London. I am running Boston and picked up the Sky Paris
Hoka Clifton 8 for easy runs/ Hoka Mach 5 for easy runs or long runs or marathon pace workouts/ Adidas Takumi Sen 9 for intervals or tempo/ Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 or Endorphin Elite for racing
Race: Endorphin pro 3
Intervalls/speed: True Motion Solo
Long runs: Hoka Mach 5
Easy runs: Novablast 3
-New Balance SC Trainer V2: distance/ race
-Brooks Hyperion Max: speed work
-Hoka Mach 5: daily trainer
My rotation:
Recovery - nike invincible 3
Daily - saucony ride 17
Sessions - adidas takumi sen9
Race - nike vaporfly 2
Trail - novablast 3
I also have the nike dragonfly and the nike dragonfly xc for track/xc races
As a beginner
Easy - Ride 17/triumph 21
Long runs - triumph 21 or speed 3
Race - undecided. Might keep it in the family and go w the pro 3/4
Huge fan of the 1080v13's what a gem of a shoe for easy day / recovery runs, has a very good foam with some return if you press hard in it (strides etc) , had to comment on them as they were a suprise for me , I do not usually like shoes that are soft. My current rotation is New Balance 1080V13, Kinvara Pro,Saucony Speed 3, and I have a pair of elite's which I myself have only done 15 miles in (about 30 miles in total due to previous owner not getting on with them), strictly for race day.
Great review thanks :) Mike would you use the Hoka Skyward X in place of the New Balance 1080 v13?
I absolutely love the Asics sky paris it is way better than any other running shoes i have including Nike alpgafly 3 and adidas sprung 2
Wow 🤯 Nick choosing the ASICS wasn’t a move I was expecting! I have the metaspeed sky 2022 version but find it very hard compared to my beloved alphafly 1. Is the new foam softer and bouncier? or is it still closer to the earliest edition. I might consider trying them out over af3 and cielo x1! Ok nick, I think it’s time for an alphafly 3 vs metaspeed sky Paris ! 🥶🥶🥶
Saucony killing it. love the speed 4 & triumph 21
Hi…great video…just an info I need…what watch is Nick using???and also where can we get a good beginners guide to choosing Garmin watches…or if you guys can point me in the right direction…thanks
I already have the Asics Superblast and Novablast 4, but need to wait on Saucony Endorphin Speed 4, and Ride 17, then Asics Metaspeed Sky or Edge Paris.. I just need some shoes that provides long term comfort and adds speed on race day.
1 vote for saucony!
Sleeper shoe find! 😉 Just bought skechers max road 6 for 95 earth credits, super comfy.
My rotation:
1: Saucony speed 3
2: ascis novablast 4
3: Hooka mach 5
4: Hooka mach X
5: Asics metaspeed sky +
I have a 2 shoe rotation too at the moment! spot on with yours haha!
1: Saucony speed 3
2: ascis novablast 4
I am Recovery Easy & Long Superblast, Tempo / Threshold Speed 3 / Pro 3, V02 Max or GFI Reps Metaspeed Edge +.
My rotation for marathon training :
New Balance Fresh Foam More V4 - Easy
Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 - Easy and Tempo
Hoka Speedgoat 5 - Easy trail runs
Saucony Endorphin Edge 3 - Longer trail runs with marathon efforts (most of my long runs are done on the trails or the river tow path)
Nike Vaporfly 2 - Race
Just ordered my ASICS Gel Nimbus 25s and training for my first 5k at the end of July!
Nick - as a fellow heel striker... please try also the Edge Paris 🎉
My Current Rotation:
Recovery/Easy Runs/LSD: New Balance 1080v13
Tempo Shoe/Fartleks/Short Races: New Balance Rebel v4
Longer Speed Sessions: Saucony Speed v4
Race Day Shoe: ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris
Thinking of adding the rebel v3 or v4 to replace my older hoka rincons
Speed 3 for faster stuff and Novablast 4 for slower stuff. That's it. I might leave the Speed 3 for a race though. It messes with my knee for some reason. So I might add the Mach 6 or Rebel v4 to replace it.
Rebel V4 (easy, daily), Superblast (long, tempo, medium long), Takumi Sen (interval, track), endorphin elite (race)
Saucony Tempus. That’s it, that’s the rotation.
I like it too. Other than that I'm still on New Balance RC v2 for speed and races.
Because I am cheap: Saucony Axon 3/Puma Velocity Nitro 2, Hoka Mach 6, Saucony Endorphin Speed 3.
How are the Axon 3s? Im looking to get an easy day shoe, I am thinking Ride 16 but Axon seems like a cheaper alternative
@@suhaskv I love them. Just looking up the specs on the website, I see that they're lighter (243g vs 282g for the Ride 17). A bit subjectively, it feels way easier on my legs on long runs. Also subjectively, they FEEL faster - and I've definitely gone much faster in the Axons than the Rides. And the price difference is massive. I know some people find them too soft and mushy, but that doesn't particularly bother me when I'm on a long run.
I run recovery now (used to be my easy and long run) on the Axons. Super comfy and plush shoe. I now run man only in Triumph 20s but still slip into Axons when I just want a cozy ride.
@matthewcreelman1347 for the noobs like me how does that make you cheap?
@@joshuawestlund The Axon and Velocity are some of the cheapest decent shoes on the market, providing value that matches or exceeds shoes like the Nike Pegasus or Saucony Ride at literally half the price - I buy mine at less than $100 CAD, which is really good for running shoes. The Machs and Endorphin Speeds are half the price of Alphaflys or other top end shoes.
Daily - Clifton 9 / Superblast
Long - Adios Pro 3 / Superblast
Speed long - Endorphin Speed 4
Speed short - Takumi Sen 9
Race - Alphafly 3
Trail - Tecton X
daily - reebok symmetros 2
speed - rival 3/boston 11
LSD - Invicible 1
race: deviate nitro 2
Race: Vapor fly nxt%3, meta speed sky Paris
Speed: Takumi sen 10, Endorphin speed 4
Daily: Novablast 3, Rebel v4
Recovery: Asics gel Nimbus 26, Nike invincible run 3
Easy: Novablast 4
Tempo & Long: Adidas Prime X Strung 2 / New Balance SC Elite V4
Daily Trainer: Superblast
Race: Nike Alphalfy 3 / New Balance SC Elite V4 / HOKA Cielo X1
wow..lots of coincidences here so far:
- Asics SuperBlast as my Daily-All around trainer, I think they are the most versatile shoes I've ever used.
- For longer and faster days, Adidas Boston 12's are my absolute faves
- Recovery/Slow tempo: Cloudmonster AND Clifton 9's (Been running on the Monsters the longest, by far...they were my first love!)
- Travel and Run (my job requires a LOT of traveling and I cannot take 2 pairs of shoes on trips): ON CloudSurfers (comfy, easy runs and super lightweight)
Question for you guys: I live and run in a higher altitude (GDL MX, 1520m asl) and the Cloudsurfers run VERY soft...but take them to sea level or similar and they run SO MUCH better, you can feel it on your arch and calves specially... is it just my imagination?
Easy running - brooks adrenaline
Up tempo , long run - puma dev nitro 2
Workouts - Hyperion tempo short sessions
Long sessions - nb sc elite v3
Future races - ASICS meta sky
Easy / Daily - NB 1080V13
Daily - Novablast 3
Speed / Tempo / Daily - Rebel v3
Tempo / Race Day - Elite v3
Shoes I plan on getting this year:
Saucony Pro 3 < when they go on sale
NB Pacer v2
NB Trainer v3
Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris
Glideride 3 / Mach X - Easy - Long and Speed
Metaspeed Edge + - Race 5k-42k
Asics GT2000 12 and Superblast for me atm.
When do the Metaspeed Paris go for sale on the UK?
I’ve consolidated to only superblasts. Now I just have 2 superblasts. One tts and other half size down. Really want to sell my tts one and and get another half size down.
I use the Speed 3/4 and the Vaporfly 2 for Races. Don't feel the need for an easy run shoe.
Currently, HOKA Mach 6 and Superblast just for variety but, realistically, I could just use the Superblast.
In my rotation ( 4-5 days per week / 200km per month )
New Balance 880 v13 : very good, everyday road run. 9 months in and I feel the foam is just starting to go. Very good road grip and lace look.
Nike Pegasus 39: worst of the bunch. A hard run and it takes about 3km-4km for the zoom/ foam to warm up. Good lace lock and road grip.
Saucony 17 Ride: started of very well, nice ride, average road grip( not comfortable in the wet). The lock down I felt was an issue, mainly because of the elastic laces. After 4 months I feel the foam is going and starting to feel like I’m running with bricks 🧱 ( poor for value of money)
Puma Run forever Nitro: best out the bunch, excellent ride, lace lock and road grip. Still feels like another 300km in these.
My rotation:
Trail - Alphafly v3
Daily - Alphafly v2
Race/Speed Work - Alphafly v1
Anyone else use these?!? They are from a small, upcoming brand, but they are great. 😊
hehe I got all 3 but I don't think I would use AF3 on trails ;p
What are the thoughts of alphafly 2 instead of 1 ?
You should make more of these videos every time you go through any of those shoes .
My current:
Triumph 20
Novablast 3
Deviate Nitro 2
Saucony Pro3
Later this year it might be:
NB 1080V 13
NB Rebel V4/ Novablast 4?
Saucony Speed 4
Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris
Except for the race shoes or the ones that sell out fast I always wait for the Autumn sales to get my shoes. This way I can feel better about the poor man’s sport idea.
I just recently picked up the 1080, endorphin speed 4, Novablast 4 and metaspeed sky paris and I promise you won’t be disappointed with any of those 4 and they’re making for an extremely nice rotation
Welcome to Boston for the Marathon!
I find the Cielo X1 close to the Alphafly V1 just more stable 🎉
Where did you get your quilted gilet please?
Endorfin speed4 stability? Compared with the speed2 ?
Great video. My rotation is Triumph 21’s for easy runs, speed 3s for tempo and Hoka challenger 7’s for light trails. Also have a box fresh pair of pro 3’s for races this spring & summer.
My rotation -
Noosa 15 & Triumph 21 easy runs.
Boston 12 and Superblast faster long runs.
Long fast run - Endorphin Pro 3, New Balance SC elite V3 and Metaspeed Edge plus.
Fast runs up to 10k - Mizuno wave Rebellion Pro V1, Adidas Pro 3 and Hoka Cielo X1.
Fast 5K - Metaspeed Sky Plus.
That’s a lot of shoes 😮
of those, I've got the boston 12, superblast, endorphin pro 3 and rebellion pro v1 .. of your collection, which one you think I should pick next ? ;) tx!
@@jean-phil go wild.. Mizuno Wave Rebellion 2 or Cielo X1.. But really best now are New Balance SC elite V4 and Metaspeed Paris.. Just note from me I have wide feet and went up half a size in the Wave Rebellion Pro V1 but half a size down from the SC Elite V3 in the New Balance SC elite V4 because it's very wide. Rebel V4 also very wide..
My rotation, short daily or recovery = nova blast 3, long run/daily or tempo = Mach X, racing = Rocket X2
Triumph 21 has been one of the all-around best shoes i’ve ever worn… and I typically don’t like max cushion shoes
New runner. Asics nimbus 25 for everything, but looking to get a versatile shoe for faster runs. Training for a marathon in September. Suggestions welcome!
Puma Velocity Nitro 3, Saucony Tempus and the Adidas Adizero Pro 2.
Training shoes: Strung X2, Endorphin Speed 3, Novablast 3
Race: Alphafly 2, AP3 recently added endorphin pro 4 and metaspeed Sky Paris. They should last the next few years 😂
Fuelcell Rebel V4
Takumi Sen 9
Endorphin Pro 4
Easy / Recovery : 1080 v13
Speed / Tempo : Mach 5
Long : Superblast
Want to try Rebel v4 for speed / tempo sessions and FF X Balos for Long distance.
I always get kneepain after running but since i got the Asics Gel Nimbus 26 and the pain is gone
Just bought the Gel Nimbus 26 and I’m so disappointed ☹️ I find it too cushioned and they feel cumbersome. Stuck with them but still researching
daily - NB3
recovery - NB3
long - NB3
speed/tempo - NB3
raceday - NB3
:D
My imaginary rotation based exclusively on reviews:
New Balance 1080 V13
Brooks Ghost Max
Saucony Triumph 21
ASICS Nimbus 25
Purpose: slow paced tread mill running and walking around city.
Damn saucony sure is popular among TRT crew
Saucony makes shoes for runners 🏃♂️ . Feel like ascics Hoka and brooks make good shoes but they also heavily cater to the casual crowd from mall walkers to nurses lol
@@Frichilsasta08 I mean I know plenty of grandmas walking around in Sauconys
@Seanonyoutube in my part of my village I swear all I see is brooks and Hoka. If it's a saucony, it's an extremely old model.
@@Frichilsasta08 here most popular running shoe brands for non runners are hoka, NB, and ON
Easy: Nimbus 25
Daily: Endorphin Speed 4
Race: Vaporfly 2
Seems everyone loves Speed 4 :D
Ever do a video about what shoes you’s like for walking / casual wear? I was in Orlando for the parks and thought I could have done with some recommendations
Probably similar to their easy/recovery day picks?
I've only got a daily trainer. Nike vomero 17. I want a trainer that I can use as my daily trainer but also on race day for 10ks and half marathons. Any recommendations
shoes that come to my mind that can be dailys and race shoes is Speed 3 and 4 and Asics Superblast
Easy/recovery: Saucony Triumph RFG/Nike Invincible 2
Speed/steady: Endorphin Speed 3/NB Rebel v4
Race: Alphafly v1/Vaporfly v2
Where do you find the Alphafly 1?
ebay and stock x
Did jane mention she had a baby
It would be great if Nike did a release pack of the Alpha Fly 1 and Original Waffle
Or Max 90's
With updated foam
i got a pair of alpha 1s last october in Aus, they released them and vaporlfy 2s as they found extra stock i believe
Has the Sky paris got a wide toebox
Yes just like in the Plus.
@@i.p2088 Thanks true to size ?
@@i.p2088 @davidpearson601 Also worth noting the Edge Paris has a mildly narrower toe box. The Sky is more accommodating of a wider forefoot.
Speed 4
Pro 4
Boston 12
SC Trainer V2
Cloudeclipse
How is your speed 4 compared to previous editions?
@dorins3787 the speed 4 is my first Saucony shoe. It's quickly become my favorite shoe (note: I've only been running for 3 years). I liked it so much I bought the Pro 4 for races 👍
Slow Superblast
Fast Adios Pro3
Jane still glowing after pregnancy apparently
Soooo...just spend the thick end of £600. Gotcha. 👍
seriously no love for the rebel v4 which is way better than the speed 4 guys come on
Maybe they are sponsored by Saucony ("have a long history of collaboration with Saucony"). Maybe they are not. Rebel v4 is not plated and has a lower stack. It is not better than s4 for a heavier runner.
Mike said he used it.
It was one of the shoes in the video…
We’re not and never have been sponsored by Saucony. Please don’t make incorrect claims about us.
@@TheRunTesters ok. I will delete the reply. But I do feel you are not objective in your shoe reviews. You are kind of the few influencial shoes reviewers that glorify the speed 4. And I expected better and more objective perspective.
Hold products still! Please don’t wave them around it’s quite difficult to watch.
2:25 "... they're all (Endorphin Speeds) relatively similar..." - the most erroneous statement I've heard in a long while! While the Speed 4 is somewhat of an improvement compared to the absolute rubbish of a shoe called the Endorphin Speed 3, they are a far cry from the snappy, ready to race, handle-any-kind-of-workout-you-throw-at-it shoe, also known as the Endorphin Speed 2. I am sorry, Tom, but you are dead wrong on this one. Having put a 1,000km in the Speed 1, close to 900km in the Speed 2, around 800km in the Speed 3, and as I am writing this comment, 100km in the Speed 4, I have to say that they feel like a muted, softer version of the Novablast 3 from Asics which is a downgrade compared with the first two iterations of the Speed line. There is a very apparent trend of shoe companies these days to bump up the stack height and widen the base of the shoes, veering to a completely different direction which I, among many others, do not enjoy.
Much of this depends on mechanics of the individual. the original speeds were uncomfortably narrow for my wider mid/forefoot. The 3 especially, and the 4 t some degree are more accommodating. and I find it far easier to comfortably accelerate in those shoes than in the early editions.
@@hamoudalnasser at least we can both agree that the model isn’t what it used to be.
Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 for general, Saucony Pro 3 for races and Hoka speed goat 5 for trails.
