    A true test is, “How do they print?” A 48MP image should enlarge to a 27” x 18” print. Based on 300ppi. That would AMAZING 😮!

      300 DPI, 8100x5400 -> 43.7 MPx
      It's easy to solve, but the print won't be very nice. Like a color magazine.
      1200 DPI, 32400x21600 -> 700 MPx
      There is no digital camera with such a resolution on the market. It is solved by interpolation.
      35 mm Kodacolor Gold film cca. 600 Mpx

      @@zoltanreisz2228I have a 32in print (300dpi) hanging on my wall captured with the Mini3Pro from 300ft high of a football stadium. I enlarged in Photoshop and it is perfect - not like a magazine print. Everyone who sees it can’t get over the quality, sharpness and detail from such a small camera. I too was surprised when I received the print at first ;)

      @@zoltanreisz2228 I am not sure what you numbers represents but according to PS the native file from the Air 3 with 48MP is suppose to print a print at 26.88" x 20.16" at 300ppi...a nice 24 x 20 would fun to see how it comes out.

      @@harrisongould9460 Hundreds of MPx photos are expected for an exhibition. Also when reproducing a painting. It also has a rather high price and takes a long time to print. A drone photo taken on vacation is in a different class. In the hobby category, I don't see the point of using a resolution higher than 16 MPx. For report photos, 4-8 Mpx is usually enough.
      One of my pictures was stolen once, the index picture (0.8 MPx) was used without permission. And it didn't look bad in print either! (tourist brochure)

      @@harrisongould9460 My opinion is that the Chinese manufacturers use a ridiculous amount of pixels, and the quality of the optics is barely acceptable at best. Few people appreciate how much distortion the camera has, but the number of pixels is clear to everyone. The light sensitivity can also be increased with an electronic device, against the noise of the small lens. Then comes JPG compression with 2% loss to keep the file small.
      Sorry, these hurt me.

    I have just downloaded the images (DNG RAW) and checked them in Photoshop 2023 on a 5K Monitor (iMAC) the file size of the one is 279 Megabytes and the other 69.8 Megabytes, which mathematically just happens to be a multiplier of 4 (Bayer array split into 4) so for sure each pixel when on separately holds the information as each would when combined into a 4 array. One thing I cannot see is any difference in quality/sharpness between the two when enlarged up to 400% (Same image size not canvas size, which means I am looking at the same sized image on the screen). Which we are never going to do to make a picture unless it is for a bill board and pixelation is not an issue. In summary to me it makes no difference if it is 12 meg or 48meg other than the SD card will fill up a lot faster.

    I've never liked the 48meg thingy. One of the bummers on the air3 for me is the 12 mp photo when the air 2S has 20. Step back for sure. So is sensor size.

    To be honest, the only way to test it is under low light. There has been a major flaw with the Air 3 in low light. However, after talking to DJI, they have informed me they are working on this. It's high noise and chromatic aberration at low iso's. I sent my first Air3 back, and it has been replaced. The replacement has been slightly better. However, I still have to use third-party software to clean up the image. There has been a new software update overnight, which I am keen to try later today. I feel dji will overcome this issue. It's an amazing drone. Thank you for the great videos. I always enjoy watching them. 😊

    I believe the difference between the two images' contrast is a result of the 12 MP image being in High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode, and the 48 MP image being in normal mode. Note the silhouettes of the buildings out on the horizon. They are darker on the 12 MP photo compared to the 48 MP one. HDR is apparently not being applied to the 48 MP photo.

    The fact:
    2K: (most monitor) 1920x1080 -> 2 MPx
    4K: 3840x2160 ->8.2 Mpx
    printing a 6x10 cm photo card (300 dpi): 711x1181 ->8.4 MPx
    printing a 6x10 cm photo cad with a spec. (1200 dpi) Canon photo printer: 2834x4724 -> 13 Mpx
    If you want to print a poster, 48 MPx is the way to go

    If I use single photos I prefer the 48mp they give me a bit more details. If I do panoramas, the 12mp is enough for me, especially when I do AEB.

    I downloaded the samples from your site - I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with the Air 3 photos as compared to what I get from my Air 2 S. I think the 48mp is a gimmick. The photos are really 12mp. I'm keeping my Air 2S for now as I have more room to push and pull the raw files at 20mp. Wake me up when the air 3s or the air 4 launches. Thanks for this video.

    It would be nice if we could see a comparison photo test with the Air3 and Mini3Pro at 48mp 24mm wide. I only use Mini3Pro for aerial photos and would like to see if it is worth upgrading to the Air3 but, only if there is a big difference. Thank You!

    I compared the 12mp and 48mp DNG files and was a little disappointed with the amount of noise in the image. The files that DJI makes available on the website have much less noise. What did you think of this issue? It's not the quality I would like, especially thinking about the possibility of printing the photographs.

    Does the 48mp mode on the air 3 still suffer with the same chromatic aberrations and colour shifts as much as the mini 3 Pro in high dynamic range photos and and in the small? It'd be interesting to see seeing as they both use the same omnivision ov48c sensor?

    The new drone and the new model imply a more advanced AI.
    No blogger discusses this issue. In my opinion, at this point in time, the most advanced and quick-thinking AI in the American copter Skydio2.
    And as for the new DJI AIR 3 - I want to hear a sane answer to a simple question:
    imagine that (this new model) is quite far away, and you raised the copter to the maximum height to fly around the snow-covered top of the mountain.The copter began to fly around in a circle and direct visibility is blocked behind the top.You, the mountain, and the copter are on the same line, the copter is behind the top.The connection is broken. Will the copter have enough intelligence to return? According to the firmware limitation, he will not be able to climb higher, he has a height restriction.Will it return on the reverse trajectory? Or will it land the battery in a hover and fall over the mountain?
    Can anyone explain this question?

    Hi Henrick. 12Mp all the way. I fly the Mini 3 Pro and get far better results from the native 12Mp's. FAR better. Having downloaded your RAW files, they files confirm my stance on this.
    To the gentleman's comment regarding a 48Mp image printing out at 27"x18"...
    I would suggest some research is needed. Mp's do not limit the print size my friend!!! (I have a 6'x4' printout by a professional printer of a file used by a photographic magazing back in the day taken on my then new, 6Mp Nikon D70)

    Air 3 has 48 Mp 4 times smaller than Air 2S and only operating at 12 Mp joining 4 in one is equivalent to real logical pixels of Air 2S. Only the Air 2S has 20 Mp, 8 more than the Air 3.

    • @user-le7ee7us2f
      @user-le7ee7us2f Рік тому

      @@TECHDRONEMEDIA This basic information about the Air 3 sensor is on DJI's website! Its sensor is similar to that of the mini 3, smaller than the 1¨ Air 2S sensor, it is 1/1.3 quad bayer with 2.4 micron pixels operating at 12 megapixels, that is, at 48 megapixel the size of the pixels are 4 times smaller! Unlike the Mavic 3 that the sensor increased in size, going from 1¨ of the Mavic 2 Pro to 4/3 and maintaining 20 megapixels, the Air 3 decreased in size from 1¨ 20 megapixels to 1/1.3 12 megapixels, that is, the what can compensate now is in the lens opening that is bigger and in the softwer, because the sensor capacity has decreased! Just consult any photographer to confirm this, the smaller the sensor and the smaller the pixels, the smaller the sensor's ability to absorb light! that's why the full frame sensor is the best of all, because it's a bigger sensor, with bigger pixels...

      Thanks for the follow up - this is something that will make a difference I’m sure but is it enough as a drone does offer other advantages and using the footage on social media I’m not really sure people can see the difference
