The dancer is the fab actor John Travolta., You may know him from Pulp Fiction and it's a clip from the film Saturday Night Fever...pretty sure you'd love it, it's iconic now and was huge when it came out...I was 17 when the film was released...so when you see all us 'oldies' milling about and not give us a second glance, just remember that it was our generation that was getting down to disco, prog rock, punk, goth etc and it's still in our souls, even if some of us now limp with arthritis, inside our heads we are still dancing! 😊👍🇬🇧
Omg, YES! Just turned 60, myself. Was sneaking into clubs when I was 15 just so I could DANCE. Had to get my friend’s mom to buy our tickets to see Saturday Night Fever when it came out. But dang, we had fun back then, and 90% of it was centered around music. Concerts, dancing, inviting your friends over to hear your latest album purchase. Good times.
Just an FYI - the producers of Saturday Night Fever wanted to cut that dance sequence out. John Travolta was so upset, he went to them begging with them to PLEASE PUT IT BACK IN!! And they did.. the rest, as they say... is history!
I am 59 Years old. I graduated High school in 1982. I am so glad I grew up in the 70's and 80's during a Golden Age of Music. There were so many great songs and artists from all genres. The artists would cross genres and also write songs for each other and perform together. EWe also had the oldies station that played great music from the 50; s and 60's. To answer some of your questions I danced to this song at school dances and parties. It was also played at the skating rink. everyone would get on the dancefloor, It was all about the music and having fun.
Yes, we did dance to it on a real I can't remember, but probably on the radio, listening to the top 40 count down to the number 1 after going Sunday School and Sunday dinner. Simpler time's
Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive, is where you start with the the Bee Gees!!! All the brothers but, Barry, the main singer, are no longer with us, sadly. May they all RIP!!!
'You Should Be Dancing' is from an album before ' Saturday Night Fever' and got the Bee Gees their audition for SNF. That is why it is used in this dance clip from the movie.
@@kathyheyne6030 I was referring to their biggest title that most react to on You Tube. Not when they first started performing. Clearly, they didn't start with the disco scene.
This is a great video because it has all four Gibb brothers, the youngest Andy Gibb join them and it’s so nice seeing all four of them together! The youngest Andy Gibb died young he was only 30!
We were spoiled. We got used to one great song after another coming out on the radio all the time! And it was all genres. They were all great. Incredible music and lyrics!
We went to Disco's 2 or 3 times a week dancing to Disco, Soul, Motown,we let our hair down and enjoyed ourselves. for me the 60's and 70's were the best decades for music. I may now be an OAP but the music still plays in the car, in my house and I am still young in my head. You will find this out in about 40 years!! Well done lad!
Back in the 70s & 80s people didn't go to a bar unless there was a huge dance floor. Everyone danced or try to like John Travolta. I think that's why everyone was so thin. 😁😁
My aunt and uncle used to win disco contests all the time. I loved music growing. My uncle would push back all the furniture and roll up the carpet. My mom and sister would tag along to visit. The Bee Gees would be blaring and we would watch them dance !!💃🏻 🕺🏾 my mom had 8 bros and sis and they were all great dancers!! Thanks for bringing back the memories! ❤
I was quite young when the Bee Gees were big - and they were HUGE. And then, seemingly overnight, they became a joke. I never understood it - they were so innovative and had such talent.
I think it was due to the racism and homophobia of the anti disco movement. Disco came from BIPOC gay culture! Check out Sylvester doing one of the first disco hits- You Make Me Feel Mighty Real. 😊
I'm 75 and I'm still jamming to the music of the 60's, 70's and early 80's. The music of that time made you want to sing and move with the music. There were a lot of great groups producing music.
Also Berry was married to Lind since 1973 I believe. Still married to her. Loves her. But you'd think he was a Casanova with those lyrics. 😂Also I forgot the green heart in my last comment💚.
I love that Andy (the youngest brother) is singing with his brothers in this video.. Andy was a preteen crush for me... lol I also love that it's showing some John Travolta with his moves back in the day.. My parents wouldn't even let me see the PG version of this movie... I can honestly say I just saw it for the first time.. in its entirety .. 6 weeks ago.. And didn't really like it.. but the music was great and I loved seeing John dancing. I was 9 when it came out
❤❤The Bee Gees wrote the music to this film 'Saturday Night Fever', it's was the biggest selling soundtrack of all time for decades!!! It was also the beginning of John Travolta's career. You'll probably know him from Pulp Fiction ❤❤
Yes yes yes!! My best friend had her wedding based on this album. All the songs on the Saturday night fever album were played and we danced all night! This album played everywhere all dances , sweet 16s, parties, bbqs it was in the air 😂 and the clothes were awesome! Leather coats, boots, suits clog hoppers omg it was amazing! Disco lights were everywhere in all the parties! We had so much fun and no worries about being shot or a fight breaking out. It was a beautiful time to be a teen. Watch Saturday night fever. The movie is really good it was a big hit in the 70s
The entire soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever is packed with BeeGees music. Other iconic artists from that era: Donna Summer, Jackson 5, Rose Royse, Heatwave, Earth Wind and Fire.
Loved your reaction. You would really enjoy Wind of change (1979), Spirits having flown, Kiss of life, I could not love you more and Jive talking ❤❤❤❤. Barry has been happily married for 53 years. He and his brothers were definitely heartthrobs but were all in long term marriages💚💚
Yes he was "THE MAN"! I'm a huge BEE GEES fan. If you react to their song called "STAYING LIVE", you'll know that song and will probably be surprised to know it's them singing it.
Yeah it was like this in the 70s n 80s..what u have to remember is the music was current and fresh it was the vibe of the times..liberating..80s was the best time for music..so many genres
The BeeGees are originally from England/Australia. The one who sings so high is Barry Gibb and he was the oldest brother. He is also the only surviving brother. The others have all passed. They broke into the music scene in the 60s. They went 'viral' in the 70s and became the voice of Disco. I can't count how many hours I danced to their music. That was my high school years. They provided the soundtrack for the movie 'Saturday Night Fever'. They have also written music for a large contingent of other singers and bands. Very talented.
Born on the Isle of man which is british.went to Australia for 10yrs where they worked on their sound got some fame.moved back to britain.later moved to the US where Andy, fraternal twins robin and Maurice passed.leaving Barry left.
Yup, Isle of Man, then Manchester, then Australia... Such an amazing group, and I love their early videos from when they lived in Australia... Sweets for My Sweet, Wine and Women, I Want You to Want Me... I've known of them for decades, but only recently jumped down the rabbit hole from 'good band' to 'I want to know all the things'. LOL
Andy was my favorite of the brother's Gibb he was very talented in his own right. No one can take that away from him. I have a huge crush on Andy. I wasn't very happy with the way he was treated he was a solo artist. the sad part is Barry was not on good terms with Andy when he died that is the saddest part of the entire thing. Sometimes we have regrets when someone dies be kind while they are still here and not cry about things you should of done or not done to the one you profess love for. Awesome reaction.
This is from a movie called Saturday Night Fever which revolved around a dance competition. John Travolta starred in it and is the guy dancing in the video here.
Jay you are too much . I really enjoy watching ur reaction of The Bee Gees thank you . Lovely to see u reacting to The Bee Gees. I remembered good old days when musics had meaning and appreciated. I danced to Night Fever in high School and friends parties. I even watched Saturday night fever film stared John Travolta as Tony Manero. The man dancing to The Bee Gees song the handsome and great Actor John Travolta. I really wish people of your age ll at least try to know about real musicians and musics from the past . Good luck to you Jay . U don't just deserve green hearts but other colours as well. 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚🧡🧡💛💛💛🤎🤎🩵🩵🩵🩵💜💜💜💜🤍🤍🤍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Its interesting that all the dance sequences in Saturday Night Fever were done with some other music playing. The BeeGees didn't even sign onto the project until it was about all finished filming. They just dubbed the music in for the movie.
I love this video because it has all 4 of the Brothers Gibb in it! Andy is the one at the microphone with Maurice! That is John Travolta strutting his stuff on the dance floor in the movie Saturday Night Fever! I was born in '59, graduated in '78, so I was a teenager when this came out, and the Bee Gees were *huge*!
Barry Gibb has been married for 52 years he was the sexiest thing walking back in the day and yes he could have had any woman he wanted at any time but he was a faithful Family Man and still is
I went to discos at least 4 nights a week in London. This is REAL life! In fact when this hit No1 I worked for Cunard on QE2 New York to Southampton every five days. I’d be in NY at a disco Bee Gees non stop then five nights later I’d be in London at a disco Bee Gees non stop then I’d be back onboard ship again to NY and in the crew disco it’s be Bee Gees non stop again. Seriously not only was this MASSIVE on both sides of the Atlantic it was MASSIVE in the middle of the Atlantic. 😅
The 4th singer is their little brother Andy Gibb. I prefer hand rolled windows. If you ever wrecked into water you could roll the window down and escape. That song is from the movie Saturday Night Fever. They did most of the soundtracks for the movie. They also wrote their own songs.
I didn’t know a Gen Z member could attain the same level of nostalgia as I’ve had starting in the early 80’s.. 😂 You’re sure you’re not one of those Gen Xers that lost out to that era’s many dangers and reincarnated to the early 2000’s..!? 😂😂 P.S: I discovered this song when I watched the movie (“Saturday Night Fever” if I remember right). During the 70’s here in America, we had dance clubs or discos (they were called bars) with the most famous in New York City was Studio 54. All the celebrities went but it was a scandalous place at the end. Anyway trying to dance like they did on the movie was a thing. My favorite was a line dance of sorts called the hussle and you didn’t need a partner to dance it. 😊you should be dancing 🕺 yay 🎶
Love the beginning of this movie, Saturday Night Fever, for which the Bee Gees made and solidified their disco phase. You have to play it. You'll love it and probably recognize it. 💙😎
6:24 John Travolta famously danced w Princess Di when she wore the black "revenge dress" the same night Charles confirmed his adultry publicly. I was in my early 20s then, and I was thinking, "These 'old people' can really move!" Karma's a B! You should see it at least once. -🌴an old-adjacent broad in Palm Springs 🌴
Sometimes I think the younger generation looks at those dance moves and are like 'Eh'. But I don't think they understand how difficult some of those moves are. Another great watch for dancing...Gotta watch some Soul Train dance lines. That is epic!
A pretty well perfect live performance is the song, ''Unchained Melody'' by the Righteous Brothers-1965. If you want to hear a couple of minutes of them joking around and explaining why only one is singing put ''The Andy Williams show'' in your search.
The great 'Brothers Gibb'.❤...RIP Maurice, Andy & Robin..❤.. Loved these guys..❤. they had written and performed about 1000 songs for them and various other artists... Barry was the heartbreaker of the group, but there were no other beautiful master harmonizers like the Bee Gees....One of my favorite groups,, ❤ Great reaction.❤
Berry's been married for about 50 years to the same woman, but he had a few girls along the line. And then concerts and stuff they were on the road a lot.
Their music was everywhere man, you literally could not go anywhere without hearing these songs. They were truly special and had longevity over a span of 20 years.
💚💚💚such great memories of community hall disco parties, junior high school dances, the roller rink with the lights and disco balls, we would practice those moves and bust it out on the dance floor... the time of our lives... .thanks Jay! 💚💚💚
Most people young and old enjoyed this Disco era. Only the narrow minded people hated it. It was diversity in a excellent way. Barry was not a ladies man like that. Bee Gees were not womanizers, not perfect, but not those type of men per se. In general, people dressed for dancing and were fresh; appearance mattered. Disco kept us in good shape, not too many overweight individuals. Newly processed foods cause weight gain for future generations, and being couch potatoes, staying indoors, just idleness and playing and watching video games did not help physically and mentally. Lots of fun house parties too, even the elders could disco with ease. lol
The Bee Gees were the Nickelback of the disco era. Dismissed by the same masses who secretly enjoyed them, regardless of their supposed reasons for not liking them. Fortunately, people grew up and they're generally revered now.
Yes sweetie I am this old. I love watching your reactions to these videos and great songs. I have so many suggestions for you to view so we could watch your reactions. You are great. You really love listening to these old songs.❤

Love the beginning of this movie, Saturday Night Fever, for which the Bee Gees made and solidified their disco phase. You have to play it. You'll love it and probably recognize it. 💙😎
I was dancing in clubs to this music!!!!
We grew up with this in Europe and i still love it so much...iam almost Sixty years old😂
I love their songs “ How deep is your love” and “More than a Woman” check these out and let us know what you think.
Every generations has its own dance moves. Gen Z does have twerking :)
Great music you can still enjoy today! Go enjoy!
This is one of the tracks in the film Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta, the dancer. Great film, great song!
I recommend you listen to BeeGees “Staying Alive.” You’ve probably heard it but don’t know the name. A favorite of many.
Check out Jive Talkin, Staying Alive, Nights on Broadway and Tragedy by the BeeGees if you like the up beat music ❤
A pretty well perfect live performance is the song, ''Unchained Melody'' by the Righteous Brothers-1965. If you want to hear a couple of minutes of them joking around and explaining why only one is singing put ''The Andy Williams show'' in your search.
The video is from a movie called Saturday Night Fever! That's John Travolta dancing!
I was a kid before my teens and the music vibe was gold Night clubs for teens too Great times
It WAS just as fun as it looks! Disco dancing took so much energy, we were celebrating being young!!
You would’ve loved the 70s, what fun we had - brilliant music and discos!🎉🥳🎊
Omg best time I danced every week, BG won 5 awards for that album and movie
Berry's been married for about 50 years to the same woman, but he had a few girls along the line. And then concerts and stuff they were on the road a lot.
Their music was everywhere man, you literally could not go anywhere without hearing these songs. They were truly special and had longevity over a span of 20 years.
I was blessed baby.
I got too listen, dance, ,sing , like John Travolta the disco Era.
Thank you God !!!!!!!!
Lots of fun house parties too, even the elders could disco with ease. lol
Lol....they all were heart breakers!!! And believe it or not ..Kenny Rogers singing Lady. Just yum
The Bee Gees were the Nickelback of the disco era. Dismissed by the same masses who secretly enjoyed them, regardless of their supposed reasons for not liking them. Fortunately, people grew up and they're generally revered now.
This great!!! I got catded at the movies to see Saturday Night Fever!!!! Great great song!!! Peace
Everything The Bee Gees was definitely played in the disco clubs. Wonderful days…we had the best music.
We had whole albums back in the day, The Bee Gees wrote the entire soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever among many others. I loved the 70's.
The 4th fellow with the Beegees, was they're youngest bro Andy Gibb.
