Hey Jay the port timing is different on xc and xcw. Cylinders aren’t identical. One of the reasons xc has more power but xcw has better lug. This bike mod sounds like a good middle ground.
I like that the manuals are online, but I still have to have my paper copy handy. This because its no fun having to carry my desktop or laptop pc back and forth to the garage lol.
Guys, I love this video! I just picked up my 2024 KTM XC-W and to me it has plenty of power but I guess why not! Also, I printed out the manual double-sided and have it in a notebook in my garage so I referred to it all the time with index tabs for things like torque specs, etc. Question: why would KTM put that step in the dome to prevent you from swapping it out easily? I’m just curious. Also it looks like you have an FMF Shorty silencer on the bike. I would think the preference would be to go for the longer turbine core so you don’t lose low, end, torque and power. I’m just curious why you made that decision. Thank you!
I do that also. I’m old school. I miss the days of hard paper shop manuals. I still order them when available for any bikes I own. To be honest I think every bike/machine sold should just come standard with a paper back service manual. But manufacturers really don’t like guys working on there stuff anymore.
Leaving the stock map In the white position of the handlebar switch really gives the best of both worlds. When you want to get some hit the green button 🤘🏻
I'm guessing you mean after your special tune is involved, correct? Not by using the new head and a stock tune...but rather using your tune along with the new head and using the map switch.
Yes the true magic of this motorcycle is how it can be ridden in greasy and terrible conditions. We chose to respect the best parts of the stock motorcycle in the white map and build a fun more mx style map in the green map option
@@twisteddevelopmentracing Got it! I'll check out your information, I hear tons of great stuff about you guys. Thanks so much for the information. You're describing exactly how these bikes should be set up, white map for regular trail ride and gnarly hard enduro stuff and green map for long gnarly straight hills and other great times that deserve WOT!
Jay, Were you able to get a red or green sticker on the 2024? I want one but I’m scared to buy one with coming changes to sticker program in CA. I have a 2020 right now so I’m locked in luckily
Did you do change your XC? I had the same question. I have a 2023 Husqvarna TX300 (same ax XC). I've already installed a 9oz flywheel weight but would like to soften it a little more. I was curious how the XC-W head would perform with the stock TE / XC ECU and map. I've ridden a few XC-W, and I feel like they have too soft of a hit even on the green map, but the XC is a little too hot when riding technical or hard-enduro type terrain. All of the aftermarket products heads, tuners, etc. tend to focus on more power. I don't need more power. Thanks
Just found out KTM is owned by Baja 300 Austrian technicians laid off what the heck is going on? We are told by actual KTM technician they would not touch a KTM anymore with your 10-ft pole KTMs 300 are blowing cylinders off or 2024 Husqvarna was leaking oil so bad out of the shift seal they replaced it twice now. Is this true? Please tell what you know about this
The xc and xcw cylinders are different, not to mention the ECU differences. More compression means more heat, without ecu changes sounds like a great way to blow up your XCW.
I want to know how you’re trail riding a ‘24 Two Stroke in California and planning to build another for yourself? I’ve been wanting to add a modern 300 to my garage but if I can’t get a plate or a sticker, I’m hosed in Cali.
The most common answer will be that you don't want the rear suspension linkage. Other than that, some people, for a variety of reasons, will start off with an XC-W and then eventually want more performance.
As someone with a tx300 I think now I would have gone te300 and done the dome. So I could easily have the power for a light off the bat and the heavier flywheel for the extra lug. It would’ve been closer to the 450 I came off.
Greatest bike ever made and Jay just made it better!

XC has link suspension also, so really all he's doing is increasing the hp.
You guys kill it !!! Such good info keep it up please good day sir
A lot of great info! Super cool how the bike came out.
The head is different but the cylinder heights are different … this gives the sxf the revs and top end power
Nice! Especially since it has my racing number on it!

Good info!! Think the XC/SX have different cly with diff porting then the XCW's aswell.

Another great video! Cool option to make a great bike even better!
Rad Vest Jay. Who makes that? I have a question for the podcast. Should I email that in? Thanks!
Yes email is best and he always responds pretty quickly.

It would be interesting to see one set up for 208 octane leaded C12 race gas.
This fuel can handle way higher compression and adds huge power.
Damn,i wish i lived near you guys..
It’s a good idea to get a Twin Air fuel tank sock filter so no dirt hets in the tank.

Most get an out of state plate...
What do you think about doing the opposite? I’d like to take a 300xc and make it less spicy.
Great ideas. Email Jay directly for tips.
@@dirtbiketv1 where do I find that? Your website?
@@dirtbiketv1never mind I’m dumb, it’s in the video description 😂

What's the contact info for Tom Morgan to cut the step into the dome?

Sounds like quitter talk 😂Email me for answers.
Plate different state. Ez
Many free states don't ask about residency and all that.
Guys out there thatprovide this service.
Can u do this to a 07
Instead of XC head I would go to Kesley at RK tech and get him to make me a pump gas compatable head.
Why wouldnt you just buy an XC

Xc doesn't have stator
Because these are the types of guys who just can’t leave things alone, more power does not mean you’ll be faster in the woods
