    Love the support wire idea. The fact that it comes ready to go with all the documentation is awesome.

    SWEEEEEEET! Just getting ready to order a couple dozen snares from snareone.com using the tips you emailed me awhile back and NOW I'm gonna add a couple "packs" of these for backpacking trips. Thanks Tim, you are a HUUUGE warehouse of info and tips lot of us really appreciate and value. Not one tip I've seen you explain has failed me yet.

    we have used brass picture wire for years and years in the UK to snare rabbits, nothing to much wrong with it.
    not sure about snares for deer or fox, would be good to see some deer snaring tips

    Woot! I've been waiting for this for a long time. If you watch Alone, you'll see a ton of paracord snare fails.

      what I've noticed, regarding para-cord on alone is the contestants don't have a clue how to use it. If para-cord is all you got, it can work.

      The Rogue Trapper video video video... I may just be in that situation. A bunch of guys, including those in the Taiga, use twitch - ups to keep the animal away from scavengers. That's what happened in season 3.

    Can you put some kind of swivel to keep your snare from getting twisted into uselessness?

    I doubt the loading slide will work very well in the north where ice will jam up the wire.

    Real snares finally. All the bush craft skills in the world don't put food in you stomach if they fail.

    Two questions: Have seen cables with swivels that are intended (I think) for use with with leg hold traps. Would cables with swivels like this work for use with snares, to make them re-usable? Is it possible to keep snares from closing entirely so that the prey would be alive, yet unable to escape the snare. Am thinking about feral hogs, here. Our winters aren't cold enough to freeze anything bigger than a pigeon, and am concerned about spoiled meat if an animal dies in the snare...

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  7 років тому +2

      Good questions. Swivels are normally used in snares, but add bulk and cost to emergency, survival kit snares. The primary function of the swivel is to keep the animal from twisting the cable so badly it breaks. In a survival situation, it is assumed that you will be very close by, and can react quickly to a catch, so the swivel is not necessary in this situation.
      For use with hogs, I use barrel swivels with a thousand pound breaking strength. These are the swivels I use: www.southernsnares.com/products/barrel-swivels?variant=34226564302 . They are by far the best. Barrel swivels work much better on snares than any type of box swivel.

    You said you can use the snare one time then trash is there a snare you can use more than one time???? Is there a snare that you can use more than one time or is a body trap that is better. I do like our videos a lot I have learned a lot from them.
    I do want to use a snare or body trap more than one time can you help me out. Thanks

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  5 років тому +1

      All snares are a one use device. Footholds and bodygrips can be used for uears.

    I missed a vid. Could you reply with a link or do a short vid to explain that?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  7 років тому

      loganv0410 When you make a catch, the animal twists and chews the cable so badly cannot be reused. Check out this video at the 9:40 mark to see. ua-cam.com/video/cT5dCrh9-O0/v-deo.html

    I've always believed a snare is the stealthiest way to procure meat in a survival situation. I like your philosophy and principles. This is God's planet....not 3M's. You are welcome at my door anytime. A meal..a bed...whatever. Heb. 13:16
