the first boat the one on the video had an elite 7 chirp and it never froze 1 i got another boat and a different chirp 7 and it did freeze up oncexand a while your better off getting elite 7 ti i have 1 of those and it works perfect thx for stopping bye
This a great video, thank you. Mr. Bass Monkey, I just bought a Hook 7 and I'm still having problems deciphering between a bass and clutter. Can you or will you make a close screen shot video to explain how and what to look for? Thanks Doug - Fort Walton Beach, FL
I just put these settings in mine and dam my downscan is spot on and I fish in Darwin harbour in Australia and in saltwater and works well if I could put a photo up I would
ok-thanks. Lowrance gave me another one.Same results, which I may have already mentioned.Took my map card back out.I would not be shocked if yours did the same thing if you stopped in leass than 10 feet of weedy water and sat for an extended period of time or drifted real slow or almost not moving over shallow water.
thanks for the info..I saw a good many angled streaks the other day and thought there was a problem with unit.I was in open water at 25 ft on a very small lake stocked with trout. Then I marked fish and had pretty quick action on the trout.Think they were chasing something.Maybe nymphs hatching and swimming towards surface.
Hey BM, can you repost the video you did of the Elite 5 Chirp, i think it was from 2011.. when you had it on the table and were going through all the settings and showing which ones were the best? If possible, i had the link saved but now says video is unavilable.
not pushing any buttons when it happens. This is the second unit including transducer, so obviously something else.Did have someone suggest redoing power connections, but not losing power, but just did that anyway. Not sure if being in shallow water(less than 15 feet) and being on high chirp and fastest ping speed would cause issues if stopped in same spot for too long?
I got one last year and from on set of using the screen would freeze as if the stop sonar function was activated. Then would start moving on its own after about 20 or 30 seconds.Would do this maybe once or twice on a trip.Annoying!Contacted Lowrance multiple times and tried dedicated battery and discussed wire routing incase of interference.Nothing helped.Eventually had to pay to ship unit back and they replaced the unit minus the Transducer.Only got to try it once before winter and it did it again!Ever have this problem.Just talked to a rep at the Big outdoor show here in Hariisburg,Pa and he never heard of that problem.Said it could be Transducer, but not sure.Any problems with yours?
You are guy that did regular non chirp HDI videos on settings right? Chirp seems slower or is that my imagination as the page scrolls to left.. Just subbed because crap your information is priceless. Lowrance should be paying you
I have tried two different battery sources. One directly to the battery and the other thru a switch on the boat.Same results.Went thru the gammet with lowrance on this and other fixes. After reading some info on Lowrance site recently I think since the unit and transducer were replaced I just think this unit is overkill in shallow water(les than 15 feet) when set on High chirp and fastest ping(chart speed) and not moving or barely moving the unit can not process the info fast enough for the chart to keep up thus locking up the screen like a chart stop function.I need to get back on the water and test this theory.Only thing not replaced was the main power cable to the unit which I think would not cause this issue.May take the mapping card out, but already tried this with no change in the past. Not sure why ping speed and chart speed are not adjustable by them selves?thanks
How is it you had trans ducer all ready mounted? Wondered if older HDI units have all same parts minus Chirp head unit. Save a lot work installing new Chirp not have run the new transducer.
+SEAGULL FISHERMAN yes they have same transducers lowrance and humminbird are both good but the lowrance is much easyer to use and shows the fish easier
What is the main use for the steer screen?Do you ever use it.I tried using it on a small lake and was doing circles trying to find a way point.:)I then talked to someone at Bass Pro and they said it would mainly be used for traveling long distances on the water, such as miles and not for on smaller bodies of water. Why can't ping speed and scroll speed be adjusted separate?
+newyota1 yes I use the t a way gps screen when you mark fish put OINT ON THEM SPLIT YOUR SCREEN BETWEEN GPS AND SONAR THEN YOU CAN GO BACK TO YOUR Way point and know where the fish you marked are make sure you zoom in on the gps to about 500 feet
At 3:08 of video your sonar show lots of marks and some streaks going on an angle about 45 degrees top to bottom. What are these from?I got some of these the other day in open water and also was marking fish I believe.Still learning what fish are and what are not. Will different species show different color?
+newyota1 at 308 those are fish streaking to the top chasing bait fish different fish show up as bigger and smaller marks but all fish show up as the same color bigger fish more color smaller fisher smaller color
tokiesgalore yes directly under the boat the screen scrolls from right to left as it scrolls left thats the older data what appears on the right of screen is whats happening now check out my other videos VIDEO game bass fishing and drop BASS Fishing i show you the fish then catch them thx 4 stopping bye
I just bought a boat with this unit on it. How do I know if it has down imaging and sonar ? The guy didn’t really show anything about the unit. But thanks to you showing how to,use it. I’ll learn a lot
This was a great video but can you comment on or do a video on using the Unit for navigation and GPS? I want to know how well that works for being able to use the unit to mark fishing spots and finding your way. Thanks in Advance
+Linwood Johnson the gps is great mark the fish and go to your way point theres a lot on the internet about gps for lowrance if u get a navionics chip make sure it has your home waters
My screen is stopping(scrolling) still.even after a new unit was sent then a new transducer.does it while sitting still or moving slowly like you are doing .Lowarance is no help.
+newyota1 reset your unit to factory defaults and re tune unit if you press the buttons 2 fast it will confuse the unit slow down when pressing any of the keys my unit has no issues hope this helps
Joe Crawford watch some of my recent videos. to see more elecronic s fishing both are good if I was 2 only run 1 Fishfinder on my boat I'll run a hummingbird if I'm going to run more than one fish finder at same time I run Lowrance but don't forget whatever brand you get to make sure you get there GPS and Lake charts lakemaster for hummingbird and Navionics for Lowrance good luck
I had someone else respond to me on a different youtube video concerning their screen freezing up on their unit and they were unhappy as me.At least I am not alone or crazy. They said these units are known to have a slow processor thus creating this issue. You still have not experienced this?
Don't push any buttons when this happens. As i mentioned before this is the second one I got from lowrance with same results.I found that if I leave it on 200khz it does it much less or not at all.As long as I keep moving it does not do this screen freezing.Sorry I spent the money on it at times.Chirp is really not that great for shallow water anyway, better suited for deeper water which I rarely fish.
+LunkerPursuit it it shows whats right below your boat it works as the older data scrolls off screen and the newer data is what is currently being drawn you can mark the fish or anything you see on the screen and use your gps to go back to what you marked!

Glad I viewed this. I got an Elite 5 Chirp and I haven't dialed it in yet. This will help a lot.
+Ralphdaddy thanks good luck
Hey man thanks a lot for the tips. You explained it finally in a easy way.
the first boat the one on the video had an elite 7 chirp and it never froze 1 i got another boat and a different chirp 7 and it did freeze up oncexand a while your better off getting elite 7 ti i have 1 of those and it works perfect thx for stopping bye
que opción de trasductor as puesto en la configuración que a mí no me sale el chirp

+Dougie Fresh sure I can help u with that look at images on google of lowrance chirp sonar to see what the fish look like
I just put these settings in mine and dam my downscan is spot on and I fish in Darwin harbour in Australia and in saltwater and works well if I could put a photo up I would

+newyota1 are you wired directly to a battery or fuse box
FYI.. there are new updates for these on their website!I hope mine works better.
Muy buena configuración pero que tal en agua salada? Nos puedes sorprender también?
hey on the back of those bridge piles is where you can start fishing for crappie.
I got one last year and from on set of using the screen would freeze as if the stop sonar function was activated. Then would start moving on its own after about 20 or 30 seconds.Would do this maybe once or twice on a trip.Annoying!Contacted Lowrance multiple times and tried dedicated battery and discussed wire routing incase of interference.Nothing helped.Eventually had to pay to ship unit back and they replaced the unit minus the Transducer.Only got to try it once before winter and it did it again!Ever have this problem.Just talked to a rep at the Big outdoor show here in Hariisburg,Pa and he never heard of that problem.Said it could be Transducer, but not sure.Any problems with yours?
make sure your ducer is in the right place I always put mine a little lower than the picture
You are guy that did regular non chirp HDI videos on settings right? Chirp seems slower or is that my imagination as the page scrolls to left.. Just subbed because crap your information is priceless. Lowrance should be paying you
+SEAGULL FISHERMAN thanks chirp is clearer there both good

+newyota1 at this pint I would have it returned or a marine shop install
I have another basic question. How fast can the boat be traveling in order to not have issues with the transducer signal?
looking for fish should be around 2 to 5 mph you won't mark much at high speeds just depth
Hey on the back side of the bridge piles is where you can start fishing for crappie
go back on the video press down on the comment then then hit delete
I can't see anything from this video. What are you selecting??
How is it you had trans ducer all ready mounted? Wondered if older HDI units have all same parts minus Chirp head unit. Save a lot work installing new Chirp not have run the new transducer.
+SEAGULL FISHERMAN yes they have same transducers lowrance and humminbird are both good but the lowrance is much easyer to use and shows the fish easier

You should have mentioned to put it in manual mode also?
Now @ 7:00 when you say "Its all fish right here" on the right side of the screen is that directly beneath your boat?
tokiesgalore yes directly under the boat the screen scrolls from right to left as it scrolls left thats the older data what appears on the right of screen is whats happening now check out my other videos VIDEO game bass fishing and drop BASS Fishing i show you the fish then catch them thx 4 stopping bye
I just bought a boat with this unit on it. How do I know if it has down imaging and sonar ? The guy didn’t really show anything about the unit. But thanks to you showing how to,use it. I’ll learn a lot
What model do u have and what transducer type?
Bass Monkey Fishing well, I have the elite 7 chirp. Is that the model number. Transducer looks like the 83/200. Just judging it by the pictures
Hope that helps. Only taken the boat out once and didn’t know much about how to work it Was just curious if it had sonar and down imaging
This was a great video but can you comment on or do a video on using the Unit for navigation and GPS? I want to know how well that works for being able to use the unit to mark fishing spots and finding your way. Thanks in Advance

I noticed that you have a humminbird also. Which one do you like better? I'm in the market.

no mine works good dont press 2 many buttons at once
Don't push any buttons when this happens. As i mentioned before this is the second one I got from lowrance with same results.I found that if I leave it on 200khz it does it much less or not at all.As long as I keep moving it does not do this screen freezing.Sorry I spent the money on it at times.Chirp is really not that great for shallow water anyway, better suited for deeper water which I rarely fish.
newyota1 sounds like interference! Not your unit, this is the problem when people who aren't sure of proper installation
Is the screen showing what is right below your boat or in front? How does that work?????
+LunkerPursuit it it shows whats right below your boat it works as the older data scrolls off screen and the newer data is what is currently being drawn you can mark the fish or anything you see on the screen and use your gps to go back to what you marked!
