@brentlee Yoyoka doesn’t play with different bands. She is however a regular participant at Ultimate Jam Night. This is a completely unrehearsed production where high pedigree touring and session musicians play both covers and originals.
The lineups are curated by us at Ultimate Jam Night matching skill sets and talents of performers.
What you’re watching are five performers who have never played together and don’t even know each other. They are given the song in advance and each learns their part.
Then they get up and do it live just as you see here in real time-zero rehearsal.

Yoyoka drives the rhythm like a movie cowboy chasing down the villains.🏇 Great job ALL! 👏😂I guess Yoyoka's talent and ability to ensure the band and song shine, increasingly makes collaborating with her a 'no brainer'. Yoyoka's proving herself, and earning the 'spurs' great session musicians need. Her Whisky A Go-Go 'apprenticeship' seems very worthwhile in so many ways.

Great cover! I always loved the original Heart sound and a big part of it was the Michael Derosier drums (which were definitely John Bonham inspired). You nailed it perfectly here, Yoyoka! My favorite Derosier recorded performance is on the song "Mistral Wind" from the album "Dog and Butterfly" - his entry after the long intro is majestic!

Highy impressive , especially for a band who've never played together before. The singer pretty much nailed the vocals, and of course, Yoyoka was as awesome as usual.

Yoyoka is always flawless. When I was young, we had a place near me that was a lot like the Whisky A Go-Go, where a lot of the old famous bands would tour, as well as a lot of bands that didn't quite make it. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I have seen a lot of these videos where the band around Yoyoka aren't even close to her skill level. I might be critical because in those days, bands like these wouldn't make it on stage at the Whisky and I hope they recognize what an honor it would be to play with Yoyoka, because if she chooses to continue this as a career, she'll become far more successful than all these people she's giving the privilege of playing with.
In fairness, the bands you're referring to having seen at The Whiskey and elsewhere have mostly been performing and rehearsing together for months or years. Whereas Yoyoka is performing at Jam Nights, where the musicians have never rehearsed the song together, and often have never even met each other until the performance, and in fact are not a "band" at all. Given that, I have been continually impressed by these performances.

whoever is recording this for Yo should get a good digital recorder and patch into the mixing board. or if the sound engineer already has one give them a drive to put it on and then dub it into the video and give us something better than a phone recording.
These are recorded by her dad Aki (who is a skilled sound engineer) on an iPad. I suspect if plugging into the board was possible at Whisky he would done so. I don't think they (Whisky) record these sessions. If you can find a Whisky recording on YT not done on an iPhone/iPad I would like to see it.
If you check out any of YOYOKA live concert videos that Aki was involved in the mix (especially with respect to YOYOKA's drums) and sound are always pretty damn impeccable. I suspect it drives Aki nuts that he can't (and YOYOKA) tune the drum kit and mic it to perfection at Whisky. For UJN sessions you can see how fast the switch of bands happens.
A foot cam would also be nice : ) ... The live sound like in this capture - that the audience hears - is also interesting

I remember when crowds were into the music. Not into being photographers.
The antics are X-factor worthy (which means, more frolicsomeness/ tomboyishness than ever before). How great could it have been if some of the women granted a bit more observation on the clockwork drumming.

For one reason or another, Yoyoka's bass drum is not coming across so we aren't hearing Mike Derosier's chugging drum line (although I have no doubt that Yoyoka is playing it).
I suspect limitations of the iPad/iPhone
