    Holy cow!! Thank you so much for this tutorial ... I consider myself an advanced beginner but I could not figure some of the (very minimal) directions out. You saved my sanity a bit today!!

    Thank you for this video. I'm waiting on my fabric to complete these pants. Im not crazy about the lack of directions for the pants. Style Arc should have more videos for their patterns.

    I stopped working on these to come and watch you. I figured out everything up to the waistband. The instructions just say sew elastic to the waistband and attach it to the pants. I had never done a waistband like that and I could not figure it out. Thanks so much for the concise,clear instructions.

    Thank you for your vlog, I made a pair this week using 4 oz denim and they are perfect for this time of year. I did not have the wide elastic, just 1” so I stitched about 1/4” from folded edge of waistband and made a mock paper bag waistline. Between these and the Yanta (Helen’s Closet) overalls, it may be a draw as to my favorite!

    Thanks for the helpful video! This waistband was a STRUGGLE. I had to reinforce areas where the raw edge popped out of the seam by top stitching with zig zags all over the place. In the future, if I want to do the classic “fold over and insert elastic with a safety pin” method, do you think I can simply add 3-4 inches to the top of the main pant front / back pattern pieces? Then ditch the separate waistband pattern piece?

    • @SewHungryHippie
      @SewHungryHippie  2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can do this, but it will be more bunchy looking - but it works. I have several pairs I did like this. Experiment with fabric you don't love (or inexpensive) and see if you like it. :D

    Thank for sharing! What is the benefit of sewing the elastic down vs sewing a channel and then feeding the elastic through?

    • @SewHungryHippie
      @SewHungryHippie  3 роки тому +1

      This is just a different way of doing it. The waistband is separate, so you'll need to leave a gap at the back before sewing to the pants-- insert your elastic --scrunching the waistband a bit to fit the top of the pant. Then sew to pant. It can be done, I just wanted to follow the instructions in order not to confuse people. :D

    hi. great video, thanks! how much fabric did you use? I think they say around 1,30 metres if one "cuts two way" (not sure what they mean by this).

    • @SewHungryHippie
      @SewHungryHippie  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I put it on the screen somewhere, in type but it's quick ---- because I was using 44" wide fabric (quilting cotton) I needed QUITE A BIT more! I used 2.5 yards and I'm 5"4 --so if you're taller you might need a bit more. :D Let me know how it goes! :D

    • @cl2825
      @cl2825 3 роки тому

      @@SewHungryHippie indeed, then I noticed you had added the yardage within the video, apologies for that! so...I was able to cut a size 8 from 1.40 metres...but it was to the millimeter! I barely managed...and not with fabric folded, of course. Not sure how stylearc suggests 1.30 metres for this pattern. A good thing they could add would be a map of placing the pattern pieces on the fabric for cutting :) I'll proceed now in following your suggestions to build my bob pants, thanks again!

    Great video; you made me want to sew these. I am a total beginner but I'm going to give it a try. Does anyone know what what the inseam measurement is? I'm short, 5 foot even and I don't want to lose the beautiful shape of the pant's legs.

    • @SewHungryHippie
      @SewHungryHippie  2 роки тому

      I believe the inseam is listed on the pattern - but their patterns are written for an average height of 65" :)

    Hi, thank you for the video. I'm a complete beginner and about to try these. What stitch did you use to sew the elastic to the waist band please? It doesn't look like you were doing a straight stitch.

    • @SewHungryHippie
      @SewHungryHippie  2 роки тому

      Zig zag stitch - it stretches. Straight stitches will pop. ☺️

    Hello. Thank you for your video! I’m working on my first Style Arc pattern (Bob Pants) and I'm kind of confused as to which of the lines I am supposed to be cutting at. I'm going with the size 20. Do I cut on the dotted line or the solid line. I can send a picture of where I'm really confused...at the hem of the pants, unless I cut the whole thing wrong?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
