I think BKs problems are mostly with their franchisees. Most BKs are poorly run, dirty, under staffed. Their food is ok with the expectation that they're fast food, but the restaurant experience is underwhelming.
Yeah also they don’t have a niche. They used to be the discount one, but now Wendy’s has taken a lot of that market with 4 for 4/biggie bag deals. If you want consistency and app integration McDonald’s is better If you want quality there’s almost any other place is better than BK.
I have to agree! There are so many I have walked into, that smelled like they have sewer grease problem. The other is once you take a flame broiled burger and put it in a steam table for holding, along with a bun, it becomes a soggy tasteless mess. I use to love BK as a kid, with the messaging "HAVE IT YOUR WAY"! Freshness was key as well. Today it is no longer that way.
They should do what Dominos did, admit that their food has gone downhill and show how they are going to improve it. Offer deep discounts for a while to regain customers to see how much better they have gotten. Nobody cares about window-dressing remodels. Just keep the place clean and well run.
@@saltshakergg1813 Yeah the biggest issue with Burger King is their food really tastes processed outside of their whoppers. Their issue is a foundational issue. The food just sucks.
The last time I walked into a BK, looked around, so disgusted by the utter mess I walked out with out ordering. Chick Fil A took their business because Chick is friendly, has what people want and is well run.
And they can serve 20 times the people in the same amount of time. And that's not an exaggeration, at least for the stores in my area. Also, I can get a cheaper meal from Five Guys than McDs in my area, and McDs isn't even in the same universe when it comes to quality/taste/portions. I know McDs is not BK, but it is similar priced, maybe less
Nothing beats a well made whopper. The problem is finding a well made whopper. My local BK used to be great but now has poor management and uncaring workers. Such a shame. I probably would have to go a few towns over to get a decent whopper.
this is true. i rarely eat fast food and even more rare bk, but a couple months ago i went early around 10 am and got a whopper with cheese. piping hot and truly delicious, one of the best burgers i had had in months and not just fast food burger
@MyKeeP81 agreed! A good is a rare treat, unfortunately. It's made worse by circumstance. I usually only get fast food during road trips and those restaurants near the highways are the worst because they don't have to be good to get business. So I always get bad food...
@@CodyCha I worked for them for 4 years. Most stores in my area where clean and the food was good. The problem is that they had a hard time keeping good employees and management sucked by they sounded like it was a privilege to work for BK.
When I was a kid in the 80's you could smell the burgers as you road past BK because they were cooked on a literal grill. The "Whopper" was the best burger hands down, but they got away from their roots with ownership passing through so many hands. If they ever returned to their roots, revamp their locations and properly staff their locations I believe they'd rise again.
if i pull upto a burgerking and i see ghetto people working i just leave, im not trying to end up the victim of a "burger on the floor" prank on Tik Tok
BK was my favorite when in 1970 because of the Whopper as it was then. Since then, the Whopper changed and I stopped going to BK. The last one I had, that was 5 years ago, was small and dry and tasteless except for the condiments. If they get the Whopper back to what it was fifty years ago, I'd go back. I remain skeptical.
@@SBCBears The burger king in my town makes a great whopper, they balance the toppings great and it's pretty big. It alone was just enough to fill me up
@@Bluman2 That's good. I'm comparing today's Whoppers with '60's Whoppers. If you aren't a geezer like myself, you won't know the difference. They were amazing and bigger around than current Whoppers.
I believe they can bounce back, Burger King was very popular in my area 15-20 years ago.. I believe quality control and marketing can take them back to that era
The Whopper for $.99 got me through college. That was a great burger. You go to a BK now and you’ll get a grey, stale microwaved thing for $10. No thank you.
The problem with most fast food restaurants, is that pricing has doubled in the past 10 years while portions have gotten smaller. I used to be able to get a combo meal for $6-$7 and now it's north of $12. Even McDonald's dollar menu is much more than a dollar. It's just cheaper for me to eat at home and get better quality food.
The thing that made Burger King iconic was the fact that they grilled their burgers on an actual grill. The smell of that is amazing from experience. But after so much corporate handover and turmoil, the brand is faded and has become synonymous with being a second-rate chain. Maybe they can reclaim what was lost. Only time will tell.
The problem is the food quality. The whoppers jr are too small, the meat is too thin, the french fries are awful. The hamburgers taste AWFUL. Take $400 millions and invest in the food taste. You hardly see any customers at Burger King.
@@dutyrover946 Dude he wasn't complaining about the size of the BK fries. He was complaining about the quality. Speaking of which both BK and McDonald fries are low quality imo. Personally for me BK has the worst quality burgers of all the big franchises.
There's a reason why Burger King's international markets do so well. They innovate, they create specialty burgers or sides almost every quarter, and they use fresher ingredients. BK in the USA used to do this but rarely does any of this anymore.
if i pull upto a burgerking and i see ghetto people working i just leave, im not trying to end up the victim of a "burger on the floor" prank on Tik Tok
In America, it’s poor management with lazy workers, who don’t give a damn about the job. Which equivalents to poor food quality and customer service. I’ve been to BKs around the world and everything is way better. Also the workers don’t look like they just got out of the prison. 😂
It doesn't help when managers fudge wait times on drive thru when they push you to overflow parking. When you pay your order is closed. So much fudging numbers.
2 different Burger King locations around my area closed due to poor performance numbers. The main problem I noticed was uncaring workers turning customers away an hour before closing, often using excuses like registers are down, or just completely ignoring drive thru customers when they would approach the drive thru window.
But they hired the employees and paid them the absolute minimum. Imagine being a really good employee making minimum at Burger King who gets the orders right, is good at customer service, and is friendly to all the customers. Now imagine having regular customers who own businesses that need hard workers. Oh, and that really hardworking person at the front or window, knows the really hard working people in the back so they go too.
Sounds like poor leadership appointing a terrible manager which hired and allowed bad workers to run the store. It happens a lot and am experiencing it more and more often especially in stores like white castle, Wendy's, and McDonald's in my area of Northside, Chicago.
The once cheap fast food places are just as much as Chic Filla, Panera, Jersey Mikes, Whataburger etc… Why pay 10-20$ for crappy food and poor service ? 🤷🏽♂️
To be fair, depending on what you order sometimes its made "fresh" during the time you start ordering in the drive through . For example if you ask for Large Onion rings or a Chicken Sandwitch that takes around 6+ minutes to make sure its cooked properly before its served to you.
Around 1983 you could drive past BK and see and smell 'huge' clouds of smoke coming from the roof smoke stacks, it made it hard to not stop and the food was piping hot and goooood. McDonalds, Wendys and others when you walked in had burgers on the flat tops sizzling and cooking. Those days are gone and its all garbage.
I eat at Buger King maybe once or twice a year because somebody "forced" me to. And every time I go, extremely rude service, long wait times and COLD FOOD! every single time.
The company is doomed if they don't improve the food drastically. Its not the tech when you order, its not the fact we don't see enough advertising, its not the look of the restaurants that are the problems. The food used to be top notch in the country and has taken several steps down as the last 2 decades have happened. If BK doesn't fix their product, the burgers and fries, back to a top 1 contender, there is a 0% chance of this working at all.
I hadn't been to BK for decades because there were none near me, but when I passed one on a road trip, I stopped in for a Whopper. They were great in the '70s, but the Whopper I got 5 years ago was dry and tasteless and small.
@@SBCBears We are in the age where people don't want to work and the ones that do have a job don't care about the quality of their work. Workers from 50 years ago had more integrity, pride where they worked and did a better job or atleast tried to.
The problem with BK in Nz is that the franchisee stores are run badly. I have experienced dirty stores, missing items, drive thrus closing early and cold food. I actually like the product and food over MD but the consistency isn’t there with the quality and service.
The secret to their success will be to improve the quality and taste of the whopper. right now the whopper taste like some thing that was partially grilled over some kind of a flame and then microwaved for service. It is really flavorless. I first started going to Burger King in the mid-1960s. When you came in the restaurant then, there was a big broiler, running down the middle of the restaurant. You came in and placed your order, and someone took a fresh patty and put it on the grill, and it made its way across the length of the broiler. wow that was going on. Somebody was putting the toppings on your bun. By the time the burger made it through the broiler all they had to do was take the Patti out put it on your bun and wrap it up. It was extremely hot and fresh, and actually tasted like a flame grilled burger. It was outstanding and I ate there a ton. I was in high school then and drop by whenever I had an opportunity. What they’re serving today taste nothing like I remember that burger tasting. I just can’t get the feeling that the meat has been pre-cooked somewhere and then just heated for service. I wish them luck because I have I have always liked a good flame grilled burger. That’s the main thing they need to concentrate on and not all the advertising and re-branding. They need to figure out a way to get back to the actual flame. Grilled hot off the grill burger. Good luck to Burger King. There is one about a half a mile from my house and I don’t ever eat there because the product is just not any good.
Exactly this. They're spending $400 million, and non of that is to make there food better. I'd also like to add that they need to focus on service and cleanliness. Far too often I see stores that are filthy, with employees that look like they've worn the same shirt for weeks with stains and everything.
what kind of hill billy makes a meal out of two large fries ?? I always order a small and usually don't eat all of them. It's called BURGER King - - not French fry King !
@@urbanurchin5930 Who cares what it is called. Ordering a Large onion rings ⭕ and getting a Small quantity is not good, especially with the high price.
As someone who is a franchisee (not BK) I personally think a lot of these issues stem from the former CEO who did the heavy disocunting which cut franchisee profits. If you are not making money then you cannot afford to invest into your restaurant or hire more staff. Also during the period of heavy discounting food cost increased rapidly due to new suppliers to be inline with RBI's suppliers. Then BK was sold to RBI. They made no investment into the brand, they did not support franchisees but instead increased costs and fees. Thus leaving even less profit for franchsees.
Interesting, that makes total sense. The plan/investment outlined in this video isn't going to work either. They can clean up a small percentage of their stores, and sink 150 million into marketing gimmicks and tech, but the underlying problem is still there... lack of quality food for a reasonable price. Cheaper doesn't always mean better, but who knows what they're going to come up with.
Fast food in general has gotten too overpriced, but BK's big issue is not directing their franchise owners to run their places better. Our town's stores are kind of dirty and understaffed. I've been told the franchise owner refuses to pay what other places are, so simply can't get people to stay. So service is often slow, and often it's only the drive throughs running. Also, the menu is endlessly changing, and the marketing trick I personally hate, not showing prices, also turns me away. Corporate needs to assess their franchisees in order to improve the places they have, simply closing poor performers won't improve anything.
I actually remember BK's tendercrisp chicken sandwich being one of the best chicken sandwiches from a fast food spot. However, I haven't really been to BK in awhile.... I feel like out of the "big three," I am going to Wendy's first.
In Canada the BK chicken is complete trash. No where near the quality of McDonald's chicken. It's the complete opposite for beef. The Whopper has good beef while the Big Mac is quite nasty.
Just avoid them all together. The workers are awful. I get it, they're working, trying to make money, but the youth that brings their attitude makes me avoid fast food. They can never get your order right or is flat out miserable and rude. They can't seem to leave their inner city attitude at home.
I still talk about the tendercrisp, get a buffalo sauce to go with it and it was the best, plus their old lemonade was fire. They haven't had a good chicken sandwich since. That and their chicken wraps were awesome too, but they fail over and over again with chicken now. Sad.
You'd think that with the "chicken sandwich wars" going on over the past few years that they would want to put their best effort in but BK's best was almost 20 years ago with the tendercrisp (spicy one was awesome).
I went to a burger king a few weeks ago. She said it would be 10 minutes before she could even take my order, at a slow time of day. Pretty much sums up my burger king experiences.
Take one trip through a Burger King drive thru and you'll see why sales are down. I recently downloaded their new app and used drive thru. Waited 15 mins in line with only 2 people at most ahead of me, and they forgot some of my food. Meanwhile go to chicfila with 20 people ahead of you and you spend no more than 5 mins in line. What makes it worse is the dining room is still closed from COVID stating lack of staffing. Please...
Same experience with me. I went to the BK by my house 3 times, the 1st time the chicken sandwich was dry AF, the second time they forgot an item and the 3rd time I had to wait 5 minutes just for them to take my order when there weren't any customers ahead of me. I'm sure this is the same experience for many other customers
@@stoundingresults Food aside, I'm talking efficiency. If it's fast food and you can't even do it moderately quickly, you better have much better food bc at that rate just go to Five Guys where it's made fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp.
For a single Whopper with cheese, it's close to $9.50. That's for just one thin patty. I asked myself: Why in the world didn't I just make a hamburger at home? And for a few dollars more, you can probably get it nicer hamburger somewhere else. They really can't increase their prices anymore.
Went to a local BK yesterday and their junior whopper was just about the size of a slider. The price increase does not correlate with the size decrease.
The worst customer service I experienced for fast food was at a BK. I am usually a very level headed guy. I am no “karen”. But they were so rude I swore at them and left without ordering anything. It was a good while before I tried another location inside a mall. The double stack was smaller than I remember. I don’t normally eat BK because all locations are out of my way from where I live or work. It doesn’t help that a McDonalds near where I work has not only better service. The food is actually good most times.
if i pull upto a burgerking and i see ghetto people working i just leave, im not trying to end up the victim of a "burger on the floor" prank on Tik Tok
Exactly. We need to close all Walmarts down immediately. Also close McDonalds all Cable companies, shutter Disney, and get rid of rideshare. It would be such a better world. ❤
Here in Indonesia, BK has been in a good track ever since they 1. Revamp their fried chickens and 2. Introduction of King's Deals. So imo, if they want to compete in the US ig they should start revamping their food quality and introducing better value meals for the consumers.
Why should I pay $11 dollars for a Whopper combo, when I can get a #1 combo from In-N-Out for $9 bucks!? Not to mention, In-N-Out is paying their employees a better wages!
If they can teach their employees to provide good customer service. Transparent pricing. And constant good quality of food and service. Then they could make a comeback
Sounds SUS, what do you mean when you say transparent pricing when their menu prices are literally on the menu screen at the cash register? As for food quality I only noticed some slight bits of chicken portion sizes again "slight" difference for the their crispy chicken sandwiches at different locations sometimes. Their food is fairly consistent and only the amount sauce added to a sandwich varies. Taste is pretty much the same everywhere and you can ask for something fresh or "OB" might be the professional term when you want it fresh and tasty. Now as for customer service I really don't know what region your from but BK has better customer service in most places I visited than McDonald's, Wendy's, white castle and many others.
Here they changed from grill to microwave (I've seen it). It's a "fancy" microwave, but it still sucks. I saw how three once super popular locations in my city are now closed. They stuck now, awful taste, ingredients, and consistency. I've tried twice in the last three years and both times I felt robbed.
This is not true the only part that is used that looks like a microwave is a cheese melter that you in to melt the cheese. This machines is near the front where customers see it so sometimes it looks like a microwave from their point of view when its not.
all there food with cheese gets microwaved. The burgers are flamed broiled from a frozen patty and is hold in a pan for hours. Their workers will never throw way the food when it’s old because they don’t care to take the effort to make new food to replace old food, only when it runs out is when they actually want to replace them… their pay is so low that you shouldn’t eat their food. I worked there as a teen in high school back in the day.
My store closed down about 2 months ago, It was an honor to serve the kingdom. Jokes aside I had such a great experience working there over a year and a half. The work atmosphere was really great, I always felt satisfied seeing a lobby full of customers that I made food for.
To clarify, their $400 million brand turnaround is for remodeling, advertising, and digital advertising. When Dominoes turned things around they improved the quality and taste of their food. Just saying.
Yes! Why is it so hard for them to understand. Stop overcharging for crap. Put your money, time, and effort into making your food really good and people will actually want to pay for it. Every Culver’s I pass is busy because they actually serve hot, fresh, and good food.
There was no mention of how to treat employees better, from management down or from the customer to the workers. If employees are treated well, you’ll get better results/service from them.
It's not the locations or marketing, it's how much they marked up their food prices. Like I used to be able to get 10 piece nuggets for like a few bucks, now you could maybe get 4 for the same price. Ever since covid all these food chains nearly double in price.
Everywhere has unfortunately. Look at McDonalds I’m in a relatively cheap state South Carolina. A small fry is like 2.50$ mcchicken around 3$ or something. Last time I remember getting a actual 1$ cheeseburger from McDonald’s was like 2016-2017…
@@johnblaze6269yup inflation is getting crazy while wages aren’t rising. Ever since Biden has got in office the economy has been in complete ruins I wouldn’t be surprised if we hit a depression soon. Plus all this money going to Ukraine why the US is in debt.
@@Jacksonk628the days of dollar burgers are long gone. In 2017 I would literally go to McDonald’s almost daily after playing basketball and get a $1 McChicken
It now costs $5 for 8 nuggets at BK here in Canada when it used to only be $3 before the pandemic. I stopped eating at BK for that reason despite going there all the time since 2011. BK is just as expensive as everything else now and that was the only thing that set it apart from the other big burger chains.
BK near my home closed in the 80s, then 15 years later, it reopened again as BK, then closed 15 years later. My biggest complaint with this BK was customer service. Rude employees can really hurt a business.
I grew up eating whoppers and during that time the food was great. The burgers were "flame broiled" and fresh off the grill and the meat actually tasted good and like "meat". Today when you walk into a store you go to the counter and "may" get waited on in the next 3-4 minutes unless the employees are having conversations between themselves or on cell phones. There is no care in making the whoppers and its like they throw them together without any real care. I always ask for a burger fresh off the grill and have had strange looks from the counter person. Look in the video at around the 6:33 point and you see a burger being "warmed" which would indicate it was not hot and fresh off the grill when being made ?? That fact plus the crazy cost of a single whopper has made me go to other places who do have "fresh made burgers" such as Culvers. It's sad Burger King has fallen so far down in quality.
i used to work for BK. They dont have a "Grill" they have an automatic broiler. Meat goes in and cooks for the required time. After done its ejected in to a pan. That pan is then put in to a food warmer unit that keeps it warm until the meat is needed. While that meat is only good for x amount of time, some might not follow those rules.
I think the price of the burgers compared to the competitors is much higher. I’ve heard lots of people say that they don’t go to BK because it’s very expensive.
My nearest McD's has $4.59 Big Macs and Quarter Pounders w/ cheese (and my app has a deal to add a 2nd for 29 cents) and the Burger King across the street from it wants $6.89 for a Whopper.
Every place is ridiculously expensive. Actually Burger King held back the longest over McDonalds and Wendy on the price increases. But, eventually Burger King increased their prices, multiple times. And, now Burger King is too expensive.
one big issue i can immediately point out is that if my friends want chicken nuggets, mcdonald’s and wendy’s will deliver a reasonable price high quality 20 piece nuggets option. Burger King can’t deliver because their chicken nuggets are trash. if my friends want to eat a mcchiccken or mcdouble cheeseburger equivalent at mcdonald’s or wendy’s they will be set for $6 at mcd and the 2 for $5 at wendy’s. the burger king equivalents to a mcchicken or mcdouble cheeseburger are rubbish. the smallest sandwich affordable value that burger king has is the whopper jr, but it will always leave you feeling fatter and greasier than the rivals.
Back when I ate fast food I always wanted BK but every single one took forever to get an order processed. It could be an value meal or a simple 10-piece nugget, it would always take 10+ minutes. Curiously enough the chimney was always billowing smoke out like they were actually cooking something, yet no one was there. They still have the best tasting burger out of the fast food chains because they have the char-broiled taste.
McDonalds is incredibly consistent. In the past, they were all over the place, but eventually became consistently good. You went to a McDonalds and almost always got exactly what you expected, well, if you didn't order ice cream. It's pretty impressive. I can't ever recall having an issue with McDonalds that was the employees' fault, even if it was a mistake. The only time was when another customer took my order, which isn't on them Burger King is hit-or-miss, but luckily, it's location-dependent. There's good BKs and bad ones. This means if you go to a Burger King and everything was good, if you go there next week, you can expect good quality. The one here is overall good. I like it because it's fast, but the Whoppers are sometimes cold, but still good quality. Their staff though has been really professional
I agree about the McDonald's part. I remember years ago, that they seemed more likely to get my order wrong! Ironically, during the pandemic, they have been very good!
I’m shocked that people are moving away from discounts to full price. I never order from a fast food place without using some coupon they offer whether it’s printed or on their app.
I look at the menu to see what I want to eat, the cost is irrelevant, if I'm walking in the door I've already assumed I'm paying at least $10 no matter what I order. Eating should be enjoyable, not stressful.
Yes! Around here in IL the quality has greatly improved along with their specials. When using their app or coupons you can easily feed 4 people under 20 bucks.
@@bloodlove93 well yeah… but you can still get a two small whopper meal for 11.99. If you want to upsize I suppose you can probably pay additional 3 dollars. Still 30 dollars for 4 big meals sounds like a fair trade, even in this economy.
I think the vast majority of fast food chains have continued to cut down on their quality over the years. They all taste worse compared to when I was a kid.
Yup, and it is certainly not, "Oh, you were a dopey little kid, so you just thought the food was good!" NO, all of these fast food places have simply gotten worse since the 80s. The food is awful in all of them. (But McDonald's Hotcakes are still decent tho).
The Whopper and Chicken Sandwich are shells of their former selves. With barely any toppings on it anymore! A friend had mentioned Wendy's and I never gave them a chance, just didn't cross paths. Once I tried the Dave's Single I instantly thought it tasted like a Whopper, it does have similar ingredients, but it looked much better. More densely packed with toppings, it was wrapped in a tinfoil type wrapper keeping it hot when I got home and I think it's a brioche bun!
I applied at Burger King in Campbell, CA as soon as I turned 16 years of age back in 2000. One of the best methods to make any good burgers at Burger King was “off the broiler” meaning they will cook the meat patties when you make your order instead of using ones already been cooked in the meat warmer. It takes a bit longer for your order to finish, but trust me, the burger will taste much better. Of course this was 23 years ago, not sure about today. One of the things I hated about working there was the cheapskate manager. He always made us asked “how many ketchup would you like?” Every time a customer asked for ketchup. You had to give exact amount the customer requested. When he was not around, I just grabbed a hand full and dropped them off in the bag or on the tray when got asked for ketchup. Dude, ain’t nobody got time to count each one.
" Fresh off the broiler " was the key to making a great whopper !!! That has stopped as the meat comes off the broiler and into a pan. The meat/sandwich is then microwaved to temperature when the order is place. I have requested a fresh off the broiler whopper a few times and the counter person looks at me like DAAAAAA, they are all fresh off the broiler. But the when you look back in the kitchen you see the meat patty taken out of a pan, put on the sandwich and then microwaved you know this is not " fresh off the broiler ".
Restaurants better than BK: 1. In and Out 2. Carl Jr. 3. Hardee's, Ohio 4. Chick Fila 5. Five Guys 6. Culver's 7. Wendy's 8. McDonald's 9. Freddy's 10. Jolly Bees 11. Hot N-Now Detroit 12. Portillo's Chicago 13. Pollo Tropical 🏝️ Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, FL, Puerto Rico locations, Metro, Ponce, Yauco. And yes I have tried all of these locations. Burger King is poison.
I went to my local BK a couple months ago and was turned away at the window. There was a crazy looking guy who told me he was the only one who showed up for work and he couldn’t cook and run the window by himself. I couldn’t believe it-
It is interesting to hear about the differences between BK in the US and internationally. In high cost nations like Scandinavia, where they pay their staff fairly well, the service level is always good, the food is ample in size and good in quality, and as far as I know these operations are financially very successful too. If the US part of the branch wants inspiration look at what they are doing abroad. Apart from that, eliminating a few of the menu items might be in order, or at least place their traditional big sellers on the top of any menu system would be my advice.
THAT'S THE THING; In a market like Europe that would mean the company has to pay their staff a liveable wage and agree to that before doing business somewhere like Scandinavia where it's REGULATED.. Companies can if they want to, they just choose not to on the whole in America.
Its not even the pay its the people themselves. The UNITED STATES is becoming a cesspool of absolute BAD employees. Most of this people do not care about their jobs. No matter their pay which by the way will be always limited due to their levarage. This folks always fall short
Here in Germany staff of course is also payed fairly well. But still they managed to have a major hygiene scandal in 2014 and they had to shut down about every 7th of their locations immediately because the food was unsafe for consumption.
They wouldn't stop with the mayo on my burger. I had no choice but to stop going. The meat was good and so were the fries, but they ruined my burger with mayo one too many times. Yes, I always said NO MAYO. They couldn't comprehend or care.
They’re winning the marketing battle here in France! Huge news as it is McDonald’s second biggest market- BK is seen here as young, more qualitative, better than any other fast food.
yeah they lost it in Taiwan and in Australia they seem to be doing as well as many commenters describe their burgers...not good! If my memory is correct there was a lot of hype in france related to them being known but absent during the 90's and doing a comeback around 2010, so all the people for whom it has a special name are working and have money to take their families to BK. The last time i had a whopper it was barely cooked and reminded me of when i tried the french Quick chain before it went bust, they also tried to pull that trick of minimal cooking
@@juki6377 They’ve been bought by BK and transformed into it- makes sense as it was a very smart move. But surprisingly enough they’re doing a comeback, we even see them in TV ads now even tho they disappeared for a time
Yo, I work at Burger King in France. We are not doing so good, as you think. People are losing interest in BK due to: 1) longer wait time due to complex menu options ( we are fast food, but company keeps making menu more complicated and hard to work with; 2) quality of ingredients is getting lower and lower; not to say, that more and more people are talking about bad quality of meat, tomatoes ( I’ll tell you a secret, as an employee of BK - our tomatoes are bad); meat especially, there are problems with meat definitely; 3) understaffing problem - management is trying to save money on hiring new people, that why we always lack personal on kitchen, always slowing down, losing time. To summarise, BK has big problems outside of US, and if they don’t recognise them and start doing something about it - BK will collapse.
The whopper has been my favorite burger since I was a kid in the late seventies. And when I moved to South America in the early eighties, the whopper was our clear link to home. I sincerely hope they focus on the whopper and focus on that grilled patty with better meat, buns with sesame seeds, and fresh vegetables. With good stewardship, this burger is clearly a large portion of peoples favorite, the whopper sells itself on its distinct differences than Wendy’s dave double with its sweet bun, and the big mac and quarter pounder, which have gotten alot better lately. Bring back the Whopper!!!
It's interesting to hear about the Burger King experience in the US vs in other countries. Here in South Africa for example, the customer service at Burger King is quite good. The staff are friendly and attentive. On one occasion there was a mistake with my order in store. When I raised it, the staff member who made the mistake came out and gave me a free portion of fries to make up for it. In contrast at McDonalds, while far more popular than BK in South Africa, the service is poor. I went there once on a Friday night and they couldn't take any orders with the computer because the "system was broken". I ended up waiting almost an hour. Not to mention one time the tomatoes in my chicken foldover were green. BK is still my favourite, and they're cheaper than McDonald's too.
@@Yo-ItsYoI'm Brazilian, I've seen some videos of BKs in Europe and the United Kingdom, if I had the opportunity to go to Europe one day I would go to a BK 🤤🍔👑🍟 the sandwiches are well made and delicious.
Over time, their genius MBAs slowly wanted to use worse, worse, and even worse beef to save a few pennies. You can only cheat customers so long, and now BK is beyond repair.
If their Whoppers looked and tasted like they did in the 70's and 80's, that would be a good start! They literally looked like the burgers on commercials and in adds. And the taste was about 90% better than today.
If they seriously want to, of course they will. In Australia, Burger King is Known as “Hungry Jacks”; and I prefer their Whoppers to MCD anytime. But, after 40 years, they have got smaller and far more expensive. Still...
I think here in Germany they already made their comeback. The Vegetarian Options are unmatched and they now start renovating all the restaurants. Plus BK Staff here tends to be a lot friendlier and communicative than Mc Donalds or so.
@@originalulix And the stores often look gross. If Burger King wants a comeback in Germany, they must improve oversight over their franchisees, make sure they keep their places clean and maybe do some clever advertising around that.
They can solve the issue if they get input from those that work and eat at the resturants. The franchises need to be held more accountable on management, cleanliness, staffing, quality of service/food of the locations. Bk also needs to make the food healthier but not change the menu but add to it. They also need to make more things fresh. So many things sit in warmers and quality drops and sucks. Used to love bk but the last 6 years or more I rarely go. That and the salt content of the food is outrageous. They also need to improve on the breakfast menu. Wendys has an amazing fresh tasting breakfast.
if i pull upto a burgerking and i see ghetto people working i just leave, im not trying to end up the victim of a "burger on the floor" prank on Tik Tok
BK in Asia is great. High standards, professional and efficient employees, and very clean. BK in the US is plagued by uncaring workers and poor management. Hope they can make a turn around because a well made whopper blows away any other fast food burger, including Shake Shack.
I'd say they won't succeed. If anything, most fast food restaurants will be out of business in 10 years. Prices are too high and quality is low. They all had a good run but nothing lasts forever..
My personal experience is that it's a people problem. The last times I've gone, the staff was bare and extremely poor from a service, timing/urgency, and even hygiene standpoint. It's sketchy when you come to a restaurant at 1pm and there's only one person who is visible working in a place like that.
The menu can use some trimming. One thing I'm surprised is the lack of a double whopper combo. Plus the triple whopper not being on the menu as a single item but being an option can be a bit confusing. Small font discount items can be a bit difficult to navigate quickly on the menu in the drive thru. These are just some of my observations.
All they need to do here is PROVIDE SERVICE! Every time you go to any in Florida you can expect to wait at least 30 min to just order. People back out of the drive through all the time. You go inside and there are 10 people holding drinks waiting and NO ONE behind the counters are doing a thing. Just talking or fighting with each other.
ICan confirm this. I live in Colorado, but I am originally from Florida and I’m out here on vacation right now. I went to Burger King the other day to use their free Wi-Fi lol which was awful by the way and there were a line of people waiting at the counter with no one at the counter. Some dude came back inside the restaurant and told him that that was the worst sandwich he has ever eaten in his entire life And it was the most funny thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life LMAO
I really hope they can come back. while their fries arent amazing, their burgers/chicken sandwiches are much better than your common competition. maybe what they need is more drink/dessert variety. or to even rebrand their fries. among a lot of other stuff like paying their staff more to make working for them more appealing.
The problem with franchises is they tend to have inconsistency, hence why local restaurants have a more reliable quality consistency. They tend to always deliver exactly as expected. Some people will say poor management. And yes that may be true. But you also have to consider if other people are playing their role correctly too in the process or the entire thing will deliver mediocre results.
They need to bring back their best sandwich ever, the Chi’KING. That alone made it stand out and actually tasted better than any other chicken sandwich included Popeyes and Chick-fil-a.
No, the Chi’KING had too much breading. Burger King should bring back the Tendercrisp sandwich. I prefer the Tendercrisp over the Chi’KING. Maybe have both options, but the tendercrisp was a good chicken sandwich that should be brought back. Get rid of the original chicken sandwich (which is okay, but not good) and bring back the tendercrisp.
Food quality itself is very important too. Marketing alone doesn't do it. Dominoes was successful in their comeback because they greatly improved their pizza also. Burger King needs to improve its food.
When i used to do disaster relief and was on the road alot, i used to stop at burger kings to use the restroom because no matter what time of the day Id pull in (anywhere) the parking lots were empty and the restrooms clean
The Whopper is still my go to. I haven't eaten inside a McD's or BK in 5+ years and if that's the case for other 20-somethings, maybe downsizing some locations and focusing on to-go orders might be a good move. McD's has a better app with better deals and the points don't seem to expire like how BK is doing now. Would love to see some positive changes.
I have like 60,000 mcd points, they keep giving me 20% off coupons if i order on the app. I don’t use the points cause 20% off is greater than any single item i can get using points. The points do expire tho.
@@akui88ame I get 25% and I’m I rather get a combo for cheap than just a burger and then having to buy fries and a drink which are overpriced so you end up paying the same.
Its an interesting place. The food is actually really high up there to me when just looking at "fast food" places, but it tends to have QC and customer service issues. Im never going to say "Im hungry, lets go to Burger King" but have no problem going there when on a road trip, and would pick it over places like McDonalds and Jack. On a good day, its probably a B/B+ fast food spot, but it also has a lot of really bad days where it tends to be slow and not that great. At least places like McD you know you are getting some not good food, but you will also get it fast and you know exactly what it is going to look/taste like each time.
The reason I don't go to Burger King is simple: they never open their damn lobby! When COVID happened, every fast food place locked their doors and forced customers to the drive thru. No longer could you go in, use the bathroom, stretch your legs, etc. Since the pandemic ended, many places reopened their doors, but places like Burger King, Wendy's, and Carl's Jr are extremely inconsistent. You'll go one day and the doors are open, then the next day and it's drive-thru only. And they never put up a sign saying the doors are locked, so you waste your time parking and getting out of the car. If I can't access your business on a reliable basis, I'm not showing up. I can go to Chick-fil-A and I know exactly when the doors open and doors closed. No surprises, no complication.
I know 2 Burger Kings that have their entrances to their parking lot in the back instead of the front, these sorts of inefficiencies are killing their profits. Id like to see them make a comeback, its an iconic American brand
Recently I’ve been going to Burger King a lot more for breakfast and dinner. It’s pretty affordable and tasty and the staff at my closest location is really nice. We’ve even sat down inside a few times which I never do at any other fast food place.
I like the flame-broiled taste, but they like the freshness that Wendy's provides. At wendys you can pack burgers with additional vegetables at no cost, and their meal deals are a great way of portion controlling with adequate variety so it doesn't become monotonous.
Here in Italy BK is actually good, especially the Whopper and the Double Whopper with ingredients that are fresh and tasty, it's a no-brainer choice compared to McDonald's choice.
If you want consistency and app integration McDonald’s is better
If you want quality there’s almost any other place is better than BK.
You are totally correct. %100
As an MBA student I agree with your analysis. They should really listen to customer feedback if they want to turn-around.
Nailed it.
They should do what Dominos did, admit that their food has gone downhill and show how they are going to improve it. Offer deep discounts for a while to regain customers to see how much better they have gotten. Nobody cares about window-dressing remodels. Just keep the place clean and well run.
Yup speaking on it alone will improve sells before ever seeing any difference
I agree those chicken fingers are horrible to the point that i truly don’t understand why they sell them
Time for Burger King to die. It’s a shame, the flavors are classic and iconic but the chains are disgusting and poorly run.
@@saltshakergg1813 Yeah the biggest issue with Burger King is their food really tastes processed outside of their whoppers. Their issue is a foundational issue. The food just sucks.

@MyKeeP81 agreed! A good is a rare treat, unfortunately. It's made worse by circumstance. I usually only get fast food during road trips and those restaurants near the highways are the worst because they don't have to be good to get business. So I always get bad food...

Can confirm the patties are grilled like they say but then the bottom half is microwaved with the cheese on it and then assembled
It's true. The whopper used to be my favorite fast food burger. Now it's just gross.
Exactly this. They're spending $400 million, and non of that is to make there food better. I'd also like to add that they need to focus on service and cleanliness. Far too often I see stores that are filthy, with employees that look like they've worn the same shirt for weeks with stains and everything.
Yeah but that would require paying at least semi-skilled employees which franchises don’t wanna pay for. We’re talking $20/hr if you want that.

Just ban fastfood,problem solved!
BK's Ch'King was suprisingly good, despite not getting the attention it deserved in the chicken sandwich wars. Then of course they replaced it
Just avoid them all together.
Prices are ridiculous and the service is terrible
I went to a burger king a few weeks ago. She said it would be 10 minutes before she could even take my order, at a slow time of day. Pretty much sums up my burger king experiences.
Take one trip through a Burger King drive thru and you'll see why sales are down. I recently downloaded their new app and used drive thru.
Transparent pricing?
Tf you mean transparent pricing? Lmfao

The prices are generally quite high compared to its competitors for the quality you get.
I got a microwaved burger from them once or twice
Here they changed from grill to microwave (I've seen it). It's a "fancy" microwave, but it still sucks.
I saw how three once super popular locations in my city are now closed. They stuck now, awful taste, ingredients, and consistency. I've tried twice in the last three years and both times I felt robbed.
@@ProphetC2exactly. I can run my own microwave and not lose ten bucks
Burger King is better than Wendy’s in Puerto Rico but Wendy’s is better than Burger King in the United States. It’s a giant difference.
I personally still like BK. The places around my area have not gone down in quality and their burgers still taste unique enough to stand out.
Yes I personally love the flame-broiled taste of the whopper
mine was good until this last year or two now everything is undercooked
I can agree with that my childhood Burger King, is still here, it’s clean, staff is nice and efficient. Delicious burgers and food.
My store closed down about 2 months ago, It was an honor to serve the kingdom. Jokes aside I had such a great experience working there over a year and a half. The work atmosphere was really great, I always felt satisfied seeing a lobby full of customers that I made food for.
LMAO

To clarify, their $400 million brand turnaround is for remodeling, advertising, and digital advertising. When Dominoes turned things around they improved the quality and taste of their food. Just saying.
Yes! Why is it so hard for them to understand. Stop overcharging for crap. Put your money, time, and effort into making your food really good and people will actually want to pay for it. Every Culver’s I pass is busy because they actually serve hot, fresh, and good food.
There was no mention of how to treat employees better, from management down or from the customer to the workers. If employees are treated well, you’ll get better results/service from them.
This. They hire the absolute worst employees. Franchisers don't care. They missed the coffee boom. They are always 10 years behind McD's
Well the cream of the crop isn't applying at BK..duh
It's not the locations or marketing, it's how much they marked up their food prices. Like I used to be able to get 10 piece nuggets for like a few bucks, now you could maybe get 4 for the same price. Ever since covid all these food chains nearly double in price.
Yup 10 nuggets used to be 1$ now it’s like 2.60 for 8 nuggets
Culver’s is legit!!!!!
@@brenspin Yep it's crazy overpriced for what it is. I'd rather get a sit-down meal somewhere on an actual plate than eat BK.
The only time was when another customer took my order, which isn't on them
Burger King is hit-or-miss, but luckily, it's location-dependent.
Prices went up, quality went down. There is the only issue
I'll assume those 4 eating are average people, because the "typical" constant bk eater, well i doubt you could even feed one with $20 lol
Pebis
" Fresh off the broiler " was the key to making a great whopper !!! That has stopped as the meat comes off the broiler and into a pan. The meat/sandwich is then microwaved to temperature when the order is place. I have requested a fresh off the broiler whopper a few times and the counter person looks at me like DAAAAAA, they are all fresh off the broiler. But the when you look back in the kitchen you see the meat patty taken out of a pan, put on the sandwich and then microwaved you know this is not " fresh off the broiler ".
@@richardsmith4187 you can look it up, they took out the broilers around 2011 lol. It's some kind of electric grill press gizmo now.

Yep, that be what it is these days when you hire people that could care less
American companies are scammers and they all end up paying the price.
Huge news as it is McDonald’s second biggest market-
BK is seen here as young, more qualitative, better than any other fast food.
yeah they lost it in Taiwan and in Australia they seem to be doing as well as many commenters describe their burgers...not good!

Yo, I work at Burger King in France. We are not doing so good, as you think. People are losing interest in BK due to:
1) longer wait time due to complex menu options ( we are fast food, but company keeps making menu more complicated and hard to work with;
2) quality of ingredients is getting lower and lower; not to say, that more and more people are talking about bad quality of meat, tomatoes ( I’ll tell you a secret, as an employee of BK - our tomatoes are bad); meat especially, there are problems with meat definitely;
3) understaffing problem - management is trying to save money on hiring new people, that why we always lack personal on kitchen, always slowing down, losing time.
I’ve been to BK more in last 2 yrs than anytime before - the Whopper is a standout
In the US it's pathetic
Burger King in the UK is great too. The quality of food is good.
Burger king and others outside of U.S. is what they used to be in the 90s

I love seeing old brands renewing themselves like that
If their Whoppers looked and tasted like they did in the 70's and 80's, that would be a good start! They literally looked like the burgers on commercials and in adds. And the taste was about 90% better than today.
Miss those days! Ima 90’s guy remember eating my first whooper when I was -30
If they seriously want to, of course they will.
They have some kind of hygiene scandal in Germany every 6 months or so, so no. Don't think it's going well for them.
@@originalulix And the stores often look gross. If Burger King wants a comeback in Germany, they must improve oversight over their franchisees, make sure they keep their places clean and maybe do some clever advertising around that.
Bruh, Germans literally voted for Hitler. Sit down.

They all Indian managers so imagine 🤣
Bruh, stop. No one goes to BK or any fast food restaurant to eat healthy.
THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE.
BK in Asia is great. High standards, professional and efficient employees, and very clean. BK in the US is plagued by uncaring workers and poor management. Hope they can make a turn around because a well made whopper blows away any other fast food burger, including Shake Shack.
Shake Shack is miles ahead bro come on 😂
BK is leading the vegan food trend for fast food restaurants, especially in Europe. I think this will help them gain more market share.
Vegans are such a small minority a Vegan menu isn't going to do much for their bottom line.
I only go to BK because of their Impossible burgers. If it weren’t for those, I wouldn’t even eat fast food.
When a whopper is made fresh its pretty hard to beat when it comes to fast food burgers
Customer service is dreadful at BK compared to the other chains as a whole.
You can get a combo of any choice but Ask to add extra meat, the way you want. They will make it for you.
Or they only have a Texas double whopper but not a single
YES! No idea why they got rid of this item. It was better than the Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich.
If they stop opening locations across the street from Every McDonald’s, yes they can come back.
Food quality itself is very important too. Marketing alone doesn't do it. Dominoes was successful in their comeback because they greatly improved their pizza also. Burger King needs to improve its food.

The BK app is so slow and glitchy. 😂
I love B K , the problem is the employees and not the food or the company
I like the flame-broiled taste, but they like the freshness that Wendy's provides. At wendys you can pack burgers with additional vegetables at no cost, and their meal deals are a great way of portion controlling with adequate variety so it doesn't become monotonous.
uhm " but they like the freshness that Wendy's provides"?
you like it? or they lack it? , i doubt BK likes wendys freshness 🤔
Here in Italy BK is actually good, especially the Whopper and the Double Whopper with ingredients that are fresh and tasty, it's a no-brainer choice compared to McDonald's choice.

Ever since Burger King switched to cheaper patties without artificial flavor, their whoppers don't taste as delicious as they did.
